May muses 27: Catch

Day 27 of May Muses! The idea for today: Charming and Neal playing catch.

"Ok buddy, you ready?" Charming asked as he crouched down, baseball in his un-gloved hand. Neal nodded, his tongue between his teeth in concentration. Charming smiled at that. He was just too darn cute. As gently as possible, Charming tossed the ball to his son. Neal tried his best, but wasn't quite right with the aiming. "You're getting closer, buddy." Charming said, hating how disheartened Neal looked. His tee-ball season started again soon, so Charming had wanted to go over a few basics with him as a refresher. "Just remember what daddy told you. Where do you look?"

"At the ball." Neal chirped.

"Where do we not look?"

"At my glove."

"Good boy." Charming praised him, picking the ball back up. "Let's try one more time. Remember, look at the ball, not your glove." Once again, Charming lightly tossed the ball. Neal focused really hard, making sure to look at the ball. This time, it landed in his glove. Charming whooped with joy coming over and picking Neal up, tossing him in the air.

"That's my boy!" He praised him. Neal laughed proudly. He had caught the ball. "We're gonna make a proper little star out of you, huh?" Charming said, tickling his belly. Neal giggled as Charming set him back down. He knew that, no matter how Neal did in his games, he would always be proud of him. Just for being him.
