Hey, everybody. It's getting close to that time of year again... Valentine's Day! And you know how much I love Love! So, I decided to write another little something for the occasion. And as you could guess, It's about my OTP, Ronniecoln again.
I believe I already did a little fluff one-shot for these two a few years back, but this one is hopefully sprinkled with a little more comedic flavor.
Also, the characters are indeed aged up in this fic, so if you want a bit of a visual aid to reference the character's appearances, I recommend Sonson-Sensei's drawings on deviantart. Especially the drawing titled "Hammock" which is what the design I tried describing Ronnie Anne's appearance in this story is based off of. Sonson, if you are reading this, you are an awesome artist.
Now enough stalling, on with the story.
Lincoln Loud looked up at the clock in his room. Letting out a small sigh as he saw what time it was. "4 o'clock. Well, I bet she's waiting for me already." He reasoned as he sat on his bed and pulled out his laptop. Opening it up, he moved his mouse down to the bottom of the screen and highlighted the video chat app. He was about to click on it, but then his bedroom door flung open without warning. He looked over to the doorway and saw a young girl with short platinum blonde hair. She wore a lavander dress shirt, black skirt, knee high socks, and black Mary Jane shoes. Her face did not convey a positive attitude at all.
"Lincoln! Can you help me get Lisa to take apart her newest 'invention'? She's using my phone as a part of it." She groaned. Lincoln looked down at the girl and sighed.
"Lily, now isn't the best time. You know that Ronnie Anne and I have our video chats around this time. Can't this wait for just a few minutes?" Lincoln pleaded to his youngest sister. Lily crossed her arms and let out a huff.
"Fine, whatever you want, Bobby 2. I'll go ask Dad for help." As Lily pouted and began walking away, Lincoln raised an eyebrow.
"Bobby 2?" Lincoln asked as he booted up the video chat with his girlfriend. Lily turned back towards her brother and rolled her eyes.
"Remember how you told me about how when I was a baby and Lori and Bobby were teenagers, they acted all mushy and lovey-dovey around each other? That's how you and Ronnie Anne act with each other now." Lily explained. Lincoln let out a small, dismissive raspberry upon hearing the little girl's explanation and then chuckled. "Oh, sure. Deny it now, but history is just repeating itself with you two." Lily insisted. As Lincoln clicked on Ronnie Anne's name on the call list, he chuckled and turned to his little sister.
"Lily, when Ronnie Anne and I became official, we made a promise to each other. We vowed to never become that sappy, under any circumstances." Lincoln's rebuttal was then met with the laptop establishing the link for the call. Signaling the development with a small chime. The screen then showed a Hispanic teenager girl with long black hair tied up into a ponytail. An unzipped purple hoodie was worn over a white tank-top. She gave a small wave to the camera with a smile on her face.
"Hola, mi amore." She greeted in a sweet tone. Lincoln responded by turning to the screen and waving to it as well.
"Hey, Ronnie." He cooed. Lily closed her eyes and shook her head before walking away.
"Well, have fun with Lori." The child departed, leaving her brother and his girlfriend alone. As Lincoln closed the door, Ronnie Anne suddenly became a little puzzled with what Lily said before leaving. Lincoln approached the computer again and saw her perplexed look. He cleared his throat and got her attention.
"Are you alright?"
"Do you know why she just called me Lori?" Ronnie Anne asked. Lincoln snickered a little bit before answering.
"Oh, that? Lily was just saying that we turned into Bobby and Lori back when they were teenagers." He explained. Ronnie Anne's eyes widened in disbelief.
"What, that's ridiculous. We're nothing like how they were!"
"I know, right? They were the definition of sappy. All those cheesy nicknames and everything. Were straight out of the movies they always watched." Ronnie Anne laughed at her boyfriend's remark.
"Yeah. We don't spend movie dates with a silly romantic comedy. We watch action movies and zombie flicks. You know, where the girls actually do something instead of picking petals off flowers" Lincoln folded his arms and nodded in agreement.
"Amen to that, sweetie. But none of those girls are as amazing as you are." The white haired boy's comment managed to earn a small laugh from Ronnie Anne.
"Oh stop it, Linky!"
"BWARK! Get a room, you two!" A new voice cried out mockingly. Both teens stopped talking when they heard the intrusive taunt. Ronnie Anne then narrowed her eyes and opened her bedroom door. When she did, an orange, red, and blue feathered parrot flew into view of the camera. "Hey there, Prince Charming. Still skipping on the hair dye?" The bird taunted. Ronnie Anne tried to grab them with both arms, only to miss as they flew around her room.
"Dang it, Sergio! Get out of my room!" She shouted in anger. Lincoln adopted a look of disappointment as his girlfriend tried to catch Sergio.
"Ugh, how is he still alive?" Lincoln groaned.
"I don't know. But age hasn't exactly made him nicer to people." Ronnie Anne added as she made another jump to try and catch the pet bird. She failed and proceeded to face plant onto the ground. Ronnie Anne practically growled as she got back up. "You know what, Linc? Hold on a second." The Latina girl then went over to her window and locked it. This caught the attention of both Sergio and Lincoln as Ronnie Anne then grabbed her laptop, the built in web cam shifting as the whole computer was moved. While going through the slight change in scenery, Lincoln heard a distinct 'click' in the background before the camera finally came to a stop. Showing Ronnie Anne smirking in front of her closed bedroom door. A loud knocking was heard from the other side as they both snickered.
"Hey, let me out of here!" Sergio shouted in frustration.
"Too bad he doesn't have thumbs." Lincoln laughed.
"I'll have to open it from the outside with power tools again, but it's worth it." Ronnie Anne sighed as she carried the lap top into the living room of her family's apartment. She then took a seat on the couch and placed the computer in her lap, cradling it between her abdomen and legs "Anyways, sorry about that. Living with him never gets easier."
"It's alright." Lincoln reassured. "I'd honestly consider living with him rather than with all of Lana's pets. She got another new snake last week." Lincoln recalled while he rolled his eyes. He then paused before looking around the room, and then peaking his head out the bedroom door. When he felt the coast was clear, he turned back to the laptop. "I swear that Boa Constrictor has it out for me. I have to keep checking my bed at night to make sure it doesn't sneak into my room." He confessed before shuddering. "I can still hear it hissing. Waiting for another chance to strangle me." Lincoln shuddered before he was silenced by a faint hissing sound. The white haired teen instantly leaped onto his bed and his eyes darted around the bedroom frantically in an attempt to find the source. Unable to find anything, Lincoln settled down and became calm once more. "I swear, it's just too much for me to handle."
Suddenly, a long green snake fell down from the ceiling and on top of Lincoln's head. Almost immediately, Lincoln began screaming and doing his best to remove the snake from his head. "Get off! Someone get it off!" Lincoln's bedroom door opened to reveal a pre-teen girl with short blonde hair, a green t-shirt, blue jeans, and a red sweatshirt tied around her waist. She chuckled and helped Lincoln free from the snake's coils.
"Sorry about that, Linc. You know how this big guy likes crawling through the vents."
"Yeah, Lana! I kind of noticed!" Lincoln snapped, causing Lana to give him an unamused expression.
"Yeesh, chill out big bro. He's not poisonous or anything." The snake's caretaker then took the scaly limbless creature and left the room. With Lana and the snake gone, Lincoln sat on his bed and let out several gasps of air while recovering from his earlier panicking. He glanced at the laptop and saw his girlfriend gazing at him with a look of concern and sympathy. Lincoln finally caught his breath and sat up straight on his bed.
"I really owe Bobby an apology about how he reacts around snakes." He sheepishly admitted before grabbing his laptop. "Uh, actually I think I'm going to get out of here. I don't want that thing trying to sneak up on me in here again." Lincoln then left his bedroom and walked downstairs into the living room. Taking a seat on the couch, he cleared his throat and set the laptop onto the coffee table. "So, anything cool been going on in the apartments? He asked out of curiosity. Ronnie Anne smiled and leaned back on her couch, her arms folded behind her head like a pillow.
"Nothing all that special really. Well, unless you count the prank war." She answered, causing Lincoln to lean forward. The look on his face showing a large sense of intrigue. Ronnie Anne continued on with the story. "All of my primos and I got into an argument about who is the prank genius when I'm babysitting them, along with Bobby and Lori's kids. So now we're in a giant practical joke fight." She explained.
"Ouch, sounds rough."
"It's not too bad. This isn't the first time this has happened. Plus the boys have been really focused on each other lately ever since Carlino's stink bomb. So, I'm just sitting back and watching the fireworks."
Ronnie Anne laughed a little to herself. But suddenly, a loud noise resembling quick inflation boomed from out of nowhere. Ronnie Anne screamed in surprise as she was launched a short distance into the air. The computer's microphone barely caught her scream as the constant tumbling of the computer caused the microphone to pick up a sort of static from the impacts. When it finally stopped rolling, the faint sounds of her pained groans were heard from the background. Lincoln shot up off the couch, understandably worried over his girlfriend's well-being.
"Ronnie Anne? Babe? Are you okay?" He questioned with a voice consumed by grief and fear. At first, the other end of the video chat was quiet, except for Ronnie Anne's groans as they recovered from the mishap. Her sounds of pain slowly got overshadowed by laughter that was heard from nearby. "Hey, who's there?" Lincoln asked, partially agitated over what happened. His question was answered when Ronnie Anne's cousin Carl picked up the laptop and turned it so the web cam was on him. Beside Carl was a girl with dark brown hair in a read t-shirt and purple skirt, who was giggling along with Carl.
"See, Adelaide? I told you that it would be fun." He bragged. The girl next to him, revealed to be Adelaide Chang stopped laughing and elbowed Carl in the arm.
"Alright, I admit it. That was cool." She confessed. Carl folded his arms and rolled his eyes.
"I don't think she could possibly top that. This prank war is as good as ours!" As Carl boasted, he was unaware of Ronnie Anne slowly approaching the pre-teens from behind. Her face seething with anger and now plastered with a nasty bruise on her cheek. Carl looked into the screen and let out a content sigh. "Sorry we had to interrupt your little chat with my prima, Lincoln. But all is fair in love and war." He reasoned. The lone son of The Loud family didn't give a verbal response. He simply gave a sly smile and pointed at the screen.
More specifically, he pointed behind the two pranksters. The pair got the hint and looked behind them to see Ronnie Anne. "Carl..." The teenager growled. Her little cousin instantly dropped all the pride he had over his prank and returned his attention to his friend with a newfound sense of fear.
"Run for it!" He shouted as Ronnie Anne made an attempt to grab him with both arms. Carl ducked down and managed to avoid them in time. Without wasting another second, he and Adelaide ran out of the camera's view and away from Ronnie Anne. She groaned once again as they ran out of the apartment completely. Lincoln's instincts kicked in as he saw his girlfriend's ire.
"You okay, Ronnie?"
"I'm fine. Bruised, but way better than what Carl's is going to be feeling. Next time I see him, I'm literally turning him into a human pretzel!" She vowed. Lincoln put a finger to his chin and started to ponder something.
"You know, I have an idea to get back at both of them. But it might cost us a lot of money in wrapping paper." He mused. Ronnie Anne thought about the suggestion for a moment before gaining an evil smile.
"Maybe an air bag in Carl's room too?"
"Absolutely. It'll be even more hilarious than when he did the chicken dance at your quincenera." Lincoln reminisced. Ronnie Anne chuckled at the mention of that day.
"That wasn't even the best part of the party for me." She confessed. Lincoln adopted a look of curiosity and looked at his girlfriend in an innocent manner.
"It wasn't? Your little cousin did the whole dance with the music and everything."
"It was funny. Although, there was one thing that I enjoyed more. But you should already know what it is." The Latina explained. Lincoln chuckled a bit.
"Well, I think I can take a guess." Lincoln looked up at the ceiling and let out a sigh. "In the city park. It was the final song the DJ played before the party ended." Ronnie Anne closed her eyes and the memory of the night came back to her as Lincoln continued. "Everyone found dance partners except for the two of us. And seeing no one else around, I walked up to you and asked to dance." Ronnie Anne couldn't resist laughing at that part of the story.
"You were so jittery and nervous. I thought you were going to pass out."
"Well I never really did a slow dance before. And it didn't help you looked so beautiful in that dress." Lincoln defended. Ronnie Anne smiled and turned her face to the side.
"Yeah? Well, I didn't really want to wear one at all. They aren't really my style, you know." Ronnie Anne replied. Lincoln narrowed his eyes and grinned.
"Well, I'm glad you made an exception. Because you shined brighter than any star that was in the sky that night."
"Aww, Linky... You're so..."
BOOM!
An explosion echoed through The Loud household. The force caused the whole place to shake violently and knock Lincoln down to the floor. Several pictures on the wall were knocked out of place and collapsed onto the ground as well. When the tremors finally stopped, Lily's voice was heard from upstairs. "LISA!" Lincoln winced at the sound of rage in his youngest sister's voice.
"I think it might be best if I go take care of that. Big brother duties." Lincoln reasoned. Ronnie Anne smiled and gave him a wave.
"Okay, Linky. I love you." Ronnie Anne then held her hands together in the shape of a heart. Lincoln returned the gesture before ending the call and closing the laptop. As he ran upstairs to take care of whatever Lisa had done to spark an explosion, two figures poked their heads out from behind the sofa. One, a pale girl with black hair that covered her eyes and clothes with various blacks and grays. The other, the exact opposite. A young blonde preteen with her long hair held back by a pink headband. Her bright pink dress complimented by her glittering diamond necklace and earrings
"Wow Lucy, you weren't kidding. They really did turn into copies of Lori and Bobby."
"Sigh. How history likes to repeat itself."
Well, there we go. Now that I've gotten this out of the way, I can get back to my bigger projects again. Oh, and just for fun, I want to see if you guys can count the amount of Lori and Bobby references I snuck in here. Because Lincoln and Ronnie seemed to have inherited a few... quirks from their in-laws.
Once again, Happy Valentine's Day everyone. Hope you have fun and spend it with someone special. :)
