Wisdom teeth

Oncer asked for a oneshot of…read and see.

Snow and Charming looked up as the dentist led Emma out of the room. She was leaning heavily against him, shuffling one foot in front of the other. She was looking around, and seemed to be particularly fascinated by the lights. He looked over to Snow and Charming and smiled.

"Everything went well." He assured them. He knew the slight smudges of blood surrounding Emma's chin and small splashes on her top might be alarming. "It's strong painkillers I've given her to keep the pain at bay. So she might…not exactly be herself for a few hours." He explained. Snow and Charming figured as much by her current behaviour. "That's both lower wisdom teeth gone. I'll see her in a week to check everything's healing ok."

"Thank you." Charming said, taking over supporting Emma. "You ok?" He asked her. Emma smiled lazily at him.

"Yeah." She slurred back. "But can we go home? I don't feel so good." Charming kissed the side of her head.

"Sure we can." He promised her.

"Thanks daddy." Emma responded, leaning her head against him. Charming and Snow shared a look over Emma's head. That was a new one.

Snow and Charming carefully drove Emma home. Snow had stayed in the back beside her. Just in case she threw up, or anything else surprising happened. Snow found it noteworthy that Emma clung onto her hand the whole journey. That wasn't like her at all. Charming parked right outside the house.

"Ok, baby." Snow said as she got out and helped Emma stand up outside the car. Snow was having a hard time supporting her. She was not steady on her feet at all.

"Ok, I got this." Charming said. He didn't want to risk Emma falling and hurting herself. He carefully scooped Emma up and began to carry her back towards the house. Emma leaned her head against him. She was not feeling good at all. Charming looked down went he felt something else. He smiled. Emma had taken hold of his shirt. "I got you." He promised her. "You're fine." Emma just nodded limply.

By the time Charming carried Emma in, Snow had already set up the couch for her. There was a pillow and blanket waiting, a bottle of water and a sick bucket.

"Thanks mommy." Emma murmured as Charming set her down and pulled the blanket over her. Snow and Charming looked at each other again. These drugs really had done a number on her.

"You're welcome baby." Snow said, kissing her forehead. Emma snuggled down in her blanket. She looked up at them both.

"You'll both stay, right?" She asked quietly. Snow perched herself at Emma's head as Charming did the same at her feet. He carefully picked her feet up, slid himself back and put her feet on his lap.

"Of course we will, sweetheart." He promised her. Emma reached out and took her mom's hand. Snow smiled down at her.

"The drugs will wear off soon enough. You'll start to feel better." She promised her. "Neal's spending the night at Granny's, so you don't have to put up with the baby crying." Snow said, laughing slightly. Emma looked up at her mom with as much focus as she could muster.

"Neal's not your only baby." Emma slurred. "I'm your baby. You might not have raised me, and you might have Neal now, but I'm still your baby…right?" She asked. Her uncertainty made the parents feel awful. Charming gently rubbed Emma's leg.

"Of course you're still our baby." He promised her. "That's why we're looking after you, isn't it?" Emma relaxed slightly. Snow followed Charming's example. She carefully got Emma to move her head and shoulders off the couch for a moment, placed the pillow on her lap and then got Emma to lie down again so she was lying with her head in Snow's lap. Snow gently began to run her fingers through Emma's hair.

"Sleep, honey." Snow said quietly. "We're both right here." Emma took her mother's hand back in hers, cuddling into her. Snow continued the soothing motion until Emma drifted off.

"Poor thing." Charming whispered. Snow nodded in agreement.

"I'll stay with her tonight. Just in case the pain gets too much."

"I'm staying too." Charming pointed out. Snow smiled over at him. Of course he was. They'd do anything for their girl. Even giving up a rare baby free night to stay up all night anyway with their bigger baby.
