Second part to my Blind Date OneShot, I had so many requests to do it so I thought I would. Enjoy!
Erin got in the taxi and waved to Jay as the taxi drove off, she couldn't shake the feeling in her stomach. Something about this guy gave her butterfly's.
She felt her phone buzzing in her clutch, she pulled it out and noticed it wasn't a number she had saved in her phone,
"Lindsay."
"Hello Detective Lindsay, I guess I couldn't wait to ask you out on a second date."
Erin chuckled into the phone at the familiar voice, "Ah Detective Halstead, very eager. But I am glad, I was hoping you wouldn't take too long."
"What are you doing Saturday?"
"I don't have plans, unless a case jumps off."
"Well how about we go to the shooting range and then lunch? I'd like to see if your as good as you make out."
"Your on."
"I will pick you up at 11."
"See you then Jay."
"Night again Erin."
"Night."
Saturday came around and thankfully she hadn't been called in yet. Hopefully it stayed that way but somehow criminals always knew when you had plans.
Erin got dressed in her normal attire, hoping that it would be enough. But somehow she didn't think Jay would care, something about him was different.
She put a little bit of makeup on, nothing like she had on the other night, done her hair with some lose curls and chucked a beanie on, it was freezing outside.
As much as she didn't want to she had to bring her badge, gun and radio just incase she did get a phone call.
She smiled when she heard the door bell ring, she walked quickly to the door looking at herself in the hallway mirror one last time, she opened it and smiled when she saw Jay standing there, looking as handsome as ever. This guy could wear a potato sack and still look sexy.
Jay smiled at her, "Hey."
"Hi."
He pulled his hand from behind his back holding a bunch of daisy's, "I'm not usually the flower type of guy but." He shrugged.
"Wow, they are beautiful. Also my favourite." Erin said taking the flowers and bringing them to her nose.
"Yeah a little bird may have told me." Jay chuckled.
"Oh I bet," Erin smiled, "Did you want to come in while I put these in some water?"
"Uh yeah sure." He nodded, making his way outside. Taking his beanie and big jacket off, revealing a tight henley that outlined his muscles.
Erin's breath was near taken away when she looked up and saw Jay standing there in less clothing then when he arrived, god she had to get her mind elsewhere.
Jay smiled as he watched Erin walk around her kitchen, grabbing a vase and filling it up with water.
Even though this time she was dressed to the nines with her hair and makeup done she still looked beautiful, "It's nice to see this side of you."
Her head raised, "What do you mean?"
"Just shows that even without a fancy dress and a face full of makeup you still look beautiful."
Erin felt her cheeks blush, she didn't blush. She was a tough detective, but once again this guy was doing things to her, "Uh thankyou.
Jay smiled, noticing that she obviously wasn't one to take compliments easy, "We should get going."
"Yeah, I am sorry but I have to bring my things. Just incase I get called." Erin said holding her badge, gun and radio up.
Jay laughed and raised his shirt, revealing his gun, "I should apologise too then."
"Ah, the life of being a detective huh." Erin said trying to avoid the fact that she just say Jays very defined v line.
"We putting a wager on this or?"
She raised her eyebrow, "What you thinking?"
"If I win I wouldn't mind another kiss." Jay shrugged casually.
"I think we may be able to make that happen either way." Erin winked as they walked out the door.
Jay couldn't help but continue peeking his head around the divider that stood behind him and Erin, she was impeccable. The way this girl stood and acted as she pulled the trigger was amazing.
She may look small and innocent but if he was any criminal he wouldn't like to get in her way.
Erin relaxed her shoulders and placed her gun down on the bench in-front of her, pushing the button to bring the target forward. She noticed Jay watching, "You good?"
"I'm impressed Erin Lindsay." Jay nodded as they both looked over her target.
She then peeked around to Jays target, "Suppose I'm impressed as-well, maybe Antonio isn't all that wrong asking Voight to bring you up.
"So who one," Jay asked pulling his target down, Erin doing the same as they held them up beside each other, "I think it's safe to say it's pretty much a tie."
"Oh I don't know there hotshot." Erin rolled her eyes, glancing between the two.
"Okay, you have one more better shot then me," Jay said giving in, "Good work. What do you want?"
"Let me think about it over lunch."
Jay smiled, "Let's go then."
They'd been sitting down for lunch for about half an hour asking each other questions, trying to get to know one another.
"So I know you just won with a handgun but id like to see your efforts with a assault rifle or sniper." Jay shrugged.
"Assault rifle sure, sniper," Lindsay shrugged, "Haven't really used them much."
Jay smiled, "Maybe I could give you a few pointers."
"What you get an award or something for being the best at it?" Erin joked, but soon started to want to backtrack when she saw the look on Jays face, "Sorry if I said something."
"Nah," Jay waved his hand like it was nothing, "I just have a lot of experience."
"As a ranger?" She said softly.
He nodded, "I was the marksman for my team."
"If you don't mind me asking, how many tours did you do?"
"Two."
"I can't even begin to imagine."
"I just try not to think about it, but there's still always bad days. Just have to keep occupied," He shrugged as Erin reached out her hand to grab it, giving it a squeeze, "Let's not get all depressed, this is suppose to be a date, not a therapy session."
She forced a smile, seeing the heartbreak all over his face, "Are you from Chicago?"
"Born and raised. Canaryville."
"Ah, little bit of Irish in your blood then?"
Jay chuckled, "Maybe. You have siblings?"
"A brother, haven't really spoken to him since I was little. We fell out of touch, once again have my mother to blame for that. Do you?"
"Sorry I didn't meant to bring your mother up."
Erin smiled, "I think we really need to stop apologising on this date."
"I think we do." Jay laughed.
"So siblings?"
"Oh yeah, a brother. He's an ED doctor at Chicago Med, only just started. It use to be all about breast implants at New York."
She chuckled, "That must have been great fun."
"He seemed to enjoy it, was always about the money for him."
Erin knew to change the conversation, considering Jays bluntness with the last comment, even though he seemed like a great guy, there was so much heartbreak in his eyes. Just like her. Maybe that's why they were connecting so easily.
"Think I have figured out what I want for my prize."
"And what would that be Lindsay?"
"This." She stood up from the table and walked around, bending down to meet Jays lips, he quickly stood up, towering over her so she had to stand on her tippy toes, he cupped her face and deepened the kiss. Once they parted for air, Erin bit her bottom lip only turning him on even more.
"Wow."
"I'll say." She puffed.
"Want to get out of here?" Jay motioned his head to the door, she nodded. He grabbed her hand, intertwined their fingers and walked out the door together.
Just as they walked out the door, Erin's phone buzzed, she looked at Jay and gave him an apologetic look as she let go of his hand. Looking down at her phone then back at him, "I gotta go, it's Voight. We just caught a crime scene."
Jay sighed, "All good."
"Hopefully it doesn't go for long, I will ring you once I'm done? Maybe you could come over later tonight?"
He smiled, "Yeah maybe. Be safe yeah?"
"Always."
