Previously: Chuck and Hailey had an enjoyable date, they made plans to take a tour of Stanford together to get a feel of the place. On the other side of the country, things are not going too well as trouble appears to be on the horizon. What's the brain trust planning for future projects?

A/N: The biggest portion of this particular chapter was a dream Chuck had, I know in the original version of "An Extremely New Beginning" this had confused quite a bit of you. Which is why I thought to have this little information regarding that, you will see how it starts and ends.

CHUCK VS AN EXTREMELY NEW BEGINNING

EPISODE 6: DREAMS OF THE FUTURE, OR NIGHTMARE IN WAITING?

LOEWS HOLLYWOOD HOTEL / HOLLYWOOD, CA

***(Chuck's Dream)***

Chuck Bartowski felt like a new man, waking from his best night of sleep in years. He was very comfortable with no desires of wanting to get out of bed any time soon because he was wrapped up nice and warm, he realized that something else was keeping him warm besides the sheets and blankets. His mind slowly became aware that something was holding him down, scratch that, someone was holding him in place in a warm cuddling embrace.

Cautiously, Chuck opens his eyes coming to realize that he wasn't in his room. Scanning the area, he saw that he was in a luxurious hotel suite instead of his room at Casa Bartowski.

He thought to himself, "What the heck is going on here?"

He was taking in his surroundings before looking down. Much to his surprise, he saw a beautiful female snuggled up against him. His observation telling him she was sleeping peacefully with a huge smile on her face, enjoying the warm contact he was providing. He inwardly chuckled that she had a death grip on him that would rival Ellie's hugs, yet there was something familiar about his bedmate. Upon closer inspection at her face and black hair that was resting comfortably on the right side of his body. His mind screamed, "What in the world? She looks so much like Hailey, how is that possible?"

Looking at the night stand next to the bed, he finds a cell phone laying there. Stretching out with his left hand to grab it, the display screen lights up showing the time as '07:30'. At that moment, Chuck notices the date and nearly drops the phone from the shock. His mind screams, "This can't be right? Monday, July 10, 2006? I've lost 7 years?" Frantically, he looks it over seeing the different icons on the screen. He finds an unfamiliar one called Facebook.

"Facebook? What is that? Guess there's one way to find out."

He clicks on the icon to reveal a profile page, showing a small profile photo of him still sporting his curly hair and wearing his Nerd Herd uniform. He slowly scrolls down the page and notices something.

'Relationship status: In A Relationship with Hailey Smith'.

His eyes widen as he internally whispers, "Hailey and me are together still? What are the odds? Let's see what else I can find."

He finds the photos section then touches the icon opening up a few albums, he touches the one labeled 'US'. The gallery opens up showing various photos of him and Hailey together, he clicks on one of the photos bringing up a bigger image. The photo shows them on the beach with her laying on top of him and a football laying next to them while they smile towards the camera, the photo was posted by Hailey with the caption reading.

'Recreating the moment we met, no collision this time lol. Happy anniversary baby!'

Looking underneath he finds various comments and lots of 'likes'. Ellie-joy wasn't apparent from her comment.

"OMG! You two are just so adorable :-) Love you 2!"

There were of course funny comments from some of her uncles. Hollywood wrote, "I said it before, and I will say it again. Gag me with a spoon from all this sugary sweetness! Happy anniversary you crazy kids lol."

Gambino naturally had to take his usual shot at them, "Aw will you look at that, Hailey still holding on to her cuddly teddy bear boy toy named Chuck lol."

Shaking his head at the antics of her uncles, he was about to click on another photo when a text message popped up from Morgan.

"Dude! Where you at? Came through Morgan Door and you're not there. Did you forget we need to be at Buy More for our 9am shift!"

Confused at the message, Chuck thought to himself. "Why am I working at Buy More?"

He remembers Hailey invited him back to her room to watch some movies while they ate popcorn and cuddled on the bed. Of course, that was after a heavy make out session. He removed the blankets before noticing his attire, he was startled to realize he was wearing a white t-shirt and a pair of navy blue sweatpants with the Navy logo on them. His mind pondered, "Where did these clothes come from?"

It slowly dawned on him that Hailey handed him the shirt and sweatpants last night, after insisting he change into something more comfortable. She was so cute as she worried that his clothes might get wrinkled if he didn't change. Chuck's gaze shifted, and noticed the pink tank-top and white basketball shorts she wore for sleeping.

He was about to text Morgan back when he notices the clock on the night stand, his eyes went wide. It was 8am! According to Morgan, he needed to be at Buy More in an hour! He groaned realizing his spare Nerd Herd uniform was at the apartment, why didn't he think to pack it knowing more than likely this situation wouldn't happen? Giving himself a quick whiff, he needed to get a shower too. With a heavy groan knowing what it meant, he was so screwed.

Hailey's peaceful slumber came to an end when she felt the change in Chuck immediately. Opening her eyes, she saw him on the verge of freaking out. A quick glance at the clock told her the likely source of said freak out. She gently grabbed his face, and made him look in her eyes before she spoke in a soft soothing voice.

"Chuck, sweetheart, just breathe okay. Tell me what's wrong."

Chuck was not only confused, but panic stricken. Naturally, he began to ramble.

"Morgan just texted me, apparently I have to be at Buy More for 9am. It's just after 8 right now! I don't have a clean Nerd Herd uniform, need to get a shower, scoop Morgan up. I'm so screwed knowing that I'm going to be in so much trouble! I don't know if Ellie and Devon left for work yet, that will just make things worse."

Hailey grabbed his face to reassure him, "Chuck, calm down baby. You go in there and take your shower. I'll take of things, trust me. Now kiss me before you leave this bed Mister."

Chuck wasn't gonna refuse the order given to him, especially knowing they spent the night sharing the same bed again. He didn't know how Hailey could possibly solve his dilemma; but he trusts her fully by doing what she asked by making his way into the bathroom. Once she heard the water began to run, she grabbed his phone and saw the text from Morgan. She presses the call icon on the screen next to his name on the text as the display the call was being made. She lays the phone on the bed, putting it on speaker so she can hear him while pulling on a pair of sweatpants over her shorts and a t-shirt.

Morgan picked up on the second ring. "Hey buddy, where are you?"

"Hey Morgan, it's Hailey."

Morgan sounded confused, "Hailey? As in the Hailey who's dating Chuck?"

Hailey looks at the phone in shock, "Are you freaking kidding me Morgan?"

She was in no mood for what fantasy Morgan was having, her tone took on that hard edge as she went ballistic.

"Don't make me destroy your super secret stash of grape soda Grimes! Have you been eating too much mystery crisper, or drinking the latest concoction that Jeff came up with causing memory issues? Seriously Morgan, I'm two seconds away from hanging up on you and call Big Mike to personally tell him that Chuck and you are unable to work this morning. Apparently we need to take you to Westside Medical for Ellie to give you a CAT-scan, seeing that you need your head examined! You're supposed to be Chuck's best friend, or are you some cybernetic imposter to look and act like Morgan?"

Morgan spit out what little bit of grape slushy he was drinking and snapped out of whatever daze he was in.

"Whoa, geez, my bad Hailey. Sorry about that, brain freeze. So what's going on?"

Seeing that Morgan was back with the program, she explained the situation.

"We just woke up, and Chuck's freaking out because he doesn't have his Nerd Herd uniform. How fast can you get to his things at the apartment?"

Morgan's tone changed when he heard the seriousness of the situation, "Just walking back into the courtyard right now. I already climbed through 'The Morgan Door' earlier to avoid Ellie. That way she won't think anything's wrong."

Hailey relaxed after knowing Morgan was on top of things, "Thank you, Morgan. Chuck's finishing up in the shower right now. Once he's ready, I'm going to swing by there to scoop you up while he heads to the Buy More. I know time's working against us, but it'll be alright. Give me a few minutes to get there."

Morgan shifted to missing details he wanted info about, "Sounds like a plan. So, how did it go last night? Obviously well, since he stayed the night."

Hailey became slightly annoyed again, "We had a fun date as always, if that's what you're asking. We came back here to watch some movies, have some popcorn, and fell asleep. Nothing happened, if that's what you're thinking Morgan. Don't forget the spare uniform Morgan, Chuck's just getting out of the shower. Got to go."

Hailey ended the call before throwing a t-shirt on. When Chuck emerged from the bathroom, she grabbed the set of keys off the table and her purse before checking the clock.

They needed 45 minutes to get to Echo Park and then the Buy More. Knowing time was short, she placed her hands on his face so he would focus on her, "What I need you to do Chuck, is relax. While you were in the shower, I called Morgan using your phone so he would pick up immediately. He knows you stayed here with me last night.

I want you to go straight to Buy More in your Nerd Herder while I swing by the apartment and pick him up. He'll have your work clothes gathered up for you. Once we get to Buy More, you can change into your work clothes. If your boss gives you any problems, I can take care of it. He knew that we spent the day together yesterday.

Now give me a kiss before you leave. After all, it's not polite to leave your girlfriend without a goodbye kiss." Chuck wasn't going to disagree with her logic, not when she insisted on a goodbye kiss. Leaning down as she requested, he gave her a soft tender kiss on the lips which she returned with equal passion.

Breaking contact, Hailey looked in his eyes, "Now get going. I need to pick up Morgan if we're going to make it on time."

Chuck gave her a smile before they left the hotel. After watching him climb into the Nerd Herder, she climbed into a black Corvette Z06, and headed to Echo Park.

CASA BARTOWSKI / ECHO PARK, CA

Morgan Grimes was sitting at the fountain waiting for Hailey, still in shock from what he'd heard. His best friend had spent the night with the girl he was dating, it was confirmed when she called him using Chuck's phone as well. From what he could gather they had a fun date and went back to her place to watch movies, where they ended up falling asleep. He sighed as he could see that happening. On one hand he was happy for his best friend, but deep down it hurt that his heterosexual life partner could potentially be moving on from the plans he made. They were supposed to be live together in their own apartment, continue to work at Buy More, and play video games for as long as they wanted. It was every man-boy's dream!

His troubled thoughts were interrupted when the closing of a door. Looking up from his spot at the courtyard fountain, he saw Devon and Ellie coming out of the apartment wearing their scrubs when Devon spotted him.

"Hey Morgan, fancy seeing you here."

Knowing that Devon was being his usual laid back self, Morgan tried getting to the point.

"Yeah, it's a funny story really. Now don't get alarmed, but Chuck has a bit of an emergency."

Just as Morgan predicted she would when he said anything, Ellie was immediately frantic.

"What do you mean Chuck has an emergency? Is he okay? Where is he?"

Devon and Morgan could see Ellie going into "Mama-Bear/Over-Protective Mode."

Making a silent apology to Chuck, Morgan spilled the beans, "Chuck had a date with Hailey, apparently he spent the night."

Devon could not contain his enthusiasm, "Really! That's awesome!"

Ellie was stunned, "What do you mean he spent last night with her? Why wasn't I told about this by either of them?"

Morgan tried defending both Chuck and Hailey, "Please Ellie, this wasn't planned by either of them."

Ellie stubbornly refuses to accept their excuses, "I can't believe they would do something so irresponsible! Chuck I can understand since he's always forgetful, but Hailey's always been the reliable one with her early morning routines. There's no way they'll be able to pick you up from who knows where they're at and get to work on time! Just wait until I see them!"

Morgan took advantage of Ellie getting winded, "Probably because they knew how you'd react if you found out. Anyway, they had a fun time as usual before going back to her hotel room to watch some movies. They fell asleep and just woke up not too long ago. We're supposed to be at Buy More for 9 o'clock, I started freaking out because neither of them were here and his spare work clothes were in the closet. She called me using his phone and explained the situation while he was taking a quick shower. I already got what he needs, you can see it's folded up neatly in my bag here. He'll be there in time since he has the Herder."

Before another word was spoken, they heard then saw a black Corvette Z06 power-slides into the complex. Hailey spotted Morgan standing there with Ellie and Devon. Hailey beckoned Morgan to get moving, "Top of the morning to ya El and Dev! Double time it Morgan, time's not a luxury to waste!"

"That's my ride, see ya later!" Morgan ran over to the car, climbed into the passenger seat, and buckled up as the Corvette sped down the road. Ellie and Devon were speechless, looking at each other in confusion.

***(End Chuck's Dream)***

LOEWS SANTA MONICA BEACH HOTEL / SANTA MONICA, CA

Chuck's eyes snapped open immediately before he began scanning his surroundings. Looking down to his right, he sees Hailey was indeed still snuggling against him as usual. Upon closer inspection, he realizes both of them were wearing the exact same sleepwear that was in his dream.

His mind was still racing about how realistic everything had appeared to be. "That was some dream, or was it a nightmare?"

From what he could remember, everyone was in their 20's. Ironically, his and Hailey's path were following the same pattern in his dream. That itself was freaking him out, "Is this a vision of my future, or some hallucination?"

The nightmare part wasn't just still working at Buy More, but Ellie was upset at him and Hailey because they didn't let her know he ended up spending the night. Why would she be mad about them spending time together, if not the night? Were they supposed to report to her everything they did in their relationship, like it was some kind of twisted double-secret probation or something? Why was Morgan confused about their relationship? She obviously knew enough to know about his secret stash of grape soda, adding to the fact she knows how toxic the infamous concoctions of whatever drinks Jeff Barnes creates can do to somebody. Ellie's a head doctor too?

Could it be a vision of the future if things continue to follow the current path, or were they supposed to cross paths later in life? He still couldn't figure out what happened in that life, his mind immediately reminded him of a classic movie trilogy.

"Great Scott! This is some kind of 'Back To The Future' type of thing here, was this dream potentially my future? How could I be working at Buy More a few years from now? I'm going to Stanford for crying out loud. Where's Doc Brown when you need him to explain this stuff?"

Before he could analyze the situation even more, he felt Hailey began stirring next to him. Her right hand, that had been laying on his chest eventually moved up to his face and started caressing his cheek as she murmured.

"Chuck, sweetie, you're thinking too much again. I can hear the wheels turning. Go back to sleep baby, it's too early to get out of bed."

Chuck had to fight the grin threatening to break out. His new girlfriend seemed to be in tune with him. Silently, he joked to himself that she was 'force-sensitive' like a Jedi and could read his thoughts. He kisses her forehead before the vibrating phone interrupted things. Picking up the phone, he frowns seeing Ellie was calling.

"Wondering what she's calling about this time, she knew we had a date last night. Oh well, let's get this over with." He muses before answering.

"Hey sis, little early for a wakeup call isn't it?"

Ellie answers back in a no-nonsense way, "As a matter of fact little brother, it's not. You know it's already 8am, I bet you're still in bed too."

Chuck pulled back the phone for a moment to look at it, "Are you having your period, or just in a bitchy mood?" He wanted to ask what he thought, instead better to keep things peaceful or 'Hurricane Ellie' would go from a Tropical Storm to Cat 5 real quick. Although, he wanted to find out the reason for her mood.

"Have you not had your coffee yet? Is that why you're calling to nag me El? Or maybe because I have a chance to sleep in some, but you have early classes?"

Ellie fired back, "Watch your tone with me Charles Irving Bartowski! I've already had a cup this morning, what I want to know is when are you planning on coming home? You do realize that fall semester starts soon right? Have you already forgotten you still have to pack some things for Stanford? Don't forget you will need to check your schedule and syllabus for each class, that way you can get your books and supplies already taken care of instead of waiting until last minute. You should also take a tour of the campus, that way you can learn your way around to avoid being late for class."

Chuck couldn't believe what he was hearing. He was enjoying his time with Hailey, and now Ellie calls early morning just to nag. He loves his sister dearly, but this is becoming too much. He decided to end things quickly.

"Look, El, I need to get off the phone here. I will talk to you later."

He abruptly ended the call before Ellie could respond with any more nagging comments. It was confusing to him why she decided to start that up this morning. He mused to himself, "The caffeine in her coffee probably hasn't kicked in yet. Either that, or she needs another cup or two. Oh well, not my problem."

He laid back on his side, wrapping his arms back around his sleeping girlfriend before dozing off. What Ellie didn't know was that him and Hailey already had everything planned out, there was no need to rush things today.

OPERATIONS CENTER / CODENAME: NEW MILLENNIUM BEACH

David Smith sat at his computer reading over the latest information he received from his various contacts on the training progress for the current crop of student pilots in training for the military. Pensacola, Meridian, and Kingsville Naval Air Stations handled the Coast Guard, Marine Corps, and Navy pilot training. Columbus, Laughlin, and Vance were the Air Force Bases for their pilot training. Being a pilot himself, he could easily figure out which ones would be able to take the next step or not. He and his wife Elizabeth were living proof with how much they wanted to be pilots, they knew from the start how hard things were going to be and pushed themselves to the limit or beyond sometimes to accomplish their dream. There was also certain height restrictions for being a pilot as they were on the opposite ends of the height standards, he was pushing the limits literally with his 6'4" frame. His lovely wife Elizabeth was the exact opposite, barely making it at 5'5". He knew better than anybody that she more than made up for her size with a variety of ways, most notably her fiery temper and determination. She was always passionate about flying, it was no wonder they clicked so easily when CAG first paired them together on his first carrier deployment. Looking at the family photos on his desk, he was a bit torn that his youngest daughter Hailey. His little girl has grown up and now following in the family footsteps, he knew this was going to happen some day.

The knock on his door interrupted his thoughts as he saw Spyder with a concern look on his face, David raised an eyebrow and asked, "What's going on?"

Spyder breathed a sigh, "Eagle's coming tomorrow. We've been picking up some chatter, despite it not being much. Still having the kids keeping their ears tuned in, Professors Egg and O. are crunching the latest numbers from the data on the two personal projects along with the reports on the newest toy for the Zoomies, there's also scuttlebutt about the JSF project that's being modified with Lockheed Martin and Boeing. Estimates have them doing testing at Edwards around this time frame next year."

David nods taking in everything before asking, "With everyone coming in here, I think we need to contact our residential High-Roller. Figure with his expertise in the numbers, would really help make things clearer for all of us and you know Eagle trusts his business analysis."

Spyder smirks back with a grin, "You know having him to fly cross country will sour his week right? Of course, that's the bonus of such meeting just to see him pout."

David widely grins with his reply as he opens a drawer pulling out a fine Cuban cigar, he lights it up before enjoying a nice long puff before answering.

"What do you expect? Who else is gonna keep us on our toes? You know that's the common theme of our unique group, everybody's a target in our dysfunctional family environment."

Spyder nodded in agreement before the closing the door leaving David alone, he leans back propping his feet up on the desk relaxing knowing tomorrow will be a different story.
