Mixed up relations- part 7

A guest asked for a oneshot of a further instalment to the "Mixed up relations" miniseries (the last being part 6, Ch2634) where Emma calls them mom and dad for the first time and fluff ensues.

Snow and Charming were both trying desperately hard not to push things with Emma, but it was a tricky situation. They also had to deal with the transition for Neal and Rosie. They too were having to accept that Emma wasn't their young auntie, but their big sister. It was a conversation that Emma would overhear between Rosie and her mom one night as Snow put Rosie to bed that would set some wheels in motion.

"But if Emma's my big sister, why does she still call you and daddy Snow and David?" Rosie asked her mom.

"It's not that simple, sweetheart." Snow sighed.

"But why?" Rosie complained. "You are her mommy and daddy, so why doesn't she call you mommy and daddy?" She asked. Snow sighed. How did she explain this all to such a little girl? It was hard enough getting Emma to understand.

"It's complicated, sweetheart." Snow repeated, tucking some loose hairs behind Rosie's ear. "Emma grew up thinking my parents were her parents. She was used to calling them mom and dad. She was used to calling me and daddy Snow and David. It's going to take time for her to get used to."

"Does that mean I should still be calling her auntie Emma?" Rosie asked. It was all so confusing. Snow kissed her forehead.

"No, baby. You just call her Emma now."

Neither knew that Emma had overheard the majority of their conversation. She sighed. She knew her parents wanted her to call them mom and dad, even if they didn't say it out loud. It had been a few months. She supposed maybe she could give it a try…

The next day, around the breakfast table, Emma's heart was hammering. She tried to stay calm. She didn't want to look like she was trying too hard.

Charming was the first to finish. He got up, kissed each of them and went to get started with his day.

"Have a good morning, dad." Emma croaked. Charming froze at the doorway. He turned around, looking at Emma in sheer shock. He and Snow then made eye contact. He wanted to jump up and down and yell out, but like Emma, he knew it was best to play it cool.

"Thanks sweetheart." He said, you too. He then left the room, feeling lighter than air. Snow, meanwhile, felt a little deflated. She didn't think she was anywhere near getting a mom. She was, of course, happy for Charming, but it didn't mean she couldn't feel a little bummed.

"Will you be joining us for lunch, mom?" Emma asked casually. Snow just about dropped her fork. It had happened!

"Um, yes." Snow said, after realising she actually had to answer Emma. She remained calm, but couldn't help the massive smile that spread across her face. "Yes, I will." Beside Emma, Rosie sighed.

"Told ya." She grumbled. Why had nobody listened to her? It wasn't that hard!
