A slip of the tongue- part 2
captainswan2000 asked for a oneshot of a sequel to Ch172 "A slip of the tongue" where Emma faints because she's dehydrated and her parents become nervous and overreact.
All Emma could think about was getting home. The humid heat of the Enchanted Forest felt like it was filling her lungs with steam rather than oxygen, but still she pressed on. She had to get back to her own time. To the parents that knew her properly. To her son. If that meant walking all day through this unforgiving hear, then so be it. Emma trudged along as best she could in the dress Rumplestiltskin had given to her. She wasn't used to Enchanted Forest wear. She found it heavy and clingy. How she wished for her own clothes back.
By midday, Emma's vision was becoming blurry. She knew she should probably insist they stop and take a break, but Emma didn't want to. She wanted to find her portal out. It was her determination that lead Emma to suddenly find that she could no longer stand. She heard her name being shouted, and then, nothing.
Emma woke up to the feeling of something cold and wet on her forehead. She felt a breeze against her face. When she opened her eyes, she found her head was resting against Snow's lap. Charming was wafting a giant leaf in her face.
"Ah, she's awake." Snow said gently. She grabbed her pouch of water and held it to Emma's lips. "Small sips." Emma sat up abruptly.
"Easy there." Charming said, placing a hand on her shoulder. "You were out for a while. You need water."
"What I need is to get home." Emma told him. Snow put the pouch in her hands.
"And the only way you're doing that is by drinking. Dehydrating yourself won't get you home any faster." Snow told her. Emma sighed, taking the pouch and having a big swig of water.
"Happy." She said, handing it back.
"Hardly." Snow sighed as Charming helped her up. "But I suppose it's going to have to do." Emma nodded, continuing to march on. Snow gave her a disapproving look. She had a feeling her future self wouldn't be too please with her if she let their daughter come home ill from overexertion.
