"Looks painful. Parents didn't warn you to stay out of house that's breaking down?" Crownslayer took a step closer, squatting nearby.
"Firesburnedthefoundation, Iwasgettingoutpeople, someinfecteddidntmakeit... hadtohelpthem... waaouch!" Shaw couldn't hold a scream when lupo girl pulled on a sleeve, making her broken arm raise up from the floor. Thankfully, after a few seconds, she let it fall back, prompting another, less loud, scream.
"You're a real paragon, huh? Breaking yourself to get few dumb infected out safely." Knife glistened in the red light from dying embers, making small zalak girl widen her eyes, before sliding into the sheath without a sound. Crownslayer sighed, sitting down right onto the dirty floor and leaning her back to the wall. "Getting pinned down. Looking like a damn kid. Selflessly running into the fire. You sure know now to suck all the fun out of the moment... "
"Uhhhh, I'msorry?" Offered little firefighter after a minute of very awkward silence. "I'dreallyliketogetout, ifyoudon'tmind?"
"I could kill you right now, you know?" Lazily drawed out Crownslayer, without moving from her spot. "You're not much of a fighter without a hose and convenient pitfall nearby."
Shaw eyed the enemy, hmm-d and went to work wriggling her left hand out of tattered uniform, wincing every time her movements aggravated either broken hand, deep scratches from the fall or burns from fire that got through the mangled parts of the firefighter's suit.
"Guess Doctor ain't nearby? You Rhodes Island don't get much trouble with his damn directions. But without him, suddenly, world ain't so simple, having to figure things out for yourself?"
"I'manadult, managedbymyself mostofmylife, thankyouverymuch!" Bristled smaller girl, throwing heated glare to her enemy. Left sleeve finally gave, and she tugged mite too forceful, falling onto the floor when cloth suddenly gave. "Oof!"
Crownslayer snickered. "Real big girl, yeah."
Shaw glared, only prompting more giggles from the other girl. Lying on the floor, little firefigher didn't look as intimidating as she would've hoped. For Crownslayer, whole thing went from going to kick her so-called nemesis while she was down to sitting on a dirty floor trying to understand how life could become so fucked up. She could hate that bunny girl with her obnoxious rhetorics about helping infected while killing those who finally rised up against the oppression. Doctor, for his two-faced Rhodes Island initiative. Most of the operatives she met. This girl, though? Putting out fires, not acting like some savior of infected everywhere, she could respect that.
"Fuck it, come here." Finally huffed Crownslayer, in one fluid motion rising from the floor and picking short girl by her collar. "I'm not growing old watching you crawl few meters in a day. Where the fuck are you going anyway?"
"Imnotsaying, youwilljustattackmyfriends!" Shaw, even picked up like unruly child, gritted her teeth and looked defiantly up to her captor. Crownslayer just rolled her eyes, giving a little jolt that forced another pained hiss from the girl.
"Some place to drop you that you won't mind me being in then. Fucking hell, here I am, trying to help fucking Rhodes Island chipmunk for some reason, and that's what I get." She shook her head, ear-like flaps on a hoodie drooping down. "You're not even infected, dammit."
Shaw shrugged her good shoulder, chewed lower lip, considering taller girl that seemed to be deep in thought and finally shook her head. "Sector12level3, sidedoor2totheright, code 4327... ifyoureallyhelping, thankyouIthink? Itiskindastrange, notkillingmeisgood butyoukindaevil youknowhwhatImean?"
Crownslayer shrugged, starting to walk. "Yeah. I'll live without killing five foot nothing dumbass kid. Maybe you'll grow to understand what Reunion is fighting for."
Shaw huffed. "I'mjustfightingfires. Stopstartingthem."
Reunion assasin just laughed, dragging her not-so-nemesis into the maze of corridors, avoiding both Rhodes Island and Reunion forces. Tomorrow she'll jump back into the fray, today she was content to poke fun of one of the less hypocritical and fucked up operatives.
And hey, not killing the kid meant she could hold it over her every time they met again.
