3rd Person POV
White Clouds
Day 11 of the Harpstring Moon
Since only exploring is available for Bambietta today, she'll have to do that. She first checks what events take place today.
There's lots of big fish and some Bonding Bites taking place in the fishing pond and dining hall respectively. "Big fish and Bonding Bites, huh? Well, all right then. Let's see what else there is to do."
She paused for a moment. 'A girl's voice... What could it mean?' She asked herself. She shook it off and went to her room's Bulletin board. She has quite a bit of things to do. She has to talk to Jeralt, a Head Chef, a Choir Coordinator, Seteth, and a girl wanting to feed the cats and dogs around the Monastery.
She goes to Jeralt who was talking to Leonie. "Professor! Hey, do you know how old Captain Jeralt is?" Leonie asked.
"That's enough, Leonie. If I don't know, how could my child know?" Jeralt raised his question.
"It's not normal to forget your own age, you know. It's kind of worrisome, actually." Leonie pointed out.
"By the time you're forgetting your own age, you're past the point of caring." Jeralt told.
"I guess if you put it that way, you've got a point..." Leonie grumbled.
"Well, if you're done, dad, anything you want me to do?" Bambietta demanded politely.
"Yes. I have a request. So. A real battle this month, huh? I hear even the Knights of Seiros are involved. I never taught you much about tactics, but there's a primer on it in my room. Give it a read." Jeralt requested.
"Got it." Bambietta nodded. On her way there, she encounters Claude who was talking to Dimitri.
"Those bandits really didn't think things through, did they? They had to have known the knights would be after them the moment they entered the monastery's turf. Fine by me, though. I'm raring for some real combat experience. Any chance to grow is a good thing." Claude declared.
"Yeah. I'm sure."
"Is there anything else you want to ask me, Teach? About living at the monastery or combat, anything like that?" Claude asked.
"Yeah. There are two more things I don't quite understand. What's this about... Faculty Training?"
"Students aren't the only ones who have something to learn from their professors. Professors can also learn from each other. If you want to, you should try trading knowledge with Professor Hanneman or Professor Manuela. Or even Alois. Perhaps with time, you could even learn a thing or two from us students." Claude offered.
"Okay. Now what about recruiting?"
"The house a student belongs to is determined by where they're from, but it is possible for someone to switch to a different one. Of course, that's only if the student very strongly wants to make the change and their professor is on board with it. If you do a lot of different activities around the monastery, you'll get closer to students and they may ask you about it." Claude answered.
"Okay. Thanks." She said. She goes to the training grounds and talks to Caspar.
"Hey there, Professor! You here to check in on my training? Oh, that reminds me. I found this cloth. It's kinda weird. Not really sure what it is, but it works great for wiping up sweat!" Caspar exclaimed happily.
"Uh... sure." Bambietta hesitantly nodded.
"You know, Professor, I keep hearing good things about you. I gotta admit, I'm curious. Wanna let me into your class?" Caspar asked.
"Really? Thanks, Caspar. I'd love to have you in the Golden Deer." Bambietta answered.
"All right! That was easy enough! Come on, we're gonna run this place!" Caspar declared, joining Bambietta's Golden Deer House.
Bambietta returned to her personal quarters and kept training her Lance skills and eventually got them to B rank. She learned the Combat Arts Tempest Lance and Knightkneeler as well as the Abilities Lance Prowess Lv 3 and Swordbreaker. Wiping the sweat off her brow, she sees that she's still got time for two activities.
Since what Jeralt needed her to do seemed quite important, she went to do that task first. She goes to the Captain's Quarters and finds a Tactics Primer, a book containing the basics of tactics. It doesn't look like it's been read much. She then brings it to Jeralt.
"Thanks for your help. I chose some knights to help you out. They'll be deployed in your next real battle. I'm sure you'll be able to make good use of them." Jeralt declared. Bambietta obtained a few battalions and went about her merry way to some other tasks. she went to the dining hall to talk to the Head Chef.
"I'm fresh out of recipe ideas. Say... Perhaps you could find some for me. Maybe a student or the library's cookbooks can spark some inspiration. Let me know, will you?" The head chef asked of Bambietta.
"All right. I'll do that." Bambietta declared. She goes to the library and collects a classic cookbook, a tantalizing cookbook, and an illustrated cookbook. Before heading to the head chef, she decides it would be a good idea to go to the Cathedral to reclaim her faith in god. On the way, she sees Ferdinand and talks to him.
"Do you know of the Aegir family? We have long held the position of prime minister in the Empire. The Empire's power lies with six noble families, my family foremost among them. The full explanation may be time-consuming. I can give you a moment to get ready, if you would like to take notes." Ferdinand suggested.
"Heh. I'm ready. Don't hold back." Bambietta smirked with a notepad. She writes down everything Ferdinand had to say.
"All right, I will list the six great noble families. There's Capsar's father, Count Bergliez, the Minister of Military Affairs. Then there's Linhardt's father, Count Hevring, the Minister of Domestic Affairs. Bernadetta's father, Count Varley, is the Minister of Religious Affairs. Hubert's father, Marquis Vestra, is the Minister of the Imperial Household. Finally, we have Duke Gerth, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and my own father, Duke Aegir, the Prime Minister. One day, I will take his place as the prime minister of the Empire. I am more talented than anyone in my class- even Edelgard. I will lead the Empire to a bright, enlightened future." Ferdinand declared.
...Almost everything. She skipped the part where Ferdinand was praising himself.
"Yeah, I look forward to that." Bambietta sighed, putting her note and pen away.
"There is nothing I cannot achieve. Oh! One more thing, Professor?" Ferdinand asked.
"What is it?" Bambietta asked back, a bit done by this point.
"Are you here to recruit me?"
Bambietta raised an eyebrow, suddenly interested.
"You have perceived my excellence. Good. But you are not the only person trying to recruit me. I would be happy to join your class, if you are offering." Ferdinand said. Bambietta put a hand on her chin.
"...You do seem to back up SOME of your praises about yourself... Fine. Okay." Bambietta replied.
"Hah, I thought you would say that. I look forward to learning under you. You will soon see how superior I am to Edelgard." Ferdinand boasted.
"Yeah, okay. I'm just gonna go now..." Bambietta sent off as she leaves for the cathedral while Ferdinand joins Bambietta's Golden Deer house. She talks to the Choir Coordinator.
"I've been thinking about starting a choir, and I need a volunteer who can help me get it off the ground. Can you help me find some students who love music?" The coordinator asked.
"Sure. Okay. I will." Bambietta answered. She finds Seteth in the cathedral and talks to him and Flayn.
"Inside the cathedral, there is a chapel dedicated to the Four Saints. Do you know of them? Saint Indech, Saint Macuil, Saint Cichol, and..."
"Saint Cethleann! Who is your favorite, Professor?" Flayn asked.
"Now that you are a member of the church, be sure to familiarize yourself with our teachings and traditions." Seteth told.
"Yeah. Okay. Do you have anything for me?"
"I do in fact have something to ask of you. The Western Church, which rules over the western parts of Fodlan, has lately made some strange troop movements. If you hear anything concerning, be sure to let me know." Seteth asked of.
Later, Bambietta went to the Dormitory and picked up a Choir Sign-Up Sheet. She'll have to look at it later as she'll need to report to the choir coordinator about it. She then goes to the Officers Academy and talks to a student.
"Brigid, Almyra, Duscur... Even people from far-off lands gather here at the academy. Word of advice, Professor. There are those who don't think kindly of such people." The student told Bambietta.
"I'll keep that in mind. thanks for telling me that." Bambietta replied as she gained a Dissident's Intel. She then goes to the Reception Hall in order to go straight into the Cathedral. She sees Sylvain on the way there. "...Could I be able to... Nah. That'd be too easy..." She denied as she walks to Sylvain and talks to him.
"Professor, you're the one taking out the bandits? Heh, that's one way to start your career at the academy. I didn't expect they'd order us to risk our lives here. Seems a bit extreme, doesn't it?" Sylvain asked.
"Yeah. Seems like it."
"Hey, Professor. Pretty great timing. I want to ask you something." Sylvain told.
"If it's about a date, you'll have to wait for-"
"I'd like to be in your class, if that's possible."
"...If it's about a date-"
"I've been thinking maybe I oughta get serious about studying."
"...If it'll get you to stop interrupting me, fine." Bambietta accepted.
"Wow, very decisive. I like it. I'll be there on time and in the front row and everything. You'll never have a better student." Sylvain winked.
"...Yeah. I won't count on it." Bambietta grumbled as she couldn't believe it truly WAS this easy.
Either way, she goes back to the Dining Hall and talks to Petra.
"Brigid has much more warmth than Fodlan. Even spring here has coolness! And you, Professor? Which do you find is worst? Too hot or too cold weather?" Petra asked Bambietta.
"I'd say... the cold." Bambietta answered.
"I have agreeance! In Brigid, I am able to be wearing much lighter clothes." Petra replied.
"Is there something else you want to say, Petra?" Bambietta raised a question.
"I am spending my days with devotion to my studies. There is something I think of when looking at you... I am feeling that the way you are teaching would give me great benefit. Is it possible to be switching to your class? I would like to be requesting that of you..." Petra said.
"Sure, Petra. I could teach you some English too, while we're at it." Bambietta declared.
"I have so much gratitude! I am still without... still not used to the speaking of your language. But I have full comprehension. Please, Professor... Teach me all of the things you know!" Petra exclaimed while joining Bambietta's Golden Deer.
'Man. Recruiting the Black Eagles isn't getting all that hard at all... Maybe I'll have them all except for Hubert and Edelgard at this rate.' Bambietta thought to herself. She talks to the Head Chef, unlocking the Cooking facility.
'If I'm gonna have myself a romping good time recruiting all these people, I'm going to need to build my relationship with them. Starting with cute little Bernie~' Bambietta thought. 'Let's see. I can either make King of Beasts Steak, Blessed Jelly, or Immortality Stew... Let's try... King of Beasts Steak.'
After that, she invited Bernadetta to cook. "Sounds fun! Let me show you my cooking talent." Bernadetta exclaimed. Fire was put on the pan as the steak starts to get cooked. "A little more sweet spice, and... Hey! No peeking!" She grumbled at Bambietta trying to peek.
"Sorry, Bernie~" Bambietta said, scratching the back of her head. She then goes for Today's Special.
"Today's Special is Fish and Bean Soup. A soup made by simmering white trout and chickpeas. A simple yet wholesome dish." The Dining Staff told. She invites Leonie and Sylvain.
After their bellies have been filled, the bell tolls, signaling Bambietta's end to free time.
Well, time to go report.
She goes to the Cathedral and reports to the Choir Coordinator and Seteth. She then goes and talks to a little girl. "What's going on here?"
"I need your help. I've been sharing my food with the hungry pups and kitties, but... there are a lot of them! Could you help me out?" The girl asked.
"All right. How about I strike a deal with you, kiddo? You take care of the dogs, and I'll take care of the cats. Sound fair?" Bambietta suggested.
The girl nods. "Okay, miss!"
Bambietta gives an Albinean Herring on the nearest cat she could find. The cat looks happy.
"Yay! Thanks!" The girl cheered and gives Bambietta a reward.
'Whew... All done for the day.'
Day 12 of the Harpsring Moon
Bambietta POV
"Okay, Class! Time for some... uh..." I hummed in confusion. OH GOD, WHAT DO I DO!?
"Don't tell me... No one bothered to show you the standard procedure for lectures? I guess it's up to me to save the day." Claude declared as he walks to me. "When you instruct your students, they gain skill experience. As their skill levels increase, they will gain access to new abilities and combat arts. The number of people you can instruct is indicated by how much time you take. When you set up a group-task, the students you assign will continue the task until you change it. After the first round of instruction each month, your students may come to you with a question. They will be motivated if they like your answer." Claude taught me.
"Okay, that's about instruction. What about Skill Goals?"
"Before starting a lecture, be sure to first check on our study goals. After all, students will want to prioritize studying things that relate to their goals. Students study on their own and earn skill experience according to their skill goals. Results are reported at the end of each week. You can alter the students' goals at any time you want."
"Sure, but... how do I instruct my students?"
"It's probably easier to get good results if you instruct students based on their interests and specialties. But that doesn't mean it's pointless to teach things that don't relate to someone's goals. Not by a long shot. By overcoming their weaknesses, some students may develop an interest in new fields. See that?" Claude asked, pointing to a three star mark. A three star mark next to a skill indicates that you will unlock a budding talent after a certain amount of instructing. The stars will become golden as you progress through their budding talent related skills. Once you unlock a budding talent, that person will go on to excel in that particular skill. They may even learn a new ability or combat art."
"So what's this about suggested goals?"
"A students study goals may need to be updated based on their learnings and experiences. It's an important part of being Teach to counsel students like that. As students improve from instructing and personal study, they may approach you with suggestions for new goals. Whether to accept their suggestions or not is completely up to you. Feel free to guide your students along paths of your own choosing."
"What's this about Motivation?"
"How well their tutoring goes will depend on a student's motivation. It's possible that interacting with students on a regular basis will raise their motivation. Maybe. Then again, what do I know? In any case, make sure to keep an eye on how motivated everyone is. You can instruct students with high motivation more frequently. One way to increase motivation is to interact with your students around the monastery."
"What are Group Tasks?"
"Students are encouraged to partake in various activities around the monastery. If you have students work together, it will give them a chance to interact, and maybe even help them achieve better results. You can assign one group task each week. Students who take part will earn skill experience based on your choice. You can also get gold and resources by completing these tasks. The result of a group task will depend on the students' strengths, weaknesses, and affinity for one another."
"Seteth told me about these... Certification exams, but I don't quite understand them."
"If you want to become a certain class, you have to pass the certification exam for it. That means training up on the required skills so you can pass. Don't slack when it comes to teaching your students what they need to know to pass their certification exams. When you pass a certification exam, you can change to a new class. Benefits of high-tier classes include increased abilities and growth rates."
"Okay. Thanks, Claude." I said. Seriously. Thanks.
With that said, Claude takes his seat. I instruct Lysithea first. "Hey, Lysie. How's the MVP of our mock battle doing?"
"I'm doing pretty fine, I suppose." Lysie told me. Let's see... She's got a D rank in Reason, an E+ on Faith an Authority, and E on everything else. There's a budding talent in swords, though. I suppose I can try my best to get her past that bad limit.
"All right, Lysie. Let's focus entirely on your sword training." I told her. Lysie simply nods. She did greatly on three occasions, and only okay on one. After that, her motivation was gone and I moved on to the next student of mine, Mari.
"Okay, Mari. Let's get to work." I said to her.
"Um... Professor? Why are you calling me Mari?" Mari asked me.
"Aw, it's because I give some people I really like nicknames~" I answered her while rubbing her head. "Okay, if we're finished...?" I continued. Mari nods. "Let's get to work on lances, then."
Mari did perfectly on one instance. "I can't believe it..." She gasped in disbelief.
"I knew you had it in ya somewhere, Mari~!" I praised.
"Oh! I'll try to get the next one too!" Mari exclaimed happily. After practicing her lance work four times, I allowed her to practice Reason. She's good at magic, after all. After that, she lost the motivation to keep getting instructed. All right. Next.
"How about... Hilda?" I called. She comes to me. She has a budding talent in heavy armor, huh? All right. "Let's work on Heavy Armor, Hilda." I told her.
"Okay. Let's do it!" Hilda exclaimed. Good attitude.
She managed to get her skill in heavy armor up a rank.
"Now about the Group Tasks... How about we start with Claude and Mari working on Sky Watch?" I asked. The two enthusiastically agreed.
And so, I began the lecture.
"Let me ask you something..." Sylvain came up to me with a question. "I've been trying to win the heart of this girl, but none of the fancy gifts or sweet things I tell her have worked. Do you know any secret dating tricks I can use to win her heart?"
...Now I don't know about what he'd want me to say. But if I was in that girl's position...
"...Try having a deeper conversation with her, I guess?" I answered.
"Yeah, OK, I see that." Sylvain nodded. Eh. He was already fully motivated.
"Professor. People are calling me a Thief, but I would never be doing bad things. It is because I am moving very quickly without my enemies noticing. This is why I must be learning the bow and sword." Petra came up to me.
"Sure, Petra." I told her. And so, Petra's goals were changed.
Day 17 of the Harpstring Moon
Mari and Claude report to me about their Sky Watch. They did perfectly. They became closer, I received a thousand G, and... five Smithing Stones. Hmm...
The students reported to me of their trainings. Ferdinand learned the ability Axe Prowess Lv 2, Caspar learned the ability Brawling Prowess Lv 2, and... that's it.
Day 18 of the Harpsring Moon
It's Raphael's birthday. Big guy's getting some flowers, that's for sure. He seemed to love them.
Looks like I'm only allowed to battle today. Okay. Time to get my students some stretching they deserve~!
Outside, Practice Battle
Claude was talking to me about Battalions. "Battalions are deployed in battle so students can learn how to take command. Oh, that concept may be new to a loner mercenary like you, eh, Teach? Want me to explain the basics?" He asked.
"I'd hardly call myself a loner, but sure." I shrugged. "How do I know which Battalion to assign to who?"
"When hiring a battalion, start by deciding who will lead them. Pay close attention to the battalion type. One may be made up of armed soldiers while another is all mages. As for who should lead which battalion... Well, be sure to think on that carefully." Claude taught me.
Great. Some things I already know... "What about these things called... Gambits and Rattling?"
"If you deploy a battalion, you can use their special gambit. If you successfully pull off a gambit, you may be able to affect the outcome of the battle, even if just a tiny bit. Units hit by gambits will be rattled. Rattled units cannot move, use gambits, or benefit from battalions, and suffer a 10% penalty to all their abilities."
"Lastly, what's a Gambit Boost?"
"If you join forces with a nearby ally, there's a good chance that the results will be even greater. When a gambit is used on an enemy within the attack range of one or more of your other units, it will become a Gambit Boost. The might and hit rate of the gambit will increase based on the number of units participating and their support levels."
"Looks like that's everything about battalions. All right. Let's do this."
Before I go, I'll have to give some people some weapons. It seems Claude can use swords pretty well. I'll give him a Training Sword.
I think I'll give Mari a Training Lance.
I'll buy Ignatz a Training Sword. Can't have him get TOO defenseless with a bow.
I'll buy Lysie a Training Sword of her own. Her Bow won't do much good against up close and personal combat.
Lorenz... He's good.
Hilda... I'll buy her a Training Lance. ...Anything else...? ...I guess a Training Sword and Bow. And since she's aiming to be a Fighter... I'll buy her a pair of Training Gauntlets too.
Raphael's got some skill wielding an axe, so I'll buy him a Training Axe.
Leonie's quite good at certain skills. Can't remember what. I'll buy her a Training Bow.
Ferdinand's good at melee combat. I'll buy him a Training Sword and Axe.
Caspar's good at axes and brawling. I'll buy him a pair of Training Gauntlets since he's got an Iron Axe.
Petra's good at swords, axes, and a little bit of bows. I'll give her a Training Axe and Bow since she's got an Iron Sword.
Last but not least, Sylvain. He's good at lances and axes, so I'll give him a Training Axe since he's got an Iron Lance.
Okay. I guess I'll buy another Beginning Seal for the convoy too. Something tells me I'll need it.
Well, guess that's it for me, then. Let's fight!
As a Monk, I'm able to use magic. So can all the Commoners and Nobles behind me and by my side. I order my students to advance as safely as they can except for Lysie and Lorenz. I advance as safely as I can myself.
One of the soldiers attack and miss Lorenz. Lorenz counters and hits the soldier that attacked him. Lysie was also attacked, but the soldier missed her. She counters, but she misses too. Damn. Must have used all her luck at the mock battle...
Leonie assists Lysie with her Training Bow and hits the Soldier with it.
Ferdinand attacks the Soldier and dodges his counterattack. He hits the soldier again.
Mari attacks the soldier attacking Lorenz and dodges the soldier's counterattack.
Raphael, with two punches, finishes off the soldier that attacked Lorenz.
Claude shoots at a soldier with his bow. He gets the same ability that I gained after mastering my beginner class.
Lorenz attacks another soldier but was hit by a counter.
Ignatz finished off the soldier with a Curve Shot. Not bad, you five.
Lysie attacks the soldier that attacked her with her Training Sword again and actually hits him this time. She dodges the counterattack.
Hilda attempts to finish off the soldier that attacked Lysie, but she missed. Not looking good for you, girl.
I step in front of one of the soldiers who look shocked at my seemingly harmful power. "Oh, don't mind me. Pool's open. Water's fine." I 'assured' them.
A soldier attacks and hits Lorenz who counters.
A soldier attacks me and misses. I counter him twice, defeating him. I grow in dexterity and luck. Crap. I'm not setting a very good example...
Another soldier tries the same thing, but to the same effect, I take him down.
The soldier that attacked Lysie actually hits her, but she counters and defeats him. She grew in dexterity and luck. ...What is with these crappy growth rates!?
One of the soldiers attacks Ferdinand, but he counters twice.
Another soldier advances.
Leonie finishes off the soldier that attacked Ferdinand.
Ignatz attacks the soldier that attacked Lorenz, Claude finishes the soldier off. He grows in strength and dexterity. OH COME ON!
Mari heals Lorenz. I heal Lysie.
The rest of my students advance as much as they can.
One of the soldiers attacks and hits Lysie who counters. Her skill in swords increases, giving her the ability Sword Prowess Lv 1. Three other soldiers advance.
Hilda attacks the soldier that attacked Lysie and hits him. Leonie follows up on that. Lysie finishes him off.
Ignatz advances into the bushes and equips his Training Sword.
Claude warms up one of the soldiers next to Ignatz.
Lorenz attacks that soldier, but misses. Ugh... Some people have ALL the luck, don't they!?
I advance.
A soldier attacks Raphael who gets hit but counters.
I thought for sure Ignatz was gonna hit him, but NO! He fucking missed after getting hit! What, was he poked in the eye or something!? Another soldier attacks him, but he ends up hitting him.
Another soldier attacks and hits Lorenz, but he counters and hits him.
Raphael attacks the soldier that attacked him twice. Mari finishes him off. She grows in speed and resistance. SERIOUSLY! IS THIS WORLD MAKING FUN OF ME OR SOMETHING!?
Either way, I reach Ignatz and heal him with Recover. I grew in maximum life energy and dexterity. ...I'm not even surprised anymore. WHY!?
Claude attacks one of the soldiers that attacked Ignatz and hits him. Ignatz finishes him off. He grew in strength, magic, dexterity, defense, and resistance. FINALLY... A decent growth... Fuuuuuuuuuck... That felt like it took FOREVER...
Ferdinand attacks one of the soldiers twice after avoiding an attack. Leonie follows up.
The leading soldier attacks and hits Raphael who counters then grows in maximum life energy and luck. ...And we're back to this. Motherfucker...
Another soldier attacks and hits Hilda. Another attacks and hits Ignatz who counters and hits him.
Another soldier attacks and hits Raphael who counters but misses.
Another soldier attacks and hits Lysie who counters and hits.
Hilda attacks and defeats the soldier that attacked Lysie.
Lysie finishes off another soldier and grows in speed and resistance. ...Why are we back to this?
Mari heals Raphael and masters her Noble class.
Claude further helps Ignatz out with his soldier problem. Ignatz, scoring a critical hit, resolves it. He then grew in strength, dexterity, and defense. Better...
Lorenz attacks and hits the leader of the soldiers. Raphael finishes him off and grows in maximum life energy and dexterity. AGAIN WITH THIS SHIT!? This is just the worst... At least Raphael got a Bullion...
Ferdinand deals massive damage to the last soldier with his Tempest Lance. He got hit by the counter. Leonie finishes off the soldier. Leonie grows in strength, dexterity, and speed. ...I guess that's better.
We received 2,800 G from that shitshow of growth. The MVP was Lysie. Yippee. Whoo-hoo.
Day 19 of the Harpstring Moon
I instruct the class again. This time, I call Leonie to me and have her work on Bows twice. She managed to get a perfect on one of them. She learned the combat art Curved Shot. "Not as hard as I thought." She boasted.
"You weren't bad at all there, Leonie." I praised, rubbing my finger against my nose.
"Nothing to get excited about." Leonie deflected, increasing her motivation. I noticed that she has an E+ in riding. Huh. she knows how to ride horses into battle, huh? Okay, then. Let's work on that, then.
After that, Leonie uses up all of her motivation.
I call Sylvain to me. It seemed as if he was serious about studying this time like he told me. Okay then. Let's see how serious he REALLY is.
I told him to work on Reason. He managed to get his rank up and gains Reason Lv 1.
I can instruct one more person. Okay. I suppose I'll get to work on Claude, then. It appears he has a budding talent on axes... Eh. No real point to it if he can only be instructed two or three times, so I went ahead and instructed him on swords. He got a perfect on one instance.
"That was easy, thanks to you." Claude told me.
"Really? I thought that was all you." I praised, surprising Claude.
"Heh. I could get used to this." He said.
With that, he consumes his motivation and I move on to begin the lecture.
Day 21 of the Harpstring Moon
Saint Macuil Day is today. There will be a hymn recital in the cathedral. I suppose I'll participate.
The two people I ended up bringing with me are Leonie and Sylvain.
"What's the point of singing practice? It's not going to make me stronger." Leonie told me.
"It might. You never know." I spoke.
"It's hard to sneak out when the professor is watching." Sylvain pointed out.
"That's right. I'll kick your ass if you try." I threatened.
Bonds among the three of us grew significantly stronger, we gained a significant amount of faith experience, and I gained a significant amount of authority experience.
Day 24 of the Harpstring Moon
Mari and Claude report their perfect success. I received more money and more smithing stones.
The students report their training results.
Claude learned the ability Bow Prowess Lv 2.
Lorenz learned the Magic Fire and the ability Lance Prowess Lv 2.
Raphael learned the combat art Smash.
Ignatz learned the combat art Wrath Strike and the ability Bow Prowess Lv 2.
Lysie learned the magic Swarm Z and the ability Reason Lv 2.
Mari learned the combat art Wrath Strike.
Hilda learned the combat art Tempest Lance.
Petra learned the combat art Curved Shot.
CHRIST, that was a lot...
With that done...
Day 25 of the Harpstring Moon
Let's see... I can either do a seminar or take a rest... Hm...
Well, first, let's see what Lysie can become... A Myrmidon or a Monk, huh? A 63% percent chance on becoming a Myrmidon... but she has a 100% chance of becoming a Monk.
I make her a Monk and she passes her certification exam.
I guess I'll do a Seminar. During one of the days, Seteth gave me a paper teaching me about how Seminars work.
Those I select to lead seminars will instruct others in their areas of expertise. Higher skilled instructors grant more skill experience to those who attend. People choose to attend a seminar based on how well the subject matches their skill goals. Those with high motivation are more likely to attend.
With that in mind... I think I'll attend Hanneman's seminar.
Once that's done, Leonie learned the ability Bow Prowess Lv 2 and the motivation of the attendees increased.
Day 26 of the Harpstring Moon
I'm curious about Leonie... Let's go for a visit. I find her at the training grounds.
"Phew... Oh, Professor! Are you training too?" She asked. "I was just about to finish up, but if you want to join in, I can stick around a while longer.
"You sure? I might be here a while." I warned her.
"Oh, no. It's fine! Just do your thing. Don't mind me. Come on. Don't be shy." Leonie urged.
Later...
"Phew! I'm beat...but we're finally done." Leonie sighed exhausted.
"You didn't have to stay for my whole routine." I pointed out.
"I was... already training when you got here, and I... finished right alongside you..." Leonie panted. "Guess I...outlasted you, huh?"
"It's not a competition." I told her.
"Speak for yourself! I'm always looking to improve. By the way, Professor. Something I wanted to ask." Leonie brought up.
"If you've got something, let's hear it, then."
"Are you really Captain Jeralt's kid?"
...Straight and to the point, huh?
"That's what I'm told." I answered.
"That's a pretty detached tone to take about your own family. What's your opinion of him, then? You must look up to him, at least?" She pressed.
...Leonie. Woman.
"I respect him, of course."
"Hm. It doesn't sound like you really appreciate him. You didn't even know until you came here that he used to lead the Knights of Seiros, did you? If it weren't for him, you wouldn't be half the person you are now. You've probably never even though about how lucky you are. Ugh! OK, this really bothers me! Listen up. I don't care if you're the teacher and I'm the student. I'm going to outshine you. I know you were some famous mercenary before you came here, but let me tell something... I'm going to be better than you ever were! In fact, I'll surpass you in no time at all, so don't blink. You might miss it." Leonie boasted as she leaves.
...Oh, you'd have no way to do that.
Either way, somehow, I felt a lot closer to her than before. I also felt like she became a lot more motivated.
Day 27 of the Harpstring Moon
Its Mercedes's birthday. I give her some flowers.
Day 30 of the Harpstring Moon
Entrance Hall
I went to the Entrance Hall and see my entire Golden Deer students. "Hey, Teach. Glad you could make it. We've been waiting for you." Claude said.
"It seems the knights have our foes cornered. They are in Zanado-the Red Canyon." Lorenz told me.
"It's bandit time! That sounds like real knight work. Let's get to it!" Raphael exclaimed excitedly.
"I'm itching to put my skills to the test as well. We have to win so Captain Jeralt can see how much I've learned!" Leonie declared.
"I thought Jeralt wasn't coming with us. Either way, I'll give it everything I've got." Ignatz pointed out.
"Um... Even if I go, it's not like I'd be of any use..." Mari mumbled.
"That's enough of that. If we don't work together and give it our all, we are doomed to fail." Lysie scolded Mari.
"You can be pretty intense sometimes, Lysithea. But I agree! Let's do our best!" Hilda urged.
"Man. Everyone is so eager..." I gasped in wonder.
"If we fight half as well as we chatter, we'll be fine. C'mon, Teach. Lead the way." Claude asked of me. I nod.
Day 31 of the Harpstring Moon
All right. Mission time.
