Happy One Year Anniversary!
Alexander
"There's no way she can get away with this," Alexander said. "This woman is mental."
Alexander, Lex, and Kaleb were just heading back from the clinic after the aftermath of the fight. Compared to the girls, their fight wasn't nowhere near as brutal, however they still thought they should get checked out just in case. Their injuries were relatively light.
"I'm calling my mom right now," Kaleb said.
As he pulled out his phone, the three heard a low chuckle behind them. They turned to see Ms. Morningstar standing before them, a cocky grin on her face.
"Don't worry boys, I already contacted your parents. I simply told them that the MSA was starting a rehabilitation program to help reform underprivileged youths and would-be villains by giving them opportunities in the school to benefit themselves and become productive heroes." Ms. Morningstar said.
Lex glared at her. "You left several details out. Like the part where those two tried to kill our friends or are working for the guy who attacked us at Homecoming."
Amanda shrugged. "I believe people can change. After all isn't being a hero all about believing that people can be better?" She said.
Alexander hated how she made it seem like Addy and Quirk Killer didn't try to kill them almost an hour ago.
"What about Mrs. Zambiea?" Kaleb suddenly said. "Did something happen to her?"
"She is currently on a business trip on behalf of the school. In the meantime, Quirk Killer will be your instructor until then. I mean, what better way to learn to fight villains then from an actual villain? You children don't need to know any more adult business."
One look at her eyes, and the three of them all knew what she was really trying to say was:
Stop asking questions. It's none of your goddamn business
"Now hurry along boys, you wouldn't want to miss lunch." She said in a rather condescending tone.
She walked off, leaving the three by themselves.
"Every day I feel like she gets even more terrifying." Kaleb mumbled.
"Ja, tell me about it," A voice said.
Already on edge, the boys jumped, startled by the new presence and not ready for another fight. They spun and around were surprised to be greeted with the white-haired boy from earlier.
"Um…hello." He said muttered.
Alexander waved awkwardly. "Hey."
The boy gave a small, awkward smile. "My name is Fritz Dietrich, I'm new to this school." He said.
"My name's Kaleb, nice to meet you," He greeted.
Alexander followed suit. "I'm Alexander."
Lex however did not seem enthusiastic to see the boy.
"Shouldn't you be with Addy?" Lex asked.
"Don't be like that." Kaleb told him. "I don't think he knew what she was up to."
Fritz blushed. "Ja, I just met Addy, I wasn't aware she was…unique."
"If by unique you mean a psychopath, then yes she is very unique." Alexander sighed.
"I just wanted to clear the air. I don't see you guys as enemies. Today was all a really big misunderstanding." Fritz said.
Lex scratched the back of his head with a visibly embarrassed look. "Yeah, I guess I really jumped to conclusions. Sorry about attacking you, I promise I'm not usually like that."
"You're never like that," Kaleb retorted.
"It's just sometimes, I go crazy over Faith," Lex mumbled.
Fritz raised an eyebrow. "Oh, is Faith your girlfriend?"
Both Alexander and Kaleb stifled a laugh and looked away. Lex seemed to have been unaware.
"She's my…Faith." Lex said.
"I don't get it, is that American slang?" Fritz asked.
Alexander chuckled. "Fritz right? We're actually going to get some food so why don't you come eat with us? We'll catch you up on everything that's happened this year."
Fritz eyes seemed to light up when he heard that. "I would love that actually." He said.
Kevin
"Just talk to me." Kevin pleaded.
He and Jarret were currently sitting in their room. Well Kevin was sitting; Jarret was pacing so hard he was going to tear a hole in the floor.
"Just quiet please, my head is buzzing." Jarret groaned.
The brunette placed his index fingers to his temples in a weak attempt to ease the throbbing pressure he felt building up in his head.
"I think my brain is going to explode." Jarret sighed.
Kevin frowned. Whatever was going with Jarret had to do with Quirk Killer. Jarret wasn't just scared of that man; Kevin could tell he recognized him. It was a familiar kind of fear.
"You know you can tell me anything right." Kevin said.
Jarret looked up at Kevin, his brown eyes meeting Kevin's red. His normally tan skin was pale and clammy. He looked sick. If Kevin had to guess the boy hadn't been sleeping.
"I need to leave the school." Jarret announced.
Although Jarret was speaking to Kevin, it almost felt like he was speaking through him. Like his brain couldn't process Kevin was in the room with him. Kevin gulped. Jarret couldn't leave. He needed him. He was his first real friend. His only real friend.
"You can't leave." Kevin said.
Jarret shook his head. "That guy…I know him. And if he's here it's only a matter of time before he kills me."
"I would never let that happen." Kevin hissed.
It was true. Kevin wasn't a killer; however, he was aware of who he was. He knew he would do anything to protect Jarret. Anything.
"I can't Kevin. I've been running from him my entire life. My entire life." Jarret repeated.
Kevin frowned. "How do hell do you know some D-list supervillain?"
"It's complicated." Jarret sighed.
Kevin shook his head.
"It's not. Whatever he is, when can fight him together." Kevin frowned.
"That's rich." Jarret snorted.
"What are you talking about?" Kevin asked.
"Kevin, I'm the school's laughingstock. The hero that's scared to save people and runs away the moment villains start popping up, I won't be confronting my demons anytime soon." Jarret said.
Kevin frowned. He grabbed Jarret's arm and pulled the boy close to him. He didn't understand how Jarret could think so little of himself when Kevin thought he was everything. He was the kindest person he knew. Everyone made mistakes, no one deserved for it to define them. Jarret didn't deserve to be hated. He wasn't a monster. He was just a normal boy. A normal boy whose hair smelled nice. And who had really soft skin. And adorable brown eyes that made Kevin want to melt.
Suddenly Kevin realized his thoughts shifting and let go of Jarret's arm and gulped.
"I think you should reconsider all of this," Kevin said. "Running away won't solve your problems."
Jarret sighed.
"You're right. You always are." Jarret smiled weakly.
He pulled Kevin in for a hug and grinned. Kevin tried his best not to wrap his arm around the boy and squeeze him. He also tried very hard not to notice how nice his hair smelled.
"What did I do to deserve a friend as a great as you?" Jarret said.
Kevin tried not to feel hurt by the word friend. He and Jarret were great friends. He loved their friendship. He also tried not to think to much about how much he wanted to kiss Jarret.
"Am I interrupting something?" A voice said.
The boys pulled away and turned to see who was at the door. Standing there with a delicate smirk on her face was none other than Cindy.
"So the rumors are true, you guys are gay." Cindy chuckled.
Kevin's face darkened. Where did she hear that? Who told her?
"I'm not gay!" Kevin snapped.
Cindy jumped back, seemingly shocked by his reaction. She then giggled. "Sorry didn't mean any harm, it was just a joke." She said.
If Kevin's face turned red, it would be now. "I knew that."
God he made a complete fool of himself.
"I just came because I wanted to invite you guys to a party." Cindy said.
Jarret turned to look at Kevin skeptically.
"Like us specifically?" Jarret said.
Cindy rolled her eyes. "Duh. Next week is Valentine's Day and I'm throwing a stoplight party."
"What is a stoplight party?" Kevin asked.
"It's an easy concept. You either go dressed in red, green, or yellow. Red means you're in a relationship, yellow means that you're single but you have a crush on someone, and green…"
Cindy licked her lips as she eyed Jarret up and down. "Well green means you're down for whatever."
"I really hope you guys will come; I have this beautiful thong that I really want to show off. Well catch you guys later." Cindy said.
She walked out of the boy's room leaving them alone. Jarret turned to look at Kevin. "How great is that? We just got personally invited to a party by a hot girl."
Kevin raised an eyebrow. "What happened to you being to traumatized to even function."
"Kevin, did you hear the part about her in a thong? My trauma can wait." Jarret smirked.
Sarah
"I feel so fucking fat." Sarah gagged.
Currently, she and her mother were sitting in the obstetrician's office waiting for their name to be called. Sarah was struggling to keep her pregnancy a secret, she got bigger every passing day and she couldn't hide behind baggy uniforms forever. She had to lie to Fouzia about being bulimic to cover up her morning sickness. For the past week, she was pondering about whether she should tell her. It was only a matter of time till eventually, her chubby stomach was going to grow like what it really was.
"Are you excited? We're going to find out the gender today," Shaylin said.
"Yeah…" Sarah wanted to feel excited. I mean she was supposed to feel excited, finding out the gender of your baby was supposed to be an exciting thing. However, all Sarah felt was depression. This baby was a constant reminder of Matt, of the kind of person he was, of what he would do to her. The memories of him are what kept her up at night. He had been dead for weeks, but she still didn't feel safe. Yesterday she had spilled a cup of orange juice and she flinched. She remembered when she accidently spilled something on Matt's costume, and he repaid her with a punch.
"At least you'll be leaving school soon," Shaylin offered.
Sarah continued to ignore her mother. Leaving school only made her feel worse. Sarah knew the majority of her class didn't like her. Most of them pitied her. She was the mean girl with no friends and the abusive boyfriend who died. Sarah had no one to blame but herself. She pushed everyone away with her cruelty, even the ones who genuinely tried to be her friend. Now she was alone with a child. However, Fouzia and Aurélie had been there for her through thick and thin. They were the closet things she had to friends.
After the fight today, it became even more clear to Sarah that she had to leave the MSA. It wasn't safe for the baby; fights were breaking out almost every day. What if villains came back? Best to just move on before anyone noticed.
"Sarah Smith?" The obstetrician called.
Sarah perked up. "That's me."
"You two can follow me." She said.
She was a pretty red-haired woman who seemed full of life. She was probably perfect for this job. Maybe she had enough excitement for the both of them. She led Sarah and Shaylin to a little office on the side of the building.
"So how are you ladies doing?" She asked.
Sarah frowned. "Bloated."
The doctor was rather understanding and smiled softly, "That's pretty normal." She said. "Well, I'm Dr. Blanco, if you don't mind, you can go ahead and lay across the table so we can get started."
Sarah sighed and climbed on top of the table. She had seen enough TV shows to know what happened next. She lifted her shirt up to reveal her belly, which was already starting to swell.
"I remember when I found out your gender," Shaylin said dreamily. "I knew you were special right then. Your father was ecstatic. He desperately wanted a daughter."
"It's nice to know you guys cared about me when I was a fetus, if only you two cared about me now." Sarah said.
Shaylin frowned. "I always loved you."
"True." Sarah said bitterly. "You just loved Nathan more, and Juan, and Peter, Jason, Anthony, Greg, and Steven. There was that one stripper from Queens. That one real estate agent with a wife and kids. Basically, every guy you ever dated. You always put them before me."
Shaylin sighed. "I'm here now."
"Yeah, thanks for showing up after I got knocked up, really I appreciate it." Sarah snapped.
Dr. Blanco cleared her throat. "I understand you're a little overwhelmed. The hormonal changes during a pregnancy will result in mood swings," She said. "But I must ask that you try to be relaxed during this time. Any stress and anxiety can be harmful to the baby."
"Sorry." Sarah blushed and turned to face the woman. She had forgotten she was in the room.
"May I start now?" She asked.
"Go ahead." Sarah said.
The woman pulled a white tube. She aimed it for Sarah's stomach and squirted a clear gel on her belly. It was cold at first and then turned warm. Next, she grabbed a silver cylinder with a clear scope on it. She placed the cylinder on Sarah's stomach and slowly began to rub it in. The monitor next to them began to show the contents of her belly.
"So, is it a boy or a girl?" Shaylin asked excitedly.
Sarah rolled her eyes. "You do know that I'm the one that's pregnant right?"
"Just a couple of minutes and we'll know the gender." Dr. Blanco said.
Sarah sighed and put her head back. She wondered what Matt would say if he was here right now. Would he be happy? Would he angry be at her?
"You might be happy to know it's a boy." Dr. Blanco smiled.
The moment she said that it felt like Sarah's heart had stopped. She never really thought about the gender of the baby to deeply. But now that she knew…what if this baby grew up to be like Matt? Sarah shook her head; she couldn't let that happen. She could not let someone so innocent turn into a monster.
"Oh dear." Dr. Blanco's face fell.
Sarah stopped and turned to face Dr. Blanco. "What? Is something wrong?"
"No, it's just…" Dr. Blanco trailed off.
She smiled weakly.
"I found another heartbeat." She said.
Sarah frowned. "What does that mean?"
"It means you're having twins. Twin boys." Dr. Blanco said.
Kaleb
"So wait, this Jake guy attacked you at the football game in front of the entire school…and he only got a one week suspension?" Fritz asked.
"This school is a shit show." Lex sighed. All four of them busted into laughter.
The three boys sat at lunch getting to know their new classmate. Despite the initial bad first impressions, Fritz seemed to look past it and the four got along conversating. The three of them caught Fritz up on the school year and most of everything that happened. Fritz told them how he was from a hero school in Germany taking part in an exchange program.
Fritz turned to Kaleb. "And you're fine with this?"
Kaleb shrugged. He was still trying to figure out how to process what happened. His second left arm was in a lot of pain and he couldn't move it. Surprisingly, it was the first time he had ever broken a bone in his body. To make matters worse, the cast was itchy and uncomfortable as hell. With the fracture he suffered, most people would take about two months to heal, but the doctors said he should be back to normal in 2-3 weeks. He was advised to refrain from any form of physical activities until he fully recovered, meaning he would have to skip practices and possibly hero training. Although considering the new teacher, he wasn't completely opposed to that now. Truth was, he was more worried about Jake. Well maybe not necessarily worried about the boy but rather curious about why he attacked him. He always thought he and Jake were friends. Not as close as he was with Lex and Alexander, but closer than most. They had been on the team together all year.
But the person he saw at the football was different. It was not the Jake he knew. What disturbed him was that it wasn't anger he saw. In fact, when Kaleb looked into his eyes he only saw one thing…fear. He feared what that boy knew, and he was scared that everyone would find out.
"Hey guys."
The four boys turned to see Aurélie standing at the end of their table with her lunch. Their eyes turned to see her bandaged right arm.
"Hey, are you feeling alright?" Lex said.
Aurélie chuckled slightly. "It stings a lot but it's not as serious as it looks. Mind if I sit with you guys"
"Sure," Kaleb smiled.
"Thanks." Aurélie said.
She looked at the empty seats.
"Don't Faith and Fouzia usually sit here?" Aurélie asked.
"Well Faith's not speaking to me." Lex sighed.
"And Fouzia's not speaking to me." Alexander grumbled.
"And Faith and Fouzia aren't speaking to each other." Kaleb informed.
Fritz looked like he was struggling to keep up with all the names. "And Faith is the girlfriend of the dead guy, Matt right?"
"No, that's Sarah, Faith is Lex's best friend who he was secretly in love with but never acted on because he didn't want to damage their friendship. So, he started hanging out with Sarah which made Faith and Matt jealous which led to several rivalries that resulted in a class civil war." Alexander said nonchalantly.
Lex frowned. "Come on, that's not exactly what happened."
"That is literally what happened." Aurélie chuckled. She then turned to face Fritz.
"I'm sorry, you must be our new classmate. I apologize for the absolute worst first impression. "
"Not at all. I understand that you all went through a lot. My name is Fritz by the way, nice to meet you."
Aurélie smiled. "I'm Aurélie. Although I'm sure it won't be long till you'll be hearing about me."
"Why is that? Are you famous?" Fritz asked.
Aurélie laughed bitterly.
"Oh, you have no idea. If you read the graffiti on the bathroom walls, I'm the school's slut." Aurélie said sarcastically. Fritz was thrown off by the way she said it.
Kaleb frowned. "Please don't call yourself that."
"It doesn't make a difference either way." She replied.
He felt bad for Aurélie, as he only heard about what happened to her in passing. He tried to stay out of the school drama, however when he heard about what happened to her, he couldn't help but be furious. Aurélie was such a friendly and sweet girl, she didn't deserve to have the most intimate part of her shared with half the school and on top of that be tormented because of it.
"Yeah, who cares what people say?" Alexander said.
Aurélie sighs. "It's easy for you to say Alexander, everyone likes you."
"That is not true." Alexander said.
"You are very likeable, like a puppy." Lex agreed.
"So likeable I can't get Maryanne or Fouzia to answer my texts." Alexander sighed.
Kaleb nudged his shoulder with his elbow. "In her defense you pushed her away."
"It's complicated," Alexander frowned and looked away.
"You couldn't keep your eyes off her during her cheer routine. Doesn't sound that complicated to me." Lex suddenly said.
"I was not!" Alexander objected.
Aurélie pulled her camera out of her purse. "I have photos that show different. You really looked lovestruck."
"Please stop already." Alexander was at his wits end and covered his hands in embarrassment while the three were laughing at his expense.
Kaleb patted his back to cheer him up. "I'm certain it'll work out bud. She's a sweet girl."
Fritz took a swig of chocolate milk and eyed Alexander curiously.
"So, are you dating Fouzia or Maryanne?" Fritz asked.
"Maryanne...obviously." Alexander frowned.
Frit raised an eyebrow. "Then why do you care what Fouzia thinks? Shouldn't Maryanne be your top priority?"
"You know Fritz, I like you." Aurélie chuckled.
Alexander shook his head. "Maryanne's my girlfriend and Fouzia is my best friend. Simple."
"I thought I was your best friend." Kaleb said pretending like he was devastated.
Lex turned to Kaleb. "I thought I was your best friend."
"You're like a brother to me." Kaleb reasoned. "I thought you were Faith's best friend."
Aurélie chimed in. "I thought Faith was Fouzia's best friend?"
"I thought Alexander and Hunter were the best friends in the group?" Fritz asked.
Everyone at the table froze. Their eyes snapped toward Fritz. Kaleb stopped smiling and clenched his fists. Just hearing that name made his blood boil. Hunter caused so many problems for them. He almost got the entire class killed. He couldn't believe he ever saw him as a friend.
"Who told you about Hunter?" Lex asked. They never told him about Hunter or what he had done.
"Addy mentioned him while we were walking, she gave me the general synopsis, but it was still confusing. So where is Hunter by the way? Am I in his seat?" Fritz asked.
"He doesn't get a seat at this table." Kaleb snapped.
Alexander frowned. "Kaleb,"
Aurélie turned to Fritz and whispered in his ear. "Hunter was their best friend and Alexander's roommate. However, it turns out the entire time he was working with the villains."
"Oh, so that's why you guys have trust issues…that's understandable." Fritz mumbled. "I didn't mean to make things anymore awkward."
Lex cleared his throat, desperate to change the subject.
"So Aurélie, what made you want to sit with us?" Lex said.
Aurélie turned to face Kaleb. "I wanted to check up on you."
"Me?" Kaleb asked.
Aurélie nodded. "I felt bad after what Jake did, and I never got a chance to tell you."
"Thanks, I really appreciate that." Kaleb said.
"You're welcome." Aurélie smiled.
Just as she was about to say something else, her phone buzzed.
"Hold on, I'm getting a text." She said.
She reached into her purse and pulled out her phone. The moment she read the recipient; she felt her blood run cold. Her skin turned pale and she felt like she was about to throw up.
"Oh my god." She gasped.
Lex frowned. "What's wrong? You look pale."
"It's Diego…he texted me." Aurélie said.
Lex
"I should go," Aurélie said.
"Do you want to talk about it?" Lex asked.
Aurélie shook her head. "I'll catch up with you guys later."
With that she grabbed her purse and walked away from the four boys.
"Who's Diego?" Fritz asked.
"Bad news." Kaleb said through gritted teeth.
Alexander turned to face Fritz. "At the beginning of the school year, Aurélie sent Diego some…private pictures. And he returned the favor by sending it to his friends…who sent it to their friends and I'm sure you can fill in the blanks."
"Asshole." Fritz snorted.
Lex nodded. This year had been crazy he could only imagine how Fritz felt coming into all of this.
Fritz stood up and grabbed his tray. "Well, I should probably get going, there's a lot of books I need to check out from the library." Fritz sighed.
Kaleb waved goodbye with his five good hands. "It was nice meeting you."
"Likewise, see you three in class." Fritz said.
Lex had to admit he had the guy wrong. He was actually a really nice kid. Perhaps they could even be friends.
"I should get going to, I'm partnered up with Fouzia for the science project." Kaleb sighed.
Alexander looked up at Kaleb hopefully.
"Will you tell her I said hi?" Alexander asked.
Kaleb sighed. "I think it's best to just give her space."
Alexander nodded. By the look of defeat on his face Lex guessed he agreed with Kaleb.
Lex looked at his watch. He should get going too if he wanted to make it to his next class on time.
"I'll talk to you later Alexander." Lex said.
Alexander sighed and waved. "On my own as usual." He muttered under his breath.
Lex frowned. It was obvious Alexander was dealing with a lot. He and Victoria seemed to be the only ones that were able to get back to their normal lives after what happened at Homecoming. Fouzia and Sarah spent all their time in their rooms and Alexander seemed to be slowly self-destructing. Lex couldn't blame him.
It was Alexander's idea to lie to the police. Perfect Alexander, the one that was always looked at as the nice kid. Lex figured Alexander's world was probably crumbling. However, Lex tried not to think too much about it. He tried not to think about Matt at all. It wasn't because it made him feel bad, quite the opposite, he just didn't feel anything, something that concerned him. He was a part of a murder coverup. He should be a wreck, yet for some reason he couldn't find it in himself to care.
As he was walking out of the cafeteria, he saw a poster on the bulletin board. It read it bold red letters:
BAND AUDITIONS TODAY AND TOMMOROW AFTER SCHOOL, COME JOIN THE NEXT BIG SENSATION!
"No way." Lex smiled a chance to show off his guitar skills, he was totally in.
"You interested freshmen?" A voice said.
Lex turned to see a boy behind him. He was tall and lean with a blond undercut and piercing blue eyes.
"Yeah, I play guitar," Lex smiled.
The boy grinned. "Awesome."
He looked Lex up and down and smirked.
"You're in Class Z aren't you? Man it seems the only thing everyone talks about is you guys." The boy chuckled.
He held out his hand. "I'm Lance by the way."
"Alexander, but everyone calls me Lex." Lex shook his hand.
"Well, I can't wait to see you in auditions, having someone as well-known as you would be great for the band's image. Not to mention, you have that iconic boy band look." Lance said.
"Uh thanks?" Lex said.
Lex raised an eyebrow. He was well known, since when? Plus, he wasn't sure if he should have been flattered or offended that Lance thought he looked like a boy band member.
Lance nodded. "See ya at auditions. Bring that hot classmate of yours, the one with the braids."
Lex smirked, that must have been why Lance wanted him in the band, he wanted to get close to Victoria. If only Lance knew what he was getting into. Sure, Victoria was pretty, but she was also about as stable as a machine gun. Her personality definitely wasn't one of her charm points.
"Look pal, Victoria's-"
"Victoria?" Lance interrupted. He chuckled. "Bud, I was talking about Kevin."
Lex's face fell. That was a plot twist.
"Oh...cool? I'll ask him if he wants to come." Lex said.
"Great, see you then." Lance smiled.
Faith
"Stop staring at him." Cleo said.
Faith was pulled out of her thoughts to turn to face Cleo. Had the girl caught her staring at Lex?
"Sorry about that. What were you saying?" Faith said.
Cleo placed her arms on the table and looked at her. "Listen sweetie, the whole longing for him from afar act, it was cute the first couple of weeks, but now it's gone full on stalker creepy. You've known him for years, either talk to him or forget about him." Cleo said.
Faith sighed. The two girls were currently sitting at lunch, poking away at their salads. Neither of them seemed to have a large appetite.
"I'll take that into consideration. Where's Aero?" Faith asked.
Cleo grimaced. "In her room depressed. She broke up with Jake. I tried to comfort her but she wanted to be alone."
Faith winced sympathetically. Given the fact she had been navigating these last couple of weeks without Lex, she felt Jake's pain. Faith looked up at Cleo's face and saw that she didn't seem to possess the same sense of sympathy.
"I know it's not a competition. I mean Aerolynn's my girlfriend and Jake's a pig, so there's no chance that they will ever hook up." Cleo sighed.
Faith raised an eyebrow. "But…?"
"But it feels like a competition. Even when we're dating, I still feel like I have to fight for her to want to be with me." Cleo said.
"Have you tried talking to her?" Faith said.
Cleo nodded. "We already talked about it once, I can't bring it up again without seeming like a crazy possessive girlfriend."
"I wish I knew how to help you, but my own life is in shambles." Faith said.
Cleo's eyes seemed to light up. "Maybe you and I can go out tonight?"
Faith raised an eyebrow. "Um…"
Cleo laughed. "Completely platonic, a girls night might help me get over my stress and you to stop thinking about Lex." Cleo said.
"I would love to, but I can't I'm hanging out with my friend Edward." Faith said.
Cleo rolled her eyes. "You're ditching me for your new boyfriend."
"He's not my boyfriend." Faith scoffed.
"Are you sure he knows that? You guys text and hang out all the time." Cleo said.
"He knows I still have feelings for Lex," Faith frowned.
"Are you sure he knows that or do you just want to think that so you can still be friends with this rando without having the far that you're leading him on." Cleo said.
Faith frowned. "I don't know."
She looked up at Lex who was talking to a tall blond boy. She smiled weakly. She missed talking to him.
"I'll be right back." Faith said.
Cleo looked up at the girl as she made her way across the cafeteria to Lex.
"Hey," Faith smiled.
Lex turned to face her and grinned. "You're talking to me."
"Temporarily I suppose." Faith sighed.
Lex frowned and walked over to her. He placed his fingertips on Faith's forehead causing her to wince.
"You're hurt," He said.
Faith shrugged. "Just a hit from Addy. I barely felt it. You know I heal quickly."
Lex shook his head. "Rehabilitation my ass. I can't believe Ms. Morningstar is letting her in the class."
"Well, they're both crazy bitches so I'm sure they have a lot in common." Faith said.
Lex chuckled. Faith smiled; she missed his laugh. Her eyes wandered over to the poster behind him.
"You're joining a band?" Faith said.
Lex blushed. "Well, I still have to go to auditions."
"Lex, you'd be great." Faith said.
Lex smiled. "Well maybe if I had a great singer with me, I would feel better."
Faith raised an eyebrow. "Well I guess you better look for one."
"I mean you." Lex said.
"I can't sing." Faith argued.
"Bullshit, you sing like a Disney Princess. Remember that talent show in middle school?" Lex said.
Faith blushed. In middle school Lex signed up to do the talent show. He prepared a song to sing with his guitar and talked about the performance for weeks. However, the night of the talent show he choked on stage. He didn't even play a single note, he just stared at the audience in fear, Faith felt so bad for him she did the only thing she knew how to do. She went up to the stage and helped him. She heard Lex practicing so much she knew the lyrics by heart. Once she started singing Lex started to loosen up and was able to perform.
Faith smiled; it was one of her fondest memories.
"I don't think we're there yet." Faith said.
Lex frowned. "Why not?"
"We can't be friends again till I stop liking you." Faith said.
"Why?" Lex asked heartbroken.
"Lex, I was willing to hurt Sarah out of jealousy and to be honest I can't be certain I won't do it again. And that scares me cause all my life I felt like I was a good person, then I come here and it's like everything's changed. I want to go back to being the old Faith, the girl that helped you sing at the talent show. Until then I think we need to stay apart." Faith said.
Lex sighed. "I understand."
He looked at Faith with watery eyes and a dim smile.
"But what if I don't want you stop liking me? Because I don't know if I could ever stop liking you." Lex said.
Faith gulped. She had wanted to hear those words ever since she was little. She had been in love with Lex since the first time they met. That's all she wanted to hear, that she was his one and only. But things were different now. Now she didn't deserve his love. Not after what she did to him.
Just as Faith was about to open her mouth, yelling could be heard. Faith and Lex turned to see two boys arguing on the other side of the cafeteria. Or rather one boy, a muscular jock wearing a letterman's jacket, was yelling and the other boy, a scrawny timid teen, was taking the verbal abuse.
"What the hell?" Faith growled.
After the jock was done yelling at the boy, he shoved him onto the table, his side slamming to the wooden edge. Faith balled up her fists and growled. They were supposed to be training to be heroes, that boy had no right to push someone around. When she was done with him, he would be begging for a chance to apologize.
As the jock was turning to walk away, he slipped, his foot tripping on air. After that everything seemed to be in slow motion. The jock's body slammed into the floor, creating a loud thud. His right leg seemed fine however his left leg however…his left leg was twisted behind him like a pretzel. His shin bone jutted out to the side of his flesh causing the boy to scream in agony.
Faith covered her mouth in shock. Students around her began to scream and panic, some went to get help, others stood paralyzed like her. Faith slowly turned to look at Lex. His eyes were glowing. Faith gulped. Did Lex really just use his quirk on him? Not to mention it was a severe one. What was disturbing was that Lex looked completely apathetic. Whenever he used his quirk he usually wore a face of guilt afterwards. Now, his face was blank and void of any emotion.
"Lex, tell me you didn't do that?" Faith asked.
Lex slowly turned to face the girl. He raised an eyebrow, his eyes still glowing.
"Do what?"
Maryanne
Alexander: I'm sorry…can we talk?
Maryanne sighed as she put her in her pocket. A part of her wanted to talk to him. She missed him so much it hurt. Yet if she were to talk to him, she felt like she would have to tell him the truth. The truth about where she came from, and that was something she wasn't ready to talk about, not even to Victoria.
It had been a long and stressful day. She just wanted to go in her room and snuggle up with the recent volume of Vampire in the Wind she just bought. She sighed and opened her door and was greeted with a foul smell.
"Victoria? Did you find some more of Hunter's weed?" Maryanne called.
She walked into her room and turned around to face her bed. Maryanne screamed at what she saw. Crimson colored liquid dripped down her walls. A part of her wished it was paint, but given who did it, Maryanne knew it was blood. She only hoped it wasn't human blood. She gagged at the sight of it and held back the urge to vomit.
However, it was what the words spelled out that scared her the most: Peek-A-Boo, I SEE YOU
Fouzia
"You're back late." Fouzia observed.
Sarah sighed as she plopped down on mattress.
"It's been an eventful day." Sarah remarked.
Fouzia nodded. "A supervillain is our teacher and Addy is in our class."
"And here I thought this class could only handle one crazy bitch." Sarah smirked.
Fouzia chuckled.
"Are you hungry? I was going to get something from the cafeteria." Fouzia said.
Sarah chuckled. "Trust me I've had enough to eat."
Fouzia shrugged. "Suit yourself."
She hopped from her bed and made her way to the door. Suddenly, her foot scrapped a loose floorboard causing the girl to yelp in pain as she tumbled forward. She roughly landed face first on the wooden floor.
"Oh my god Fouzia are you okay?" Sarah asked.
Fouzia nodded and groaned in pain as she got up slowly. She turned to face the floorboard she tripped over and frowned. It wasn't stuck to the floor like the other ones, she reached over to it and slid the floorboard off. "What the hell?" She said at what she saw, underneath the floorboard was a pink notebook. She frowned and grabbed the notebook. Who would leave a notebook underneath a floor?
She flipped the book and read through it, it looked like a diary. Fouzia looked down at the name that written in the bottom corner of the book.
"Who the hell is Jenna?" Fouzia asked.
Jake
To say Jake was bored would have been an understatement. He tried reading some of the books he brought, but he lost interest after a few chapters. He felt worse than bored…he felt useless. Everyone else was out there learning how to be a hero and here he was being punished for acting like a villain. It felt like no matter how hard he tried to be a good person there is always something stopping him.
"Hey stranger." A female voice said.
Jake jumped and looked up at the figure walking into his room. It was a pretty girl around his age with chin length blondish-pink hair.
"Who the hell are you?" Jake frowned. Something about her looked familiar but he couldn't pinpoint it. Maybe she was just a girl he passed by in school.
"I'm Addy, your new roommate." She smirked.
She walked over to the other side of the room and eyed Matt's bed up and down. She licked her lips before sitting down on the golden sheets.
"This is where the dead guy slept right? That's kind of hot." Addy whistled.
Jake raised an eyebrow.
"I think you may have the wrong room." Jake said. "Also, this is the boy's dorm."
Addy shrugged. "This is where Ms. Morningstar told me to go. Guess there's no more rooms for girls, so she had to put me in the first empty bed."
She looked Jake up and down and smirked.
"Well, this is going to be fun."
Jarret
"You're going to bed already?" Kevin asked.
Jarret nodded. "It's been a long day and I have ballet practice in the morning."
"Are you sure you don't want to talk about what happened today?" Kevin asked.
"I rather not." He said.
Just as Kevin was about to open his mouth a knock was heard at the door. He groaned and got up to answer the door.
"Hello?" Kevin called.
Faith yanked the door open and grabbed Kevin by his wrists.
"We need to talk." She said suddenly.
With that she yanked him out of the room, leaving Jarret alone.
"Wonder what's that about." Jarret said.
Jarret yawned and gently placed his head on his pillow. The only thing he wanted to do was shut out the world. Just as he was about to drift into sleep his phone buzzed. Jarret groaned and reached over to his phone. He frowned when he realized it was a text from an unknown number.
UNKNOWN: Someone's been a naughty boy.
Jarret raised an eyebrow.
JARRET: Who the hell is this?
UNKNOW: Someone who knows the truth about what you did to Hunter. Now if you don't do exactly what I say, I'll tell everyone.
Jarret grimaced.
JARRET: What do you want me to do?
Fritz
Fritz groaned as he made his way across the campus parking lot. It was so humid in Florida, he felt like he was walking in an oven. As soon as he had his meeting, he could get this over with. Sitting in the middle of the parking lot was a large limo. Fritz rolled his eyes that was the exact opposite of incognito.
He opened the door and hopped in.
"A simple car would have been enough. Nothing draws more unwanted attention then a fucking limo." Fritz said. Sitting in there was a large, muscular man with silvery blond hair. He wore a dark black tuxedo and a black tie.
"How did the first day go?" He asked
Fritz shrugged.
"Majority of the kids were nice; I even made some new friends."
"Interesting." The man said. He turned to look at Fritz. "Does anyone suspect anything?"
"I told them all I'm a foreign exchange student. I do need to be careful, apparently this won't be a first that there was a spy among them." He said. "However everyone's too focused on this new girl in there class more than me. She's some kind of reformed psychopath."
The man smirked. "Good. Those kids won't know what hit them."
Sara
"Welcome to the Saint Betram's Asylum, how may I help you?" The recipentiost said.
Sara gulped. How was she going to explain why she was at the asylum? She looked around the building, it seemed pretty clean for the most part. It wasn't what she was expecting the inside of an asylum to look like.
"I'm here to see Emma? I'm her cousin." Sara lied.
The receiptonist looked at her skeptically.
"She's been here for twelve years and has never had any visiotrs." He said.
"Well I just found out she was here and trust me, I'm anxious to make up for lost time." Sara said.
He sighed. "Just wait a minute, I'll have an orderly escort you to her room."
Sara smiled weakly. "Thank you."
A couple of minutes later, two musclar men in blue scrubs lead her down the hall. Along the way they passed a couple of rooms with patients in it. Some screamed at her. Some spit out the window. Some did some other obsecene things.
They stopped when they reached a room at the end of the hall.
"You have fifteen minutes." One orderly said.
Sara frowned. "That's all?"
"Take it or leave it." The other said.
Sara sighed and turned to face the door. She shakily pushed it open and peeked her head inside. Sara smiled, there was she. Emma was sitting right on the floor. Her curly black hair was tied in a ponytail and she was leaning before a coloring book.
"Emma?" Sara called softly.
The woman stopped coloring and turned to face Sara. A bright smile formed on her face.
"An ancestor has brought me a gift!" She cheered.
She ran over to Sara and pulled her in for a hug.
"The mother of the demons has returned to save me!" She said.
Sara frowned. What was she talking about? Even though this was an asylum she didn't expect Emma to be this discoumblated. Sara's eyes went over to what she was drawing. Sara's jaw dropped. It was Fouzia, the woman had drew Fouzia in almost perfect detail.
"Emma how did you get that?" Sara asked.
Emma frowned. "The Bringer of the Apocalypse."
"What are you talking about?" Sara asked.
"I believe that's enough talking for now." A voice behind them said.
A chill ran down Sara's spine. She slowly turned around to face who was standing in the doorway.
"Cyrus." Sara gulped.
He smirked. "In the flesh."
He took another step toward Sara.
"Now step away from my sister Sara, or I might have to get a little violent." Cyrus smirked.
Ms. Morningstar's Notes
Name: Alexander "Lex" Dayton
Notes: For years, I've been waiting for someone like Mr. Dayton. Like Kevin, he grew up fearing his quirk because it can hurt people. He fails to realize his own potential, something I can help him with. His fear of his quirk rules his life, it stops him from using it to its full abilities because of consequences. Lex is a bleeding heart perhaps because he didn't receive much love growing up, his parents worked a lot and he hardly had any friends. Lex throws love on to people because he hopes that they will love him back. That they won't see him as some kind of curse. His need to have people care about him is pathetic and will slow him down in the field, however I am confident I can carve the emotion out of him. He seems to have a strong bond with Ms. Ritter than be exploited. By the end of this year Lex will be my weapon.
