Together again- part 2
Ann asked for a oneshot of a sequel to Ch767 "Together again" where Emma isn't interested in talking to Snowing and Lucas is trying to help Emma come around.
Sorry guys, I had hoped to completely clear my request list before tomorrow, but Mother Nature came along and really cramped my style.
Emma had grown up without any family surrounding her. Then she found out she had a son, and it took her months to get her head around that. Around someone else she had to think about before making any kind of big decision. Heck, she still wasn't very good at that. Now she had an older brother and parents thrown into the mix. It was all just a little much for her. So, Emma started to avoid her parents and brother completely. She just wasn't able to deal with that, not yet. Lucas could see how much it was hurting their parents, so he took it upon himself to sort it out. Or at least try to. Emma might think she was the master of hiding, but it was a genetic trait, unfortunately, so was finding each other. So it didn't take long for Lucas to find his little sister down by the docks.
"Sometimes it's easier to imagine just sailing away, leaving all our problems behind, huh?" He called out to her. Emma shrugged.
"I don't have any problems." She said calmly. "I'm fine." Lucas frowned. Denial. He came over.
"May I join you?" He asked her. Emma shrugged.
"Suit yourself." She said casually. Lucas sat down on the bench beside her.
"Listen, I'm going to cut straight to the chase here, because you strike me as the kind of person who doesn't appreciate surrounding fluff." Lucas said honestly. "Emma, I know you're finding all this hard. I am too. I have to balance getting to know all of you again alongside being with my adoptive family. It's a different struggle from yours, but it's still hard. Running away and refusing to talk to us won't make that easier." Emma snorted.
"Poor Lucas and his adoptive family." She spat bitterly. "How very unfortunate, having too much family to spend your time with. What a burden."
"Emma, it's not that simple…"
"Isn't it?" Emma interrupted him. "It seems pretty simple to me. I had nobody growing up. You had a chance to stay with me and you gave it up."
"Emma I was five years old!" Lucas defended himself.
"I was a baby!" Emma shouted back. "I had nobody! Now everyone just expects me to accept that I'm some fairytale princess, that I've had a family all my life that wanted me? No! Hell no!" Lucas bit his lip. This hadn't been a good idea. Emma wasn't ready for a full on confrontation yet, his parents had been right. He was being impatient.
"Fine, I can get not being ready to get to know me yet, or my side of the story. But mom and dad didn't have as much of a choice." Lucas got up. "Just…give them a chance, Emma." He said quietly before walking away. Their parents deserved that much.
