Regina took the next flight for France and 8 hours later she reached the airport. It was a lonely trip. She had time to get lost in her thoughts and demons. Her thoughts and memories were torturing her. She wouldn't dare close her eyes for one minute inside that stupid plane. Falling asleep meant that she would have to face her nightmares again.

She couldn't let herself go through that. As soon as reached the airport she took a cab and jumped in. She took her tiny mirror out of her back and took a look of her tired face. The dark circles underneath her eyes were making her face look a lot more tortured and tired. She applied a small dose of concealer underneath her eyes and covered the the hints insomnia.

In the meantime Emma left the hotel and decided to pay a visit at Briana over the hospital. Vanessa had called her an hour ago and informer her that the surgery was successfully done and that Trina was gonna get better soon. The doctors said that she needed plenty of bedrest and check ups.

They had also informed Vanessa that Briana was experiencing a temporary loss of her memory. She couldn't remember what had happened the past couple of days, but they claimed that she would get better and slowly get her memory back.

Emma had to give it a try. She had to pay her a visit and try to remind her what happened. That way maybe Briana would be able to remember something and help them with the case. Any single information would be useful since both agents were pretty desperate so far.

She walked inside the hospital and wondered around the halls until she found the proper room. Room 367G. She knocked the door and a couple of seconds later Vanessa opened the wooden door waving at Emma.

"Hey... how is she?"

"She's torn apart. Apparently a cop tried to ask her a couple of questions before I got here and broke the news about what happened... she now knows that Sabrina is missing as well... can you blame her for overreacting? It's her wife we are talking about."

Vanessa pressed her lips together in sadness and Emma rubbed Vanessa's shoulders in sympathy.

"We are going to find that criminal. I'll do whatever it takes Vanessa. Now... can I come in and try talking to her? I swear I'll be gentle."

Vanessa nodded and stepped aside so Emma would come in the room. The minute she walked inside Briana raised her sight and stared at the blonde woman right in the eyes.

"For what kind of sins am I paying for?"

She sniffed and squeezed the wet tissue inside her palms. Emma sat down next to her on the hospital bed and held her hand.

"I'm sorry for what happened to you..."

"When you told us about those rumors... that there were multiple kidnappings in the hotel you weren't confused or wrong at all. You knew exactly what was going on..."

She bowed her head down and sobbed.

"I never thought that you would be the next victim..."

"It's a serial killer we are talking about Chloe! Everything is possible... you should have known."

Emma cleared her throat filled up with guilts. For some reason she was blaming herself about Briana's current situation. If she had told her about the case maybe Briana and Sabrina would be safe now. She couldn't have predicted that they would have gone missing as well though...

"Briana... First of all my name is not Chloe."

"Excuse me? You lied to me?"

She looked at Emma condescendingly and crossed her hands under her chest.

"No... yes. But I lied because I had to due to my work. I'm an undercover agent Briana. My name is Emma Swan. I'm investigating the hotel since the very beginning of this trip in order to solve the mystery. I'm sorry you had to be part of this."

Briana shook her head and a new wave of teared flooded her eyes.

"What about your wife?"

"She's not my wife.. her name is Regina Mills and she's working for the FBI."

"So you're not really married..."

"No we are not. I'm so sorry... we are just partners in crime."

She pointed out trying to make it all sound a little bit better. She knew that it wasn't her fault. She had to lie in order to protect her identity but she was never a good layer. She also hated laying to people... even though Briana was technically a stranger.

"So there was never an ideal proposal?"

"Excuse me what?"

"You know... the proposal you described us that took place in the aquarium..."

"No Briana... I'm sorry. Believe me... I'm not a bad person. I just had to do this for my job."

Briana looked away and then back at Emma forcing a smile.

"You couldn't have known... I know that I would have done the same thing if I were in your shoes."

Emma smiled back at her and squeezed her hand inside her own.

"Will you promise me that you're gonna find Sabrina?"

"I'm gonna try my best Briana I promise. In the meantime... please try to remember! Anything could be useful right now cause we are kinda stacked."

Briana pressed her lips together trying to focus.

"I can't recall anything from the past two days.."

"What about the gardens and the lion you mentioned a few seconds before you lost your consciousness?"

Briana remained silent for a while trying to think but nothing. Every single memory right now was completely blurry.

"I'm sorry.. I promise that in case I remember anything I'm gonna give you call."

"Thank you. Thank you! You're a warrior you know."

Emma smiled encouragingly at the other woman and Briana leaned her head back on the pillow shutting her eyes slowly. She seemed tired. It was time for Emma to leave... she had work to do.

She nodded at Vanessa while she walked towards the exit door.

"See you soon Vanessa. Stay home and make sure you're safe. Things out there are dangerous."

Vanessa nodded and Emma left. She drove back to the hotel and the minute she walked inside the suite she noticed Regina laying on the bed looking extremely pale.

"Hey... are you okay?"

"Where the hell have you been?"

Regina snapped and rolled at her side looking at Emma in the eyes.

"Me? Where the hell have YOU been?"

"I left you a note."

Regina relied softly and uninterested.

"So what about your friend? Did she give you any clues?"

Regina looked at Emma uncomfortably and nodded her head negatively. She wasn't ready to tell Emma that Killian was the one that freed Robin Hood. She had to way. She had to investigate that specific part of the story on her own...

"No... unfortunately she had no clue about the case."

"Perfect..."

Emma said annoyed and jumped on the bed laying next to the brunette. She crossed her legs and stared at the ceiling exhausted.

"When we first came here... I was pretty sure that we were gonna solve the case within days. I was pretty sure that it would be all about a stupid misunderstanding but... I never saw that coming. I have never felt more disappointed or useless in my life. People need help and I can't help them. People are seeking for answers that I can't give them... how embarrassing."

"Is that a confession Miss swan?"

She asked playfully to cheer up the blonde woman but the sneaky smile on her lips disappeared immediately as soon as the blonde woman looked at her irritated.

"I'm being serious here."

"I know... I'm sorry. I guess I'm just way too tired of losing this battle."

She said in a weak tone and huffed.

"What's up with you anyway? You look like a mess? Are you hangover?"

She joked with a dash of mischief in her voice.

"No... I threw up five times in the plane and three more here."

"She huffed again and held her stomach annoyed.

"Gee... I hope I didn't get you pregnant!"

She laughed.

"Don't be ridiculous miss swan."

She said firmly.

"I was just joking..."

"Anyways... kids are not my forte. I realized that I'm not the mother material...not all women are made to become mums. I belong in that category."

She commented and shut her eyes exhausted.

"Nonsense... you were a terrific mother to Henry."

"Don't be ridiculous Miss Swan. I'm way to heartless to love someone... "

She moved her hand towards her necklace and squeezed the jewelry inside her sweaty palms. Emma sighted and placed her left hand on Regina's thighs supportively. She had no idea what she was thinking but she blurred it out. She didn't even get the time to think about it and she just opened her mouth and said it. STUPID!

"Honey of course you were! You loved ophelia from the bottom of your heart."

Regina froze and turned her head towards emma. Her eyes were filled up with anger and disappointment. She was quite astonished to hear such information coming from Emma's mouth.

How the hell did she know?

"How do you know about Ophelia?"

Her voice filled up with terror and curiosity.

"I may... have accidentally read your diary..."

Emma said in chirpy voice and slowly sat upright looking at Regina while blushing in embarrassment. The brunette woman's jaw dropped and her eyes widened open. She couldn't believe this.

Her blood was boiling... Emma's curiosity for Regina's personal life reached an entire different level.

"What the hell did you do?"

She yelled and stood up angrily pacing up and down in the room. At that point emma was pretty sure that in case Regina had still her magic powers she would have turned her into shish kabob.

"I'm so sorry... I know I crossed the line but I wanted to help you. I wouldn't be able to help without knowing what the hall was going on. I'm sorry Regina... I'm so sorry... I care about you! All I wanted to do was to be helpful and supportive. You went through a lot.. and it's okay to feel horrible about it but you need to open up and let it go. You need to cry about it and get this out of your chest."

She looked at Regina with eyes filled up with guilts. She was begging for forgiveness. Regina sat down on the corner for the bed and crossed her hands underneath her chest. She looked down and remained silent.

The blond woman crawled towards the former queen and placed her hand on Regina's back.

"I care about you..."

"Please don't read my diary again."

She spelled almost whispering. Her voice was hoarse and her throat dry. She had no words to describe how shitty she was feeling at the moment.

"I won't. I promise. I just wanted to help."

She pointed out and rubbed Regina's back.

"She meant the world to me..."

She broke down in tears and hugged her knees ashamed. Emma pressed her lips together and held Regina tight in her arms.

"I know honey... I know.. get it all out."

"I haven't stopped blaming myself since then! I should have been more careful! I should have run away... from him. She was the only reason why I stayed strong! She was the only reason why I kept hoping for a better place! And my cradle of hope was suddenly all gone."

She sniffed and sobbed loudly.

Emma helped Regina lay on her lap and run her fingers through her hair.

"Life is unfair."

"So so unfair. My poor baby.."

Emma wouldn't let her go. She kept holding her tight like she was holding the entire universe in her hands. That's how much important Regina was for her.

She stayed awake the entire night making sure that the brunette woman would get better.. Around midnight Regina managed to cry herself to sleep and finally relax. Emma laid down next to her still keeping her close and protectively. Regina's walls were torn apart... she had finally taken off her mask and acted human...

It was going to be okay... Emma was there. And for the first time in forever the queen wasn't alone...
