Now Frunze sat in a concept comms along with Nicholas, though now the room appeared to be a normal white gazebo like it was with so many other mental models.
Nicholas was visibly nervous as he had already been told what he was now meant to do as a hybrid. There was a moment of tense silence as Frunze was silent thinking. Then Nicholas asked nervously
"So um… how do we do this?"
"Well you already know what your job is going to be. Do know that failure to comply with orders given to you will be met with harsh punishment"
Nicholas nodded and said "y-yes sir"
Now Frunze pulled up a red panel in front of Nicholas with three ship choices. They were as listed.
Ohio class attack submarine- equipped with four torpedo tubes. Moderate missile armament, high stealth, and high scanning capability. Capable of deep submergence. High speed and moderate maneuverability.
Baden-Württemberg-class frigate- one dual-purpose, fast firing photon cannon. Small missile armament. Moderate Anti-aircraft armament. High stealth, and moderate scanning capability. Limited submerging ability. Moderate speed and high maneuverability. Small aviation facilities.
Wasp-class amphibious assault ship- large missile armament. Large Anti-aircraft armament. Low stealth, and high scanning capability. Limited submerging ability. High speed and moderate maneuverability. Moderate aviation facilities.
Nicholas looked through the options and seemed to think for a moment.
"Hmm, all these are offensive, so it's between would I rather be patient with an Ohio, be direct with Baden, or be far away from the battle with Wasp"
Nicholas would rather not have to choose what class he would be, but Frunze was patient and would wait till he chose. Though it actually wasn't long till he chose.
"I'll go with the Wasp class"
"Alright, from this moment forward your name is Kearsarge. We'll depart immediately to form your ship, and immediately after that your training will begin"
"Roger that, sir" Kearsarge responded.
Now the concept comms for them closed, and kicked the two out to the real world.
Frunze stood on top of the superstructure of his ship looking out over the hybrids and the two other Phantom ships that currently populated the fleet.
Now he contacted Alabama to inform her that he would be leaving the fleet to form the new Phantom hybrid's ship. While Alabama wasn't his superior, it was necessary so it doesn't cause confusion.
Alabama, I'll be away for a few days while I take Kearsarge to get his ship made, and have him trained. I'll leave Sampson and Nitze in your care till my return. You can send them on any missions you want to
Roger that, Frunze. Could you take Vallejo with you to form her ship alongside Kearsarge?
that is fine, send her over to my ship and I'll set out immediately
roger that
Now after the two newly made hybrids aboard Frunze's ship, he set out to midway, or well… what remained of Midway. The trip wouldn't be too long, only about a day to get there. Frunze made rooms for the two, and for most of the trip it was quite boring, with Frunze off on his own business, and the two hybrids either together, or wandering around Frunze's ship.
Now most of their findings weren't too interesting, mainly just the bridge, and the walkways leading to it, or a room filled with nanomaterials meant for helicopters, and other such things. Though that all changed about twelve hours into their journey.
Kearsarge and Vallejo were walking together on the outside of Frunze's ship on bow near the superstructure. Vallejo was only slightly shorter than Kearsarge, she had short red hair, and blue eyes. Though she seemed to be rather not muscular than Kearsarge, and like mentioned before, her left arm was replaced with a robotic looking one.
They were walking until they found a door to the inside, and well they were curious at what was on and in Frunze's ship, so they just had to take a peek. I mean Frunze didn't tell them not to go anywhere, so it was fine right?... well… perhaps not.
"Ah this door looks like one we can open. Wanna take a peek inside?" Kearsarge asked as he stopped right in front of it.
"Sure let's see," Vallejo answered.
Truth be told both were incredibly bored, and Frunze didn't give anything for them to do while on his ship, besides: eat, talk a bit, and sleep. There wasn't even any equipment for them to exercise with, Well from what they had seen.
Now Kearsarge opened the door slowly and stepped inside. At first it was incredibly dark, and he could barely see anything, still he was able to find a light switch that Frunze had on the wall. When the lights turned on the room that was suddenly lit up didn't look military in any sense. It had pictures on the walls with what looked like a younger version of Frunze alongside other people, though Kearsarge and Vallejo couldn't discern whether they were other mental models, or humans, or hybrids, but they looked happy, and the young Frunze showed emotion in those pictures. In truth Frunze just made himself appear younger, but actually didn't age at all like humans.
"Whoa…" Kearsarge said as he looked around at the pictures.
Some were pictures of Frunze with friends at a party, others were of other people, or activities that he and what seemed like his friends participated in.
Vallejo was just silent as she stared through the room. Though the room didn't just have pictures of Frunze with his friends. There were also posters of different movies, or games, there was a bed in the corner far from the door, though the bed did seem military like as it was very simple and was very neatly made.
"You think these people in those pictures are human?" Kearsarge asked
"I… don't know" responded Vallejo as she looked at a picture of Frunze being kissed on his cheek, by a girl.
"They looked human to me, and if they truly are then that means Frunze has a lot more history than just that of the Phantom Fleet"
Though now Kearsarge came across a folder on a table stand next to the bed. While he knew it was bad to look through other people's things, he was curious about Frunze past now, and his curiosity got the best of him.
He lifted up the folder and looked through it. It had pictures like those on the walls, but it wasn't ones that looked so happy. In one there was what looked to be a funeral with Frunze attending it, and he didn't seem happy. In another There was a group of people around which looked like a house that was blown up, by what Kearsarge couldn't tell, but he could see Frunze's back. As he looked through them more and more he was horrified by what he came across. He looked up at the happier pictures and he could see at least four people who appeared to be Frunze's friends dead, in a mess that is too horrific to describe in words (at least for the rating that is set here). And it didn't look like something that was caused by the Fleet of Fog, or the Phantom Fleet, but like that of humans.
Vallejo looked over kearsarge's shoulder and was horrified at the scenes in the pictures. There was a moment of silence before Kearsarge spoke.
"I think… we should leave this roo-"
Now suddenly a hand reached in from behind Kearsarge and closed the folder, and took it from his grip, setting it back down on the desk, it was Frunze who did so. They couldn't tell if he was angry or not as his face showed no emotions, despite the emotions that appeared from him in the pictures. The two hybrids were scared with what might happen to them since he found out about them looking through his things, things that seemed very private.
Though soon after Frunze set the folder down he spoke.
"Isn't it incredibly rude among humans for someone to look through other people's things without permission?"
The two were in a stunned silence by both what they had seen and Frunze's sudden appearance.
"It would have just been better for you two if you hadn't come in here, or at least not looked through that folder" Frunze said as he walked along through the room looking at the pictures. The Frunze in the pictures seemed very different from the Frunze currently.
It was a few quiet moments till Kearsarge could actually speak.
"I know it is not my business, but… What are all these? And what happened to those people in that image?" He asked growing louder as he spoke, though not to the volume of a yell.
Frunze stopped and turned to look at him, staring blankly into his eyes. Then he sighed and spoke. "Fine, since you're so curious I'll tell you, but don't be angry at me for your own curiousness" now he paused as he gestured to the pictures on the walls "these are images of my past, when I was in the country you know of as the United States of America. I used that time to study humanity, your emotions, society, history, languages. As they say 'he who knows his enemy, and knows himself, shall win a hundred battles'. The first year was glorious, I made close friends whom I loved, and at first I shared in their hatred of the Fog. I wanted the Phantom Fleet to help the humans, and I urged Nimitz to do so, but he told me to wait a year or two to see if I would change my mind" now he paused and seemed to hesitate for a moment "When I and my friends lived in an area near a big city, a terrorist group showed up. The government down scaled them to that of a little street gang, but soon it became clear what they really were. They preached unity to fight the Fog, and I supported it for a while" now as he spoke more they could hear venom growing in his voice. "That was, till they murdered four of my friends. And do you know what their reasoning was?... because they were simply not supporting them, they were supporting another so called unity group. You think the Fog and the Phantoms are bad? We have nothing on what you humans do to each other" now he inhaled and let out a heavy sigh, with most of the venom in his voice disappearing. "And those four weren't even the end of it. Linn-" he suddenly stopped and decided not to continue his thought, deciding to hold back for a moment. "There I answered your question Kearsarge"
The two were quiet upon hearing Frunze's story, and seemed to be thinking about things. They were really speechless at what had happened to him.
Though now he inhaled and turned to them "well? Do you have anything you want to say? If not, then go to your rooms. I'll call for you when we reach the location"
The two thought for a moment and decided for now that it would be best not to say anything and quietly left the room, though Frunze stayed there.

Now the group had made it to the remains of midway island. It looked mostly like a little patch of sand that was still above the water, though it wasn't just a little patch. An artificial island was only a few miles from the remains of Midway. It was built as a military installation, meant to service warships and was a land strip, meant to extend the range of planes for the USA. Though now it was long abandoned and part of it looked destroyed.
Frunze had called up Kearsarge and Vallejo who had spent the last day in their rooms, though had been allowed to talk with each other to pass the time, though weren't allowed to wander around like before.
Now the three of them stood at the bow of his ship as he slowly pulled up to the island.
Now Frunze spoke, as the two were watching the abandoned military base getting bigger and bigger.
"I'll be dropping you off at the remains of Midway island. There you will find silver looking sand on the ground. Touch it and imagine your ships, your processors should take over after a second"
Now Frunze's ship stopped as he was only about hundred yards from it.
"Go one at a time for your ships. For who goes first you can choose"
"Yes sir" Kearsarge responded.
"Ok, Frunze" Vallejo responded.
Now there was a brief moment of silence before the two realized that they were still some ways away from the island.
"So um… how do we get there?" Vallejo asked.
"Make panels under your feet. Or you could swim if you'd like"
"And how do we make panels?"
"It is hard to explain" Frunze said "you just will them to be there"
"Will them?" Kearsarge asked
"Like walking. Though if you don't want to right now I'll summon some panels for you, but you will need to learn it later" Frunze said.
"Yes, please" Vallejo said.
Now Frunze summoned panels going off into the distance towards the island. Kearsarge to a careful step onto one to test its strength and found it as solid as concrete. Soon he stepped onto it and set off walking towards the island. Much the same happened with Vallejo.
After the two got onto the panels Frunze's ship moved away to about a mile from the island. Frunze himself sat on his superstructure looking in the distance at the island. It took a few minutes but soon the bottom of a hull could be seen forming about the water and gradually sinking beneath the water as it was built more and more. Soon after a few more minutes Kearsarge's ship was fully formed and was floating a few hundred yards from the island. Then another hull started to form above the water like before with Kearsarge's.
Then Kearsarge's ship lit up and became a dark blue color, with dark blue accents.
Then Vallejo's ship formed next to Kearsarge's, and was that of a Worcester class light cruiser. Soon after another minute or so Vallejo's ship lit up a green color, with blue accents.
The ships lit up as they had stepped onto their ships. Now soon they both contacted Frunze to say that they were ready.
amphibious assault ship Kearsarge reporting for duty
light cruiser Vallejo reporting for duty
understood Frunze said over comms move to the designated area, then we shall begin
understood both of them responded.
It took a moment for them to figure out how to move, but after a minute or two they figured it out and made it to the designated area. Once they reached the spot they received one final message from Frunze before their training started.
all weapons are allowed except corrosive torpedoes
They were barely ready with their Klein fields when Frunze launched two missiles into the air and flew in their direction.
They panicked a bit since they just started, so the first two missiles impacted their Klein fields. Though admittedly Frunze was going very easy on them since they just started.
how do we fire back? Vallejo asked Kearsarge.
I just pulled up a window for right now Kearsarge said but my guns are too small and don't have the range. I'm just trying to figure out how to- Ah! There I have a jet setup to go
wait we can do that?
apparently
The two at first were sitting still, though soon they realized that wasn't too smart of an idea and started to move so they weren't sitting ducks.
Kearsarge soon launched the plane he made, along with three more, all F-35s that shared his color scheme.
come let's stick together so our AA can work together Kearsarge said.
roger that Vallejo responded just figured out how to control my guns, so… fire!
Now Vallejo's forward guns fired and green laser beams flew at Frunze, with all of them hitting, but just being absorbed by his Klein field. Though now Kearsarge's jets were in the air and he was still trying to exactly figure them out on how to not crash them and how to attack, it was much harder than what Vallejo had to do with just the point and shoot. Vallejo's guns were fast firing so Frunze's Klein field almost constantly glowed.
Though now after a couple moments Kearsarge fired a missile from one of his planes, though he just hit the water. Now he tried to actually hit Frunze with his planes' missiles. Soon their explosions hit Frunze's Klein field, lighting up another part of it. He hadn't been firing his own missiles for a time so the two had it quite easy, that was till he decided to tick the difficulty up a lot.
Now his 30 millimeter CIWS opened fire and almost immediately the four jets were shot down.
what the!? Kearsarge exclaimed
Kearsarge and Vallejo had only been using planes and their guns for the moment and had yet to fire any ship launched missiles at Frunze.
Now they could see four large missiles launch from Frunze's ship, flying high into the sky, before turning back down towards the two and breaking up into multiple smaller missiles.
look out! Lots of missiles coming for us! Kearsarge yelled over comms
I see them! Engaging AA weapons to intercept!
Now Their AA weaponry opened up on the incoming missiles, with many being shot down, but many others impacting their Klein fields.
hold on Vallejo said why are we just using guns and planes? We have tons of missiles!
Now missiles could be seen flying up into the air from Vallejo's ship right after she spoke. Kearsarge responded by firing off his own volley of missiles.
Frunze's CIWS' were blazing away, and anti air missiles were being constantly fired into the air to counter kearsarge and Vallejo's missiles. His ship was now covered in a massive smoke cloud, from the missiles that hit him. Though as his ship sailed smoothly through it, it looked unscathed.
oh you gotta be kidding me! That many missiles didn't even scratch him!? Vallejo exclaimed.
apparently so. It's scary how much punishment a Fog or Phantom ship can take and still appear unscathed Kearsarge said.
well let's see if we can at least put a dent in him. You got any planes left?
yeah I do, but I'll have to stop launching missiles. Though it'd probably be a bad idea to keep our current course
At the moment they were currently sailing towards Frunze ship.
agreed, I'll cover you while you launch your pla-
Now Frunze interrupted them.
the training battle is over, cease fire and pulled your ships alongside mine
roger that they said together
The two did want to continue fighting to try and see if they could at least put a dent in Frunze's ship, but they listened and pulled their ships next to Frunze's.
now then Frunze started with for your first battle it is good, but good can always get better. On our way back to the fleet I want you two to train with your missiles, and your planes
roger that, sir Kearsarge said.
ok Vallejo said.
Now Frunze started to move his ship for the return journey and the other two took formation, one on either side of Frunze's ship.
Now the return journey wasn't too interesting, as Kearsarge and Vallejo focused on training. First using Frunze's helicopters as targets, then after Kearsarge got the hang of his aircraft, they used his.

Now Frunze sat in what looked to be a bar, and across from the table he was sitting at was Nimitz.
"So I have felt that you already have one hybrid" Nimitz said
"That I do. A Wasp class" Frunze replied.
"I see that is very good… well I have called on you like this to talk about something… private that I don't want other people to hear"
Frunze nodded "what is it sir?"
"It is about Ohio. I'm sure you heard it, that she was captured immediately after she woke"
Frunze just nodded in conformation.
"Well, I have gotten reports that indicate the humans have access to her ship and are planning on using her ship for their own purposes"
"Do you want me to retrieve her?" Frunze asked.
"No, not yet. We are still monitoring the situation. But some of us are thinking that she might end up like that defective Fog submarine"
"The I-401"
"Exactly. If it seems like she'll end up looking like that then it'll be best if we simply sunk her, rather than trying to retrieve her"
"Then what do you want me to do?"
"I want you to continue the hybrid program. I'm going to meet with the supreme flagship of the Fog personally, so we can operate together more effectively. Then I'll be activating the First Northern Fleet, along with Mercy, who'll continue the hybrid program, preferably in the Atlantic, though that'll change depending on how the meeting goes"
"I see. Is there anything else?"
Nimitz shook his head "no, that is all"
"Alright, then I'll be going"
Now Frunze disappeared leaving Nimitz by himself.
He sighed then spoke aloud to himself "Well then, let's see how things goes"
Now suddenly a woman joined him in the concept comms, but the room also changed, to that of what looked like a meeting room.
"Ah, it is a pleasure to meet you, Yamato" Nimitz said.
"And it is a pleasure to meet you, Nimitz" Yamato replied.
"Coffee?" Nimitz asked as two cups of coffee appeared on the table.
"No thank you, I prefer tea"
"I see" now one cup of coffee disappeared, and a cup of tea replaced it. Now he reached out and took the other cup of coffee and put a little sugar in it and stirred it for a moment. "Sorry if I interrupted something, but I figured that it is quite important for us to meet and talk about certain things. For the betterment of both The Fleet of Fog and The Phantom Fleet"
"No you didn't interrupt anything. Though I do want to know what it is that you wish to talk about"
"Well I'm sure you have heard from your own ships that the Phantom Fleet hasn't yet fully activated, with only two Arleigh Burke class destroyers and one Kirov class Battlecruiser currently in active service"
Yamato just nodded at this.
"Well currently I and the flagships below me are currently organizing the activation of the rest of the fleet. And it'd be best if we discussed how to organize the blockade, as it would be very bad if we didn't. At best it'd just be confusing for our two fleets. At worst I could see it turning into a few battles, or… the Fleet of Fog and the Phantom Fleet end up fighting against each other all out"
"Yes I can see why you say that. It wouldn't be good if our fleets fought"
Now the two of them talked about things that are currently unimportant but will be mentioned later on. All that I'll say for now is that they were able to come to an agreement on how their two fleets should work together.
Author's note: just so you know I've made a few sigils for this story and uploaded them to my deviantart account, and I'm planning to make a few ships as well. If you're interested then you can find me there as mightyeagle2091.
Also I'm gonna take a bit longer on chapter five and six because of the holidays, so I'll be uploading those two together after Christmas.
Anyways! See you next time.
