A stupid fight

A guest asked for a oneshot of Charming and Emma having a fight that results in Emma cutting him out her life. This makes them both miserable until Charming explains to Emma how much she means to him.

Charming couldn't stand this. It was so stupid! He hadn't seen his daughter in well over two months, all because of a daft argument over shift patterns. They were both being equally stubborn. Emma had made the decision to take an extended vacation and completely avoid her father at all costs, whilst Charming was allowing it to go on. Up until now, in his mind, if Emma wanted to be childish about it that was fine by him. She could go ahead. But now, now that it had dragged on for so long, it was beginning to get to him. He and Emma had already been separated for twenty-eight years because of a curse. Were they really going to let a stupid argument cause them to be separated again? Charming knew he was still stubborn, but he wasn't that stubborn. If he had to make the first move, then he would. He wanted Emma back.

He drove round to her house, his palms sweaty. He knew she wasn't just going to accept his apology straight away, that would be too easy, but he wasn't going to give up. Not again. He wanted his daughter back in his life. Charming made sure Emma couldn't see his car out the window, otherwise she would never answer the door. He walked up and knocked. After a few moments, Emma answered. As soon as she saw that it was her dad, she tried to slam the door, but Charming wouldn't let her.

"Emma, please, just let me talk…"

"There's nothing for you to say." Emma snapped. "You said plenty that day…"

"And I'm sorry." Charming said quickly. Emma stopped. She didn't open the door, but she stopped trying to force it shut. "Emma, nothing is worth me losing you in my life. You're my baby girl. I miss you more than I can say. If that means making the first move then that's fine by me. I'm not prepared to lose you again. I've lost you too many times already." Emma froze. She'd never had someone fight so hard for her. She took a few steadying breaths. She had been so stupid.

"I've been an idiot, cutting you out like this." Emma said quietly. "I've been miserable. I just didn't know how to get over myself and stop being angry." Emma admitted. "I didn't even know what I was angry for, in the end. I was just angry." Charming nodded, he understood.

"You don't have to be angry anymore." He told her. "It's over Em." Emma flung open the door and wrapped her arms around her father's neck, sobbing. Charming held her close, cradling the back of her head. She was finally back in his arms, right where she belonged.
