Simba's pride had been taking refuge for a month in the oasis. One morning Nala awoke from intense stomach pains.

She groaned as she got up and headed behind a tree, dry heaving.

"Nala?"

She looked behind her. "Simba!"

Simba frowned and put his paw on her back. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah I...I think so...I might have just ate some bad zebra…" She said before gagging harshly.

"I think you're sick." Simba said, worried.

"Simba, I'm fine…" Nala tried to reassure him, before throwing up into a bush. "...It's just...my stomach…"

"Maybe you should lay down." Simba said.

"That sounds like a good idea." Nala groaned, heading back to the shade to lay down.

Simba sighed anxiously. There's something wrong….I just know it….

Nala laid back down and let out a small groan, getting Sarabi's attention. "Nala? Are you all right?"

"I've...been better…" Nala groaned. "I just don't….feel so good…"

"What's wrong?"

"My stomach…"

Sarabi laid beside her and groomed her gently. "Maybe someone should get Rafiki."

"I'm fine." Nala groaned. "I'll probably feel better tomorrow…."

Suddenly she gagged again, and vomited again.

Sarabi frowned. "I'm not so sure…"

"I just need to rest." Nala said, resting her head in her paws and closing her eyes.

Later Nala woke up to a sharp pain in her abdomen. She let out a roar of pain, calling the attention of the Pride.

"Nala!" Simba panicked. "Nala what's wrong!?"

"My stomach…"

"I'm getting Rafiki…" Simba exhaled.

Sarabi and Sarafina stayed next to Nala, helping comfort her as tears formed in her eyes.

"Nala, sweetie it's okay." Sarafina nuzzled her cheek.

Nala groaned as she rested her head into her mother's neck, trying desperately to ignore the pain.

Sarafina licked the top of her head and started humming a small tune to her. Nala relaxed and started to drift off.

A few hours later, Nala was gently nudged awake. "Huh?...Rafiki? What are you doing here?"

"Simba got me." He said. "He said you were feeling ill."

"Yeah…" Nala groaned. "I feel a bit better now, but...ugh...my stomach still hurts…"

"Hmm….let me see…" Rafiki put his hand on Nala's stomach and felt around. A small kick hit against his hand.

Rafiki pulled back and smiled before letting out a joyous laugh.

"Rafiki?" Nala asked, confused.

"Is she all right?" Simba asked.

"Oh, she's more than all right!" Rafiki said.

"But...my stomach…"

"Oooh, don't worry about that! It's completely normal!...You're expecting a cub!"

"I'm pregnant?" Nala shot up.

Rafiki chuckled and nodded. "Yes! A new circle of life will soon begin!"

Nala's eyes filled with tears of joy as she staggered up to nuzzle Simba. "Isn't this wonderful?"

"Yeah…" Simba smiled and returned her nuzzle. Although a pit of worry was forming in the new king's stomach.
