"John. Coralina. It's come to our attention that you two are unemancipated minors living on your own," Cheryl stated as the twins sat across from her in her stuffy office.

"No not true."

"Nope we're not living on our own, Cheryl," Coral responded. "Coralina I need honesty from you both if you want me to help you," Cheryl stated.

"I am being honest," she replied, shrugging, "John and I don't live at the Chateau by ourselves." What the woman didn't need to know was that it was with JJ and not their uncle.

Pursing her lips Cheryl jotted a note down in their file before looking back up at the twins, "Okay then when is the last time you spoke to your uncle?" she asked.

"Uh 34 minutes ago," John B answered. "And when was the last time you saw him?" she asked.

"Two hours and uh forty three minutes ago," her brother replied sounding like he was asking a question.

Shaking her head Coral rolled her eyes, "Look Cheryl. Our uncle is taking care of us. We can't help it if he's working and can't call you back right away or make your little meeting here. What do you want from the guy? You want him to risk losing his job and then how does he take care of us?" Coral questioned crossing her arms over her chest as she stared at the social worker.

Sighing Cheryl removed her glasses, "Look I've given him plenty of time. We're gonna come out there tomorrow to talk to him and if he's not there we're gonna have to move this along to foster care. I'll do everything I can to place you both in the same home," Cheryl told them.

"We're in the same home now Cheryl," Coral snapped as she got to her feet and left the office. "Did you think that was gonna help?" John B questioned the social worker as he followed his sister from the room.

Finding Coral outside sitting on a bench with her head between her legs he sat down next to her and put his arm around her shoulders. "They're not separating us, Coral Bug," he told her.

Raising her head she nodded as he wiped her tears away. "Let's get back to the island. The sky isn't looking good," he told her.

"That storms coming in tonight," she reminded him as they walked back to the van. "Maybe we'll get lucky and the wind will take out DCS," he said as she laughed.

Taking the ferry back across from the mainland John B dropped Coral off at the Wreck. "Do you have a way home?" he asked. "I'll call JJ," she told him, climbing out of the van and heading into the restaurant.

There were only a few diehard locals to wait on. Most of her shift she was helping Mike and Anna lock down the restaurant for the incoming storm. "This is gonna hit soon so why don't you get on out of here and get home," Mike told her looking out the window.

"Sounds like a plan," Coral agreed, heading to the backroom to drop off her apron and to grab her bag. "Stay safe," she called heading out of the restaurant.

Digging through her bag for her cellphone Coral cursed when she came up empty handed. Glancing at the sky she started the trek home hoping the rain would hold off. Halfway home her hope was diminished when the sky opened up and started pouring.

"Fuck," she yelled as she hurried towards home. Hearing a car pulling alongside her, Coral looked over her shoulder and rolled her eyes.

"Coralina, get in," Rafe yelled out the open window from the driver's seat. "No thanks," she yelled back as she continued through the rain.

"Coralina don't be stubborn. You're gonna get sick and I want to apologize," he told her. Glaring at the boy Coral sighed before climbing into the truck, "I'm only here so I can hear king kook apologize for being a dick," she stated crossing her arms over her chest.

"I don't expect anything more," he said reaching back and throwing a sweatshirt at her.

"I don't want this and that's not what you implied when you were buying drugs in the parking lot," she reminded him.

"You're fucking shivering. Just put the damn sweatshirt on, and I'm sorry for what I said. I wasn't myself and I realized that. I'm not doing that shit anymore," he told her.

Slipping the sweatshirt over her head Coral glanced at the boy next to her, "I don't forgive you, but I'm glad you're not doing that shit anymore."

Laughing Rafe pulled back out on the road and headed towards the Chateau. Pulling into the driveway she gave him a look, "Should I be worried you know where I live?" she questioned.

"It's a small island," he retorted. "Well thanks for the ride," she said opening the door and jumping out. "Anytime," he yelled as she slammed the door and ran through the rain to the porch.

Completely soaked she kicked her muddy shoes off and was pulling the wet sweatshirt over her head when JJ came out on the porch, "Who brought you home? I've been calling you."

"Yeah I didn't have my phone," she told him, hanging Rafe's sweatshirt on a nail to dry. Narrowing his eyes JJ questioned who's sweatshirt she had.

Sighing Coral moved into the house, "JJ I don't want to argue with you," she said heading for the bathroom, "Where's my brother?" she asked.

"I don't know he wasn't here when I got here," he told her, "And why would we argue?" he questioned, following her into the bathroom, "Who brought you home, Coralina?"

Turning the shower on Coral pulled her wet shirt over her head, "I was walking home and it started pouring. Rafe pulled up and offered me a ride," she told him simply as she unbuttoned her shorts and let them fall.

"Rafe." he repeated, "After what he said to you you willingly got into a car with that psycho?"

"Look I know but in case you missed it there's a storm going on out there and I just wanted to get home," she told him, "He tried apologizing. I told him I didn't forgive him and here we are."

"You know how I feel about that motherfucker."

Shaking her head at him she crossed the small space and wrapped her arms around him, "I know, but you have nothing to worry about. You're the only one I want helping me out of this wet bra and panties," she whispered, kissing his jaw as she slid her hands under his shirt and pulled it up and over his head.

Groaning as she ran her hands down his chest to his belt buckle, he kicked the bathroom door shut, "Distracting me with sex, Coral, that's low."

Taking a step back Coral raised her eyebrows, "Are you complaining?" she asked, reached behind her back and unsnapping her bra letting it fall to the floor.

"Rafe who," he muttered as he yanked her to him, turning her laugh into a moan as he devoured her mouth.

"Yo, either one of you been outside?" questioned John B the next morning from her doorway.

"I've got polio bro I can't walk," JJ grunted out.

Cracking her eye open Coral saw John B was gone from the doorway, "I had too much dick last night, I can't walk."

"She's kidding," JJ yelled, jumping up from her bed and turning to the empty doorway as Coral laughed. "Oh my God, your face was the fucking best," she laughed, wiping tears from her eyes.

"You're not fucking funny."

Still laughing from the scare she gave him Coral followed JJ outside to assess the damage from the storm. "Damn Agatha did some work," JJ called to John B who was cleaning branches out of the Pogue.

"The chickens and rooster seem to be okay," Coral called from across the yard as she fed the animals. "What a relief," John B snarked as Coral gave him the finger.

"So what are you thinking?" JJ asked John B as he leaned against a downed tree branch. "I'm thinking that storm surge pushed all the crabs out on the marsh maze. All those drum are going to chase the crab," Coral heard her brother say.

"The yard's a mess and we have no power and all he can think about is fishing," she muttered, walking over to the boys.

"What about DCS?" JJ asked, putting his arm around her, "Wasn't that today?"

"Nah, they're not getting on a ferry today," he answered, throwing more branches out of the boat, "Come on think about it. It's God telling us to fish."

After changing into more appropriate boat wear and finding her phone on the floor of the Twinkie Coral joined the boys on the Pogue. "Where we heading, boys?" she asked, jumping into the boat.

"Pope's first then Kie's," John B answered as he started the boat while JJ pushed them away from the dock.

"Hey, check it out. Look what I found in the Twinkie," she said to JJ holding up her phone. "Fat good it did you there," he replied. "Yeah, well there's no service so it doesn't look like it's gonna be much good now either," she said, putting it inside JJ's bag.

Heading up the channel towards the dock of Heywards Seafood Coralina laid out on the bow soaking in the sun as her brother and JJ commented about the destruction caused from the store.

"Look at this place," John B whistled as they passed boats that had been destroyed, parts of the dock that had broken, and tree limbs and debri all over the place.

"We're gonna be cleaning this up all summer," JJ commented as he stood above Coral surveying the docks. Lifting her sunglasses up she looked up at the boy, "Who's cleaning this up? You're not gonna lift a finger," she sassed.

"You be quiet before I come down there and show you what I can do with my fingers."

"Oh, shut the fuck up," John B yelled from where he was steering the boat as the other two laughed. "Well look who we have here," JJ cat called.

Flipping to her stomach Coralina could see Pope at the end of the dock hosing the mud from the storm off. Hearing her brother make a static noise Coral looked over her shoulder to see him cupping his hand against his shoulder like he was talking into a walkie talkie.

"We have a safety meeting, attendance mandatory, over," he mimicked making more static noises.

Squinting at them Pope shook his head, "I can't my pop's got me on lockdown," he told them. "Come on Pope," Coral called sitting up.

"Yeah, Dude," JJ called before mimicking static and talking into his shoulder like John B, "Your dad's a pussy, over." Seeing Mr. Heyward walking down the dock Coral hissed JJ's name.

"Oh I heard that you little bastard," he called to JJ.

"We need your son, Mr. Heyward," Coral called. "Yeah and island rules, day after a hurricane is a free day," JJ told him, smiling, "Everyone knows that," he shrugged.

"Hey there Coralina," Heyward greeted before switching his gaze to JJ "And who the hell made that bullshit up that you're spewing," Heyward questioned. "The pentagon I think. Pretty sure I have a card around here somewhere," JJ told the older man digging in his pockets.

"We promise to bring him back in one piece Mr. Heyward," Coral called as John B was telling Pope to get in the boat. "Dad I promise I'll do it tomorrow," Pope swore before dropping the hose and making a dash for the Pogue as it was passing the dock.

"Boy, you get your ass back here," Heyward yelled, "When you get back you're gonna clean shrimp, clean fish, and clean your dirty ass room. And I don't like your friends."

"I'm personally offended by that Mr. Heyward," Coral yelled. "I expect him back in one piece, Coralina," Heyward yelled at the waving girl.

Continuing up the waterway they headed to Kie's dock. Twisting around Coral scooted to the very end of the boat and let her legs dangle as the boat glided through the water. Seeing Kie walking down her dock carrying a cooler Coral waved, "Hey gorgeous," she called.

"Beautiful," the curly haired girl called back waving with her free hand. "What do you got there?" Coral asked. "Oh you know some juice boxes," Kie answered, smiling.

"Yeah, you got my kind of juice boxes?" JJ asked dropping down next to Coral on the bow as Pope held a hand out to help Kie into the moving boat. "Are there any other kinds?" Kie questioned setting the cooler down and flipping the lid open.

"Hell yeah," JJ whooped, taking two and handing one to Coral.

The group had been out on the water for a few hours alternating fishing and swimming. Pope was now driving the boat up through the marsh so that John B could indulge in the alcohol.

"Hey Pope go a little faster," JJ requested as he climbed up to stand on the bow above where Coralina was sitting. "Oh no I'm moving," John B groaned standing from where he'd been sitting next to Kie on the starboard side and moving to the back of the boat.

Looking up at JJ who was currently holding his beer up letting the speed of the boat take the alcohol from the bottle to his mouth Coral laughed, "JJ it never works," she said sliding closer to the front of the bow to avoid the spray of JJ's beer.

"It's gonna work this time," he declared as Kie was yelling about beer in her hair. "Alright JJ stop," Pope yelled.

One minute Coral was sitting on the bow laughing with her friends and the next she was flying through the air hitting the water with a resounding slap. Completely disoriented after swallowing a mouthful of marsh water Coral opened her eyes under the murky water trying to decipher which way was up.

Looking around frantically she felt her chest growing tighter at the lack of oxygen when suddenly JJ was there in front of her yanking her up to the surface. As soon as her head cleared the water Coral started coughing as she gasped for air.

"You're okay. You're okay," JJ was telling her as he kept them above the water. "Coral?" John B yelled from the boat, "JJ get her over here," he yelled.

Still coughing Coral ran her hands over JJ's face, "Are you okay?" she asked. "Well I think my heels touched the back of my head, but I'm okay," he assured her as he swam them over to the boat where her brother was hanging over the side.

"What the fuck happened?" JJ asked as John B and Pope both pulled Coral out of the water and back into the boat. "I hit a sandbar," Pope told him as he stood up on the bow to look out over the marsh.

"Coral are you okay?" Kie asked as John B pulled JJ out of the water. "My face feels like I ran into a wall or something," Coral told her. "I'm pretty sure you hit the water face first," JJ said, coming to sit next to her as he looked her over.

"Hey guys," Pope called from where he was still standing at the bow of the boat, "I think there's a boat down there." Looking up at the boy bent over looking at something in the water Kie rolled her eyes, "Yeah right," she said climbing up next to him and looking over the edge.

"Holy shit you guys. He's right."

"What are you talking about?" John B questioned as he got up next to them and looked out too. "Right there," Pope told him, pointing to where they could see the outline of a boat under the water.

"Fuck, there's seriously a boat down there," John B said, "Come on let's go," he said as he stripped off his shirt and jumped in the water followed by Pope and Kiara, "Guys come on," John B yelled.

Hesitating JJ looked at Coral. "Go," she told him, "I've swallowed enough marsh water for the day. I'm gonna sit this one out."

"I'll be back," he told her, kissing her quickly before diving back off the boat.
