At the Bayou

Kayla's POV

We were left alone by Tyler and his friend. He decided to zip-tied us to a fire stove so we wouldn't try to escape.

Hayley was looking around while I focused getting the zip-ties off my wrists. I let out a frustrated groan when my spell was not working, causing me to kick the stove out of anger.

"Kayla, you need to calm down!" Hayley says, watching me.

"Or what? My spells are not working. It should be working, okay? I am trying to get us out of here."

"Oh…" Hayley frowns at me. "I wonder why?"

I let out a huff. "I have no idea, my powers are getting stronger every day as I practice, and this!" I kick the stove again. "Is not fucking working!"

I collapse on my knees, putting my head on my forearms.

"I don't even know what to do now! This son of a bitch, I swear to god, I am going to kill Tyler if I ever get out of these."

Hayley nods, staring at me. "Kayla…how did you know him?"

I put my head back up and look at Hayley sadly. "I knew him when I was a little girl before he moved. Then I ran into him back in college. We were best friends….until this bullshit now. This isn't like him at all. I'm going to kill Klaus if I see him. He made Tyler a hybrid and killed his poor mother!"

"Yeah, get in a line. There are a lot of people who want to kill Klaus."

I let out a chuckle and sat down in defeat. "I don't think I can get us out, Hayley. I'm sorry…I tried."

Hayley puts her leg on my leg in comfort. "Hey,…you tried at least."

I let out a chuckle again. "Thanks…I guess?"

I heard the footsteps then Tyler walks in and joined us.

"Tyler, there's been a wolf watching me lately. Protecting me, like it instinctively knows that I'm part of its pack…..You're a hybrid, you can turn into a wolf whenever you want…Was it you?"

Tyler frowns at Hayley. "No, but you're right—only hybrids can control when they change. And I'm the only one left, besides Klaus, which is why we're here."

"Whatever you think you're doing, you know that whole Original family has made some sort of pact, or something, to keep me and the baby safe. So, if you hurt me, they'll kill you."

"I'll kill you too, Tyler if you hurt her," I butt in, staring at him. Tyler looks at me then back to Hayley.

"What makes you think I'm afraid to die?"

His friend, Dwayne, walks into the shack and joined us.

Tyler looks at him. "You ready for this?"

I frown at them. Dwayne nods, "Let's do it."

Tyler digs in a bag and draws out of a large syringe, and Hayley's eyes widen in fear. When I realize what was happening, I started to panic.

Hayley gets scared, "What are you doing?"

Dwayne walks over and holds Hayley down. Tyler crouches down in front of her.

I start to pull my hands away from the stove, trying to get the zip-ties off. "Tyler, don't, please!" I beg while pulling my hands from the stove.

"Tyler, please. NO! Tyler!" Hayley begs as Tyler pulls her shirt to reveal her full stomach.

"Klaus destroyed everything good in my life! So, I'm gonna take away the thing he wants most!"

"Tyler! STOP!" I yell and grunts as my wrists started to bleed from the zip-ties digging in.

"NO, PLEASE! TYLER, PLEASE!" Hayley started to scream as I watch Tyler as he was about to jam the syringe and I knew that I had to tell him the truth.

"Tyler, I'm a born hybrid!" I yell out, staring at them as they froze.

Tyler turns from Hayley to me. "What did you say?"

I whimper, staring at him. "I am a hybrid, a first-born hybrid. Hayley's baby is not the first…I am. I only found out right before you came…you can take my blood but not hers. Okay? Please don't hurt her."

Tyler walks over to me and crouches down in front of me. "Are you telling me the truth or you're trying to distract me?"

I let out a huff, looking at him. "Yes. I'm telling the truth. You've known me for a while, why would I lie?"

"First, you're a witch, now you're saying that you're a hybrid? I don't believe you." Tyler stood up and went back to Hayley, intending to get her blood and I started to struggle.

"TYLER, don't you dare!" I scream out, kicking at him but I kept missing him. He lets out a chuckle. "Nice try, Kayla. Now, let's get back to it."

I realize something was happening inside me that I have never felt before and I closed my eyes.

I felt the room started to shake and I could hear them freaking out. "Stop it, Kayla! Stop it!"

I let out a scream as Tyler grabbed my arm roughly and I open my eyes to his angry face. The room was still shaking and I could feel that my nose was beginning to bleed. "I will not stop unless you take my blood," I grunt out, staring at him.

Tyler lets out a growl and nods to Dwayne.

He walks over, taking a knife and took the zip-tie off my wrist, leaving my other hand tied to the stove. I stop focusing on my anger, which stopped the earthquake.

Tyler jammed the syringe into my arm and I let out a yelp at the pain, watching my blood being drawn.

Tyler then removes the syringe from my arm and then jams it into Dwayne's neck, injects my blood into him, and then snaps his neck as Hayley and I watch in horror.

Tyler lifts Dwayne's dead body off the floor and drags him over to the other side of the room while Hayley and I glare at him.

"Don't get all judgy! Dwayne knew what he was getting into. He volunteered!" Tyler says, staring at us.

Hayley was skeptical. "For you to kill him?"

Tyler then proceeds to explain himself to us. "Dwayne is a werewolf who died with Kayla's blood in his system. Perhaps the same blood you share with your hybrid baby."

We realize what he was doing. Hayley looks appalled, "You're trying to turn him into a hybrid? That's impossible!"

I started to feel guilty about poor Dwayne. I caused his death…oh god.

"Look, I've been running with wolf packs all over the country. One of them was tight with a witch. She had nightmare visions about your baby and how Klaus could use its blood to make an army of hybrid slaves."

Hayley becomes furious, " I am sick of these witches and their premonitions about my baby. It's just a baby!"

Tyler shrugs at her. "Maybe. Maybe not. That's where Dwayne comes in. You see, he was happy to be the test case. If you haven't noticed, these people don't have much to live for. They'd all welcome the chance to become the superior species. Trouble is, all hybrids are sired to Klaus. They follow his every move." Tyler pause and grabs the knife from his bag and sets it on the table. "No way I let that happen."

I sit up straight in fear when I saw the knife. What is he going to do with it?

Hayley stares at Tyler. "How can you be so sure Klaus knows what the baby's blood will do?"

Tyler lets out a chuckle. "What do you think? Klaus Mikaelson, killer of men, women, and puppies, all of a sudden wants to be a daddy? Or, he's got an ulterior motive. Hybrids can walk in the sun. Their bite is lethal to vampires. They'll take over New Orleans by the end of the week. And you know what's going to stop Klaus then? Nothing."

I stare at him angrily, realizing that Tyler could be right but it was just a theory for now… until suddenly, Dwayne woke up and started to freak out.

Tyler glances at me before addressing Dwayne. "You're gonna have to feed on her."

He picks the knife up and walks towards me before cutting my neck.

"What? No! Ahhh!" I scream out as I felt the knife cutting my delicate skin.

"Do it," Tyler said, looking at Dwayne.

"No, please!" I begged as Dwayne walks over to me and feeds on me, despite my cries and Hayley's cries.

After a moment, Dwayne stops feeding and falls to the floor in pain. Tyler pushes him outside and leaves the shack to tend to him.

I held my neck to stop the bleeding while Hayley looks around. She notices the knife on the ground and strains to reach for it. When she realizes she can't reach it, she instead grabs a broken chair leg from the floor. Outside, Dwayne continues convulsing. I could hear Dwayne wailing as my blood was changing him.

I could hear Tyler shouting at him. "Look at me! Look at me!"

Dwayne starts to calm down, and eventually lies still.

Tyler becomes relieved. "You're okay."

Dwayne's hybrid face emerges, and he smiles. "I'm better than okay."

Uh oh, they are in trouble now...
