Lost in the storm- part 2
A guest asked for a oneshot of a sequel to Ch2543 "Lost in the storm" where Emma wakes up with a high fever and is delirious.
Snow spent the whole night have dreadful nightmares. No two were the same. Sometimes Emma drowned, sometimes Charming drowned, sometimes they both did. Each one was uniquely terrifying. By four am, Snow knew there was next to no point in continuing to force herself to sleep. The only way she was going to get any peace that night was to know all her family were safe. Neal had been staying at Granny's for a couple of days, while they tried to sort out Emma's problem, so Snow knew he was safe. Henry was staying with Regina, so again, Snow could ensure his safety. She turned to Charming beside her. His breath was going in and out evenly. She gently pressed her lips to his, loving the way it made him smile in his sleep. Yes, he was fine. Snow then made her way up to Emma's room. She smiled at her. She was finely at peace herself. She lay curled up in her bed, her blanket clutched tightly in her grasp. The only thing that bothered Snow was the way her face was scrunched up. Was she having nightmares as well? Snow came over and pressed her lips to Emma's forehead. That was when she knew something wasn't right. Emma was burning up, badly.
Snow sprung into action. She took the quilt away from Emma immediately.
"Sweetheart, I need you to wake up." Snow said as gently as possible. She gently ran her thumb over Emma's cheek. Her eyes slowly blinked open. She groaned. Then, without warning, she scooted as far away from Snow as possible.
"Please don't hurt me!" She suddenly shouted.
"Emma, it's me, it's mom, I'm not going to hurt you, ever…"
"No!" Emma shouted, batting Snow's hands away. "You're not my mom. You just say that when my social worker's coming!" Snow reached beside her and turned on Emma's bedside lamp. Emma looked absolutely terrified. Snow could tell from when she felt her forehead that she had a fever. She was clearly delirious.
"Emma, I need you to calm down her a moment." Snow told her. "It is me. It is mom. I'm going to help you, but you need to calm down." After a minute or so, something switched in Emma.
"Mom?" She croaked. "Mom, what's going on, I don't feel so good." Snow kissed the top of Emma's head, glad to have her back.
"I know princess. We're going to try and sort." Snow promised her. She took out a vest and pants for Emma. She changed her from the pyjamas into the vest and pants then carried her downstairs. The time out in the rain and falling into the water had obviously done her more damage than Snow or Charming thought. Snow carried her downstairs. She made Emma safe in one arm and gently shook Charming with her free arm. He woke up and blinked up at Snow and Emma.
"What's going on?" He asked.
"Emma's sick." Snow explained. "Can you watch her while I get the medicine?"
"Of course." Charming said, taking Emma from Snow. He frowned at how hot she was. "You ok Em?" Emma shook her head. Charming sat her on his lap and took his glass of water, giving Emma small sips. Snow came back a minute later with some of Neal's baby medicine. She held the spoon out to Emma, who was so out of it that she took it without complaint. Snow and Charming looked at each other, frowning. They hadn't planned for this.
