Now that Kohaku was traveling with us, Rin didn't ask me as many questions. Not that her questions annoyed me or anything, but I like not talking sometimes. Surprising, right? I laid on the grass and faced the cloudy blue sky. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. I placed a hand on my still aching chest. Though I had recovered completely, my human body ached on occasion. And to make things less helpful, my body's been switching between human and demon on its own. Maybe it was trying to find out which form would heel it better, I don't know.

I sighed as I ignored all things outside of my head. I thought of nothing, giving my brain a break for once. I wasn't going to start any trouble, I wasn't going to do anything dumb. I needed some serious R&R. Too bad for me though because I wasn't going to get it. I sat up when I felt the Earth shake beneath me. I looked around and noticed that there were two Sesshomarus. At least I thought that until I looked closer. One was obviously a female, and the marks on her face were different. Her hair was also in a different style, and her clothing was very much different.

I stood up as the idiot, Jaken, realized that the person standing before us was Sesshoamru's mother. Seriously, they looked alike. I'd assume they were family from the crescent moon on her forehead. That's just me though. I guess it's because I can use context clues. We all went to Sesshomaru's mother's, Inukimi, castle that wasn't too far from where we had taken a break. Wait… InuTashio, Inukimi, Sesshomaru, and InuYasha? They had an "Inu" trend, but Sesshomaru broke it. I guess he's so cool that he doesn't need to conform to their naming system. Yeah, that has to be it.

"I thought you hated humans, Sesshomaru, yet you have two human children in your company. Do you plan to eat them?" His mother asked.

"Why have you called me here?" Sesshomaru asked, ignoring his mother's question completely.

"You have mated, but not brought the lucky woman before your mother, how unthoughtful." Inukimi replied without hesitation or a single expression written out on her face. Like mother like son, huh?

"I do not have time for your games, Mother."

"Games? You have refused every woman that has approached you, and now you suddenly decide to mate. Is it foolish for me to wonder what she looks like and who she is?"

There was a silence between the two as they stared at each other. Inukimi eventually held out her Medio stone, and let out a hell hound that was in it. Sesshomaru used Medio Zangetsuha to send it back to hell, but it didn't work. The hound gobbled up Kohaku and Rin and ran back to the underworld. Sesshomaru followed, leaving Jaken and I with Inukimi. The woman sighed when the rift disappeared.

"Men will always be rash creatures." She said to herself before staring at me. "At least he has a good eye for women."

I didn't know what to say, so I didn't say anything.

"Do not be shy. Come sit before to your mother." She instructed.

She was receiving me much better than I anticipated. I followed her orders and sat in front her. She examined my body before speaking again.

"Are you the one that has been caring for Sesshomaru?"

"I am afraid you have the roles reversed." I said, making sure to speak properly.

"He has chosen well indeed."

"I beg to differ!" Jaken wailed. "Lord Sesshomaru, how could you leave me here?!"

Instantly agitated, I went over to the stairs and looked out.

"Hey, there he is!" I exclaimed.

Jaken got up quickly and went to look also. I took that opportunity to kick the little toad down the stairs with my foot. The green imp rolled down the stairs as I went back to my seat before Inukimi.

"A woman that knows how to rid of nuisances, I am sure you will make a great daughter."

"Thank you very much."

"Now tell me, has my son bedded you already?"

I was instantly embarrassed. I didn't think she was one to think of things like that.

"I wonder if he is as good as his father in bed, or better."

I didn't want to hear that! I-it's very awkward. Why would his mother want to know the question to that? There would be no way to tell unless… I shuddered at the thought and tried to get it out of my head as quickly as possible.

"He has not bedded with me at my request." I informed. "I am not comfortable with the idea of doing such a thing before the mating is finalized."

Inukimi smirked at my words. "Such an innocent child."

What did she mean by that?

"The innocent are the ones that feel the most pain and pleasure."

I don't want to know what she meant by that.

"Child, does Sesshomaru treat you as the delicate flower you are?" she asked as she held my chin.

I had to pause and think on that one. He only played rough with me when I deserved it, but he never did anything besides what was in his role as the leader. Well, he did keep me warm some nights, and treat me with care.

"He does." I finally answered.

"Truly?"

"He only gets upset with me when I endanger myself, and treats me kindly for majority of the other times. I cannot say that he does not treat me well."

Inukimi reached out and patted my head twice before saying, "You have my blessings. Go in peace."

That was not what I was expecting,

"Make sure to give me many grandchildren."

That was also not what I was expecting.

"I will try my hardest." I managed to get out.

"Perhaps six or nine shall do it."

"I do not think my body will be able to produce that many." I said, slightly worried if this woman was serious or not.

"You are right. Unlike humans, demons do not give birth so easily. Knowing that Sesshomaru and your child will be a powerful one, you may not be able to have a child for years."

"Years? How many are we speaking of?"

"No less than a hundred."

A hundred?! My Lord have mercy on me! 100? Is that the right number?

"What if the demons were weaker?" I asked, barely able to hold back my choke of surprise.

"Weaker demons, maybe ten years."

That would explain why humans have not been enslaved or wiped out yet. More humans were born than demons. Still, those were hefty numbers.

"Could it be that Sesshomaru did not tell you?"

"I believe that is the last thing on his mind currently."

"I do not care what he thinks of. So long as I get grandchildren, I will have nothing to argue about."

I felt bad. I was sitting here, talking to a woman that believes I will become her daughter in law. It's not that I didn't like her or anything, but every time I thought about the end of the series, I had a gut feeling that something upsetting was going to happen. I was starting to believe it more and more, that when the time comes, I will leave. Whether I want to or not.

"Something troubles you, my child. Why not rest your head?" Inukimi asked me.

Her voice had the luring coax in it, making the offer seem that much better. It was that of a mother, of the mother I lost. I was comforted beyond belief by her tone, and took her offer. I laid my head in her lap and napped lightly at her touch.
