A/N: This felt kinda rushed tbh, but I just wanted to get this outta my head once and for all.
Everyone was eager to make a break for the ball that was positioned in the middle of the field. Located just outside of Princess Peach's Castle, there was a rather fierce game of 3 on 3 kart soccer action waiting to ensue. Two teams, blue and orange, were situated on opposite sides of the ball, each team member in a certain spot.
The blue team, or in this case, Team Mario consisted of none other than the mustachioed twins themselves, Mario and Luigi, and the Princess, Princess Peach precisely. The opposing orange team, aka Team Bowser, had both notorious baddies, Bowser and Bowser Jr., and a lone Koopa Troopa to support them, not that they cared anyway, since they frequently thought of themselves as better than everyone else, despite being defeated by Mario and co countless times on numerous adventures.
Mario and his bro had similar karts, Mario's kart had a large wing at its rear, as did Luigi's. Both brothers' karts had red and green color schemes, respectively, with yellow stars on the hood and sides. The karts sported bumpers with headlights at the front, and red Slim wheels. Peach's kart resembled something of a typical olden muscle car, with a light pink scheme with baby blue stripes and a black wing in the rear.
Bowser was sitting in a matte green kart that had blades on its bumper, and pipes coming from out beneath, with flames leaving the exhaust. Yeah, the rims of the wheels had spikes on them too, if you must know. Junior camped out the opposite of him in an orange van-like kart with a dark green bumper. Koopa Troopa was spotted in a yellow kart with a roundish body, and four legs with wheels attached.
A Lakitu flying in his cloud holding a stoplight from a fishing rod appeared from somewhere above, descending to the center of the field. The drivers waited in anticipation as he counted down with his fingers, 3...2...1...
When he hit 0, he just barely made it safely back up to the sky, as the players closest to the ball accelerated forward, with Bowser doing an air-roll into the ball, but Mario jumping to block it from progressing.
While Mario and Bowser were on the offensive, Peach and Koopa Troopa were playing defense. Koopa sat still nervously at the goal, fully aware of what the brothers were capable of, but this was no time to be rattled, Bowser was counting on him to defend their goal, because after all if he wasn't able to...
And the princess had a different approach from Koopa's: occasionally moving halfway downfield to cover more area, watching the ball, but also watching her teammates and opponents too.
"Koopa certainly isn't a good goalkeeper, not that he should be a goalkeeper in the first place, rotation is key." Peach mused.
And she was right, for Koopa was overcommitting, or staying at the goal for longer than he needed to.
Luigi and Bowser Jr. were offering support for their strikers, Luigi staying close, but not too close behind Mario, reading the opponent's moves. Junior, however, had started ballchasing, which was bad because Bowser was also doing the same. He blocked the ball from rolling towards the goal and started pushing it along the wall.
"I got it! I got it!" Junior shouted frantically, but Bowser was already lunging towards the ball for a powershot.
They bumped karts as they both tried to hit the ball, which resulted in both spinning out.
"GRAAAWW! Junior, what was that for?" Bowser questioned.
"What do you mean papa? You shouldn't have gone for the ball!"
While the two were bickering, their side of the field was left wide open. Mario dribbled the ball up the wall, hit it into the air, and air dribbled it to the goal, making sure it stayed balanced on the nose of the kart, while he stayed up in the air by feathering his boost.
Koopa was intimidated by Mario's freestyling, so much that he forgot to jump and block the shot.
Mario scored the goal, with a red goal explosion and a giant 8-bit version of himself appearing in it. "Lets-a go!"
"GRRRRR! What a save, actually that was a terrible save! What ARE you doing?!" Bowser called out to Koopa Troopa.
Koopa simply replied by retracting into his shell.
"Aw man, we gotta call it quits. That Mario's driving skills are no match for ours!" Junior implied.
"Good idea son, let's scram!" Bowser added.
And with that, they both boosted out of the stadium, leaving behind their shelled minion.
With Koopa Troopa being the only player on the team left, he thought carefully about h- oh, nope, he's fleeing as well. And he hit a wall on his way out, too.
Amused by how the opposing team forfeited the match because of only one goal, Luigi let out a sort of cry of triumph. "What a bunch of-a sore losers!"
Team Mario won this match, by a forfeit and a win of 1-0. It makes you kinda think why anybody would leave a match this early, 1 goal is easy to recover from.
