Out at the Fire Station, Station Officer Steele was waiting for him so he could talk to him about the last rescue, Sam was soon back from the emergency call. "Hello, Sam." he said as his leading firefighter walked in his Office.
"Hello, sir." Sam replied.
"So, what happened out there in the mountains?"
"I think we know that Norman Price was on the edge again, he was not wearing any safety gear."
Station Officer Steele was puzzled, he wasn't sure that they needed Venus. So, he asked him about Tom. "Have you called Tom Thomas about you needing the helicopter, Sam?"
"I did, sir. He was in the air already."
"Alright, Sam. You can go on and clean Jupiter now. I think Elvis might need a hand."
Sam was surprised, he didn't know that Elvis would be busy cleaning Jupiter for a long time. So he went downstairs to find him. "Elvis, would you like some help? Station Officer Steele told me you could use a hand cleaning Jupiter."
Elvis thought for a moment. He wanted to finish the job, but he realized that he couldn't reach the ladder. So he turned and looked at Sam. "Oh. Yes, please, Sam."
"Right, I'll get the roof, and you will finish at the tires."
"Right-o, Sam."
Soon, Sam and Elvis were hard at work cleaning Jupiter. Up in the Kitchen, Penny was cleaning the tea mugs when Ellie walked in looking very pale. She went to the lounge and leaned back on the sofa. Penny was worried, she went over to see what was wrong with Ellie. "Ellie, are you ok?"
"No, Penny. I don't feel too good."
Penny was confused at why Ellie would be feeling ill. So she placed her right hand on her forehead and pulled it back after she noticed that she had a fever. "I think you need to go home and rest. You may have been burning up with a fever, Ellie."
"No wonder Arnold didn't notice before he left."
"I know, Ellie. I know."
"I think you better tell Station Officer Steele that I'm going home for a while."
"Why don't I tell him, Ellie. I'll take you home in Venus."
"Ok, Penny."
Penny went down to his office to inform him that Ellie was very ill and she is taking her home. Station Officer Steele was busy on his computer reading messages from HQ when he heard someone at the door. "Come on in, Penny." he called from his desk.
"Sir, I'm taking Ellie home in Venus for the day."
"Oh, and what's up with her?"
"I noticed that she had a fever this morning when she came in, but I didn't know until now."
Station Officer Steele was looking at the time on his watch, then he frowned. He wasn't sure why one of his firefighters would be ill while Arnold was away. So, he had to suggest the idea that Penny would take her home.
"Oh, dear. Well, I suggest you take her home then."
"Yes, sir. I'll let her know."
Penny went back to the kitchen to find Ellie asleep on the couch. So, she walked over and knelt down beside her. Ellie started to wake up with Penny right beside her. She never realized it would be that bad for her to be working in the condition she is in. "What is it, Penny?" she asked tiredly.
Penny looked at Ellie who was sleepy, then she placed a hand on her shoulder. "Ellie, Station Officer Steele said it's fine that I take you home."
"Ok, Penny."
Penny helped Ellie up from the couch to take her home in Venus.
While Penny was taking Ellie home, Sam and Elvis were still cleaning Jupiter when they saw Penny with Ellie climbing aboard Venus. They were surprised that Ellie was heading home for the day. Elvis looked worried. "Sam, is Ellie alright?"
"I don't know, Elvis. I think we better ask Penny, but for now, lets finish cleaning Jupiter."
"Ok, Sam."
Meanwhile in Cardiff,
Arnold was well rested after 4 hours on Trevor's bus. He decided that he can go and get a bit of fresh air. He grabbed the map of Cardiff along with his backpack containing his first aid kit and went out to see the Cardiff Castle right outside the hotel he was staying at. It was a glorious sight as he took a nice photo of it for his photo album. Just as he was heading down towards the millennium Centre, there was a fire outside the tesco express near the centre. He raced over to help."HELP!" someone shouted from across the city.
"Is everything alright?"
The man outside looked at Arnold, then back at the fire inside the shop. "There's a fire in the shop, we need to get everyone out. I can't go in because there is too much smoke."
"I would wait until the Fire alarm is going off or the fire service arrives."
They waited for 60 seconds until people started coming out of the building. Everyone followed Arnold out to a safe distance while the Police arrived to help him make sure everyone was out safe. Just as everyone was out, the fire service arrived to put out the fire. The Fire officer walked out of the pump to find Arnold standing right with Everyone else. "Right, what fire are we dealing with here?" the Fire officer asked Arnold.
"I'm not sure, but it is very bad from my view."
"Ok, you did a good job at keeping everyone a safe distance away."
"Thank you, sir."
The fire officer looked at the fire, then at Arnold. He thought of something long and hard.
"Are you a firefighter?"
"I am, sir. I work for the Pontypandy Fire Service."
"Ah, I see. Isn't your Station Officer Norris Steele by any chance?"
"Yes he is. I'm Firefighter Arnold McKinley."
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Arnold. I'll be happy to tell Station Officer Steele about this. He would be so proud of you."
Back in Pontypandy,
Penny was driving Ellie home in Venus when they came right outside the door. Ellie was relieved to be home. Penny helped her out of Venus and into the house. "Ok, Ellie. I know you feel very ill, but I'll let Arnold know about this when he returns." Penny said as she opened the door.
"Will you be back to see me again?"
"I'll make sure to come back and see how you're doing. In the meantime, just make sure to get some rest, ok?"
"Thanks, Penny."
"I'll be at the station. Call me if you need anything."
"Ok, Penny. See you later."
After Penny had dropped off Ellie at her house, Ellie went to rest in her bed. Penny climbed back into Venus and drove back to the fire station. She was thinking about why Ellie told her that Arnold did not notice before he left.
Back in Cardiff,
Arnold had continued to the centre after he had given his statement to the Police after the Fire was out. He was surprised that he had become a hero, but he was just doing his job. Soon, he arrived at the Millennium centre. He was amazed to see how big it was, but also a bit nervous. So, he decided to see the water tower first, then he went to the harbor to get a nice view of the open sea. It smelled like his home in Pontypandy after a spot of fishing with Charlie. Oh, how much I miss being back in Pontypandy. He thought to himself.
Back in Pontypandy,
Sam and Elvis finished cleaning Jupiter when Station Officer Steele walked in to do a spot check. Sam and Elvis were thinking they missed one spot, they never miss a spot when cleaning the vehicles in the fire service. "Ah, Sam. I was hoping you finished helping Elvis with cleaning Jupiter, I see." he said as he passed by to do a spot check.
"Yes, sir. Jupiter is all nice and clean."
"We'll see about that, Sam."
Station Officer Steele walked over to Jupiter as he started his spot check. He checked every inch of the pride of the fire service to see if Sam and Elvis missed a spot. Then he found no spots had been missed on his favorite Fire engine. He returned to where Sam and Elvis were. "A job well done, you two. Jupiter looks clean, pristine, and gleaming." he remarked.
"Thank you, sir."
"I think you can help me with the office for a while, Sam."
Sam was confused about what Station Officer Steele wanted him to do, but he had to carry on with his job. "Yes, sir." Sam said as he followed his senior officer to his office.
