Sissy's songs

Bo asked for a oneshot of Rosie not being able to sleep, so she keeps waking Emma up by calling her. Nobody knows about this except Emma and Killian. Eventually, Killian complains to Snowing, saying how tired Emma is but she is too loyal to Rosie to say no. Snowing have a heart to heart with Rosie about it.

Killian groaned as he heard Emma's phone going off. He knew that wasn't the sound for her alarm. That was the sound that she was being called in the middle of the night again.

"Bloody Hell, love." He grumbled. He winced at the light pouring out from the device. "That's the third time this week."

"I know." Emma sighed. "But she needs me." Emma said as she swung her legs out of the bed and answered the call. Killian put his head back against the pillow, now too awake to sleep. The girl was nine years old. How on Earth was she even getting hold of a phone at that time? Even so, it wasn't Emma he thought the girl needed, it was her parents. So why did she keep calling her sister? Killian knew Emma would never rat her out and betray her trust, but Killian knew it was for the best. So he decided that, in the morning, he would have a word with his in-laws about their youngest daughter.

Killian made good on his promise to himself. A few hours later, once he knew Neal and Rosie would be at school, he made his way over to their home.

"Killian." Snow said, as she cleared up the breakfast dishes. "What can we do for you? Is Emma alright?"

"Aye love, Emma's fine." Killian said. "She's not the daughter you two need to be worrying about."

"What?" Charming asked her. "Rosie? What's wrong with Rosie? How would you know, anyway?" Killian then began to explain how Rosie was repeatedly calling Emma during the night. She seemed to be having trouble sleeping, and the only person who was able to help was Emma.

"Why hasn't she told us any of this?" Snow asked. Killian couldn't answer that. All he knew what he and Emma were suffering from the lack of sleep. He didn't want Emma to get hurt out on patrol.

"We'll have a word with Rosie." Charming promised him. "I thought she was looking more tired in the mornings, and I thought Emma seemed off at the station. Thank you, Killian. You've done the right thing." Killian nodded, leaving the parents to it. He had played his part now.

After Rosie was home from school, Snow and Charming sent Neal out to get a few things to give them some alone time with her.

"So…Killian stopped by to see us earlier." Charming began. Rosie began to shuffle uncomfortably. "He told us something interesting. Would you like to tell us yourself?" He offered her the chance. Rosie sighed.

"I'm guessing he told you I've been calling Emma in the night?" She asked. Her parents nodded.

"You guess correctly." Snow told her. "Now, could you tell us why?"

"I've just not been sleeping that great." Rosie said honestly. "Whenever Emma babysits, she always makes me sleep real good. She has special songs that she sings." Rosie explained. Snow and Charming looked between each other.

"Ok…but why aren't you sleeping properly, honey?" He asked her. Rosie shrugged.

"I just can't." She told them. "Not without Emma's songs." Snow and Charming didn't know how to feel about that. They thought it was adorable that their little girls had such a strong bond, despite the large age difference, but this situation wasn't good for anyone.

"Well, how about this." Snow suggested. "We can have Emma tape the songs. That way you can listen to them at bedtime?" She suggested. Rosie's face scrunched up for a moment. Why hadn't either of them thought of that before?"

"I guess that could work." She said. Charming smiled. He got up, kissing the top of Rosie's head.

"I'll get going to the station then, I'll see Emma there. I'll have her record the songs on my phone. Whilst I'm at it, I'll have a little word with her about keeping secrets." He said. He wasn't mad at Emma, he was proud of her for helping her sister so selflessly. But it was also important that there was some transparency.

Emma happily recorded the songs onto her dad's phone. Charming brought them home and they tested them out that very same night. Sure enough, Rosie was out like a light. Emma and Killian never again had their sleep disturbed by Rosie needing her sister's songs.
