Regina smiled and nodded her head. The younger boy grabbed a chair and sat down next to her. He placed his feet on the wooden table and stargazed the sky. It was a beautiful night... the tense around the room was slowly eliminating as both Regina and Henry relaxed and got more comfortable on their seats.
"Did you find the bad guy yet?"
Henry broke the silence and not looking at Regina at all.
"No, but I think we are close."
She lied. Things between them were messed up enough. She couldn't just add Robin's unspeakable actions in the conversation right now. Not to mention that Henry was the kind of kid who liked to become curious and seek for answers by himself. In this case that would totally risk his safety and Regina wouldn't take the risk.
They didn't have the relationship they had once upon a time ago, but Regina was still his adoptive mother and she would never stop loving him. The younger boy played with his fingers and finally turned around his head looking at Regina.
"I'm pretty sure you're gonna get to him soon. You're both really good at what you do."
Henry replied and grinned awkwardly.
The brunette woman couldn't hide the grin on her face... she could feel them bonding after a while and that felt good. She had almost forgotten how good it felt to have Henry around.
"I hope so."
She continued and bowed down her head landing her sight on her lap. She entangled her fingers between each other uncomfortably and swallowed hard.
"I'm sorry..."
She finally managed to spit out and looked at Henry in fear of what would follow next. The younger boy didn't seem to be surprise. In fact, he remained excessively calm and relaxed.
"Sorry about what?"
He asked her and narrowed his eyebrows. Regina knew... he was playing games. He wanted to hear her say it. He wanted to hear the sound of regret crushing her voice. There was clearly a mischievous look on his face now, as a smirk spread on his lips.
"I'm sorry for being a pain in the ass all these years. I'm sorry for being a bad mother and a bad role model to look up to. I'm sorry for making you feel unwanted... or even worse crazy. I'm sorry for the pain and misery I caused you and to everyone else. Trust me henry... I'm regretting every single minute of my past. The pain is too much sometimes..."
Henry just nodded his head pretending that he was listening. He crossed his hands behind his head and moved his feet on the rhythm he was murmuring for quite a few minutes now. Regina sat upright, and looked at him with a wary look on her face.
"Henry I'm changed. The woman you knew has nothing to do with the woman you see now."
"I'm pretty sure that's not true. I have heard you claiming that you're changed uncountable times! What makes you think that I'm gonna trust you this time? Especially after so many years."
"You have no idea what pain can do. Intolerable pain turns you into a monster... it can make you do things that you would never even dream of! It blinded me Henry... It made me forget who I was... it made me forget about all the things that actually had value for me!"
"You gotta be prepared for the consequences though. You were going through some stuff obviously but there were so many people that tried to help you and you pushed them away! You hurt us all! You separated us twice and now we are forced to live far away from each other without even knowing where the rest of our family and friends are!"
Regina bowed down her head and swallowed hard while the guilts she was experiencing were eating her alive. How was she supposed to make it up to Henry? He was right after all...he had no reason to trust her.
"I've had enough with being evil and hurting people around me. My new life in New York became my fresh start."
She claimed and looked at him with eyes filled up with tears. Henry examined her face and his face expressions became softer. He knew it was hard for her... he knew that his mother would barely show any sign of negative feelings towards him most of the time so the fact that she was about to cry signaled her luck of strength to keep her brave mask on.
His eyes softened and he reached her hand with his left sweaty palm. He hated seeing her like this. Especially when he was the reason why... maybe he went a little too far.
"Hey... mum..."
He was in loss of words. He had no idea what to say to fix things. He wanted to believe that she was changed... but he knew better than trusting her that easily.
Hot tears run down her cheeks spreading on her face when the front door of the suite opened up. Regina wiped away her tears immediately as Emma walked inside the room while holding a silver salver.
"Why aren't you laying down?"
She frowned and looked at Henry and Regina that were staring at her in silence.
"Something happened?"
Both mother and son nodded their head negatively.
"Emma I appreciate your help but I'm not sick."
"Oh really? You spent the entire night hugging the toilet Gina! Excuse me for thinking that you need a day off. Maybe this case is way too much exhausting for you."
Regina rolled her eyes and stood up following emma towards the king sized bed. The blond woman helped her lay down and placed the salver with the warm plate of soup on her lap.
"Enjoy."
The brunette woman just nodded her head and started eating. A couple of minutes passed in silence when they heard screaming and loud noises coming from the bar area. The former queen looked at emma alarmed and immediately got out of the bed and started getting dressed.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?"
"You heard the noises! I'm not gonna sit down with my hands crossed."
"I can take care of it."
"In your dreams miss swan."
Regina winked playfully and stormed outside of the room. Emma grabbed Henry's hand and rushed downstairs towards the pull area. Regina slowed down her pace as soon as she noticed that the entire area was empty... there was no one there except a pixie haired woman and a blonde man wondering around the area. She narrowed her eyes as she listened to them fight. She seemed pissed. She kept kicking the ground in desperation as the blond man was trying his best to soothe her with his soothing voice.
"Can you calm down for god's sake? They can't kick us out that easily!"
He claimed and held her hand tight in his arms.
"How could you not know? For god's sake today is our wedding anniversary and we are spending our special day wondering around a stupid hotel! You should have known that only LGBTQ members are allowed in here!"
She cried out in frustration and pushed him away.
"I skipped the description on the website.. I'm sorry! I can drive us to another hotel! We can still save the day!"
He tried to make her feel better and pulled her closer again, cupping her cheeks with his palms. The shorter woman seemed to calm down slowly as she kissed his palm and grinned playfully.
Regina paused her pace and looked at emma with a huge frown on her face. Henry raised his sight staring at his mums and frowned confused.
"We should better go... I'm so sorry for ruining our night snow..."
He said and kissed her lips in sadness. Emma froze looking at the couple with wide eyes. Did he just say Snow? Her jaw dropped! She had to make sure! She had to make sure that she had miss heard. She started walking towards them when the short woman turned around and froze looking at the former savior.
Regina took a few steps back... the savior was probably not mistaken at all... it was indeed David and Snow white! And she had no idea how they ended up here. She took a few steps back in denial... she was scared! She was scared to let them see her! They probably hated her like everyone else did.
Henry rushed towards them screaming grandpa and grandma happily.
"Mum?"
Emma spelled and broke down in loud sobs. She cried happy tears of course... her parents were still alive and even though they got separated for once again they managed to find her again! Snow broke down in tears as well and hugged her daughter tight.
David rushed towards Henry and hugged him in lust. The Swan family was finally reunited and happy. Regina felt like she had no reason to be there with them... she was the last person they wanted to see. She left and headed upstairs.
"Emma! Oh my gosh! I can't believe you're here! What are you doing here? Can't believe you're alive! I kept praying and praying for you and henry and now here you are! We found each other! Again!"
Snow screamed in excitement and hugged her daughter even tighter. David joined their group hug smiling in peace. At least he knew that he accidentally gave snow the best anniversary gift.
"I'm here working on a case! I'm an agent now!"
Emma smiled broadly and wiped her tears not leaving her mother's arms for a second.
"Wow! So badass."
David smiled and gave Emma a high five.
"Where's Killian?"
Snow asked excitedly.
"Unfortunately he's back in Boston doing office tasks. He's the chief of our police department so he had to be there! I'm here working with Regina though! Wait I'm gonna get her! REG-"
She turned around and realized that Regina was gone. She looked at Henry and pressed her lips together in curiosity.
"I'll go check up on her."
He whispered at Emma and run away.
"Wait wait! Regina is here? With you? Are you sure that you guys are safe? How could Killian let you work with her?"
David asked slowly panicking.
"She's the best at her job... she's an FBI agent and specializes on the behavior analysis department. I had no idea that she would be that different ... but trust me guys she's a whole different person now. She went through some stuff."
David and frowned and Snow smiled broadly.
"Well that is great! Maybe we can convince her to get us back to storybrooke! Maybe we can find the others and reunite all together again!"
"Mum... storybrooke doesn't exist anymore. Regina ruined it remember? That's why we all are here now."
Snow nodded her head landing back on reality and held David's hands.
"There must be something we can do!"
She insisted.
"Mum... Regina doesn't have her magic powers anymore... plus we are working on a mission right now so it's hard for us to focus on bringing storybrooke back! You guys will have to wait!"
"Emma is right! Since we are here now, maybe we could help."
David replied and smiled in confidence.
"I don't think that that would be a good idea."
"Why not?!? Don't forget me and your father fought the evil queen and dragons in the past! A criminal is easy peasy for us!"
She joked.
"This time I'm afraid that things are not that simple. First of all I do believe that this case has something to do with Regina's past. I doubt that Regina want you guys mixed up in all this."
"Oh come on emma! Since when Regina's denial stopped me from interfering in her business?"
Snow smiled broadly and started walking towards the entrance of the hotel.
"Let's solve this case!"
David followed her walking all heroically and Emma shrugged her shoulders annoyed. She knew that there was nothing she could do to stop her determined mother and father... but Regina wouldn't be happy about it!
In the mean time Regina walked upstairs and bumped on henry! He was running from the other side of the aisle and bumped right on Regina! He held his head in pain and groaned.
"OUCH! Sorry!"
"Whoa whoa! Why are you running?"
"I know I know... no running on the stairs..."
He pressed the bump on his forehead even harder in pain and grimaced.
"Let me check that out."
She kneeled down reaching his height and took a look on Henry's forehead.
"You'll be alright. You're lucky you didn't hit your eye."
Henry forced a smile.
"Why did you leave?"
"It was a beautiful family reunion Henry. I had no place there."
She admitted and unlocked the door of the room using her hotel card.
"But you're family."
"You might forgave me but I bet they haven't!"
She insisted and turned on the lights. Before she got the chance to finish her sentence she gasped astonished and covered her mouth with her hand. Henry hid behind her in disgust and shut his eyes.
"WHO IS THIS?"
He yelled terrified and squeezed his hands on her blouse. Regina approached the dead body hanging from the ceiling and narrowed her eyes.
"I do believe this is Michael. Vanessa's left hand!"
"The manager of the hotel?"
Henry asked in terror and opened his eyes daring to take a look. At the point Emma Snow and David rushed in the room and gasped all in unison.
-To be continued loves!
