Twelfth of May
GrantL1991 asked for a oneshot of Snowing seeing that Emma is upset one day. She has a secret she's been wanting to share. She tells her parents she had a miscarriage before Henry. It's to be set in season 2. Trigger warning for miscarriage.
Right everyone, major rant ahead. If you don't want to read it, please skip past.
Ok, now, I know I shouldn't be giving pathetic little trolls like you the time of day, but since you're clearly so starved for attention that you've felt the need to review the last few chapters 13 times (at current count) to let me know you're displeased, here I am, Your Highness. Aw bubba, did my writing not make you happy? Aw princess. Away and have a wee greet and a lollypop, maybe a nap, see if you feel better. Perhaps you have never seen the delight that is Matilda, or read the spectacular book, but Miss Honey adopts Matilda and is single at the time of the adoption. You may have glossed over the fact that Emma was drawn to her father in this chapter, and that she had not yet actually been adopted by Mary Margaret, but hey, there ya go. Now, if you have anything to say to me, log in and say it. Put a name to a face, go on, see if you can grow a spine. Naw? Didnae think so. If you don't like my story, then here's a wee tip, don't read it. You do not get to bully your way into dictating how I write it or who is tagged in it. Got that? The fact you spend your time reading it just to slate it suggests you have some issues you should probably have addressed. This is coming from someone with diagnosed with a mental health disorder. Good luck my love. Do try and keep your toys in the pram from now on. Oh, while you're at it, gonnie learn how to type? In your haste to review the same chapters repeatedly just to let me know you didn't like them (funnily enough I got it the first time) you did let your spelling and grammar slip. Dear oh dear.
Listen love, I let enough people let me feel shitty in my life without you doing it online. If you've got something to say, grow up and log in. I'm done with bullies. Don't think just because you're behind a screen people don't get hurt. I'm big enough and ugly enough to handle myself, but I don't know who else you think you can aim your pent-up frustration at, and the next one might be a kid who's doing this for the same reason as me: because their therapist told them it was a good way to deal with their stuff. Your comments, they make a difference. Think about that. I'm not asking you to like my writing, just to engage your brain before you type.
Sorry about that guys, here's the chapter :).
She just wasn't herself. Both Snow and Charming could see it clear as day. She seemed to be far off. They didn't know if she was in physical pain. Every so often, she seemed to clutch at her shirt around her belly, but only for a moment. No, there was something definitely wrong. It took until dinner that night for Emma to finally break down and admit the problem.
"I hate this day." She spat bitterly. Snow and Charming looked across to her.
"What do you mean Em?" Snow asked her. Emma sighed. They would find out eventually.
"The twelfth of May." Emma sighed sadly. "It's the day I lost them." Snow and Charming were confused.
"Who, Em?" Charming asked gently. "Is it the day the Swans…put you back in the system?" He asked as delicately as possible. Emma shook her head. No, this was so much worse than that day.
"Before I met Neal, there was this guy." Emma began. "We were young, we met in high school. We started dating when we were fifteen. His name was Ronnie, and he was my everything." Emma was wringing her hands on her lap. She didn't think she'd ever spoke about this out loud before. Snow and Charming hung on her every word. Who was this boy that had been so important to Emma? Had he hurt her? What made her hate this date so much? "You know what teenagers can be like." Emma continued. "Impulsive, and more often than not, stupid. Well, Ronnie and I were definitely both those things. We had it in our heads that we were some star-crossed couple. Romeo and Juliet, except without all the death. So when I became pregnant not long after turning sixteen, like the idiots we were, we were ecstatic." Snow and Charming were shocked. Emma had been pregnant before Henry? Emma took a moment to compose herself. This was the tricky bit of the story. "But then it all went wrong." She croaked. "We had it all planned out. Ronnie's uncle was a farmer. He spent his summers out there working. His uncle had a little trailer that he let Ronnie live in over the summer to give him his own space as well as giving him a wage. We were going to run away to there and raise the baby there. Ronnie even called his uncle to tell him we were coming. That's when his parents got suspicious. They overheard a phone conversation between us. They weren't having their son tied down because of what they deemed a mistake. They sent Ronnie to military school. I never even got to say goodbye. The stress…it all got too much. I lost the baby. On the twelfth of May, I lost the last hope I had." Emma broke down in tears. She had never properly grieved for the loss of Ronnie or their baby. All those years of suffering were just catching up with her there in the loft apartment. Snow and Charming didn't say a word. What could they say to Emma that would ease her suffering? Instead, they simply held her. They would hold her until she had shed all her tears for today. At least that was a start.
Emma knew she could never fully get over losing a child, nobody ever could. But it was time to acknowledge her pain. She owed her unborn child that.
