Quitting cold turkey

A guest asked for a oneshot of Snow trying to wean Emma off of breastfeeding, but Emma isn't making it easy. She's throwing temper tantrums every day over it. Charming sees that it's causing his baby girl such distress and encourages Snow to continue until she stops on her own. Snow agrees it's the best approach. So, rather obviously, this contains Emma breastfeeding. If this upsets you, then skip the chapter and save your moans.

"NEEMIES!" Emma screamed. She tried to jump out of her crib. She clawed at her mama's dress. Snow hated putting Emma down for her naps just now. Emma was going to be turning two in a couple of months, and Snow had finally given into the not-so-subtle taunts from the other women around the palace. Everyone was telling her that Emma was too old to still be nursing in any way. Snow had never seen the harm. It wasn't affecting Emma's development, it was just something she did for comfort. Everyone else saw it as something abnormal though. Worried it would affect her reputation, Snow was trying to wean her off it. Emma wasn't responding well to the new cold turkey approach. She was refusing to sleep without her pre-sleep nursing.

"Please, Emma." Snow begged. Hearing Emma cry physically hurt Snow. She just wanted to make it better, but she couldn't. "We can cuddle, but mama can't give you neemies. Emma's too big now…"

"NO!" Emma bellowed. She continued to wail anguished sobs. Snow sighed. She wasn't going to be sleeping any time soon.

Charming had heard Emma crying from the floor below. He too had experienced the problems with weaning her when he tried to put her to sleep. He just didn't get why it was a problem. If it brought his baby girl comfort, what did it matter what the other women thought? They could talk to him about it if they had any concerns. No, enough was enough. He had heard his little princess cry herself to sleep for the last time. Charming decided he was going to intervene. He made his way up to Emma's nursery, where he saw Snow almost crying herself at the pain of it all.

"Snow." Charming said as he came into the room. He took Snow into his arms for a moment. He hated seeing either of his girls upset. "Snow, look at you both. Is this really worth you both getting so upset over?" He asked her.

"I know Charming, but the other women-"

"Don't matter." Charming reminded her. "We're her parents, Snow. Not them. I know you don't mind if she continues to nurse for the time being. She'll stop when she's ready. Forcing her to do it early isn't good for either of you. Don't give into their cruel whispers, Snow. You're in charge here. Not them." He reminded her. "Please, I can't stand hearing her cry like that. It's breaking my heart, not to mention yours. Can't we go back on this?" He begged. Snow didn't need told twice. She truly hated hearing Emma scream. She quickly pressed her lips against Charming's.

"I knew I married you for a reason." She sighed. Charming smiled.

"Because I'm ridiculously handsome?" He teased her. Snow just laughed as she took the still screaming Emma out of her crib and brought her to the rocking chair. Only when Emma saw her mom pull down her dress did she begin to calm down.

"That's right." Snow said gently, cradling Emma against her chest. "This is about us, isn't it baby girl? Never mind what those nasty ladies say."

"Exactly." Charming said, coming over and watching his daughter eating. She was happy, Snow was happy. That's all that he cared about. Emma would stop in her own time, not for the gossipy ladies about the kingdom. If they had a problem, like Charming said, he would be more than happy to discuss it with them.
