Now as Frunze walked into Manfred's hull he could see a lounge looking area with a few chairs and couches, along with a big round table, where currently Nitze and Seydlitz were sitting across from each other, with others sitting around the rest of the table. After a little more looking around he saw Sampson sitting in a corner next to Flint, though Frunze couldn't exactly tell what they were talking about.
He walked up to the table and saw all the chairs were taken so he just decided to go behind where Nitze was. Then he saw Nitze chugging a full glass of beer no problem in one huge gulp, while Seydlitz, who looked to be of German heritage, clearly had to take multiple gulps before she finished even one glass.
The other people sitting around the table were both watching in amazement and were cheering the two on.
Once Frunze was behind Nitze he leaned down on the table a bit and spoke to her casually.
"So how's the challenge going?"
Nitze stopped momentarily as she refilled her glass.
"It's going good" she said cheerfully "I'm on my seventh glass, she's just starting on her third" she said in a completely sober voice.
Now Nitze paused to do the same action of chugging the beer in one huge gulp.
"So what're the rules?" Frunze asked
Now Surrey spoke up "the one who passes out loses and the one who doesn't wins. Seydlitz here is the best of the best of all of us, who can drink the most in one sitting" now she paused as she looked at Seydlitz, just as she finished her third glass and was having it refilled "but from how the little girl is doing, I think Seydlitz might be beat"
Frunze chuckled a bit "well I can see that, Seydlitz will probably soon pass out at this rate. Any bets on this challenge?"
"There're bets between others on who will win or not, but not between the two. I think Seydlitz just wanted to challenge her because no one here is stupid enough to accept her challenges, and she's been wanting to do one of these challenges for weeks"
Now Frunze stayed silent and just watched the competition between the two, even though it was massively one sided. There were cheers from the others pushing the two onward to drink more and for a few more minutes they continued, until when Seydlitz was in the middle of her seventh glass -Nitze by now was on her thirteenth- she dropped her glass, though it didn't shatter on the table, and face planted onto the table, completely passed out. There were a few 'ooh's and 'oof's and other such sounds from the others, as Seydlitz was now passed out on the table.
Then Surrey stood up "seems that we have a winner" now she paused for a moment as she looked at Nitze then back to the others "Nitze of the Arleigh Burke class destroyer has beaten Seydlitz of the Admiral Hipper class cruiser!"
There were a few cheers and some people looked sad as the ones who bet on Seydlitz winning now had to pay their bets, mainly stuff like candy since money is kind of useless for them.
Now Frunze chuckled a little bit at what was happening "well, Nitze I am not to surprised that you won, though now I believe I'll have to go and assist Sanctuary with hybridization of a man who was fished up"
There was a sudden silence from a few of the hybrids which prompted the others to be silent as they looked at Frunze with blank faces. It was quite for a moment till Hudson spoke up in a curious voice "a man is going to be a hybrid?"
Frunze nodded at her question "yes there will be. We captured two humans from the wreckage. A female and a male. Your hospital ship Sanctuary will convert him. The operation is basically the same, just that it uses a Phantom core"
The hybrids were just silent at what Frunze said, as it was hard for them to get over the fact that there was going to be a once human man joining the fleet soon.
Then after about a second or two there were a few 'huh's from the group of hybrids. Though the silence was only broken when Nitze spoke "and what ships are you gonna offer them?"
"I'm thinking of either offering a Mercy class hospital ship for our own ship for turning humans into hybrids, or in the case that they want to actually engage I think an Ohio class submarine would be good"
"Oh, okay" she responded as she turned back to the others "so what do you guys want to do now?"
"How about we play mafia?" Tucson spoke up
Now Diamond spoke "well we probably won't play since we still have some patro-"
Now Diamond was cut off as a message, from Alabama, appeared in front of all the hybrids that informed them that they could have a day of rest today, but that tomorrow would continue patrols.
"Okay never mind I guess" Diamond said
"Well then, what's mafia?" Nitze asked
Now Frunze walked over to the exit "I'm gonna go to Sanctuary to oversee the hybridization of the man"
Most everyone responds with with 'ok' or 'sure' or 'see you later'
Now Frunze made his way over to Sanctuary's ship, again using the hexagonal panels.
Once he reached Sanctuary's ship, which had Nitze's ship right next to it, he jumped onto her deck and started to look around for where she was, even if he didn't know what she looked like. Her ship was a dark cyan color with lighter cyan accents.
He wandered around for a few moments before glowing cyan arrows appeared on the floor, probably towards where Sanctuary was. He followed the arrows and was soon led into a room with some hospital beds, with two of the beds having the captured humans in them.
Though now a female voice spoke out from behind a curtain "I told you before Jenkins that if you shouldn't try claiming that you'r-" she suddenly stopped as she came out to see who she thought was the destroyer Jenkins, But was in fact Frunze.
She was a young woman probably twenty to twenty five years old. She had brown hair that was tied in a ponytail and she had blue eyes. She was dressed in a 40s style blue nurse uniform.
"Um… oh no… Alabama won't be happy about this, there's two men here now. What to do, what to do"
Now she tried to trap Frunze in by making cyan glowing panels appear behind him.
Though Frunze just walked forward calmly and summoned two red data rings around himself to show that he wasn't human.
"Yes I am a man, but if you haven't heard from your flagship, I am the Phantom Battlecruiser Frunze, and I am here to assist you in the hybridization of the man in the bed, to that of a hybrid Phantom. The female will be turned into a Fog Hybrid"
Sanctuary blinked a bit in confusion at what Frunze said and at the data rings floating around him.
"Huh… that's new…" she paused for a moment as she contacted Alabama briefly to see if this was true. After she saw that it was true she spoke again "so… um… how do I do the operation?"
"The operation is the same as the one you'd do normally with females, the only difference is that you'll implant a Phantom core instead of a Fog core"
"And um… do you have the core then?"
"I'll be making one for you to use, while you operate on the female here" now he gestured to the female who was lying in bed currently.
"Oh… ok…" she said, turning around to where the woman lay unconscious, and walked towards her. She then grabbed the edge of the bed and pulled it on a set of wheels through a door to where the operating room was.
After Sanctuary left Frunze sat on the bed next to the man's bed. He then formed a black union core out of some nano materials he had on himself, and started to program it so that it could properly be implanted and function like it should.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Now after about forty-five minutes of him programming the Union core he was almost done working on the core, what happened was that the human man woke up.
He groaned as he leaned up, lifting a hand to his head and slightly rubbed his eyes while he said "ugh, where am I?" The man had brown hair and brown eyes, and looked to be in his mid thirties.
Frunze looked up from programming the core, and looked at the man. Frunze had three red data rings floating around him, since he was programming it. Though now the man looked over at Frunze and for a moment he thought he was dreaming. As he saw Frunze with the data rings floating around him.
"I must be dreaming" he said aloud
"No you aren't dreaming, human" now he stood up and approached the human slowly, de-summoning the data rings, but still holding the union core.
The man's eyes widened and he stammered "y- you're a mental model aren't you?" He asked with fear in his voice.
"I am" responded Frunze "now then, who are you? Your name, your rank, and your ship"
The man gulped nervously "I-I'm Nicholas Grant, Lieutenant Commander of the USS New Miami" he paused momentarily as he regained some of his bearings, though he was still scared since Frunze was so close.
"I see" Frunze said, "well the New Miami is sunk. Now you are aboard the Fog hospital ship Sanctuary, awaiting hybridization"
"Hybrid... ization?"
"It means you'll have a Union core implanted into your body. You'll be able to control a ship like the Fog"
"You're a… Fog?" He asked, as while female mental models had been seen before, he'd never seen a male one, well that's what he thought at the moment. He didn't know Frunze was a Phantom yet.
"No, I am not from the Fleet of Fog, I am from the Phantom Fleet. It is like the Fleet of Fog"
Nicholas gulped nervously again as he said that there was another fleet like the Fog. "S- so, what are the differences?"
"The Phantom Fleet is made up of more modern ships, Arleigh Burke, Nimitz, Queen Elizabeth, Kirov, Gotland, and so on. Most mental models are male, rather than female, though there are some females"
"For- forgive me if I'm rude, but who are you?"
"Frunze, Kirov class Guided Missile Battlecruiser"
"A… Kirov class… Y-you said I'll be turned into a hybrid. What exactly will I do?"
"Well depending on the ship you choose, you can either stay behind with the fleet, or you'll be sent on different missions. Mainly patrol missions, though you might also go to attack certain targets, or sink human ships that try to go out to sea"
"And if I refuse to follow orders?"
"Well once this core is inside you" now he showed the black core that he was holding, to Nicholas, though he didn't give it to him "there'll be a simple kill code I can send to it. Shutting it off. Once it's shut off, the Nanomaterials that will be put into your bloodstream won't know what to do. You'd then die a slow painful death, from blood clots and the like of basically having sand in your bloodstream"
Nicholas was frozen with fear from what Frunze said, and from how calmly he said it. "And let me guess trying to escape right now is useless"
"Da, even if you made it by me somehow, you'd have an entire fleet of Fog Hybrids outside, and even then we're in the middle of the ocean. about a thousand miles from the nearest populated human city"
Nicholas was speechless at what Frunze said about what was outside and that he couldn't get out. He inhaled and let out a sigh that sounded frustrated, but he couldn't do anything about his predicament right now. Though now he did ask.
"Were there any survivors besides me?"
"One woman who lost her arm. She's currently getting operated on by the owner of this ship"
"My god" he said slowly "The Kansas had nearly fifteen hundred crew alone, and they're all just… gone. That… destroyer just appeared out of nowhere and obliterated it like it was nothing"
There was a moment of silence before a door swung open and Sanctuary pushed the bed that the woman was on into the room. The woman now seemed to have a metallic looking robot arm where her original arm used to be.
Nicholas looked nervously between Frunze and Sanctuary. "So… I'm guessing I don't have any way out of this hybridization?"
"The only other way out would be to kill you"
Sanctuary well set the unconscious woman's bed where it used to be, and went over to Nicholas' bed.
"Well, I want to stay alive, so I guess I have to go through it"
"Are you ready sir?" Sanctuary asked Nicholas, nicely.
Nicholas well now took a closer look at Sanctuary and well for a moment couldn't take his eyes off of her, though soon he looked away with a blush on his face. He only answered by nodding his head up and down.
Now Sanctuary turned to Frunze. "So, where is the core that I'll be using?"
"Here" Frunze said as he held out the black union core.
Sanctuary looked at it and could see the same strange Fog like sigil, that was on Frunze's ushanka. it had what looked like lines running through the circle part, and the outermost lines were angled sharply rather than a smooth curve of the Fog Sigil. She took it on her hand, quietly, and pulled on Nicholas' bed. Pushing it to where the operating room was.
Before she fully entered through it she turned to look at Frunze.
"Oh are you going to stay, or are you going to join the others?"
"I think I'll stay here for awhile, while you operate on Nicholas, though perhaps I'll join the others later"
"Alright. If the woman wakes up, while you're here, please inform her of the situation and if she can't get there herself, please transport her to Alabama's ship" Sanctuary responded as she passed through the door.
Frunze just nodded at her, and he could hear the faint sound of Sanctuary and Nicholas talking could be heard by Frunze for a moment as they went to the operating room. Frunze then sat back down on the bed he was sitting on before. Then he started to run simulations of different battle scenarios.
Though after a few minutes Frunze received a message. It informed him that the Ohio of the Ohio class submarine was both recently activated, and was captured by the humans, and is currently on the american west coast.
Though he thought it odd that it was captured and that no distress beacon was activated. He noted this for later, in case he came across the port that it was in.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
A dock in a fjord, in America, hid an Ohio class submarine. The dock was like the ones in Yokosuka in Japan. The ones in America were built underground in an attempt to hide important ships from the Fog.
The submarine had all types of different equipment attached to it for measuring different things and scientists were working on and around it in an attempt to understand it. What they were trying to understand will soon be revealed.
Soon an important looking man in an Admiral's uniform walked up, flanked by people who looked like secretaries. Now as the Admiral reach the person who looked to be the lead scientist he asked
"So Theodor, I am wondering why exactly is this scientific equipment all set up for this old attack submarine?"
The lead scientist, whose name appeared to be Theodor, snapped to attention and gave a salute, along with the other scientists there.
"Well sir, from our findings this submarine isn't what it seems to be. If you'll let me, I can show you one thing that'll show why" Theodor said
The Admiral nodded "at ease, back to what you were doing" he said to the rest of the scientists "show me then"
Theodor stopped saluting and eased up a bit.
"This way" he said as he went down a gangway towards the submarine. The Admiral and the people alongside him followed Theodor down the gangway.
"You see" Theodor started "this ship, isn't human, It isn't of the Fleet of Fog either, but it is similar to the Fog "
The group just stayed quiet as they followed him down the gangway to the hull of the ship.
"Now if you'll do so. Please place your hand on the hull of the ship and you'll see what I mean"
Theodor stepped aside so the Admiral could do so. The Admiral hesitated for a moment but decided to do what Theodor said to do. He placed his hand on the hull of the ship and for a second everything was still, until… glowing orange panels, like normal Fog and Phantom hexagons, flashed from where he placed his hand and spread out across the entire hull. The Admiral along with most everyone was surprised at this action and flinched.
The Admiral stopped touching the hull when he flinched. This caused the orange panels to dissipate over time, and soon it went back to looking like a normal human submarine. Everyone, including the Admiral, was shocked at this sight and was speechless, though Theodor just laughed a bit.
"See? This is why we are studying it. It isn't Fog. All the vessels of the Fog are World War Two era and before. Now this… this vessel, we have identified it as that of an Ohio class attack submarine originally built in 1976"
"I can see," said the Admiral slowly.
"We've yet to access the inside of the ship, but if we can, we can get to its weaponry and its systems. And then we can study those. It could be revolutionary and could change the course of how things are going"
"Is there anything you need?" The Admiral asked
"It'd really only be more funding so we can try to get inside of the hull, and research it closer. The Klein field isn't active so it should be easier to get inside. If worse comes to worse we'll have to bore a hole through the hull to get inside, but then we wouldn't be able to use the ship itself"
"I see… I'll see what I can do to get you those fundings to open this ship up so we can study it more"
"Thank you sir we'l-"
Suddenly the hull started to flash orange panels again, but this didn't appear to have any origin. Most everyone was surprised, even the scientists were surprised at this and started to look if they could gather any information on the ship.
"What the-" Theodor started "did someone touch the hull?!" He then turned to the others and yelled "gather what information we can on it!"
But the other scientists were already doing so, as the ship flashed glowing orange panels all along the length of its hull. Then the lights throughout the entirety of the dock flickered on and off.
The Admiral was nudged back slightly in an effort from one of his Secretaries to get him away from the ship, in case what it was doing was dangerous. But the Admiral just shrugged them away a bit and approached the hull.
Soon he made the action to lay his hand on the hull again, but one of the secretaries spoke "I don't think you should do that, sir"
"Hold on" the Admiral said "let me just see…"
Now he laid his hand on the hull of the ship and suddenly the lights of the dock shut off, including all the other equipment. The only thing lighting the place was that of the orange panels flashing. Though soon it settled off with the hull stayed an orange color, and soon red markings appeared all along the hull of the ship.
There was a mixture of emotions throughout the entire dock. Some were scared, some were curious, others didn't know what to feel.
"This… has never happened before" Theodor said.
There was a moment of silence while the lights were off, but soon the emergency generator kicked in and the lights came back, along with a few other things. When the lights came back everyone stared at the Phantom submarine waiting to see if anything more would happen.
Then someone shouted "look! a girl on the conning tower!"
Everyone looked up and saw a little girl with red hair and orange eyes, staring down, blankly at the Admiral.
Several soldiers on the docks pointed their guns at her and yelled "halt! Don't move!"
But the little girl didn't listen as she disappeared down a hatch in the conning tower.
Then the Admiral spoke "see who that girl is, but don't hurt her. She might have valuable information" now he turned around to leave.
"Sorry if I'm being rude, sir, but what are you going now?" Theodor asked
"To see if I can get more funds for your research on this submarine" the Admiral responded calmly, as he walked off the gangway to the docks.
He was soon followed by his secretaries, and back to his office.
Now there were three soldiers on the deck of the submarine. They held rifles at the ready in case things got violent. They slowly approached the conning tower and climbed up a ladder to the top, There they found an open hatch down into the ship. After climbing down it into the ship they found that it actually seemed to have the layout of an actual Ohio class. After they got into the bridge of the submarine they found the girl staring at a pair of screens that were displaying videos from the Great Battle that occurred in 2039.
The girl wore a white sundress that had orange frills at the bottom of it. She wore a red scarf wrapped around herself, looking quite out of place with her sundress, and she had a white sun hat, not super big, but now super small.
The men pointed their guns at her and ordered "we have you outnumbered and surrendered, come with us peacefully and you won't be harmed"
The girl was silent for a few moments till she spoke in a monotone voice.
"Did you know that a ship like myself could alone cause as much destruction as that happened in this battle oh so many years ago?"
The man from before responded with the same order as before "we have you outnumbered and surrounded, come with us peacefully and you won't be harmed"
The girl just sighed and spoke again "I Wonder what Nimitz will think when he learns of my decision… did you also know that it was of my own will that I ended up here?"
The men just stayed silent and didn't answer her questions. They prepared themselves in case they needed to forcefully bring her in, which was appearing to be highly likely. It was a few seconds before the girl acted. She turned around and looked at them blankly, then she spoke.
"Hmm, I will be coming with you, but do know that I am coming of my own will" she still spoke in a monotone voice like before "oh and do ask your fellows to stop scanning me, it tickles when they do so"
Now they'd leave her ship and the soldiers would escort her to an Interrogation room to see what information she had. All I'll say is that the information was frightening to the humans, but now they had a trick up their sleeve that the Phantom Fleet and the Fleet of Fog will hate as much they hate I-401.
