Younger

"Well If I'm so bloody young they can do all the grunt work without me." Emma grumbled to herself. She couldn't believe how patronising they were all being. Apparently because of the curse making them all older than they seemed, that gave them the right to treat her like a child. Not only that, but apparently because she'd only been in the Enchanted Forest for such a short time, she had no way of actually knowing what they were truly up against so it was best she didn't go off alone. What next? Was she going to have to hold someone's hand when she crossed the street? No thank you.
As soon as Emma had the opportunity, she gave them all the slip. If she wasn't going to be appreciated, they could find whoever was behind it all without her. Maybe then they'd appreciate the help her magic brought. Until then, she'd hang around with someone else who understood. August. Like her, he hadn't been involved in the curse, so people often still treated him like the seven year old boy he had been before it hit. Emma could see he was surprised to see her.
"Emma." He greeted her. "Not that it isn't nice to see you, but isn't there some crisis you're meant to be dealing with?" He asked her. Emma just shrugged.
"They can handle it without me." She responded. "You not going to invite me in?"
"No, he's not." Came a clearly annoyed voice from behind them. Emma turned. She raised an eyebrow. Her parents had tracked her down quicker than she had anticipated.
"Have I got a tracker on me, or something?" She asked them. "Is it in one of my teeth?"
"Of course not." Charming responded. "But we would like to know what you're doing here instead of staying with us like we discussed?" Emma shrugged.
"What can I say? I'm young and free." She responded sarcastically. Charming sighed.
"Look, maybe we went a little too far on the age difference comments, and on reminding you we have more experience with villains from our homeland, but it was all for good reason. We need you to understand that there's a real danger here, Emma." Charming said seriously. Emma rolled her eyes.
"Maybe they have a point." August said quietly. Emma shot him a look. He was meant to be on her side!
"See." Snow said smugly. "August is sensible." Emma rolled her eyes. It seemed nobody was going to agree with her on this one.
