Slip ups
Claudia asked for a oneshot of *minor season 6 spoilers* Snowing babysitting Eira a lot while her parents are at work. They take a slight advantage over how much Eira looks like her mom and start accidentally calling her Emma and referring to themselves as mommy and daddy. They don't realise the slip ups are becoming more frequent until Henry points it out one day.
She was just about the double of her mother. Little Eira looked exactly like Emma did when she was a little girl. It was almost spooky, in a way.
Charming and Snow often babysat their baby granddaughter. Since her parents co-ran the sheriff station, they relied a lot on Emma's parents for childcare. Not that Snow or Charming minded, they enjoyed the quality time they got with Eira. The problems came as Eira got to be a tiny bit older, and it was becoming just how apparent the seven month old looked just like her mother. Plus, the names were so similar, it was just too easy for Snow and Charming to sometimes slip up and call her Emma. Then that led to a different problem. When they thought of Eira as Emma, they thought of the relationship differently. They were Emma's parents, so they would refer to themselves as mommy and daddy. The first few times had been innocent slips. As time went by, Snow and Charming had more and more of these slips whilst they watched Eira. They didn't even notice it was happening. That was, until Henry was watching his baby sister with them one day and picked up on it.
"Alright princess Emma…"
"Emma?" Henry asked. Snow froze. Had she slipped up again.
"Sorry, similar names." Snow tried to shrug it off. Charming could see Snow floundering, so decided to step in.
"Here, why don't you let daddy…"
"Daddy?" Henry asked quizzically. Charming's own eyes widened in horror. He had slipped up too.
"Old habits, I was so used to saying it for Neal." Charming excused himself. "Plus, you just brought up Emma." He pointed out. Henry shrugged it off. Snow and Charming looked at each other guiltily. They were going to have to be more careful. It wasn't fair to anyone, especially Eira. They were her grandparents, this wasn't some way of getting back what they lost with Emma. All they would end up doing would be ruining their time with their granddaughter. No, this had to stop.
