CHAPTER 1

2148.3.28

4:10 PM

Name: Bakugou Katsuki

Gender: Male

Age: 14

Quirk: Explosions

The abduction went smoothly, and he was transported to the base without much difficulty. Once the sedation wore off, he awoke, and just as we expected, he reacted with high levels of aggression. Even without access to his Quirk, his behavior proved to be explosive all on its own. Thankfully, because of our careful monitoring of him, we were prepared for this and had Hotaru-san distribute controlled shocks to him until he settled down. We explained his purpose in being here and how he was going to participate in our research and like every resident when they first arrived, he responded negatively. But that's okay, he'll come along like all the others have. His Number Label is: XN.061 and will henceforth be referred to as such in future entries. The name Bakugou Katsuki is no more.

- Takahiro Riko, Chief Assistant.

2148.4.28

10:45 AM

It has officially been one month since XN.061 was first admitted. They remain hostile and difficult to work with, causing harm to fellow staff and as a result, we've ended up having to use excessive methods of restraint. Though I believe Saito-san is enjoying subduing them a bit too much, it's been a while since we've had such a… combative project. He's understandably very excited. Regardless, XN.061 has proved to be a suitable subject and Dr. Arakawa is very pleased.

- Takahiro Riko, Chief Assistant.

2148.10.19

2:00 PM

XN.061 never ceases to surprise us. We had hoped they were finally settling in based on our observations of their behavior these past two weeks but as it turns out, we were so very wrong. They've assaulted another resident during lunch hour with their tray, inflicting trauma to the head. The wound wasn't fatal but required a fair number of stitches. Told from bystanders present, XN.061 was said to have suddenly gone hysterical, displaying unnaturally high levels of distress and aggression, and considering how they normally are, that's saying something. For now, XN.061 has been sent to solitary confinement until we can understand what set them off.

- Takahiro Riko, Chief Assistant.

2149.4.14

5:40 PM

Even with just a little over one year of data recorded, XN.061's folder is coming along nicely. They've provided us with wonderfully insightful information thus far. Their behavior has also gotten remarkably better since their initial recruitment. They've also decided against solitary confinement and have agreed to be amongst other residents once more. When the good news reached him, Dr. Arakawa was elated at the progress.

- Takahiro Riko, Chief Assistant.

2149.6.07

8:30 AM

XN.061's performance lately has been subpar at best. Of course, such a dramatic change didn't go unnoticed and they were pulled in for a consultation. XN.061 has admitted they have been suffering from insomnia for the past week and while the cause is unknown, we've settled on administering them one of the hypnotics we have stocked. They will be monitored for the next two weeks to see how they react to the medication.

- Takahiro Riko, Chief Assistant.

2149.6.15

8:00 PM

It has been a little over a week since XN.061 was given the sleeping aid and so far, so good. They've returned to their normal quality of results with little difficulty and even mellowed out in behavior just a tad. If we were to increase the dosage a bit, would it placid his mood even more so? Hmm, I will have to discuss this later with Dr. Arakawa.

- Takahiro Riko, Chief Assistant.

2149.7.02

9:30 PM

XN.061 was rewarded with a haircut today and they seemed especially pleased by the change. They also weren't operated on today, and instead had a checkup to see if there were any changes or updates that needed to be made to his file. Once everything was finished and finalized, XN.061 chose to stay in their cell and sleep in. Seeing as sleep is essential to our subjects' health, Dr. Arakawa allowed it. Hope they rest well.

- Takahiro Riko, Chief Assistant.

2151.1.03

5:30 AM

We've relocated to our new base since our last hideout location was compromised. Thankfully, we've managed to move successfully and once we've properly settled in, we can continue with our research. XN.061 seems to have taken their first relocation fairly well and cooperated with us nicely. Their behavior as of late has also been quite stable and their usual stress levels have decreased to about half of what they were before.

- Takahiro Riko, Chief Assistant.

2151.4.20

1:00 PM

XN.061 suddenly fell unconscious after receiving their monthly dose of Quirk suppressants. Based on our body scan, they had fractured multiple ribs and were suffering from a low-grade fever. We have no idea how long they've been hiding this for, but it was long enough that their ribs had started to heal, although some were misaligned. Those had to be corrected with the Doctor's quirk and afterward, XN.061 was sent to their cell on mandated bed rest, also being medicated for the fever. Dr. Arakawa was in awe at XN.061's stubbornness, seeing as they must have been in an excruciating amount of pain almost constantly, but had refused to admit so. Of course, they had always withheld the true amount of pain or discomfort they felt, but never to this extent. In any case, Dr. Arakawa has instructed Saito-san to keep a close eye on them from now on to prevent such situations from repeating.

- Takahiro Riko, Chief Assistant.

2151.6.13

7:15 AM

XN.061 was once more put in solitary confinement due to having an outburst that resulted in one of our nursing staff receiving a critical injury to his eyes. XN.061 even tried retaliating in an attempt to avoid going. Unfortunately, all it served to do was stack up on their punishment and they had to be chained down and restrained to avoid further conflict. It's very upsetting honestly; they should know better than to act like this. Such insolence will not be tolerated.

- Takahiro Riko, Chief Assistant.

2151.9.18

11:00 AM

It's been three months since they were first put in solitary confinement and XN.061 had gotten their restraints taken off today. They showed improved behavior much quicker compared to their last containment the year before. They are much calmer which is a blessing in itself. Dr. Arakawa is very pleased. If they continue this route, they will be allowed to be among fellow residents much sooner than anticipated.

- Takahiro Riko, Chief Assistant.

2151.12.22

9:30 PM

XN.061 has become much more honest in regard to how they're feeling! Just earlier today, while receiving their monthly dose of Quirk suppressants, XN.061 admitted to having been dealing with headaches for the past two days. Only two days and they've come to us for assistance! Wonderful!

- Takahiro Riko, Chief Assistant.

2153.2.20

3:30 AM

Over the years they have been here, XN.061 has proved to be one of our most stable cases. So much so that Dr. Arakawa has decided to retry "Project: Hybrid" using XN.061 as the specimen. Because of what happened with our previous subject, we all questioned the confidence of such a weighted decision. Dr. Arakawa had insisted that the project will be done differently this time to avoid such disastrous results again and he truly believes that with this new method, XN.061 will survive. He also said that instead of Aves, we shall try a mammal to limit complications even further. We can only hope he's right.

- Takahiro Riko, Chief Assistant.

2153.4.18

1:50 AM

Today marks the first procedure in Project: Hybrid. We've opted to start with XN.061's eyes; that way, if something does go wrong it won't be detrimental to their overall health. The goal of this surgery is to alter the retina, adjusting rods and cones to opposite (or at least balanced) levels. The result should allow XN.061 to have night vision. Fingers crossed that this all goes well. XN.061 will be put under sedation to avoid unnecessary conflict.

- Takahiro Riko, Chief Assistant.

2153.4.23

7:00 AM

It's the third day since the surgery and we've taken off XN.061's bandages. It seems we can relax a bit as XN.061 has retained their sight and performed decently in the vision tests. They described having slight blurriness, but we've assured them that it should go away in about twelve hours or less. We will continue to monitor them for any problems, but the healing time should take 3-4 weeks at most. Honestly, the fact that this worked as planned is amazing.

- Takahiro Riko, Chief Assistant.

2153.5.27

12:00 AM

So, it's been a little over four weeks since the surgery and XN.061's healing time went relatively smoothly. They briefly suffered from dry eye but are otherwise perfectly healthy. Thank goodness. Project: Hybrid, so far, is proving to be a success.

- Takahiro Riko, Chief Assistant.

2153.6.10

1:00 PM

Dr. Arakawa has decided to move onto phase two of Project: Hybrid, feeling encouraged by how well the initial surgery went. XN.061 is most definitely going to dislike this part even more so than the last. But even so, Project: Hybrid is only going to get more complicated from here on out, so I hope they'll be able to stick it to the end.

- Takahiro Riko, Chief Assistant.

2154.5.19

11:30 AM

The hormone treatment XN.061 is undergoing has continued to progress well as there are no further signs of rejection. However, their behavior has become quite hostile today as they've assaulted staff attending to him in fits of hysterical fury. As punishment, their wrists and hands have been restrained and Hotaru-san is keeping an eye on them as well. We don't want to have to use the shock method but honestly, they're acting similarly to their first year here and it's quite disappointing. While it's understandable XN.061 has been feeling stressed from the last procedure, they should know better. They cannot act however they please. So, until XN.061 manages to calm down, the restraints aren't coming off.

- Takahiro Riko, Chief Assistant.

2154.6.15

10:25 PM

Dr. Arakawa has decided to have XN.061 participate in the breeding program. XN.061, as expected, was far from thrilled with the notion. The goal is to see if the hybrid additions will be passed down to the offspring, therefore giving it the desired attributes without medical interference, functioning similarly to Quirks. The procedure is set to begin tomorrow at midday.

- Takahiro Riko, Chief Assistant.

2154.7.01

4:50 PM

It's been about fifteen days since the coupling yet there haven't been signs of implantation. Dr. Arakawa wants to give it another couple of days to see if it's just late, before trying again. XN.061 has also been extremely angry over the past week, lashing out at Dr. Arakawa repeatedly when given the chance. Despite the aggressive behavior, Dr. Arakawa has insisted on not harming XN.061 in any way, shape, or form for the next two weeks.

- Takahiro Riko, Chief Assistant.

2154.7.18

12:30 PM

It's been a month since the first attempt at breeding and the result for pregnancy has turned out negative. The reason for the failure of implantation is quite simple: the eggs produced were immature. It seemed the cause was an underproduction of the luteinizing hormone. Fortunately, it's an easy fix with hormone therapy. We will wait two or three weeks to see how the treatment goes.

- Takahiro Riko, Chief Assistant.

2154.9.30

2:30 PM

Today was the second attempt at creating offspring and Dr. Arakawa remains confident. Meanwhile, XN.061's mood has yet to mellow out and other than the angry outbursts, they also still seem to experience restlessness and anxiety. For now, they've been put in solitary confinement once more, to avoid potential conflict and/or injuries to other residents.

- Takahiro Riko, Chief Assistant.

2154.8.12

6:40 PM

It was another fail. There was no sign of fertilization. The theory we have so far is that the mating wasn't long enough to induce ovulation. We'll try again.

- Takahiro Riko, Chief Assistant.

2154.10.05

4:00 PM

Today marks the fourth failed attempt. It seems that XN.061 is infertile, diagnosed as of yesterday. Dr. Arakawa decided to stop the experiment and pull XN.061 from the breeding segment. On the other hand, XN.061 has also been scheduled for a thorough examination tomorrow after complaining of pain. They've also displayed symptoms of lethargy, weakness, and even vomiting late this morning.

- Takahiro Riko, Chief Assistant.

2155.3.20

9:25 AM

XN.061 has started complaining once more about pain, this time in their lower spine. It's gotten to the point where XN.061 has reported being unable to sleep due to the discomfort. We've decided to put them on a low-level opioid. Hopefully, that will dull the pain enough so that they can rest.

- Takahiro Riko, Chief Assistant.

2155.5.02

7:30 PM

Dr. Arakawa fears that the Heroes may be onto us, once again. Saito-san has been our lookout and has reported many unusual instances since late last month and he believes it's time to relocate once more. As of today, we have already begun transporting our equipment.

- Takahiro Riko, Chief Assistant.

2155.5.20

5:34 AM

We've managed to get most of our materials transported to our new location and now we're focusing on moving the experiments; right now, high priority projects are being transported first. While that's happening, we're rounding up the semi-high priority projects. I have five more assigned to me, and among them is XN- -
