16 Weeks Pregnant

She knows it's a bad idea as she makes her way up to his hotel room, he'd stopped staying with Meredith a few weeks back when his visits became a more permanent thing, Mer's house was always too noisy and busy for him to keep coming and going. It had only been a week since she'd meet Eli and Alexis, and while they all seemed to get along Jo had to remind herself that this wasn't a thing...that once this baby was born there would no need for Alex to hover around her, they'd do drop-offs and picks up and she wouldn't be spending time with the twins and neither would Mia.

Mia was already smitten with him, Dr Alex her new best friend who pulled silly faces at dinner and did the best voices at bedtime. Jo tried to ignore the pain that her heartfelt every time Mia asked for Alex, she ignored the twinge of pain it felt to tuck her in every night and see the photo of Jack sitting there.

She'd taken the rest down, the only photos of him were in Mia's room. Jo found it too painful to look at him. She'd let him down, she'd let him down that night and she was letting him down now. He should be here...he would've been here if she had just… it is not fair that he doesn't know Mia, that she doesn't know him. Jo spends her evenings crying her eyes out because this wasn't how it was meant to be, he'd come along and swept up the pieces of her broken heart and here she was right back in the same position with her heart on the line again.

She knows that playing happy family with Alex is wrong, she knows that family dinners are a bad idea because they're pretending they're something they're not. That they're happy and not broken and yet she'd just let them.

She'd blamed her conflicting feelings on the hormones that seemed to be taking over her, they were all over the place but when she was alone and feeling more like herself, it was quite clear she was playing with fire with Alex. A fire that was only gonna leave her burnt, he'd been away for a week, travelling back with the twins and Izzie to Kansas and that fear he was never gonna return crept back in, reminding her no matter how many times they pretended everything was okay it never really would be. She'd never be over the pain he'd caused her when he'd walked away without a goodbye. She'd never get over the way her heart had shattered into a million pieces while reading that letter...she hadn't been enough and she was fooling herself into thinking she was now, he was here for the baby, for his kid and nothing else. He'd already told her once that after he and Izzie split he was making no attempts to come back to her.

But right now that pain was nothing in comparison to the overwhelming desire that was burning through her body clouding her judgement. She wished it didn't have to be him. She knows standing here at his door late night was only going to complicate things like it had four months ago...rationally she knew all the reason why she shouldn't knock on his door but there is only so many times she could try and satisfy her own needs if there was one thing she knew she could count on Alex Karev to do it was this.

"Hey…" He answers the door, rubbing his eyes, his hair messy as he'd just woken up from a deep sleep. She almost feels guilty for not calling before, but the familiar ache between her legs that she can't seem to satisfy herself reminds her why she's really here.

"Is this a bad time?" She rocks back and forth itching with anticipation as his eyes focus in on her.

Alex shakes his head, standing aside letting Jo pass. "No not all...everything all right?"

"Yeah" Jo nods, throwing her bag down on the chair as she takes a seat on the desk in the corner of the room.

"Where's Mia?"

"With Link and Amelia...how was Kansas?"

"Good...thanks." He sends her a quizzical look, tilting his head slightly in a silent question of what was on her mind.

"Look last week you said something about finding your way back to me...I just wanna be clear this is not it." Jo stutters raking a hand through her hair as Alex stares back at her his hands shoved into his sweatpants. "I don't want you to think this is me coming back to you this is just me needing a release…" she bites her lip looking at him tentatively as she waits for it to finally click for him.

"To have sex?" Alex's eyes widen, and Jo groans inwardly because it's taking all her restraint here to not jump him but she doesn't have to wait long as Alex closes the gap between him, wrapping his arms around her waist, he really didn't need much convincing after all he had been the one to offer.

"Right to have sex," Jo whispers, she can feel his hot breath fanning her face as she swallows hard, sliding her hands up his chest until she reached his shoulders. It's different than before. Before she was drunk and it blurred everything but now she was stone-cold sober and even with the raging hormone coursing through her she couldn't get over that he was here, that her lips were ghosting across his.

His eyes searched hers briefly asking if this is really what she wants. And it's not...not really because it's never just sex with him so it's not what she wants but it sure as hell what she needs. One hand cradling his face as she pulls him down towards her, all her reservations fading away when his lips find hers.

"With me?" He mutters, squeezing her hips as he pulls back and Jo groans, immediately pulling him back down to her.

"With you yes but only because other men would probably find it weird to have sex with me when I'm carrying another man's baby." She mutters, arching her back as he turns his attention to her neck.

"Sure." He shrugs as he continues down her neck pressing a row of wet kisses along her collarbone.

"I'm serious," Jo mutters, she wants nothing more than to carry on but she needs him to hear her now, as she pulls his face up so their eyes meet, she can feel his hands already fiddling with the zipper on her jacket. "No I really am serious, I'm hot people wanna have sex with me." Her voice breaking slightly with the sensation of what he was doing to her as he dips back down his lips grazing her ear.

Alex smirks, as he pulls the jacket off her, lifting her shirt off in one swoop. "You don't have to tell me that." Her skin burns everywhere he touches his hands trace up to her waist.

"This is just you know co-parenting…" Jo groans as he lifts her up off the desk, wrapping her legs around his waist. "And it's just you know you supporting me through this pregnancy."

"I hear you, Jo." He chuckles against her neck, nipping the skin just below her ear making Jo let out a low moan, spurring him on even further as he drops her down onto the bed.

"When the hormones are gone we stop."

"Whatever you want."

"Just so we are clear-" Jo's words are muffled as Alex trails his lips back up to hers cutting her off.

"Mhmm Jo" Alex sighs pulling back, finding her eyes, he's slightly out of breath as she stops pulling at his T-shirt.

"Yeah?"

"Stop talking." He mutters, pressing his lips back to hers before she has changed to say anything else, trailing his kisses along her jaw and down her neck, smiling against her neck as he feels her finally relax in his arms.

It works for the most part, she feels less like a woman on the verge of breakdown now she has some release but unfortunately once they started the hormones don't seem to stop, not that Alex minds in fact he finds great joy in subtly teasing Jo in public, with Jo being a single mom and not wanting her time with Mia to be effected it's meant a lot of trips the on-call room all of which Alex is all too happy to help with, she really wants the smack the smug grin of his face every time they slip back out into the hallway. The way he rolls his eyes when she promises it's the last time, but as the weeks go by and she finds herself seeking him out and more more.

Jo groans as the persistent knocking continue on the on-call room door. Was it too much to ask for five minute uninterrupted before she combusts? "Raincheck?" Alex mumbles against her lips before pulling away. Jo sighs, rolling her eyes as she climbs off of his lap, marching towards the door.

"What is it?" She snaps, honestly, she was on the verge of tears as the intern jumps back looking sheepish as he takes in her dishevelled look.

"Sorry...sorry it's just Dr Grey needs you...both you." The intern turns beet red as he glances back at Alex behind Jo who was throwing back on his scrub top. "She's in O.R 3" He mumbles before scurrying off.

Jo groans slamming the door shut as she turns to lean against it, closing her eyes as she takes a slow deep breath. She really could cry because she's so wound up and out of all the people it had to be freaking Grey cockblocking her.

Alex laughs at her frustration, checking his messy hair in the mirror before he meets her at the doorway, leaning down pressing a peck to her lips as he moves her out of the way. "Come on let's see what she needs…"

She needs to tell him to stop, she's been meaning to for a while now, she wasn't even sure she wanted him kissing her during sex, it felt too emotional, it felt like he cared and she didn't. This wasn't love...this was just...well it was just sex and she didn't wanna give him the wrong idea. No matter how many time she told him it was just sex there was always this glint in his eyes that made her think he wasn't quite believing her.

Jo banged her head against the wall and not in the way she wanted to one more time before she followed him out, racing towards the elevator to see whatever was so urgent.

"Where the hell have you been?" Meredith barks, the minute Jo's insight, Alex was already beside her adjusting his scrub cap, there's been a six-car pile-up and they were incredibly understaffed, apparently, they don't have time for Jo to go missing.

"Sorry I'm late, I was doing stuff," Jo exclaimed, rushing towards the pair, ignoring Alex's low chuckle.

She hurries along the hallway as Meredith fills her in on the patient, apparently, her and Alex would be teaming up for this one. Great because what Jo wanted was to be as horny and five feet from the only guy who could fix it.

"Stop calling me stuff," Alex mutters under his breath, chuckling at the dirty look Jo shoots him as he begins to scrub beside her.

"Shut up…" she hisses shaking her head as the doors slip open and they head into the O.R. together.

She tells herself she'll stop but every time the hormones race through her she can't seem to stop herself, she knows she's building herself up for hurt, she knows that when her mind is clear this isn't what she wants but she can't seem to see reason when his hands are on her.
