A/N: Over a hundred reviews! I don't know what to say you guys. The support is overwhelming and I'm so grateful to everyone who's taken the time to click, read and review my little fic. Love you guys!

P.S Caroline is human in this AU. Since Katherine never had her reign of terror, then Caroline never got turned.

"Why can't I come to Virginia with you?" Demi frowned. She and Rebekah were in the sunroom with Bonnie enjoying some tea before the witch would have to leave to Mystic Falls with Klaus in about an hour. Cordelia was already on her way making some preparations of her own along the way.

"It's painfully boring dearie. You wouldn't like it," Rebekah soothed, putting an extra beignet on her saucer.

That did the trick bringing a smile to the little girl's face. Demi did love her sweets. They'd indulged her heavily the day before but Rebekah figured it was earned. After her horrible vision two days ago, the vampire was willing to give her a bouncy castle made of cotton candy if her heart so desired. They'd gone shopping in Covington with Bonnie allowing the original female to bond with her brother's new mate away from his scalding gaze. They deserved some girl time after all.

"Hey, stop dissing my hometown. It isn't so bad," Bonnie playfully scolded.

Rebekah rolled her eyes, "The last time I was there was in the early 1900's and I am willing to bet my entire Sephora collection that nothing much has changed. Maybe less straw."

"We have Wi-Fi now and just got a Denny's. Also black people and women can vote too," Bonnie quipped. The witch might have appeared like a meek little thing but she had fire and lots of it. A good trait to keep up with Nik. Her brother didn't suffer fools and neither did she. They suffered damsels even less. Something about being hunted for nearly all of your immortal life by your own father really made a person form a backbone. Seeing that Bonnie could hold her own made her even more attractive to them all, not just Klaus. Not to mention she was a Bennett and protégé of a very formidable supreme witch. Rebekah didn't have the patience for weaklings. While Bonnie did not appear outwardly fierce, something told her that when put to the test, she'd pass with flying colors.

Growing up in the times that she did, when every freedom of hers was stifled from the moment her breasts appeared, forced Rebekah to grow some bite. After Esther turned them, the silver lining was that it afforded opportunities unavailable before. Power and strength were now bestowed to her. Sure, she mourned the loss of the ability to get married and have a family with a normal man but over the centuries her many love affairs taught her that men were, well, shit. At least the men she dated. Most of them were born out of the childish need to rebel from under Nik and Elijah's controlling thumbs. Inevitably, she chose some really terrible fucking guys. The count who tried to use her to make his mistress jealous. The Moorish poet with a weird toe kink (shudders). The conquistador who was more interested in her family's gold.

There was also that one Hunter who almost killed them all too. Just crazy.

After Nik broke his curse and became less of an arsehole to his family, she mellowed down. The obsessive need to find love which would in turn grant her some sort of happiness mellowed down too. Rebekah realized that she was too much of a beautiful badass to allow her happiness remain the hands of some simpering airhead with muscles. Her brother's changed outlook on not being an idiot towards her helped too as their bond tightened once more.

Sure, there was one man whom she didn't mind taking the chance on but she was not ready to ruin their family structure in case it all went down to shit. Rebekah was more than aware of his feelings but with a track record like hers the safe zone was their best bet.

Not to mention there was probably some loosely justifiable incest there.

"We'll be back before you even know it," Bonnie patted Demi's hand.

"A precise date and time would be nice," Demi grumbled reaching for another cupcake even though she'd already had three. The witch felt slightly glad she'd be long gone before the inevitable sugar high and crash would come. At least vampires had super speed.

"Look at you being all snarky," Rebekah said with utter pride. Her sweet little girl was growing up like a true Mikaelson each day. Soon she'd be causing all manner of chaos and breaking all kinds of hearts. A small pang went through her. They needed to find a solution to the hex soon so Demi could have that future. She was going to have it, even if they needed to hunt down every necromancer on the bleeding planet and hang all the witches of New Orleans by their ankles. Rebekah loved Demi in a way that reminded her of Henrik although part of her was ashamed to admit it might be a bit more. Like a mother loved a daughter.

"I just promise that we'll be back as soon as we can manage ok?" Bonnie grinned amusedly. The little girl sighed loudly in true dramatic fashion taking the obviously loathsome news with great stride.

"Is grandpa going too?"

The two women burst into laughter, "Why do you keep calling him that?"

Demi shrugged, "Because he is. Just like the wind says you'll be my grandma soon." That made the witch freeze and Rebekah throw her head back in rambunctious laughter, holding her stomach from the intensity.

"Uh, let's keep it at light at just Bonnie," She laughed nervously.

"Aren't you supposed to keep caramel sweets in your purse for your grandbabies Bonnie?" Rebekah teased with a grin.

"Says the woman a whole millennium my senior," Bonnie huffed chewing on a scone.

Rebekah tossed back her luxurious blonde mane with a sultry look, "I wear it well don't you think?"

"Totally babes. Not a day over 800," Bonnie winked.

They were such a complementary pair. Thanks to whoever that Nik's mate was not some boring airhead or simpering bitch she couldn't stand. That would have been a nightmare. So far she was certain that Bonnie Bennett was perfect for her brother.

Her only real worry was that if for any reason the witch decided she no longer wanted to remain bonded, Rebekah was certain her brother wouldn't allow her leave so easily. Nik acted like he was incapable of love in the past but it was the opposite. He was capable of far too much. And his love was a raging forest fire which consumed everything in its path. He knew no other way. While Rebekah doubted they had spoken those words to one another, the accelerated timeline of their relationship and bonding meant it would come sooner rather than later. Longevity was ideally what she hoped for them but in case that didn't happen, she hoped Bonnie Bennett would be strong enough to take on Niklaus. Because he wouldn't let go for anything and nothing would stand in his way.

"You are so fun Bonnie," Rebekah stood up to reach for the teapot. "I can't wait for you to come over to Vargrland. I am starved for appropriate female companionship, no offense to Lourdes or any of the others."

"None taken," the violet haired witch just mixed away at her concoction. They almost forgot she was there. The woman had the uncanny ability to remain completely quiet in any room she entered without the use of a single spell. It was amazing.

"Varger what?" Bonnie frowned in confusion.

Rebekah stirred her cup with a disapproving look, "I keep forgetting your language skills are limited to English. Your pronunciation is abysmal." Hey, she could still remember some phrases from French class. Not a lot but enough to impress some out-of-towners. "Vargrland is our home and base of operations. Nik didn't tell you? That absolute dunce forgot to tell his own mate where he lives. Probably too busy living between your legs."

He definitely did not. Come to think of it, it never truly occurred to Bonnie to ask where he currently lived. She knew he left New Orleans years ago but didn't exactly know where he and his siblings settled during that time. What kind of girl let's a guy drink from her thigh and makes her cum her brains out before finding out his address? This one apparently.

"Where is Vargrland?" She asked.

"It's our private island in the Swedish Archipelagos," Rebekah informed, dropping another cube of sugar.

"You own a whole island?!" Bonnie's mouth dropped wide open.

The female vampire chuckled, "You should really get to know the assets of the family you'll be marrying into." Before Bonnie could allow herself to fully freak out internally over the word marriage, Marcel entered the sunroom with his right-hand Thierry behind him.

"Y'all having a tea party without me?" He said in faux indignation. Demi jumped off her chair and ran to him getting enveloped in a big bear hug. "I saved you some scones!"

"My favorite? Thanks D," He kissed her cheek.

"You came on time. We were just about to eat it all," Rebekah gestured to the spread. Marcel leaned over with a wink grabbing a blueberry scone from the platter, "Just my luck then." She pretended it didn't do anything to her insides.

"Master Mikaelson is waiting for you downstairs Miss Bennett," Thierry informed politely.

Bonnie stood up grabbing her purse – she finally managed to grab some things from her house with Dwayne the day before – and walked over to give Rebekah an air kiss. "I promise not to get lost in all the hay."

"I doubt my brother will allow you past three feet of himself to even try." Bonnie went to Demi kissing her forehead and saying a protection spell over her then smiled at Marcel. "Stay safe guys."

"You too step mommy," Marcel grinned wide and mischievous.

A laugh bubbled in her chest, "Hey, watch it with the mouth kid or no dessert when I get back."

"No one said you'd be an evil stepmother. I'm telling dad," He wrinkled his nose. Bonnie managed to make it downstairs and outside still giggling to herself.

Caroline was pretty excited for the first time in weeks. She'd been juggling coursework, her part time job at the campus radio station and applying for internships which left her feeling frazzled. But a good thing came to relieve her from all that.

Bonnie was coming to visit.

It felt like longer than a year. When Bonnie told her that she wanted to leave to study witchcraft with her mysterious relative, Caroline was unhappy but kept it to herself. The truth was she knew deep down it was something her friend needed but she wished Bonnie hadn't left. Caroline knew she was being overly sentimental. People grew up and left their small towns. They went to college states away. They travelled to places all over the world and returned only during the holidays. Truthfully, she thought they'd be different. She, Elena and Bonnie would always be tied to Mystic Falls.

Founding families and all that. Bonnie didn't exactly have that reason but still. She'd grown up and lived there all her life. That counted for something.

Everything changed when the supernatural world was exposed to them. Most times Caroline still couldn't believe it herself. Vampires and werewolves and witches and the evil societies that experimented on them all. It felt like a teen fantasy novel, right along with the tortuous romances with handsome vampires. Well, that was Elena's reality not hers. Caroline had no interest in that. Tyler being a werewolf was something they tried to manage but ultimately, they broke up when he met another female wolf he could "better relate to". She still missed him but cheating was a big no.

It was something she could manage and pretend didn't exist most times. Bonnie made her a ring like John Gilbert's and a necklace of vervain which kept her safe so far. The only vampires who hung around were Stefan and his dick brother Damon. They remained in relative peace since freshman year after the Augustine incident.

Knowing that her best friend was being thrust deeper into that world was both scary and exciting. As much as Caroline wasn't a fan of the crazy, Bonnie couldn't really escape it. It was in her blood after all. It was a trip knowing that all Miss. Sheila's rants about magic weren't just drunk ramblings. That made her feel guilty for all the times she laughed at the woman for them. At least Bonnie hadn't pulled away from her. They still talked as frequently as their schedules could manage. Despite her initial fears and wariness, it made Caroline proud and happy to know that her best friend was becoming a big deal in the supernatural world. She knew that after Sheila's death Bonnie hadn't really been the same. As much as it hurt to admit, leaving was the best thing for Bonnie in the meantime. Every time they spoke Caroline noted how vibrant and full of life she was. The joy that radiated whenever she spoke of a spell she'd learned or a new thing about the supernatural world she didn't know before.

Now she was finally coming to visit. And with a boyfriend no less. It excited her to meet whatever guy managed to snag Bonnie's interest. Hopefully he'd be better than Jeremy who dumped her for some groupie band chick a month after they started dating.

"Damon what the hell?!" Caroline exclaimed in anger at finding the very bane of her existence eating up the mint chocolate ice cream she bought specially for Bonnie's visit. His brother stood up from a couch with a sheepish look and helped her with the bags she was grocery bags she was carrying. That lessened her anger a bit. She'd gone to the store to get some things to make dinner in anticipation of Bonnies' arrival. Mint Ice cream was meant to be dessert. Now it was being demolished by Elena's gnat of a boyfriend.

"Careful Blondie, you'll shatter the windows," Damon took another remorseless spoonful.

Caroline dropped her wallet and phone on the counter between them, "That's Bonnie's favorite ice cream. I put a note on it. Why the fuck are you eating it?"

"I'll buy another pint Caroline," Stefan offered hoping to deescalate the situation.

"No Stefan. Your brother needs to learn some boundaries," She glared at the blue eyed vampire who just regarded her with amusement. He loved getting underneath her skin. It was bad enough he practically lived here even though he had a perfectly good mansion in Mystic Falls due to his inability to stay ten feet away from Elena. Caroline firmly believed in not trashing her friend's dating lives but she could say with 100% certainty that Elena missed the mark with this one. Leaving Stefan for Damon was a downgrade as far as she was concerned. He was selfish, arrogant, a mighty dick and all round shitty person. Not to mention she still hated him for compelling and feeding from her when he first came into town. She tried to give him the benefit of the doubt for Elena's sale and because they'd managed to work together bringing down some baddies but at the end of the day you can't keep a pig clean. It always wants to play in the mud. Damon always reminded her why she could never feel anything but absolutely loathing for him.

"You don't even need human food. You're just doing this to be a dick. Where the hell is Elena?" Caroline walked over snatching the remaining pint from his hands. The bastard had already gone through half.

Damon threw the spoon carelessly on the counter, "No need for all the dramatics. It's just Judgey, not the Pope. Why exactly does she warrant this five-star treatment again?"

"Because she's my friend. Because I missed her and she deserves it. Not that you'd know anything about that," Caroline snarled grabbing her things off the counter.

"And yet she left you here so abruptly without any consideration the moment someone vaguely better came knocking. Doesn't sound very friendly to me," Damon mocked.

"Damon stop it," Stefan warned his brother. Nothing good came from riling her up but his brother didn't know a boundary he didn't disregard.

Caroline knew what he was doing. Damon got his rocks off from making everyone around him equally as miserable. "Wow, I really wonder what Elena sees in you. Hopefully, it'll wear off soon."

"Aww, do you miss me? Sorry Blondie, but my tastes run towards two or more brain cells."

She looked murderous, "You talk big for someone who can be taken down by a piece of wood. I still rinse my mouth with bleach every night to get your disgusting taste from my mouth. I'm going to the store to get some more ice cream. Stay away from the rest of my food or I promise to start putting vervain in everything." She grabbed her phone and wallet turning on her heels to the door. A few seconds after closing it behind her Stefan followed with an apologetic expression. "Let me pay for it. Least I can do."

Caroline sighed folding her arms, "You don't have to do that for him. He's not your responsibility."

He shrugged, "He's always going to be my responsibility whether I like it or not. Besides I'm craving some peanut butter chocolate myself."

Caroline shoulder checked him, "You have the taste buds of an old lady."

"I am 165 years old sooo…." He grinned and she giggled walking in front of him down the steps of their apartment building and to her car. She actually liked Stefan. She wasn't crazy about him being a vampire but if all vampires were like him then she wouldn't mind. They were actually friends.

It was a pity Elena ended up picking his brother after all her heartfelt declarations that it would only be him. It was even sadder that he still stuck around watching his brother and the girl he loved flaunt their relationship right in front of him. Elena insisted constantly that they were friends and he was over her but any fool with eyes could see that wasn't the case.

He took it all in stride because that was just the sort of person Stefan was.

"Despite your brother trying his best to ruin my mood, nothing is going to get me down," Caroline turned on the ignition. "Bonnie's coming."

"You really miss her huh?" Stefan glanced at her.

She nodded putting the car in gear, "Every damn day. I understand why she had to leave but I miss her so damn much. She didn't say how long she's staying for but I hope it's at least a week."

"I'm sure she'll be glad to see you," Stefan looked out the window. He wished the same could be said for him. He contributed to the reason she left after all. Once upon a time, it really seemed he and Bonnie could be great friends. She was fun to be around, smart and welcomed him with open arms even after learning about what he was. Then Sheila died and it all fell apart. Bonnie said she forgave him but they both knew it wasn't possible deep down. Stefan didn't feel like he deserved it anyway. After the break up with Elena, he found himself thinking more about Bonnie. Once or twice he wanted to get her contact info from Caroline but chickened out. Not to mention he wasn't sure she would even want to talk to him. He just hoped she was being safe and well in New Orleans.

"Elena's nowhere to be found no surprise," Caroline remarked frustratedly. "I told her about Bonnie coming and she bailed like I feared. Just a few days ago she talked about how ready she was to patch things up."

"She said she wanted to grab something from Jenna's and meet Jeremy for a bit. She'll be here," Stefan assured.

Caroline turned the steering wheel, "Yeah well I'll believe it when I see it. If you ask me, she acted like a spoilt brat when Bonnie wanted to leave. She's a witch ok? There was nothing wrong with wanting to discover that part of herself. Elena acted like she was tossing us away forever. It wasn't fair to make her choose like that."

Stefan was quite aware of that. Elena hadn't understood but Bonnie's relative was a Supreme witch. Being mentored by her was like the Harvard of learning witchcraft. There was no way she would turn it down to stay in Mystic Falls, "I understand that she didn't want to lose Bonnie."

"No, she was just being selfish. Because I love Elena but I'll admit that we both cowered behind her a lot and that gave her the impression that it was the correct way of doing things," Caroline sped down the road. Her jealousy was the reason she first approached Damon and let him take advantage of her. It wasn't Elena's fault but she always felt like it was a constant competition between them. Caroline was certain Bonnie felt that way too on some level. Elena had all the guys who wanted her, the perfect family until they died and was loved by everyone. It was hard not to feel resentful after years of noticing that.

"Either way, Bonnie stood her ground and left. I hope that you guys can reconcile now that she's here again," Stefan smiled encouragingly.

Caroline smiled back. The grocery store was in sight. "I hope so too. I also hope that she makes it back on time. Bonnie's gonna be arriving any time soon. Can you call her for me?"

Stefan dialed his ex-girlfriend's number but got her voicemail instead. "I'm sure she'll call us back soon enough."

"I hope so."

"Careful, don't want to give Dwayne a show," Bonnie's eyes darted to the seat where she knew the other hybrid could hear them. He seemed engrossed in the latest issue of some car magazine but supernatural hearing picked up everything within a hundred feet.

Klaus defiantly placed a hand in between her bare thighs grateful she wore a skirt today, "Dwayne can ignore whatever is going on." She smacked his chest.

"Joking love," He muttered behind her ear. Of course, he wasn't actually going to let anyone witness her throes of passion. That was for his eyes only. "I'll save it all for when we land."

"I still can't get over the fact that you actually have a private plane," Bonnie played with her half-moon necklace. She bought it yesterday guessing that Klaus might appreciate it for the obvious symbolism. To her delight, his eyes followed it even if they mostly dipped into her cleavage where it rested. Last night when Klaus informed her of their mode of transport, she just sat shocked in the middle of his bed.

She thought he'd been pulling her legs but lo and behold, a plane was waiting for them at the tarmac of a private airport they'd driven to.

It felt too much like a Christian Grey moment. Except her boyfriend/mate preferred biting over whipping. Or maybe he liked both. He did spank her ass an awful lot the previous night. A vampire who lived for centuries would definitely pick up an interesting kink or two. She tried not to let the thought excite her too much since she definitely didn't need poor Dwayne picking up on how hot she was for his Alpha. They hadn't slept together yet but it was only a matter of time. Bonnie already let him drink from her which was its own form of intimacy.

"Come on darling, do you really see me taking commercial air transport?" He raised an eyebrow. The image was pretty funny. She couldn't imagine the hybrid going through security and getting through baggage claim. He'd snap some poor TSA agents' neck in no time. Not to mention the crowd would be hell on his senses.

"Pretty ostentatious though."

Klaus massaged the nape of her neck, "I'm a Viking Bonnie. I enjoy my treasures." He'd lived through muck and squalor already. Unless it couldn't be helped, he preferred not to go back to those roots. Klaus loved his large mansions, priceless paintings and expensive alcohol. His mate was adorably unused to such displays of wealth even though her mentor and great grandaunt Cordelia was the only other woman he knew apart from Rebekah who could bankrupt a small country with her shopping habits.

"Rebekah told me you have an island. Is that true?" She asked.

"Vargrland, yes. We've lived there for the past one hundred years. Bought, well, more accurately compelled it off the hands of the current monarch at the time. A bit of an impulse buy in the beginning but it was an investment which more than paid off," Klaus explained.

"Were you going to tell me about it? It's your home, right?" Bonnie's voice was unsure. A tiny drop of insecurity reared its ugly head. For some reason he didn't tell her because he didn't want her to know where he lived. He didn't trust her. It was highly illogical and she knew it. But deep-seated fears rarely disappeared so quickly.

He placed both hands on her face in a reassuring gesture, "Of course I was. I will admit I've been distracted and the subject surprisingly never came up but I do plan to take you there once this whole business is over." Sometime after their final mating under the full moon.

There was his unspoken assumption that she would make it her permanent residence too but he was unsure of how to broach the topic. He was certain she would be reluctant to leave her established life for various reasons. Schooling was the main one.

Her friends unfortunately were a part of this for he suspected a whole ocean separating them might be too much to bear no matter how estranged the relationship was. Her father was absent-minded when it came to her well-being but he would certainly notice if his daughter moved to a different country after some time. If only she didn't have so many attachments keeping her in place.

Klaus was aware they were moving quite fast and the preliminary bond was quite strong within just a few days; the culprit was most likely his hybrid nature. He'd marked her two nights ago after drinking her blood ensuring any werewolf or vampire who came across her would know she'd been claimed. The experience was more than pleasant. He'd drunk from several witches in the past but her blood was like a well aged decanter too worthy to be compared to any other. A result of the ancient power but also something exclusively hers. A heady and earthy quality that reminded him of a majestic waterfall. Nature in its glory. It was a miracle he could still stomach other blood bags. It was like going back to fast food after having a Michelin star meal.

"I'd love to," Bonnie smiled brightly trailing the hand on her cheek. "I want to see where you lay your head. Maybe learn how to pronounce it since Rebekah so callously insulted my attempt."

"I should teach you Swedish. Although I find it a bit dulled down from Old Norse, it's lovely all the same," His thumb swiped her bottom lip. She bit him playfully. Dwayne wisely kept his eyes away. Klaus was not concerned with his pack member witnessing his affection towards Bonnie. Any outsider perhaps but his pack were sired to him. They would respect their Alpha no matter what.

Besides, she was his mate and would soon become the alpha female herself if she was amenable to the title. Seeing them together would present a united front. Their wolf sides would take pleasure in knowing their Alpha was satisfied on all fronts.

"What does Vargrland mean?"

"Wolf land," Klaus replied. It was a fitting name. He came across it when he visited the archipelagos during the winter solstice right when he was close to breaking his curse. The land immediately called out to him, he would keep insisting. His siblings did not seem fond of it at first but it grew on them all. It reminded them of the lands they once dwelt in before leaving for the New World. Their own patch of solitude away from the world. It was the seat he ruled his kingdom from.

"How many languages do you speak?" Bonnie propped her elbow on the headrest pushing his hand away from her mouth.

"Currently fifteen that are still used today. Four dead ones," He placed one hand on his stomach slouching a bit in his seat.

She shook her head, "That's beyond crazy. You should teach me Old Norse since that's what you speak with your siblings." Bonnie caught them a few times speaking rapidly to each other. It was fascinating.

"I could but I suspect the runes might be difficult to master. Not that I doubt that I doubt your capacity." Klaus wanted to teach her another language first for the selfish reason that only they would share it. He already shared his mother tongue with his siblings.

"That's fair. I've always wanted to go to Sweden," Bonnie placed her head on his lap. His hand instantly went to her hair stroking it. She hummed in appreciation. "I've always wanted to travel out of the country actually. Been stuck in Virginia and America my entire life. New Orleans is embarrassingly the furthest I've gone. Well, that and Chicago where my dad's family lives."

"I will take you wherever you want to go. Any corner of the globe," Klaus promised tangling his fingers in her curly mane.

"I want to go everywhere," Bonnie declared looking right at him.

"Then I will take you everywhere," His eyes glowed gold. It was no sentimental statement. It was a promise. He would bring the world and lay it at her feet should she demand it so.

"Sire, we're beginning our descent," Dwayne announced breaking the moment between the two lovers.

"Indeed," Klaus felt the change in altitude moments ago.

Bonnie sighed, closing her eyes for a few seconds. Then she opened them meeting his, "Moment of truth huh?"

"I will be there with you, don't worry." With that, she felt no need to.

"Will you be alright on your own ma'am?" Vernon, one of Klaus' hybrids, asked Cordelia. He was tall and tanned. Wavy brown hair and pretty blue eyes with thin pink lips and the longest legs she'd ever seen. The Original sure knew how to pick them. They were currently parked in front of the Mystic Motel. Not very creatively named but what more could be expected from a small town that constantly jerked itself off in the name of traditions. It was the only motel in Mystic Falls and was currently housing some very interesting occupants.

Cordelia just smiled, "I'm a big girl. Keep the car running, this won't take long. I'll call you when I need you."

Vernon nodded. The supreme witch exited the car and he stayed in. She wore her tiger print Fendi sunglasses mentally patting herself on the back for choosing the pair which went with her favorite red soled shoes. The motel had very few occupants. She said a spell to scan for the presence of the one room with a visitor who wasn't quite alive.

Room 105. Wonderful.

She walked to the door and tore it right open with a wave of her hand. The inhabitants quickly stood in shock. One was a terrified young witch she recognized from the French quarter coven and most likely under the tutelage of one of the elders. The other was an old face; one she hoped would stay buried for a while longer.

Katherine snarled to attention and dropped her fangs. She was visibly weak and didn't move from the bed which had vervain flowers surrounding it. Ah, so that's how they kept her in place, "Cordelia you whore."

Cordelia smirked, "Hello old friend. It's the twenty-first century. The proper term now is bitch."

Katherine's neck was snapped and she fell without haste. The supreme then turned her attention to the scared witch currently crouching in the corner near the television.

"P-please don't hurt me," Katie begged. Her heart was pounding in her chest and sweat poured from every pore in her body. She knew who this was. The Supreme witch. The power coming off her was nothing to be compared to, even to the elders of her coven. Having the woman's sights on her was not a good thing.

"I'm not going to hurt you. You're much more useful alive. Now Vernon." The hybrid zoomed into the room and placed a chloroformed cloth over Katie's face causing her to pass out. He glanced at the immobile vampire and raised an eyebrow.

Cordelia smiled sweetly, "Told you."

Vernon dropped the witch on the carpeted floor and fished his phone from his pocket dialing the number he knew by heart.

"Yes?"

"We've got one of the girls Sire. The other one is in the wind but we'll find her."

"Good. We've just arrived and will meet you soon at the house." The line went dead.

Vernon faced Cordelia, "He said they've arrived." That was good news. Now she just needed to find the other and solve this end of the mystery.

Sophie gulped down the watered scotch with a scowl. Alcohol stopped tasting good about five years ago. She'd tried to cut down after Jane-Anne died but it never really stuck. Small towns usually had the worst selection. If only the Mystic Grille sold moonshine. Even the name reeked of small-town un-creativity. Mystic Grille, really? Was the Chum Bucket or Eating Express taken? It probably wasn't the best idea to leave Katie alone with the vampire but she was wearing vervain and Sophie needed the break. Katherine had been annoying her with questions of their current time asking if they knew anything about some two brothers. Sophie promised her that she would get whatever she wanted once they got what they needed from her.

"Another," She pushed her glass to the bartender who obeyed without question.

Two people entered the restaurant/bar and one of them caught her eye. For a moment Sophie was taken aback. She panicked thinking Katherine had found a way to escape but realized it was someone else entirely. This girl had an American accent and seemed human. The boy she came with called her Elena. No way...

This was better than winning the lottery.

She'd just found the damn doppelgänger in the same town Katherine was buried. This was more than a wonderful coincidence. It was a damn miracle. Now they didn't even need the damn vampire anymore. All she had to do was somehow lure the girl away back to New Orleans. Not an easy feat without her magic but Sophie was resourceful enough. She spied on them picking bits of the conversation. Something about a friend coming to visit and how nervous she was blah blah blah. Sophie patiently waited nursing her drink until the girl finally bid her friend goodbye and stood up to leave.

Sophie followed subtly already concocting a story to get the girl into her rental. Perhaps something about being lost or whatever. She was just a few steps away from approaching her when her phone rang. She wanted to ignore it but realized it could be Katie getting eaten or something so she begrudgingly answered.

"Look Katie, I found the girl. We don't need Katherine anymore, -"

"Hello Sophie." Sophie stopped dead in her tracks at the unfamiliar female voice on Katie's phone.

"Who's this?" She held the phone tighter. The girl was getting into her car.

"Let's just say that I have your friend and I'm not in the best of moods so if you could kindly follow my instructions, it would make everything so much easier for everyone, especially your friends over here."

"Listen, you can do your worst to both of them. I don't really care anymore. I've gotten what I came for," Sophie callously stated as the doppelgänger's car roared to life.

"Ouch, Katie might be heartbroken at that. You should realize that it took me just an hour to track your little motel room without any personal objects for a locator spell. I'm pretty good like that. In the mood I'm in, I'm sure it would take even less time. You're very far from home with no magic of your own. You wouldn't fare very well against me," The woman threatened. "Not to mention if you actually make me run in these Manolos I will absolutely hex you."

Sophie fumed watching the girl, Elena, drive away without a care unaware at the danger about to befall her just moments before. She balled her fists until they were pale. "What do you want?"

"Good girl. Now make sure to keep your phone on and do exactly as I tell you."

Caroline's phone pinged and she glanced at it before looking back at the road. They were driving back from the store with a few extra supplies. "Could you check that for me? Maybe it's Elena finally calling me back."

Stefan picked the phone and looked at the last text sent. His brows furrowed, "It's Bonnie actually."

She perked up, "What did she say?"

He read on, "She said she's arrived in Mystic Falls. She sent an address for us to meet at. Somewhere in town actually."

Caroline was puzzled, "I thought she was coming to our place."

"Apparently she had a different idea." Good thing the university was just an hour away from Mystic Falls.
