Author's Notes

You guys know I posted a poll, right? Why am I the only one who voted? Ugh. Whatever. Bambietta, LIKE I WANTED, will meet Abyss, but I will be skipping the Ashen Wolves story entirely. Sorry. It's been a while since I touched this story, so...

Bleach is owned by Tite Kubo

Fire Emblem is owned by Nintendo

Me? I only own the story you're reading right now.

3rd Person POV

White Clouds

Day 31 of the Verdant Rain Moon

Bambietta walks through the hall. "That man... His form was changed. It was as though that lance was swallowing him whole. Upon that sight, it makes sense that your students were upset." Sothis pointed out. "I wonder if those Relics truly hide such power? Yet even still, that power seems familiar. That form as well... As one who wields the Sword of the Creator... Does that mean you possess that power too?" She asked.

"I don't know. Not standing here to find out, though." Bambietta answered Sothis before she goes to Rhea.

"Professor, you have returned. The goddess is indeed generous with her divine protection. I have already heard Gilbert's report about what happened. See to it that you keep what transpired at the tower to yourself." Rhea asked of Bambietta. "People would lose faith in the nobles should rumors spread of one using a Relic and transforming into a monster. All regions of Fodlan would fall into chaos. We must avoid that at all costs. Please ensure the students who accompanied you understand that as well. Have I made myself clear?"

"Yes, of course." Bambietta nodded.

"His transformation into a Black Beast was nothing short of divine punishment from the goddess. Punishment for someone arrogant and foolish enough to use a Hero's Relic even though they were unworthy and unqualified." Rhea grumbled.

"That begs the question. Will I share the same fate?" Bambietta asked.

"If someone without a Crest were to wield the Relic you possess, they would likely meet the same fate as Miklan. You, however, have been chosen. You are worthy of wielding the Sword of the Creator, so there is no need to worry. The church will formally return the lance to House Gautier. If you would..." Rhea answered and asked of.

"Sure. Here you go." Bambietta replied as she gives the lance to Rhea.

"You have my gratitude. I can see that I was right to trust you with this. Please report back. I will tell you of your new mission for the coming moon at that time." Rhea said.

Later, Library...

"Nice work, Teach. It's thanks to you that we successfully completed our mission. As for Miklan... I wonder if he really believed he could wield a Relic." Claude thought out loud.

"Eh. Hard to say." Bambietta shrugged.

"I bet he just wanted to get his hands on it, even though he knew he couldn't use it. Though I'm sure he wasn't counting on turning into a monster like that... I wonder if that monster represents another aspect of the Heroes' Relics. What a strange and terrifying power." Claude pointed out.

"I don't know. It probably seems so." Bambietta replied.

"Stories of misfortune have followed the Heroes' Relics since ancient times." Tomas told as he appeared.

"Tomas! You've caught me by surprise. That's not easy to do. Though I suppose I should've expected to see our librarian in his library." Claude declared.

"I am sorry to intrude. I simply heard you speaking of the Heroes' Relics. I can tell you more about them, if you'd like. The story goes that Nemesis was corrupted by evil because of the Sword of the Creator. Other Heroes also lost themselves by continuing to use the Relics...transforming into Black Beasts with twisted souls. There used to be a great many records regarding the dark history of the Relics." Tomas explained.

"Used to be?" Claude repeated.

"They have been destroyed, across all of Fodlan. Stripped from their shelves, including those that resided at this very library."

"You make it sound like the church is covering up the truth. But now that you mention it, Rhea was very specific about not wanting anyone to find out what happened at Conand Tower. Hey, Tomas... Why are you telling us all this?"

"It seemed like you were searching for answers about the Relics. What is a librarian if not a guide in the search for knowledge. And not only have you been searching, but you have been doing so through the night. I would suggest you stop before the knights notice. And that is enough meddling for today. Please excuse me." Tomas said before he leaves.

"So I've been found out, have I? I suppose I do spend more time at the library than most students. But I won't stop. I can't afford to." Claude denied.

"What the hell are you after?" Bambietta asked.

"Teach... You don't really expect me to tell you something so personal just like that, do you? Though I wouldn't mind sharing if you were to tell me some of your secrets in exchange..." Claude told.

"I can't let this exchange pass without comment. If you're sharing secrets, perhaps I can share one as well?" Edelgard raised her question as she appeared.

"Are you sure you could survive that? I'd say you're the least likely to share secrets out of everyone at the academy." Claude asked back.

"Heh heh, coming from you, I'll take that as a compliment. After all, you're easily the student with the most secrets."

"I'm afraid you overestimate me. My secrets don't amount to much. But back to Teach..."

"Don't try to change the subject, Claude. We're talking about secrets. Yours. Who is your father? And why did you appear so suddenly, as if from nowhere? Duke Riegan's eldest son died in an accident. Having tragically lost other family members as well, he was without an heir. The Alliance would undoubtedly have been shaken if House Riegan had lost its position of leadership. But then you showed up. Why did you return to House Riegan? What brought you to the monastery?"

"Hey. He doesn't have to answer to you, you know." Bambietta told off Edelgard.

"Alas... To be surrounded by women as lovely as flowers, only to be pricked by their thorns. My dream, in truth, is a selfless dream. But I require power to make it a reality. When I learned the power of my Crest, I knew I had a chance. So I'm chasing that dream. To the bitter end, if need be. I came to this monastery because I thought I might find someone useful. Someone to help me on my path. So, what do you think? If you promise to help me achieve my dream no matter what, I'll promise to tell you anything." Claude offered.

"I have my own dream to tend to. I pray that yours does not interfere with mine." Edelgard shook her head.

"What about you, Teach?" Claude asked.

"Me? Well, I guess. If it's a noble dream..." Bambietta answered.

"I see. Well, now isn't the time to discuss this. You are still my Teach, after all." Claude declared.

Later, Audience Chamber...

Bambietta is talking to Rhea again. "Professor, you have done well to complete such a difficult task. You have shown exceptional skill in leading your students. I am forever grateful for the safe return of the Hero's Relic. Just as I expected, you have mastered the Sword of the Creator. Now then, I shall tell you about your mission for the coming month..." Rhea declared.

"Rhe- Archbishop!" Seteth called as he appeared.

"Seteth, what troubles you?" Rhea asked.

"Flayn is missing! I cannot find her anywhere! Professor, have you seen Flayn recently?" Seteth said.

"I haven't. Have you looked, well, I dunno, everywhere?" Bambietta asked back.

"I have searched every corner I can think of! I could not find her anywhere. She may be in danger! Oh no... No, no! What am I to do!?" Seteth exclaimed.

"Calm yourself, Seteth. Professor, we shall continue our discussion another time." Rhea told.

Day 1 of the Horsebow Moon

Bambietta POV

Seteth's sister is missing... Hmm... Where could she be? Well, I received 5000 G for the month, so...

Day 2

I was curious to know how Sylvain was doing, so I went to him and increased our support level. His motivation was also increased.

Day 6

Audience Chamber

"As I believe you are already aware, Seteth's younger sister, Flayn, has gone missing." Rhea told me. "At present, all we know for certain is that she has not left Garreg Mach."

"Flayn is not the type of person to just wander off on her own without telling me where she is going! We have searched the monastery thoroughly, but have found nothing. I am now mobilizing the knights to begin searching the town. Troubling rumors have been running rampant lately. I do not wish to consider the worst, but..."

"Wait. Troubling rumors?" I asked Seteth.

"There are rumors of someone prowling the streets and attacking innocents, night after night. The knights have investigated the matter. They have not discovered any remains, nor have they found any concrete evidence." Rhea answered.

"The people are panicked! They all insist someone called the Death Knight is coming to claim their souls with his blade." Seteth said. "There is no way she could have escaped unscathed if she were captured by such a fiend! Where is she!?"

"Seteth, recall that impatience begets error. Please do your best to calm yourself." Rhea ordered Seteth. "I think of your... sister as family as well. You know that. You have my support. We will devote ourselves fully-mind, body, and soul-to recovering her. Professor. Your mission for this month is to help find Flayn. The knights have the town covered, so I ask that you focus your efforts on searching the monastery again. We do not have time to waste. You have your orders." She declared.

Golden Deer Classroom

I explain the situation to the Golden Deer. "What? Flayn is missing!?" Hilda gasped.

"So, finding Flayn is our mission for the month, I take it?" Claude asked.

"Wait. Who's Flayn?" Raphael brought up.

"Seteth's little sister. Surely you've seen her flitting about the monastery." Leonie answered Raphael, thank god.

"She is the girl who looks about the same age as me, but seems well beyond her years." Lysithea explained further.

"Seteth is much older than Flayn. He's always looking out for her. He must be worried sick." Hilda pointed out. "If I were to go missing, I can't imagine what that would do to my brother."

"When searching for something, it's best to start by gathering information. Hopefully someone has seen Flayn." Claude declared.

Day 7

It's Petra's birthday. Hmm... I think I'll host a tea party this time.

We had a nice teatime.

I can only explore today... So! Let's see what we can do about certifications...

Linhardt can be promoted to Mage, Dark Mage, or Priest. I roll a six-sided die and it comes up... 1. Mage it is. He passes.

I buy two more Intermediate Seals for Petra and Ingrid. I replenish everyone's battalions and now I have 27,818 G left.

Petra's turn. She can be a Thief or Archer. I flip a coin. Heads for Thief and Tails for Archer. And it comes up... Tails. Archer it is.

Next up, Ingrid. She can be a Thief, a Cavalier, or a Pegasus Knight. Roll the dice and it comes up... a 5. Pegasus Knight it is.

I then bought some weapons and... I think I'm good to go. I talk to Sothis first.

"Oh my... Just one small girl who's gone astray has caused all this. We cannot let this stand. You must do all you can to find out where she's gone." Sothis declared. "Now ask around to see what information you can find. Come now! No time to waste!"

I first go to Claude and Hilda. "No sign of her leaving the monastery, eh? That is, assuming we can actually trust that information..." Claude said.

"Oh, but I'm sure this space has no shortage of secret passages and hiding spots!" Hilda pointed out.

"True. For now, there's not much we can do aside from making a thorough search of the monastery."

"Let's ask around and see what we turn up. You never know who might have seen something."

"I wish we could do more for Flayn, but since we've got no leads, our only option is to search the monastery with a fine-tooth comb. Someone must know something." Claude told.

I had Caspar participate in the Intermediate Axe Tournament. He lost at the Finals. I must have either used the wrong person, didn't get him motivated enough, or might have restored his health too early... Dammit...

I see a shifty merchant. I talk to him and he tells me all about Abyss and the Ashen Wolves. Interesting. I decided to go there. I first see a blonde young lady in a dress. "And who might you be? Not an Abyssian, that much is clear at a glance. A visitor from above, perhaps? With what purpose? Oh...but of course. You must be the new teacher specially appointed by Lady Rhea. That is it, yes? Rumors have been flying underground about you. Well, then! I am Constance von Nuvelle. It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance. Ahaha!" The lady laughed.

"Name's Bambietta. You can call me Bambi. Say, you wanna join my Golden Deer House?" I asked.

"Oh? Have you come to beg my assistance? Then rejoice, for you have the aid of a Nuvelle! You did come seeking my aid, yes? Hopefully with something befitting my station." Constance replied.

"Yeah, sure. Of course."

...What could she want, though?

"An assignment for the Officers Academy? How splendid! I was a former attendee there myself, you know. I shall be a model of grace in my duties." Constance declared.

I ask her if she needs help with something.

"You have heard tell of the secret roster, yes? It contains sensitive information about everyone that isn't available elsewhere. Alas, this precious document was stolen! You must recover it as soon as possible!" Constance demanded.

"A secret roster, huh? All right. I'll bite." I said.

I move on to a young lady with red hair.

"Who are you? Wait, shut up, let me guess. You're... that new professor, right? You just started teaching up on the surface. Even here, people have been talking about you. Not that the gossip got everything right. I heard you were beautiful, but obviously that was an exaggeration." The lady said.

"Well, hi to you too. Do you even wanna join my House?" I asked her.

"What? You wanna know if I can help out? I've got time, but I don't want to spend it all serving the church. Don't make that face. Fine, fine. I'll back you up." She told me.

"Well, great. I'd love your help. What's your name?"

"Hapi. You know, I've never really had a teacher before. And it'll be my first time at the Officers Academy. Sounds like fun."

Okay, then. I move on to a big guy.

"Haven't seen your face before. You're clearly not from around here. Ah, you're that new teacher everyone's been yapping about. And yet... you look younger than me. Weird. The name's Balthus. Formerly of the Alliance." He introduced himself.

"Bambietta. Call me Bambi. Wanna join my House?"

"You want my help, yeah? Can't blame ya. Look, I get it. You're the new professor. You've got a lot on your plate. You need backup? I'm your guy. Fine, you've talked me into it! But I'm gonna need you to sweeten the deal, if you catch my drift..." Balthus told me.

"Look, I'll... try and spar with you every once in a while or give you someone to beat down, or SOMETHING." I replied.

"Beautiful! I'll need to attend your classes whenever the mood strikes. I get bored from time to time, all cooped up." Balthus declared.

Jeez... Seriously? Eh. That's fine, I guess. Anyway, I then go to a purple haired guy.

"Whoever you are, it doesn't matter much to me. But I do advise getting out of here before you get tangled up in trouble. Unless you've been sent here under someone's orders. In which case, I'll happily show you a good time. Heh heh... Hmmm. You're that mercenary turned professor, aren't you? The one who showed up at the monastery kinda recently. Yeah, you're the one I've heard so much about. Well, I guess it's fine you're here, then. You can call me Yuri. You'll want to remember that, if you ever come down here again." The man declared.

"Touchy... Wanna join my House?"

"Want my help, hmm? Sure, sure, why not. But I don't do anything for free. In exchange, let me attend the lectures you give those noble kids, yeah?" Yuri asked.

"Yeah. Of course."

"It's a deal. Come on by whenever you need me. If you're wondering why I won't come up to you, it's because I've got people to watch over in Abyss." Yuri said. I ask him if he needs help. "A professor who was dismissed from his position at the Officers Academy has made his home here. He could be a kind of mentor to you. Talk to him-maybe you can learn a thing or two!"

I accept and complete the quest then head back to the monastery.

I cook Duscur Bear with Yuri, increasing everyone's maximum life energy for the month.

I ordered Today's Special, Derdriu-Style Fried Pheasant, and eat it with Lysithea and Catherine.

I go and talk to Bernie. "Uh, Flayn's not in here! Ugh, I guess I have to let you in to prove it, don't I?" She asked as she gets out of her dorms, letting me investigate. She was telling the truth. "There. See? No one's in Bernie's room but Bernie. Maybe Flayn just wanted to be alone for a while. Have you considered that? Come to think of it, where is her room, anyway?" She wondered. I was about to leave and Bernie notices this. "Oh! Um... Professor... My class is, um... Would you, um-"

"Come on. Spit it out." I ordered.

"Can I join your class!?" She exclaimed.

"...Of course you can~!" I exclaim back.

"Yes! Thank you so much! This'll be so much better! I don't know why, but I'm just so much more comfortable when you're around." Bernie told. I gave her a pat on the head and a hug before I go on my merry way. I talk to Shamir.

"What brings you here? I'm taking a break." Shamir told me.

"I was wondering if you could help me out." I replied.

"Working hard, aren't you? I'll admit, I'm impressed. I can assist with any tasks, or help with your students." Shamir declared.

"Thanks, Shamir. I'll be counting on you."

"On it. I'm available anytime I'm not on a mission with the knights." Shamir said, going to work with me. I then go talk to Cyril.

"I can't believe Flayn just disappeared. I don't like it one little bit. Oh, are you here to see someone? Alois and Shamir and all the knights are gonna head into town soon." Cyril told me.

"Nah. Not really. So, what have you learned?" I asked him.

"I learned all sorts of things, so I can do as much as possible for Lady Rhea. Cleaning, chopping wood, making feed... Oh, and I'm learning the bow and arrow from Shamir! I'm happy to help you out with anything you need done for you class." Cyril answered.

"Thanks. I'll need your help." I told him.

"You betcha. I'm your guy, Professor. Since, you know, you can't exactly add me to your class or anything." Cyril pointed out. Eh. It's no big deal.

I go to Choir Practice with Lorenz and Hilda.

I went all over the monastery for information then talk to Claude again. "Jeritza is suspicious, to say the least. I think you should ask him directly. He should be at the training grounds or in his quarters." He told me.

I go talk to Ashe. "I heard something like this happened last year too. Neither the culprit nor the missing student were ever found last time. Some people say it was the work of evil spirits." Ashe said.

"Huh. Could it be the same culprit?" I asked him.

"I thought the same. Could there be a connection?" Ashe asked back. I was about to leave, but... "Professor! I have a request for you." He said, interrupting my walk away. "Would you accept me into your class? I'm sure I would learn so much more if I could study with you! Will you give me that chance?"

"Of course, Ashe~!" I answered.

"I can!? Thank you! You won't regret this. I'm going to give it my all!" Ashe exclaimed happily.

For the last event of the day, I went Faculty Training with my dad.

Next: Ingrid. Thief or Cavalier. I toss a coin. It came up Heads again. Thief it is.

I hire the Knights of Seiros Battalion for Yuri and the Alliance Magic Users for Constance.

I go and try to retrieve the secret roster. Could be useful.

I bring Lysie, Lorenz, Ignatz, Bernie, Ashe, Yuri, Balthus, Constance, and Hapi with me. Mari is my Adjutant.

I buy Bernie, Ashe, Yuri, Balthus, Constance, and Hapi some weapons.

And with that, the battle begins.

Bernie, using her Training Bow to strike twice, hits one of the enemy Fighters.

Yuri scores a critical hit, defeating another Fighter.

The students agree that I did the most in that fight.

Day 15 of the Horsebow Moon

I instruct Claude, Yuri, Balthus, Hapi, and Cyril. I then begin my lecture. Balthus then comes up with a question. "A friend of mine's deep in debt, but every time he gets his hands on some money, he ends up giving it to someone he thinks needs it more. Is he going about it all wrong?" Balthus asked.

"Uh... No." I answered.

"Figured as much." Balthus nodded.

Mari comes up to me for a suggestion. "Since I spend most of my time looking after horses and praying to the goddess, I think it makes sense for me to be a Holy Knight. With that in mind... would you help me refine my faith and riding skills?"

Well, she DID get Thief Certification... "Okay."

It's Catherine's birthday. I host a tea party.

We had a nice teatime.

Anna notified me of her quest's completion. So did Constance for her quest's. Now that I have the secret roster, hints will be displayed for lost items. I can check the roster while speaking to the students or Professors. I can also use my intuition once during a tea party when I've chosen the wrong words.

Looks like I can qualify for Special exams. I'll need Abyssian Exam Passes which can only be acquired from within Abyss... I can also apply for Advanced Classes. I can only pass for certain in the advanced Classes, so... Let's see. Assassin and Paladin, huh? Okay. Heads or Tails... Heads. Assassin it is!

All right. Time for another battle! This time, we're Clearing the Way!

I defeat the last Fighter.

The MVP was me again. Jeez. I'm getting lots of praise this month...

Day 22

I instructed Linhardt, Caspar, Bernie, Ashe, and Balthus then began my lecture.

Constance comes up to me with a suggestion for her goals. "What better way to complement my magical abilities than flying over the battlefield? Picture yours truly, raining spells onto our foes from above! By studying reason and flying at the same time, I can make this vision manifest."

Well, she's already good on authority, so, how can I say no to that?

Caspar wanted to talk to me. Now was a good time, so I went ahead and increased our social standing with each other, maxing out his motivation.
