Coming back home

I am GROOT asked for a oneshot of Rosie gets taken to New York whilst everyone else is under a curse. Later, she goes to Storybrooke by accident and starts to remember her family.

Like Hell was she staying cooped up in that stupid boarding school. She would rather go back to the group home (and that was saying something), but apparently she was "too much of a flight risk". Ok, so she might be proving them right by running away out of the city, but Rosie didn't care. At least she was away. She went busking in the streets doing some magic tricks (she found she had a bit of a knack for them) and saved up just enough money to earn a ticket out of New York. She didn't care where she ended up, she just wanted far away. A chance to start over. She might only be fifteen, but she knew she looked older. She could easily pass for eighteen. Yeah, she could leave the system behind and start her own life.

Rosie boarded the first bus she came to. She settled herself in for the long haul, because apparently she was heading to Maine. She kept her cap on and her hood up, just in case somebody was looking for her. She even kept her sunglasses on, even though it was well into the night. She could swear the woman sitting opposite her was smirking, but Rosie didn't ask. She kept herself to herself. She just wanted away.

When Rosie got off the bus in a new state, it hit her how alone she was. She had no home, no food. She was fucked. There could be no going back though. The school wouldn't take her back. She'd end up in some secure unit. She was better off taking her chances here.

Rosie took another few buses, mainly to keep her out of the drizzle. When she saw one of the drivers getting suspicious that she had been riding for so long at such a late time, she hopped off. She headed up the road and found that she had found herself a small town. She smiled at the sign: Welcome to Storybrooke. Yeah, this seemed perfect. She hitched her backpack up further, walking in. Maybe there was some comfy corner she could find herself for the night. But as Rosie stepped into the town, weird visions flooded her brain. She stopped, holding her head.

"Rosie, you've got to go. You've never been to the Enchanted Forest, unlike the rest of us. You can be spared this curse…"

"No! Mom, dad, I'm not leaving. I want to be with you…" Strong arms circled her, kissing her head.

"We want you to be with us too, but we won't risk you being cursed. Not when we don't have to." Charming kissed Rosie's head. There were tears in all their eyes. "I'm sorry." He said. Rosie's eyes widened in horror, she tried to step away, to stop him. But she couldn't. As gently as possible, Charming pushed his youngest daughter over the town line.

Rosie shook her head. That was odd. Maybe the sandwich she had at the bus station was out of date. She kept on walking until she found a little diner called Granny's. She really fancied a cup of hot chocolate. She hoped they had some cinnamon to go on top…
