Chapter 25

The next morning, I met with Draco, updating him on everything that Harry had added in ideas regarding our current situation. He refused to speak to his father regarding it. Harry did have a valid point that we could not rule out Lucius. A positive note to all of this was Auror's were able to trace magic in the floo network at Draco's office, signifying that Beatrice most likely sent a message as she was about to flee herself. Unfortunately, it will take some time before they are able to determine where the intended message was being sent to.

I now had an undercover Auror, both following me and some stationed near my apartment in order to make sure no other incident occurred. That morning we spent time trying to see if we could find anything out from what we had gathered so far.

"There has to be some small detail that was left behind." Blaise remarked, falling into a chair after leaning over ledgers for an hour.

"We would have found it by now." Draco remarked curtly, shoulders tense.

If only- I thought glancing about at the parchment scattered about the office table. What the- something caught my eye and I leaned over pushing parchment out of the way.

It was the correspondence between Gringotts and the Bulgaria Wizarding Bank that tied Beatrice to Draco's problem. Wait a second. Bulgaria Wizarding Bank! Jacob! How could I miss this! "Oh shit!" I exclaim, excitement coursing through me.

"What?" Draco remark sitting up sharply.

"We did miss something. This!" I stated, fluttering the parchment and continuing; ignoring the fact that Draco had now ripped it out of my hands. "We forgot that Beatrice had made an account at the Bulgaria Wizarding Bank."

"What the hell does that mean to us exactly?" Blaise retorted.

"It-"

"It means Jacob Grant." Draco finished as we both grinned stupidly at each other.

"Grant? Your old investment partners?"

"Yes." I supplied, "The last time we spoke he was trying to get our boss to put him on a new investment deal. More importantly, a new investment deal with the Bulgaria Wizarding Bank. There's a rumor going around that BWB is trying to hook a deal with Gringotts since we've secured Desmarais."

"So, you think if Grant does get this investment deal, we'll be able to ask someone to do us a favor?"

"No, not Grant. Draco." I locked eyes with Draco and a smirk began to form as he read my thoughts, "Exactly."

Blaise scratch his facial hair and glanced back and for at us, "I'm not following."

"Eva had asked me to help Jacob out regarding the BWB and whether or not they were wanting to establish a partnership with Gringotts. Grant is still green in dealing with BWB and so even if he were assigned the job BWB would never divulge him extra information. However, the Malfoy Company has an already long-established relationship with them. So much so that they owe us a favor-" Draco began, as Blaise and I both leaned in as he continued on.

Bulgaria Wizarding Bank founding father was distant relation to the Malfoy bloodline and when the Wizarding Wars first started the BWB came to the Malfoy Company hoping to channel money through investments that involved people favoring the pureblood cause but didn't want it splashed over the news. Once the Malfoy Company took investment from the BWB it opened new channels for them because soon other old pureblood families followed suit. The BWB had less restrictions and regulations attached to their investments, along with other money marketing venues compared to England and France, which favored pureblood family's interest and secrecy.

I had heard rumors of this through my training but to have Draco standing here telling me, it was unbelievable. Everyone knows this is happening behind the scenes, but you can never catch it because the roots are so deep. Loyalties are bought and tied to the transfer of money and goods.

"I have already been approached by a representative of BWB since I had the Company make an investment in Desmarais." Dracon confessed, "Let me see if I can set up a meeting."

"Damn." Blaise responded, completely speechless. "I cannot believe how insane this has turned out. I had always assumed it was some smart-ass bloke who wanted to revenge his family from either the Malfoy's or Voldemort. Now, it is turned into a fucking man hunt twist. Who the fuck is the joint owner on that account?!"

We nodded in agreement. Draco would send the owl; Blaise was handling the new security protocols to make sure nothing like this happened again. I was already back in my office sending an owl to Claire telling her to start producing new security protocols on Gringotts side, along with another owl to Paul Hurchilde in the MCH Department asking for alerts on all Malfoy accounts. Along with paperwork Draco signed authorizing me to receive the alerts and to have the MCH Department to immediately freeze outgoing transactions until notified by personal contact by Draco, Blaise or me. With it being a Friday, I could only hope that we moved fast enough to get everyone to process everything before the weekend, incase anything tried to hit on Monday morning.

…..

Friday night was packed with everyone out and about, chattering excitedly about the game. Puddlemere United vs Montrose Magpies were facing off at 7 pm and I was moving through Diagon Alley where I was scheduled to meet the gang to take a portkey to the stadium. I made sure to owl Draco telling him where we would be located since, I knew he would be there too. My bodyguard named Dillan trailed behind me in the crowd so that we could not get separated. Finally reaching my destination, I pushed the woodened doors open and stepped into the Leaky Cauldron.

An onslaught of dim lighting and boisterous noise hit me, the smell of liquor and beer followed behind. The place was jammed packed wall to wall and I quickly moved out of the entrance as a group of United fans almost ran me down. Scanning the room quickly I found hand movement where Harry and Ron were waiting for me.

"Hi guys." I stated, pulling back after giving them a hug.

"Hello. Ready to go?" Harry asked before sending a quick nod to Dillan, in acknowledgement.

"Yup."

With that I followed them as we pushed through a door behind the bar and the noise turned into a fad as we headed to the portkey that The Leaky Cauldron had acquired. Stopping in front of an old jar of whiskey Harry glanced at the group of us and with a quick nod, we all reached out and felt the familiar lurch of the portkey. Stumbling slightly, I took around my surroundings.

Chatter filled my ears, along singing of your typical Quidditch cheers as well as laughter. I glanced about as I followed Harry and Ron to our seats, having already dropped the girls and the kids there earlier. Many had camped out in the field that Draco and I had walked through in what seems like ages ago. Once stepping through the entrance of the stadium we started our path to climbing steps or pathways trying to weave your way around people. The atmosphere was infectious, laughter, signing, worries forgot for the night. I breathed in deeps hoping it was something I could inhale and let the stress from the man hunt go for the evening.

"Auntie Eva!"

Smiling bright I pulled James into a big hug as he greeted me, soon followed by the others, "Hi guys. It's good to see you. I love your makeup."

"Thanks! Mum did it for everyone." James remarked before the getting distracted by Rose and moving towards the railing and peering out.

"I see you made it here okay." Hermione remarked pulling me into a hug, followed by Ginny.

"Of course."

"We're going to grab drinks for everyone, do you want anything?" Ron asked turning to me expectantly.

"Sure. I'll have beer." He nodded and both Harry and him disappeared in the crowd from where our seats were located. "Ow!" I yelped after I received a smack from Ginny.

"What was that for?" I exclaimed rubbing my arm.

"Harry told us what happened. Have us all worried about what you are up to at Malfoy's Company that has someone setting an explosion off in your office. He wouldn't give us answer and said he wasn't allowed to tell us!" She remarked her nose flaring in annoyance.

I winced as Hermione nodded in agreement, "I'm sorry I don't want you guys to worry about me."

"So? Are you going to tell us what's really going on, or not?" Ginny demanded; hands placed on her hips that reminded me too much of Mrs. Weasley.

"I - "

"Eva, dear!" A voice called out behind me. Speak of the devil, I smiled brightly at Mr. and Mrs. Weasley as she pulled me into a hug, "It's so good to see you my dear! You must come over for dinner sometime, I know everyone would be glad to see you."

"Molly dear. Don't bombard the young women." Arthur remarked, pulling me into a hug as well, "Always nice to see you."

"I'm glad to see the both of you as well." I remarked laughing as she immediately got distracted by her grandchildren and off, she went pulling them into hugs.

"Where are the boys?" Arthur asked settling into his chair.

"They went out to get drinks. They should be back soon." Hermione answered brushing stray curls out of her face, "Will anyone else from the Weasley clan be joining us?"

"George was tied up with the shop tonight. Business was busy with people wanting stuff for tonight. Percy of course cannot be bothered with a Quidditch match."

Both Arthur and Molly took over watching the kids and before long Harry and Ron came back and we all began to settle in our seats with drinks and food for everyone, included snacks for the kids. The noise leveled increased as the game began, I settled in my seat chatting with Hermione as the boys and Ginny got sucked into the match.

"Besides not being able to tell us what's exactly going on with the Malfoy Company has everything been okay between Draco and you?"

I cringed slightly, feeling terrible that I haven't been able to be completely honest with them, "You know I would tell you everything if I could about my role at there. We have been okay. It's strange that it happened so quickly but since day one we've been working together the entire time."

She nodded her head, ducking as Ron jumped up, swinging his arms near her face at one of the calls, "I'm glad. You both deserve this, and you do make a good couple. Even when the two of you were younger, it was always hidden with how deep the lines went on which side people chose."

"That is sweet of you to say. I do hope it does work out but it's still too early to tell." I remarked as she got pulled into something Rose needed and I focused back on the two teams playing. Whatever chemistry Draco and I have it certainly makes it seem like dating would work but with how much of our time has been spent on this case its pushed everything else to the side.
