Henry skips school
mtxk3 asked for a oneshot of Henry skipping school (for bad reasons) and going home early. He gets caught by Snowing, who get home unexpectedly. He lets his attitude get the better of him and gets into even more trouble. Eventually, they make up.
Henry smiled to himself as he had a quick look around the house. Nope, he was definitely in the clear. He was glad he had decided to come home early. He hated physics and he hated Mrs Serrano. He wasn't planning on being a scientist, so what did it matter if he got an F? He didn't care. He was going to be much happier here playing his video games in the peace and quiet before everyone else got home. Or at least, that's what Henry thought was going to happen. He wasn't to know his grandpa had taken a half day at the station to meet his grandma and Neal at the park. They had then come home rather than Snow dragging Charming to the mommy and me class with her. Henry didn't have enough time to hide before they came in.
"Hello there Henry." Snow said, fixing her grandson with a stern look. "What are you doing home playing video games in the middle of the afternoon."
"Um…" Henry said, trying to come up with a good excuse. "Stink bomb." He said quickly. "Stunk the whole school out."
"Stink bomb?" Charming asked, sceptical. Henry now realised it was an awful excuse, but he had to stick by it. "You except us to believe that they send you all home because of a stink bomb? Henry, do you think we were born yesterday?" Charming said, disappointed that Henry would lie to them. "Tell us the truth please."
"What does it really matter?" Henry snapped. Snow and Charming were a bit taken aback. Emma had told them both now that Henry was getting older, he was getting a little stroppy. This was the first time they had experienced it for themselves.
"Excuse me young man?" Snow asked, daring him to repeat himself. Henry rolled his eyes at them both.
"What does it matter now anyway? School will be over soon, no point in me going back."
"It matters because you shouldn't have been missing it in th first place." Charming pointed out. "Don't think we won't be telling your mother as soon as she gets home."
"Fine." Henry snapped, turning off the console. "You do that." He stormed past them and up the stairs to his room, slamming the door behind him. He didn't know why he was so angry, he knew it was his fault. He just couldn't help feeling the way he felt.
Snow and Charming understood that there was bound to be some teenaged angst, so they would give their grandson some time to cool off. That didn't mean there wouldn't be repercussions, however.
Before his grandparents decided to go up, Henry realised that he was in the wrong and should come down. He came down about an hour later.
"I shouldn't have skipped school." He said quietly. "Then I shouldn't have been rude to you when you told me off."
"No, you shouldn't have." Snow said honestly. "But thank you for apologising. We will still tell your mom and we'll let her deal with the skipping school side. As for being rude to us, your grandpa and I talked that over while you were upstairs." Snow explained. Charming nodded in agreement.
"We think that it's fair if you come round every Saturday for the next month and mow the lawn for us." Henry nodded, that did sound fair. He was lucky his grandparents were so calm about these situations.
