A/N: So...this was inspired by a thing I read in English class called Learning to be Silent. It made me start thinking about what silence meant to different people and at different times. And this happened. If anyone likes it or has ideas for more let me know.

Peace

Obi-wan shut the doors to his chambers and breathed in deeply. Silence. There was noise everywhere else. Blaster-fire, the ship's engines, people talking, but when Obi-wan could find a moment of silence, he enjoyed it. As he sat down to meditate, Obi-wan smiled. Finally, a moment of peace.

Fear

Krell loved the silence he drew from the clones. He glowered down at them—abominable creatures—and bared his teeth in a slow smile.

"Does anyone disagree?" He asked, in reference to the plan that would surely get most of them killed. Silence. Krell smiled. Silence was the sound of fear.

Disrespect

Brik glowered down at the clone.

"Who did this?" He demanded. "I know it was one of your squadmates. Tell me now!" The trooper remained stubbornly silent.

"Speak!" Brik ordered. The trooper lifted his chin. Disrespectful. Brik thought with disgust.

Death

Cody forced himself to remain silent. He was physically shaking, trembling from the utter, dead silence. He couldn't speak though. That would be…wrong. The general was… Kenobi's head was lowered as he placed a hand over the fallen trooper's chest. Then he spoke, shattering the silence.

"There is only the Force." Kenobi whispered, a broken noise. Cody knew better. There was death. There was silence.

Avoid attention

Stay out of his notice. It was the only way to survive around Krell. The trooper ducked his head and didn't speak, dodging out of his general's way. Krell was always looking for troopers who would challenge him. The clone knew better than that. He stayed silent and avoided his general as best as he could.

Unafraid

Ventress hissed as Skywalker smirked at her. She ignited both of her crimson lightsabers and dragged them along the ground as she walked towards the irritatingly smug Jedi.

"I will kill you, Jedi!" She snarled. Skywalker's expression didn't change. He didn't even draw his lightsaber. Ventress slashed at him. Skywalker ducked the blade and spun around behind her. He didn't say a word as he ignited his lightsaber. The smile said it all. I'm not afraid of you, Ventress. Ventress attacked.

Defiance

"Do you have anything to say for yourself?" Mace Windu demanded. Anakin raised his chin, folded his arms, and remained silent. He had been right. Windu scowled.

"Skywalker…" Anakin didn't speak. Windu shook his head in exasperation. "Do you have to defy the Council?" He muttered. Anakin didn't reply.

Memory/grief

Obi-wan hadn't realized that Cody had been so hurt. He felt his commander lean into the embrace, as Obi-wan held him tight. There were no words to say, but none needed to be said. They stayed there for a long time in silence, mourning what had been lost.

Problems

Anakin knew something was wrong. Rex wouldn't talk to him. In fact, Rex hadn't spoken at all since the last mission except to give short orders to his men. Anakin searched the captain out.

"What's the matter, Rex?" He asked. The captain shook his head. Anakin sat down next to Rex.

"I know something's bothering you." He said. He didn't receive a reply.

Listening

"Master? Why do the clones paint their armor?" Ahsoka asked. "Why do some of them look different? Why do they all watch me? Why does Rex call me 'little one'? Why does…" Ahsoka paused. "Are you listening?"

"Yes, Snips." Anakin replied.

"But you didn't answer."

"That's 'cause I was listening." Anakin said with a grin.

"Oh…Why does the sky look blue in hyperspace even though it's not?"
