CHAPTER 9
Eddies PoV
The sun hit my face at about 6:30am. I knew that sleep was not going to be a possibility, not now at least. Grabbing my coat and my keys I headed out the door on my way to Prichard's office.
I drove down to her office, barely able to keep my eyes on the road. Honestly I'm not sure how long I can keep doing this. I'm running on no sleep, no food, nothing. I feel like my body is going to give out any second. But I can't, not yet.
The security guard waved me into the parking structure, I'm pretty sure he recognizes me now. I went into the elevator up to Prichard's office. I'm staring into space as the numbers tick up 2, 3, 4. The door dings as it opens and I step out of the elevator. As I look up towards Prichard's office, she is running towards me with a couple sheets of paper in her hands and a determined look in her eye.
"We think we found them," she hollers to me as she hops into the elevator I just stepped out of.
"What?" I asked, confused.
"Are you coming with me or what?"
--
As I stared out the window of her police car, butterflies were overcoming my stomach. We rode in silence for a good 5 minutes before I opened my mouth.
"How did you find them?"
"We looked into Ms Devinish's credit card statements. She seemed to go to the same drugstore everyday for the past couple of days multiple times. We had a team staked out there in hopes of finding her and following her. Two agents were able to get eyes on her and follow her to an abandoned warehouse. I remembered you telling me that was her thing, abandoned warehouses. It was too dangerous for just the two agents to go in with no back up, so I told them to wait for me and a group of specialized hostage negotiators. We have to treat this as a hostage situation. We don't know what kind of weapons Ms Devinish has on her person so we have to proceed with caution."
All I could do was stare out blankly as we sped over the English countryside. My head couldn't comprehend what was going on.
"The warehouse is located about 90 minutes outside of town, but with this bad boy" she tapped the car, "We should be there in about 40."
I focused my gaze at the skyline. My heart was beating a mile a minute. The blood was rushing to my head and I knew I could pass out any second. I could feel my stomach turning in knots as I sat patiently waiting. Honestly, I had no idea what could lay ahead of me in the next hour. I prayed to god that they were safe. I knew Patricia was injured, but I didn't know how badly.
The ride to the warehouse felt like an eternity. Once we got there, there were about a dozen or so men in tactical gear talking in a circle. Prichard had gotten a call telling her where to go and to stay outside of the 1km perimeter set up by the agents that came before us. They told her that she would be the one to give the "go no-go" call.
"Eddie if you get out of this car I will shoot you. Is that clear? No being the hero today."
"I can help," I pleaded.
"No." She replied, slamming the door shut. I hopped out of the car anyway.
"Eddie…"
"Please just let me stay outside."
"Fine, somebody get him a vest. So Help me god if you get shot I will kill you, is that clear? You stay behind this van." She pointed to the tactical van in front of us. She then began her discussion with the other agents.
"The three of us will come up on the right side while you three go to the left. We scope the building. Browne here will try the main entrance we saw Devinish go for. We don't shoot unless we hear shots fired from inside." Prichard did an amazing job of keeping confidence and control during such a stressful situation. "Mr and Mrs William have just been notified and will meet us at the office back in Liverpool once we've located Patricia and Luna. We go on my call. Is everyone ready?"
There were collective nods between all the men.
