Grissom had called later that day asking if it was okay with Sara if he could come round in the morning to give her her birthday presents from Leo, to which she agreed to. As agreed he showed up with gifts in hand, he once again rang the doorbell and got no answer so let himself in. He made his way upstairs to the bedroom and found Leo and Sara along with Buddy all fast asleep in bed together. He smiled at the three of them then sighed, he wished things were different between him and Sara but knew he would work hard to show her that she could trust him again.
He made his way over to the bed and sat on the edge, setting the bag of gifts down beside him.
"Sara" he whispered softly.
"It's just after 10, time to wake up" he gently shook her.
She slowly began to wake up.
"Happy birthday Sar" Grissom said kissing her cheek softly.
She blushed at first but quickly turned her head to look at her son.
"Um, thanks. I didn't mean to sleep that long" she mumbled.
"It's your birthday so it's allowed. I'm surprised the little guys still asleep" he said all nervous.
"He was up most the night, refused to go to sleep so I let him watch a movie so I could sleep" she laughed.
Grissom shook his head and laughed. The two watched the little boy who had a thumb in his mouth and a hand in Sara's hair, his feet were placed on Buddy's back.
"He always sleeps in strange positions" Grissom laughed.
"OMG, you should have seen him the other night" Sara laughed. "He was sprawled in a starfish position, his top off and on his head, mouth wide open and snoring as loud as you"
The two laughed, thinking of the image of their son.
"How are you feeling this morning?" he asked gesturing to her stomach.
"We're both fine" she smiled, the two held each others gaze for a second.
"I guess I should wake the little guy up" she sighed.
"Yeah, do you want me to make you some waffles? I know they're you're favourite, I even bought chocolate sauce" he winked.
For a moment the two acted as if nothing was wrong between them, that everything was okay.
"Sounds good, thank you" she smiled.
Grissom smiled back at her and left to go make them all waffles. Sara eventually woke Leo up as Grissom brought in their plate of waffles and chocolate sauce.
"Who's ready for waffles?"
"DADDY!" Leo shouted as he saw Grissom enter.
"Hey Buddy! You have a good night?" he asked his son as he sat on the bed once again and passing the waffles to Sara.
"Thanks" she smiled.
"YEAH! Mama let me watch movies and we pwayed wif Buddy and then papa swoke to us on da phwne" Leo explained as he moved into Grissom's arms.
"Aren't you a lucky boy, now what do you say to mummy?" he whispered in the little boys ear.
"Happy Bwrthday Mama" he shouted.
"Thank you baby, you want to help me eat my waffles?" she asked him knowing they were his favourite.
"Yes pwease mama" he grinned.
The two of them started eating their breakfast, Sara noticed Grissom sitting looking at his hands. She felt bad for not trusting him, she loved him so much and wanted nothing more than to hug him and tell him she did and that everything would be okay, but she couldn't. At least not yet.
"You want some?" Sara asked offering his a piece of waffle as a piece offering.
Grissom smiled and leaned over to take the piece of waffle.
"Thanks"
"No problem, least I could do since you made them" she replied.
The two didn't pay any attention as to what their son was doing and didn't see the chocolate sauce all over his hands.
"Dada" he said tapping his chocolate covered hands on his dads nice clean shirt.
"Leo baby, stop that! You're getting your dad all dirty" Leo said grabbing the little boys hands.
"Sara, its okay. I can change, I've still got clothes here" Grissom told her.
Sara nodded and wiped Leos dirty hands. The three of them then finished eating the rest of their waffles.
"Dada, pwesent time?" Leo asked.
"Sure thing buddy" Grissom said placing the bag of gifts on the bed.
Leo handed him mum the first present which was her favourite perfume.
"Wow, thank you so much baby!" she said kissing him on the nose.
"Its your favwurite mama" he smiled.
Sara also received some new trainers, a Pandora charm bracelet which can with a love heart charm on it that she secretly knew was from Grissom even if he said it was from Leo. She also got a new scraf and some clothes as well as her favourite chocolates.
"Wow, you really have spoiled me baby boy" Sara said to Leo.
"You wike them?"
"I love them baby, thank you so much. Now why don't you go and brush your teeth for mummy and wash your hand and face?"
"Okay mama, I a big boy and I can do it all by myswlf" Leo smiled as he got off the bed and ran to the bathroom across the hall.
Sara looked at Grissom and smiled "Thank you for all my gifts, you really didn't have to do all this"
"Of course I did, I know you might not want to hear this right now but I still love you Sara and I want you to have the best birthday" he told her looking at his hands.
"Thank you" she smiled.
"I um, I got you one last gift, just from me though. I saw you looking at it a few weeks ago and thought you could wear it today" he said passing her a gift he had hidden.
"Oh, um thank you" she said taking the gift from him.
She opened it and saw it was a beautiful cream floral print strappy layered skater dress. She had seen it and fell in love with it but put herself off buying it, thankfully.
"I love it Griss, thank you" she said leaning over to kiss his cheek.
Grissom smiled at this and looked at her, they were less than an inch apart, both staring into each others eyes.
"You're welcome baby" he whispered.
The two slowly moved in when Leo came running through.
"I all done mama and dada" he said smiling to show off his clean teeth.
The two jumped away from each other and blushed, Leo jumped on the bed and whispered to his dad.
"You and mama neawly kissed" he giggled.
Grissom smiled and hugged his son.
"Why don't we go get you dressed while mummy gets ready" Grissom said getting up from the bed with his son in his arms.
"Yeah!"
"Thanks" Sara whispered as they left the bedroom.
Sara went to have a quick shower, when she got out she wrapped a towel around her body and walked into the bed room where she she started drying her hair. Meanwhile Grissom changed his son into some khaki shorts with a white and khaki top. He then put on a pair of white trainers after putting his son's socks on.
"Check you handsome guy" Grissom said as Leo got up and posed in his new outfit.
"Me look swart dada?"
"Yes son, very smart. Why don't you go and show mummy?"
"Yeah! You come wif me" he said taking his dads hand and dragging him to his parents bedroom.
Sara finished drying her hair and was applying a light layer of makeup, still in just her towel. Once finished she stood up just as Leo and Grissom walked in.
"Sara! Um, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to walk in on you in, in a um, in a towel" he said feeling very nervous.
"I um, it's okay. You've seen it all before" she joked trying to get ride of the awkwardness.
"And I liked what I seen then just as much as I do now" he said flirting back to her.
Sara blushed, Leo was was tired of not getting any attention.
"Mama! Wook at me, I wook cool" Leo said as he tried to strut his way over to her and posed.
"You look very cool baby, but I think you've been spending too much time with uncle Greg" she laughed.
Leo continued to pose making his parents laugh.
"Okay Mr poser, mummy needs to get changed and daddy needs to change out of his chocolate covered top" Sara laughed.
Leo smiled and climbed onto his parents bed next to Buddy, he sat playing with the dog while his parents got changed. Sara grabbed her clothes and got changed in the bathroom while Grissom looked through the wardrobe to find another top. He picked out a blue shirt Sara liked, hoping it would make her smile. He then took his dirty shirt off tossing it in the laundry basket. Just then Sara walked out of the bathroom and straight into a bare chested Grissom.
"Careful" Grissom said wrapping his arms around her to steady her,
"Um, thanks Gil" she whispered her hand gripping his shoulders.
The two leaned in closer to each other, for a moment nothing but the two of them existed. Just as they were about to kiss Leo once again interrupted them.
"Mama!"
The two sighed and turned to their son.
"You okay baby?" she asked walking over to him.
"I need a dwink" he smiled.
Sara laughed "sure thing baby".
"I'll get it Sar" Grissom said as he left the room to get some water for his son.
When he returned to the room he passed Leo his sippy cup, he then looked at Sara who was very pale all of a sudden.
"Sar, are you okay?" he asked just as she winced in pain.
"My stomach hurts Griss" she said wincing again and grabbing hold of her stomach.
Grissom ran over to her and knelt in front of her "It's okay baby, just breathe and tell me where it hurts"
He knew she was starting to panic and needed her to calm down.
"My stomach, Griss the baby, what, what if something's wrong" she cried.
"It's going to be okay baby, I promise, I'm going to take you to the hospital and we're going to get you checked out. Okay?"
Sara nodded as the tears fell down her face.
"Okay, put some shoes on and I'll grab Leo" he told her rushing to pick his son up.
Sara put her flip flops on, Grissom then grabbed her hand and the two rushed to the car. Grissom made sure Leo and Sara were both secure in the car before rushing to Dessert Palms hospital. When they entered the hospital Grissom rushed to the desk.
"My fiances pregnant and having really bad pains in her stomach, I need a doctor and ASAP!" he told the receptionist.
Just as he said that Sara let out a scream scaring Grissom, Leo and the receptionist. A doctor ran straight over to her with a wheel chair rushing her into a room, Grissom running behind them with Leo in his arms. Another doctor stopped him saying he needed to wait while the doctor examined her.
Over an hour later a doctor came to Grissom who was now in the waiting room with a sleeping Leo in his arms.
"Mr Grissom, Sara and the baby are both fine. She was experiencing some severe cramps, some of the worst I've ever seen, but the good thing is they are both going to be fine. We are going to keep her in for a few hours just to keep an eye on her though."
"Can I see her?"
The doctor smiled and nodded "she asked to see you as soon as possible."
Grissom smiled hearing this and followed the doctor to her room. He saw Sara lying in her bed and let out a breath he didn't realise he was holding.
"Sar" he said rushing over.
"The baby's okay Griss" she smiled taking his spare hand.
"I heard, I'm so glad you are both okay. I don't know what I would have done if something happened, to either of yous" he said letting a single tear fall down his face.
Sara saw this and placed a hand on his cheek, wiping the tear away.
"Thank you for getting me here so quickly" she whispered.
"Anytime" he whispered back, placing his hand on Sara's one that was on his cheek still.
Leo was still asleep in his arms during this "I think I should put him down"
Sara nodded, Grissom placed their son at the end of the bed. He then sat in the seat next to Sara's bed, pulling it closer to the bed.
"Griss, I'm sorry" she sighed.
"What for Sar?" Grissom asked confused at what she was apologising for.
"For overreacting to the whole kiss thing, for giving you the cold shoulder the past few weeks, for hurting you. I wanted to come back home the minute I left that night but I was embarrassed about how I reacted. I'm so sorry Griss" she cried.
"Sara baby, you have nothing to be sorry for. I should have told you straight away, I'm so sorry baby" Grissom said taking her hand and kissing it.
"How can you be so nice to me after everything Griss?"
"Because I love you and I know in the moment you felt hurt, I'm sorry you felt that way Sar, I love you with all my heart" he said leaning closer to her, his own tears falling down his face.
"I love you too Griss"
They two closed the gap between them and kissed for the first time in weeks.
"God I've missed you" Grissom said as they broke their kiss.
Sara giggled "I've missed you too baby"
Grissom kissed her again taking her face in his hands.
"I've missed you calling me that as well" he blushed.
Sara laughed again "Will you get in bed with me?"
"You don't need to ask me twice" he grinned getting in the bed beside her and taking her into his arms.
"I'm so glad you're both okay Sar, I"
Sara stopped him "Don't Griss, let's just be happy, okay?"
Grissom nodded his head "So much for you having a great birthday" he sighed.
"I don't think its gone too bad, expect for being in hospital" she joked.
"I've got my favourite two guys in my bed, a baby in the oven and I got my favourite breakfast" she smiled.
"I guess when you put it like that it doesn't sound too bad" he smiled.
"I phoned you're dad while I was waiting, said that I thought it might be best if you went home after this. I didn't say anything about the baby, so don't worry" she told her.
"Thank you, I think I just want to go home after this"
"Sounds good to me, I could maybe order takeout" he suggested.
"Chinese?"
"Whatever you want" he smiled.
The two of them lay there in each others arms happy for the first time in weeks.
