Happy meal

Sunshinegirl asked for a oneshot of Snowing and Emma going to McDonalds and Emma- blushing- ordering a Happy Meal because she never got to have one as a kid.

"How did McDonald's even find out about Storybrooke?" Charming asked in dismay.

"It's McDonald's, they know all." Emma responded, staring in delight at the finally completed golden arch. Construction of a McDonald's had begun in Storybrooke a few months ago. Now, here one was. Ronald McDonald was greeting kids at the entrance with balloons. Emma wasn't exactly a fan of clowns, so she and her parents were going via the drive-thru. Emma hadn't gotten her lips around a delicious mouthful of pure saturated fat since the missing year when she and Henry were in New York. Snow and Charming were intrigued, having never had one at all. Charming joined the back of the queue.

"Alright, what's everyone having?" He asked.

"Hmm…I think I'll just have a fillet-o-fish and a small fries." Snow said. Emma smiled. Of course her mom would make a vague attempt at finding the least artery clogging item on the menu.

"Well, I'll be having a Big Mac. Might as well go big or go home." Charming commented. He looked in his rear view mirror. "What you having, Em?" He asked. Emma was biting her lip. She seemed too nervous to say.

"What Em, whatever you want, we got it covered?" Snow said, turning round in her seat.

"Well, uh, I was thinking I might order a chicken nugget Happy Meal." Emma said quietly. Charming chuckled.

"Emma Swan ordering one of the smallest portions in a fast food place? What's the catch?" He teased her. Emma smiled, but blush was creeping up her cheeks.

"You feeling alright, honey? Are you feeling sick, is that why you just want a Happy Meal? Because we can always wait until you're feeling better." Snow told her. Emma shook her head.

"No, I'm fine. It's just…I never got a chance to have a McDonald's until I was an adult and could buy one for myself." She began to explain. "They do toys in the Happy Meal boxes, and some of the ones when I was a kid were really cool. I got kinda jealous, and always wanted parents who would buy me a Happy Meal. Sure, I can't really play with the toy now, but I thought I may as well live out that old dream." Emma told them. Snow and Charming smiled warmly at her. They would be honoured to fulfil that role and buy Emma her first Happy Meal.

Charming rolled up to the speaker.

"One fillet-o-fish with small fries. One large Big Mac meal and one chicken nugget Happy Meal." Charming said, giving Emma a small wink in the mirror. Emma smiled back at him.

As Emma was handed her food, she took the little toy out and smiled at it. She placed it, still in the plastic bag, in her pocket and took out a fry. She smiled as she ate it. Never had McDonald's tasted so good.
