Not telling
Boo asked for a oneshot of Eira continually coming home bruised but won't tell her parents why. Emma asks Snow if she can get anything out of her. It turns out Eira is taking magic lessons with someone dangerous. Snowing only find out by overhearing Eira on the phone. They tell Emma, who is more concerned and upset than angry.
All sorts of fears were running through Emma's head. Was she getting bullied? Had she found herself a shady boyfriend? Had she taken up some sort of dangerous sport? Was it something as simple as her needing glasses? Whatever the reason Eira was continually coming home with bruises, Emma and Killian didn't know. Not that they hadn't asked their daughter. They had asked her about it several times. She was just refusing to tell them. She kept telling her to leave her alone and stop overreacting, but Emma didn't think she was overreacting at all. Her daughter was continually coming home injured. Surely any parent would be concerned? So Emma decided to get some backup. Eira had always been close with Snow. So Emma asked her mom to see if she could get anything out of her. But Snow didn't have to ask.
Snow had every intention of sitting her granddaughter down and getting to the bottom of what was causing the bruises, but she never got the chance. Before she got to, she and Charming both overheard a rather concerning phone conversation between Eira and an unknown person. All that was clear was that the person was dangerous, and were teaching Eira how to harness her magic. Something it had been agreed wasn't sensible to start doing until she was at least sixteen. Snow and Charming decided it was best not for them to confront Eira. Instead, they reported the conversation back to Emma.
"We've told her a thousand times that it's not safe for her to be doing magic." Emma sighed, pacing the room. She wasn't angry. She wasn't even annoyed. She was more concerned about who this mysterious person was, and upset that Eira hadn't told her. Snow reached out and took Emma's hand.
"You need to be calm before you deal with this. For both your sakes." Snow reminded her. Emma nodded, trying to calm herself down. But it wasn't easy. Nothing about this situation was easy. The harder bit was, how was she going to defuse it?
