Grounded
Phoebs Lyle asked for a oneshot containing "Emma Ruth Swan I will not put up with this attitude!" Emma is to be 28 and living at home. She is to be grounded and sent to her room.
"What exactly are you going to do?" Emma snarled. "I made a decision, I saved lives. I don't see what your problem is…"
"My problem is that your method could have gotten you killed." Charming said calmly. Snow stood by his side in solidarity. She fully agreed that the end didn't justify the means in Emma's actions.
"We have been through this." Emma said through gritted teeth. "I clearly made it out just fine. My choices were the right ones for the moment. If you had a better suggestion, maybe it would have been good if you executed it." Emma spat. Charming raised his eyebrow. Emma was through. She stormed past her parents, butting shoulders with her dad.
"Emma Ruth Swan I will not put up with this attitude!" He suddenly shouted at her. Emma froze where she stood. She turned and gave her parents a confused look.
"Emma what?" She asked.
"Um, Emma Ruth." Charming said again. He guessed he never got around to telling Emma that bit. "Your middle name is my mother's name. My mother who died sacrificing herself for your mother and I to have you." Charming explained. Emma took a sharp intake of breath. She had never really heard what became of her dad's parents. Henry had told her that her dad's mom had a sad death. Emma never really asked beyond that. Now she understood. Ruth had died for her parents, for her. Of course her parents were protective of her. Maybe she had acted a little rashly. Snow and Charming could see that she was beginning to calm down and think through her actions.
"Why don't you go upstairs to your room and have a little think on that?" Charming suggested. "Then perhaps continue thinking for say…a week?" Emma raised her eyebrow. She got what he was subtly saying. He was sending to her room and grounding her for a week.
"I might feel a bit guiltier now, but that doesn't mean I've suddenly become a twelve-year-old." Emma said quietly. Charming crossed his arms across his chest, standing his ground.
"If you don't want to be stuck doing desk duty for three months, I think you should consider taking up my offer." Charming said calmly. Emma looked like she was about to pitch a fit, but she also knew how serious her dad was. Giving him a foul look, she stormed upstairs, slamming the door of her room to make sure her parents knew she was not happy.
"Well this is going to be a fun week." Snow murmured. Charming sighed beside her. Yes, Emma was going to be fuming with them the whole week, but at least she might have learned her lesson. At least next time, she might not go rushing into danger. Then it would be worth it.
