Chapter 23

Once we arrived at Malfoy's work, I had Kerry notify Draco and Blaise to come immediately to my office and that Harry would be joining us. I knew Draco would be instantly pissed because he would assume, I went around his back. Meanwhile Harry was glaring daggers at me as he began to realize just who would be explaining what was going on. I was certainly going to get an earful once we were in the office. Harry of course told her to promptly stop all packages from arriving at the company and for them not to be sent to any other place, along with notifying security that they would be requested for a meeting.

"What is going on? First an explosion in your office and you can't even tell me what you're thinking until Malfoy and Blaise arrive! What the hell did they get you into?!" Harry blurted out, face turning slightly red, "I'm going to kill them!"

"Harry! You have to calm down; I knew what I was getting into." I began with a sigh. How the hell could I explain this without breaking my contract and giving the other two enough time to get here?

Instead of getting him to calm down, I had just set him off more, "Oh! That's just great!" He began pacing about with his arms waving about, "What a load of bullocks! You knew what you were getting yourself into? Ha! If you knew that than why the hell did someone just try to attack you huh?!"

"Harry-"

"Don't Harry me, Eva. Do you realize how petrified I was that something happened you when it came out it was from the Investment floor of Gringotts!" Harry continued to yell. I don't think I could have felt even smaller than I did now. "You should realize that Gringotts security is insane and for this person to be able to still get a package in- well I mean- this isn't just some bloke." Harry rambled on in his rant of frustration.

Granted I knew I had this coming and who was I to tell Harry he was overreacting. The more he rambled on the worse that sickening feeling pooled in my stomach. I was so nervous. What if they sent something to my house!? Maybe I shouldn't have done this? No- wait, I never would have been able to walk away without helping Draco. I mean. Someone or multiple people were blatantly stealing his money.

Bang! Harry stopped his rant as the door slammed open to show Blaise and Draco both rushing into the room. I stopped Harry from continuing his rant at Draco so I could get a word in before the two got into a duel with each other.

"There was an accident at my office at Gringotts." I blurted out.

It immediately got all heads to snap in my direction, "What?" Draco responded first, the annoyance dropping and being replaced with concern.

"Someone tried to harm her." Harry piped in, earning a glare from me.

"What happened?"

Harry took control and launched into a full account of how the Aurors were alerted and the details the staff all gave; before finalizing into me showing up at the office. "She's brought me here." Harry states giving Blaise and Draco a glare, "stating she can't fully explain without the two of you. I hope you haven't dragged her into something Malfoy."

A sickening silence followed, and Draco's eyes snapped to me. Shrugging my shoulders in response to the quirked eyebrow. I waited. Draco would ultimately have to be the one that started talking and I was sure he understood why I dragged Harry here without an explanation.

Blaise let out a huff, shifting his weight in the process, "Fuck Malfoy. I think he's going to have to know." risking a glance at Harry, "Hell, he's not going to be leaving until he gets to the bottom of it."

Draco's eyes glanced back to mine before a sigh of resignation left him and he finally stepped into the room, "I hired Eva out of the context that she would be my financial handler and that's I allowed my old investment board and Gringotts to know. What I really hired her for-" He paused gazing long at Harry, as if he could be trusted without signing a contract.

"Go on Draco." I urged, earning a glare from Harry who was now standing with his arms crossed.

"I actually hired her to find out who's been stealing money from the Company. No one knows and I made her sign a confidentiality agreement that she wouldn't talk or make any kind of hint to anyone about why I really hired her. Which is why she told you she couldn't explain without me being here."

Harry blinked, adjusting his glasses, "Wha-?"

"Can we all sit down at least. We're going to be here a bit." I remarked pulling a chair out.

Draco rolled his eyes, "She's been helping me investigate how someone or more than one person has been able to keep taking money out of an account that's only for investment business. Blaise and I have spent a year trying to get answers before I finally approached Gringotts about hiring her. We had just figured out who was behind authorizing the money to come out and I would bet that either that person or if they were working for someone found out."

Harry glanced between all of us, "Do I even dare ask why you didn't just bring this into the Aurors Department and let us investigate?"

"I couldn't be sure on who was behind this and how influential they were. No offense but if the Aurors department got whiff of anything odd here, how long do you think it would be before it's splashed over the newspapers and I would never find out who would be behind it? Let alone people would assume I'm lying because I'm a Malfoy."

He had a valid point and I watched to see how Harry would respond. Always one to stand up for the Aurors department and they job, I wasn't sure if he would blow up or hear what Draco was trying to say. Draco held Harry's gaze unwilling to back down on how he felt about how he handled this situation.

A sigh was admitted, and Harry tore his eyes away, "I'm going to regret saying this but you're probably right. Someone would end up leaking the information and Rita would come up with anything for media press."

The was a slight relaxation to both Draco and Blaise, their shoulders relaxed, and they leaned back in their chairs knowing that Harry believe them. I was impressed that Harry accepted everything so easily and it didn't take more for him to understand.

"You do know that you'll now need to involve me from here on out, along with actually bringing me up to speed on what has been going on." Harry spoke firmly, glancing at each of us, "Someone intended to harm Eva and that isn't okay. They may continue to lash out in more harmful ways if they catch you continuing to dig."

"Harry we have to continue. We're so close!" I interjected.

"I didn't say you needed to stop. I only mean that someone meant to harm you and could do worse in the future, especially if they were able to penetrate Gringotts security. I'll have to sweep your apartment, in the meantime who knows if they'll send anything there or attempt to."

"I'll have security sweep Blaise and I's apartment. Let me have Kerry dispatch them now." Draco states.

He left the room and I glanced back at Harry, "Can you let me know if you find anything at my apartment?"

His gaze softens and nodded, "I'll leave straight from here to your place, along with a few other Aurors as precaution. Owl me. I want to know everything tonight. In the meantime, your office is off limits. I can gather anything you need there."

"No, I had anything of importance on me when I got to the office. I do need to speak with Claire though, that was why I showed up."

"Be careful, all right. You do realize that our friends will hear about the explosion and will be wanting an explanation, besides the fact that I need to have a story for my paperwork."

"I-"

"Kerry's owl'd them now and we'll see what happens. In the meantime, Potter we have more pressing things to talk about." Draco interrupts launching into where we were with our lead. Did Beatrice Wolf know we were digging while she was here at work? Could more than one person be involved to time this so soon to when we got the authorization paperwork?
