Mixed up relations- part 6

CharmingsDaughter asked for a oneshot of a further instalment to the "Mixed up relations" series (the last being part 5, Ch2622) where Emma meets up with a secret boyfriend nobody knew anything about. Charming freaks out and tries to put her under house arrest. Snow comes and smooths things over.

"You cannot be serious?!" Snow winced when she heard the scream. She knew for a fact that Emma was in her bedroom, since that is where Charming had demanded that she stayed until he came and spoke to her. Emma's bedroom was three floors up from Snow's study…and on the other side of the castle. She sighed, putting down her quill. Things were obviously not going well. Part of her toyed with the idea of just…pretending she hadn't heard her daughter's outburst. But she knew that could result in her husband's death, and that wouldn't help with adding to the family scandal if they found out the teenaged lovechild had gone and killed her father. Snow sighed, she got up and began dragging her feet towards Emma's room. She had a good idea she knew what this was about, or more specifically, who. Zachary. Emma's secret little boyfriend. She had apparently been seeing him for a year. Only by accident did Snow and Charming find her sneaking around the local village market hand in hand with him. Charming had just about blown a gasket and sent Emma straight up to her room. As Snow approached, she saw why Emma was screaming. Alongside her dad, two guards had been positioned outside the room. As Snow got closer, she heard more of the argument.

"Oh I think you are staying up here, young lady. You'll be staying in this room until I think it's safe for you to come out again."

"Where do you think you've gained the right to call me young lady? You've been my father for all of five minutes and suddenly you think you can boss me around?"

"Ok, enough." Snow said calmly as she entered the room. She was worried this was going to escalate out of control. "You're excused." Snow told the guards outside.

"Snow, I put them there."

"Charming, I appreciate that, but it isn't going to help if they're here." Snow told him. Charming sighed in frustration, but nodded. Having both their approvals, the guards left. Emma pointed an accusing finger at Charming.

"He's trying to lock me in my damn room for all eternity!" Emma screamed.

"Emma, don't overreact." Snow said calmly.

"I'M overreaction?!" Emma's voice only got more high pitched.

"Right now, yes, you are." Snow told her. She then turned to Charming. "But you're not going be locked in your room at all, is she, Charming?" Snow told him.

"Snow." Charming said. He didn't like that she was contradicting him. He took Snow into the corner of the room.

"Snow, she's been sneaking off with some boy right under all our noses for a year." He reminded her. "She's fifteen, Snow. The same age we were when-"

"The same age we were when we had her. I remember." Snow said gently, taking Charming's hand in hers. "So don't you think she knows the potential consequences more than most?"

"I just don't want her to have to go through what we did." Charming said, looking over at the still fuming Emma.

"She won't though, will she?" Snow reminded him. "I don't plan on taking her baby off her, not that she's going to be having one. Don't you remember what it was like with us? My father basically forbid me from seeing you. We got so caught up in sneaking around together that, well," Snow gave him a pointed look. "The best way to push her into doing something stupid is to lock her up here and drive her crazy." Snow pointed out. Charming couldn't deny that she was right. He remembered what it had been like, having to sneak through windows to see her. He placed his hands on his hips, counting to ten.

"No more unsupervised visits." He said, loud enough for Emma to hear.

"At least not just now." Snow added, compromising. Emma looked like she was about to argue. "Emma, you've got to give a little here." Snow told her. Neither Emma or Charming seemed particularly happy with the new arrangement, but at least they weren't yelling anymore. Right at that moment, anyway.
