Special brownie
A guest asked for a oneshot of Emma being out of it and wanting her mom to rock her to sleep and hold her like she does with baby Neal. When Snow tries to put her down, she whimpers in her sleep and doesn't want Snow to let her go.
Based loosely on an experience of one of my best friends lol.
Lesson learned. Never take up the offer of a brownie from a stranger. Snow and Emma had been at the park when they saw a group of guys. They were all complaining about being hungry. Assuming someone had forgotten the lunch they were meant to bring for the group, Snow and Emma took pity on them and went into a nearby store and got them each a sandwich. The guys were so grateful and offered them each a rather large brownie. Snow politely declined, saying she didn't have much of a sweet tooth. Emma, on the other hand, happily took them up on their offer. It was only as her mom was driving them both home that Emma began to realise that something wasn't right.
"Everything looks so funny, mom." Emma commented, looking around her as they drove. "Like, all wavy."
"Sweetheart, you feeling alright?" Snow asked her. Emma nodded.
"Yeah, I'm fine…just feel all wavy myself…oh shit." Somewhere in her fuzzy mind, Emma remembered feeling like this once before. "I'm stoned."
"You're what?!" Snow asked her.
"The brownie. It must have been a pot brownie." Emma explained. She started to giggle hysterically. Snow sighed. Well this evening got a whole lot more interesting.
Emma's legs were like jelly, so Snow had to help her into the house. She got her onto the couch, only for Emma to cling onto one of her arms with both of hers.
"Don't go." Emma whined. "Stay."
"Emma, you're fine." Snow said, vaguely amused. "I need to give your dad a better explanation as to why you're acting a little odd and check on Neal."
"Neal gets all the best bits." Emma pouted. Snow was confused.
"What do you mean?" She asked her daughter.
"You cuddle him all the time. He gets rocked to sleep. Nobody ever offered to do that for me." Emma complained. Snow sighed. It was all coming out now. How long had Emma resented her baby brother for getting more physical affection and reassurance than her? Snow shifted Emma's position on the couch so Emma's head was against her chest. Snow wrapped her arms around Emma's shoulders and began to rock her slightly, like she did whenever she hugged her.
"It doesn't have to just be Neal, you silly thing." Snow said quietly. "Now, come on, get some rest." Emma tried to fight it, she was enjoying being held. But ultimately, she couldn't fight it for very long. She fell asleep, still nestled in her mother's arms. Snow smiled down at her, her heart bursting at the sight. Snow then tried to move Emma back over so she could go and explain to Charming. Emma's face scrunched up. She whimpered. Snow chuckled lightly.
"Alright, point taken." Snow whispered, resting back on the couch with Emma. "I'm here, baby girl. I'm here." Snow promised her. And nobody could make Snow leave when Emma needed her ever again.
