Through the portal- part 2

thunderb85 and webeonceing2681 asked for a oneshot of a sequel to Ch2681 "Through the portal" where Charming realises Emma is hurt. Snowing and Henry feel guilty that they're ok and that Emma always tries to do that; put them before herself. They have to take care of her head injury.

Important.

Ok, so May Muses is over, but the story continues! Bearing the popularity of the month, I've decided to make a few changes to the way OCF is done…

All topics are still open, I'm not closing any back off…YET. If people begin to take the piss, I'll close things off again, otherwise people cyber yell at me.

Old sequel requests are still allowed. You can request a sequel for any chapter that hasn't already had 2 (yup, that one is sticking!). However, no chapter name and number, no sequel. I know I'm going on, but it's impossible to write a sequel to a chapter I can't remember, and I'm not spending ages looking for it.

Just to clarify, the gap rule is now back in place (waiting 3 batches after your last request was posted before asking for something else). Guest reviewers, if I suspect it's the same person, your requests are simply deleted. Want to prove you're not making multiple requests? Create an account.

Right, that's that. Let's get back to the storytelling!...Oh yeah, one more thing. I have a special week planned for later in the summer. But in order to give myself a bit of a break (and work on another project) that can be revealed later ;).

They both knew that something wasn't right. Emma's eyes appeared to be unable to open fully. She winced painfully whenever they walked through a particularly sunny area. Charming frowned. She was hiding something. When she, once again, winced painfully at the direct sunlight, Charming started looking for other clues. He quickly found one when he noticed an already protruding bump on the back of her head.

"Emma, your head!" He announced. Snow and Henry looked over.

"It's nothing." Emma quickly insisted. "Let's keep moving…"

"Emma, no." Charming said, gently grabbing her arm and coming closer to examine the wound. He hissed. "Yeah, that's a nasty bump you've got there. It looks fresh. When did this happen?" He asked her. Emma stayed silent.

"Emma." Snow said firmly. "Your father asked you a question." Emma sighed.

"Look, it's no big deal." Emma snapped. "When we fell through the portal, I created a soft landing for you guys. There wasn't enough time to create one for me. I took a hard hit. I'm fine." Emma tried to keep moving, but Charming held onto her.

"No, you're not fine." He said simply. He reached into his backpack and tore a strip off one of his spare shirts. He poured some of the cool water from his canteen onto it and placed it on Emma's head. She yelped. "I know it stings, but it will help." He promised her.

Snow and Charming shared a concerned look. Snow could see Henry about to tell his mom off. She gently squeezed his hand. Now was not the time. She would be too defensive. No, they would bide their time on this one, but the conversation would be had. After all, it wasn't the first time Emma put them all before herself. She'd became the Dark One for them all, clearly she hadn't learned from that to lean on the ones she loved most. Otherwise she would have at least told them about her head before she was nearly collapsing. Clearly, there was still work to be done on those walls of hers.
