Hullo! Now that we have introduced ourselves(see last chapter), we can skip a lot of things in these opening messages. Just remember: Underlined = Noxian. Let's begin.

-Part One: The Choice-

Chapter 2

As Kayn slips out of his room, he wonders if it was a good idea to leave Rhaast behind. "I will not need a weapon for this kill. Or, at the very least, not a scythe." Kayn mused to himself. He did say to Akali that he would make the kill look as if it could have come from her hands instead of his own. "Gah, why did I have to offer this. She didn't know what I was in town for. I could have just let her take the kill and gone home myself, as she will be doing, no doubt. Am I really that attracted to her? I can't be. That wouldn't make sense." Kayn decided not to dwell on it any further. "Oh well, at least I get the pleasure of another mark looking upon me in terror. Or perhaps I will just loot his room, and see if he has… HAD, anything valuable. Proper tense is important, Kayn." smiling lightly to himself, he walked out the door of the inn and into the night.

Eventually he found himself at the broken well Akali had described, that marked the inn his victim had chosen. Thus, Kayn was at his self deemed 'checkpoint'. Where he would sit and wait if he detected trouble or if he wanted to observe for a while.

He looked for an entrance point. Spotting no open windows, or useful openings(although he thought he saw a fleck of green on the roof), he walked in via the front door.

"Hiya stranger, come to stay a night?" The elderly woman keeping the desk inquired.

Kayn slowly spoke. "Actually, no. I am here to ask about a friend. He told me he was in this inn, and to search for him. May I ask who occupies room 18? It's his favorite number." He responded.

"Oh, that'd be Mr. Caden, and his lovely new wife. Would he be the one you're asking after?" She answered brightly. It hurt Kayn's brain to find commoners who were so open with information, and unsuspecting of darkness.

"No, I'm afraid not. Would there be anybody under a name with the letter K? He likes to use trick names when we hide from one another." He asked, working out a plan to find his mark, without asking for him by name. He didn't want to be tied to the name when the body was found.

"Yes, a few. We have a Mrs. Kanade in room 2, A Mr. Klonder in room 15, and a Mr. Kuthueln in room 8." She said, starting to grow cautious, although still giving up far more information then Kayn believed she would. He suspected she was not very well practiced at thinking before she spoke.

"Yes, ma'am! That's him! Mr. Klonder is one of his favorite alter egos. I'll head over immediately! Thank you, and I will not see you tomorrow. Tell Mr. Klonder that a pretty girl was asking for him please. I love to watch him run frantically trying hopelessly to find the lady." Kayn heard a scoff from outside. Likely a late night traveler, laughing at the prank he was setting, although it seemed to come from higher up then the road. He said all this very excitedly, yet quietly, purposely oversharing. In his experience, TOO MUCH detail in a lie was more likely to make people ignore it, rather than too little. You just need to be sure to not contradict yourself.

As kayn walked around the corner, and to room 8, he thought about how this would go. "First, I'll find him. He is likely asleep. I'd like him to stay that way. Less noise, and far less blood to hide." He thought, as he slipped out a kunai, and phased into the wall next to him.

"Damn, he is still awake? Alright, lets see if I can get behind him… if I aim for the larynx he won't scream while he bleeds out." Kayn angrily muttered in his head. Positioning himself in the wall behind the armchair his victim read in, he slowly, and meticulously slid his arm from the wall.

He got as close as he could to the man's neck without being noticed, and right as he saw the muscles in his mark's face glance down, he shot out his blade like shadowy black lightning, and sliced the poor soul's head clean off. Realizing the strength he put into the slash, he lunged towards the floor, and caught it before it could make an unfortunately loud noise. The book Kuthueln had been reading however, fell to the ground with a shockingly soft 'thoof'.

"That was far too easy." Kayn thought, as he glanced for any personal guards who might want revenge for killing their next paycheck. "Then again, I AM Master Zed's best student. I suppose even the hard tasks seem easier then taking a breath, for me." He mused happily, as a fist quietly swung at the back of his head.

In a noise that sounded something like 'WUBWUBWUBWUWB', the thin metal on the son's hand vibrated after connecting. "WHO ARE YOU? WHY DID YOU KILL MY FATH- aaAHH!" He tried to say, before kayn recovered and swept his leg from beneath him. As the boy hit the ground, his flimsy and possibly homemade armor breaking underneath him, Kayn stepped on the 19 year old's throat.

"Now why did you go and do that? Your shouting will let all your neighbors know that you're getting your ass kicked. I could never live with that shame. You shouldn't have to either." Kayn whispered with a hellish smile.

Right as he lifted his kunai, with every intention of bringing it down on the son's heart, he felt a radiating, debilitating pain just below his bladder. The boy had actually kicked him in the groin! "The nerve of this brat!" Kayn thought, raging.

The boy got up and scrambled away from him, attempting to escape out the window, as Kayn was currently between the son and the door. Stumbling after him, and regaining his balance, Kayn leapt for the teenager and missed.

The boy looked back, thinking he had escaped, and how he must run. He was so preoccupied with making sure the shadow ninja did not grab him again, that he didn't see the kama heading for his skull and then he couldn't see anything but black.

"I knew I couldn't leave town yet." Akali whispered at Kayn, who was still lying moodily on the ground where he had fallen.

"I would have had him. Spoilsport. Besides, I said I would kill that guy," He said while nodding at Kuthueln's headless body. "Not his son. That was just a bonus." Kayn grinned.

"If you say so Kayn. Wanna tell your kunai that it's time to leave? You made more noise then I'm sure you wanted to." Akali scoffed.

"I don't talk to my knives. They aren't alive. Just the scythe, and his name is Rhaast." Kayn whispered defensively. As he climbed out the window, he realized that Akali had already disappeared. He walked to the well, and glanced around. He noticed the same glint of green he had seen before. Smiling, he melted into the shadows the well cast over the roads.

"You are very skilled at hiding in the shadows, Akali, but I AM the shadows!" Kayn whispered, rematerializing behind Akali on the roof of the inn, making her yelp.

"Very funny, Kayn. Go home, the mark is dead. I'm leaving in the morning, and I suspect you will head back to your order in a day's time?" Akali muttered.

"Maybe you should go home too, after all. It would be a shame if somebody found out about the totally and completely quiet murders that just took place, of which you helped." Kayn said, with mirth in his voice.

"I AM home, you bumbling Noxian! You woke me up with your racket down there! You are so loud that a herd of bison could sneak better than you!" Akali whisper-yelled, still angry from being woken up, and then scared.

As Kayn glanced around in confusion, he realized that he was halfway inside the shadow of a very well hidden sleeping roll, and figured out that Akali must have been sleeping directly above the target, to guarantee his location. But that was in the back of his mind for the moment, as currently all he felt was rage at being insulted with, as far as he cared, the worst insult he could think. Noxian.

"Listen, and listen well Akali." He said, deadly serious and very hateful. "You will not call me a filthy Noxian ever again. I cannot deny I was born there, but I am, and always will be IONIAN. I live in Ionia, I was raised in Ionia, and most of all, I kill for Ionia. I turned my back on Noxus when I was drafted to overseas war as a CHILD." He said quickly and quietly.

"Apologize." He demanded, not realizing that in his anger, he had said his whole rant in the language of the lands he hated. The language he was born to, could never seem to forget, and raised the first few years of his life with, before his birthday. He called the day that Zed found him his birthday, as it was in the same month, and that was the day he started his life anyways.

"Wow, I'm sorry Kayn. I didn't realize that was insulting to you. The Noxian part, not the bison part. That part was meant to be an insult. I was just angry you startled me, that's all. However if you explode at me like that again, don't be shocked if you don't reach the end of your sentence." She remarked, being truly honest the whole time.

"Alright then. I forgive you, it was a mistake. And PLEASE stop speaking Noxian?" Kayn almost whined.

"But, you spoke Noxian first. I was just responding in kind." She stated, confused.

"Did I? GODS DAMN IT, WHY CAN'T I DROP THAT STUPID CRUDE LANUAGE?!" He yelled as quietly as he could.

"It's alright Kayn. At least it will be useful, even if you hate it." Akali tried to comfort him, although she did not know why.

"Yeah. I guess. Alright, I'll leave you to rest. Rhaast is likely getting annoyed that I left him for so long, and probably guessed that I lied when I said this was just a scouting mission" Kayn chuckled. "And for the record? I am more stealthy than you could EVER know. I think that means that I'm probably EQUAL to the herd of bison." He teased, sticking his tongue out.

"Maybe. Goodni… and he's gone. So THAT'S how that feels. Hm." Akali said, before turning over and unrolling her sleeping roll.

As Kayn drifted back into his room, via the still closed window, he heard Rhaast's voice in his mind again now that he was back in range.

"And where were YOU, Kayn?" He demanded.

"I assume you figured out that I killed him without you, then?" Kayn muttered boredly.

"Indeed. Don't leave me out of the bloodshed again, worm." Rhaast said moodily.

"Oh hush up, you child. And 'Worm'? That's not even insulting, that's just lazy." Kayn slowly drawled, already half asleep. "Watch my back, Darkin. I plan on resting well, and you had nothing but rest for days now." He said.

"Not by choice. You left me behind!" Rhaast whined, not realizing Kayn had stopped listening.

The next morning.

"Wake up, Kayn. I said, WAKE UP!" Rhaast shouted. "It's time to leave this wretched place."

"UHhgjmwdvsf….UYSHBVNBDHUVBFNAHUFSIV AIJ!" Kayn grunted, while stretching. "Fine, Rhaast. Let's go." He said as he reached over to pick up the scythe whom he was addressing.

He laid his hand on Rhaast, and moved to pick him up, but instantly felt a familiar pain shoot up his corrupted flesh and a migraine formed fast. Rhaast was making his attack again.

"YOU WON'T LEAVE ME BEHIND AGAIN KAYN, YOU WON'T HAVE THE OPTION WHEN YOU'RE DEAD! THANKS FOR LETTING ME REST FOR SO LONG, IT WILL BE YOUR UNDOING, IDIOT!" Rhaast shouted into Kayn's mind.

Kayn panicked. He hadn't fought Rhaast on the mindscape many times, but every now and then Rhaast would make a move for Kayn's body, and Kayn would fight him back with raw willpower, and mental strength. "GGAHHHHHHHH! GET OUT OF MY HEAD YOU MONSTER!" He screamed internally.

Rhaast would not let up. He could feel his power creeping closer to his core. Kayn envisioned it as a battering ram, with the Darkin's blade at the head, smashing against the steel walls of his mind. Every strike dented his willpower, or so Kayn imagined. His corrupted eye started glowing bright red, and the scythe Rhaast inhabited started flailing wildly in Kayn's grip.

"LET ME GO, INSOLENT BRAT! LET ME STAB YOU!" Rhaast yelled as Kayn held the scythe handle steady, despite the uninterrupted agony he felt. Eventually, Rhaast started growing tired. True, he was well rested, but Kayn had not exerted himself as much as Rhaast had assumed, due to not knowing that Akali had helped in the assassination. That, and the fact that Rhaast drew power from bloodshed and death, of which Kayn had been sure to starve him as of late, allowed Kayn to regain his mental footing.

"My mind is not yours to invade, Rhaast. My body is under MY control!" He said aloud. In his mind, he envisioned the battering ram bursting into flames, and the ashes blowing away. He pushed with all his willpower and forced the Darkin's consciousness back into the scythe.

"ARRHHHGGG!" He screamed as Rhaast made his arm flare up in pain, as he fell back into the prison of his scythe. It had no effect on the outcome of the battle, and was more of a petty sign of disrespect to Kayn. "If you do that again, Rhaast, you won't see bloodshed for a year! I SWEAR IT!"

"You win this time, Kayn. Your body will be mine and I shall slay your mind." Rhaast muttered, sounding almost like a teenager, despite his centuries old age.

"SHUT UP, RHAAST! I beat you, as I ALWAYS WILL, so just go back to sleep and SHUT UP! I don't want to hear your whining about the loss, the least you could do is let us BOTH recover in peace." Kayn shouted, taking his anger out on the offending blade. He seriously hoped the rooms near his were empty, or somebody would be very worried about the occupants of the bedroom.

"I suppose that's fair…" Rhaast muttered sheepishly.

"Good. I'm going to turn in the room key. If i pick you up, are you going to do something stupid?" Kayn asked cautiously.

"...No. I am tired. I think I'll rest some more." Rhaast said, trying to sound casual, as if he didn't just try to kill Kayn, and get his metaphorical ass kicked.

Kayn packed his meager travel supplies and grabbed the sleeping Darkin, before leaving the room. On his way down the stairs, he overheard some awkward and embarrassed whispers about his arm. He felt like an idiot. He forgot to wrap his corrupted flesh! He ran back to the room, and quickly wrapped his forearm and hand, and slipped his hooded cloak on to hide his eye and upper arm. Kayn left the room once more.

"Innkeep, here is the room key." Kayn said to the man standing at the desk. He had the dark, short hair and scarred skin of a Noxian warrior, who defected and stayed in Ionia, either out of remorse, or out of lack of anywhere safe to go.

"Ah, room 28. I say, you don't look like the fellow who bought the room." The keeper said confusedly.

"Yes, well… he checked out last night and left in a rush. I took the open room gladly." Kayn hurriedly made up an excuse.

"Alright, well have a nice day now young sir. Oh, you were hurt? In the war I assume?" The man asked, nodding at Kayn's wrapped arm. He obviously had no sense of how much pain the war caused on Ionia, or else he would have observed in quiet, and let the question die before it reached his Noxian tongue.

"Yes, I suppose this could be called a war wound. I'd rather not discuss it." Kayn said impatiently, and left.

"Sensitive, are we?" Rhaast asked.

"Not at all, Rhaast. This corruption is just proof of your failure. I simply didn't want to waste more time making up some lie about my arm. I'm not going to cause a panic telling him 'I picked up a hellish scythe with an aberration called a Darkin inside it, and now it is corrupting my flesh as I try to slay its mind', am I now?" Kayn thought to Rhaast, very logically.

"And besides, I assumed you were sleeping, Rhaast." Kayn followed up.

"Whatever." Rhaast said.

Kayn left the inn, passing the fool who's room key he had stolen the night before. The man was arguing with the doorman, whining about how he HAD a key, but was forced to spend the night in his friend's room, due to having lost it.

Stepping back into the social buzz of a fresh morning in a full town, he overheard a lot of conversations at once. It shocked Kayn every time he witnessed somebody talking about personal things so loudly, where anyone could use it against them.

"I was at those fightin' pits you told me about, and I guess you were right, he DOES pay well. Never seen a fight so intense, if ya ain't countin' the war!" One man said. Hearing this, Kayn listened closer, without looking at them.

"I swear, that boss must be crazy, showing' fights like THAT!" The man continued.

"I hear he fought in the pits himself, before he took that one over!" His companion said.

"Aye, musta' took one to many hits to the head!" The first man said in a very loud whisper.

"I wonder what that's about…" Kayn thought, before slipping away, unseen by the two friends.

-End Chapter-

Right, I think that went well! Any reviews you guys want to leave would be very much appreciated, and I'd also like to say thank you for reading my FIRST EVER fanfic.

Chapter 3 shouldn't take long, but I can't say for sure. I am redoing almost everything on my YouTube channel, to get it up to snuff and actually profitable, and entertaining, so I deleted a lot of my videos and am now recording a whole new series that I'd like to test on my friends before I upload.

Thanks for reading, and I'll see you soon enough! Bye.
