The child found herself lying in something soft. She slowly began to rise from her sleep. She expected herself to be in the cold hard ground from the outside but as she looked around, she found herself on a bed

She looked around and she was amazed at how big the room was. She looked at a red book next to her, she couldn't properly read the words but the ending caught her eye: engineering

It reminded her too much of the lab and shoved it away from her. Then she frantically looked around for her things, planning on escaping.

"Whoever captured me might send me back," she thought. She pulled away the covers to find herself in a large black shirt. She moaned confused and pulled at the shirt and she was barefoot. Then she heard footsteps coming towards the door. Thinking quickly, she ran for the closet, keeping it slightly open.

Then entered a blue elf with glasses and a cowlick in her hair and she wore a white sweater and jeans.

"Huh, that girl is gone…" she thought out loud

"Laurel...is that girl okay…" called a male voice downstairs

"Colt, she's gone." Laurel tried to go out of the door but the girl saw something slithering in the room, tripping her in the process

"Blazey…" Laurel said irritated. The girl saw the dragon sniffing around and it came towards the closet.

The child panicked and slammed the door with her powers, shutting the door behind her. Unfortunately, Laurel took notice. Then Blazey started to bark.

She tilted her head at the closet door. She tried to open it but it was shut tight

"Ian, something's wrong with your closet door…"

The child was in the closets with both arms extended out, trying to keep the doors shut. She luckily heard the door shutting and footsteps leaving

The child peeked out, thinking it was safe to leave...Then when she tried to crawl out of the closet, she was face to face with Blazey.

The dragon barked and the girl squealed. She raced out of the room with the dragon following after her. She saw a large centaur, racing to try and see what's going on and she raced past his legs, making him stumble and Blazey just made him tip over and fall.

The chase continued in the living room. All the child could do was look back to see if the dragon was still following her and she suddenly tripped over a chair. She looked up and found a teenage elf sitting in it with his earbuds in.

"Uh hey…" he said shyly. Then the child began to race away from him and saw a door and she opened it and ran inside… only to shriek and run out, with a burly elf coming out of it

"What's wrong with that girl…"

Then the child had no choice but to hide in an oven and shut it behind her. All she could do was cower inside as she watched the figures come closer to her. Then the dragon made her jump and she raced out and tried to bury herself underneath the dining room table

She watched Colt stomp towards her. She started to whimper and whine

"what's the matter with you...making a mess like this-"

"Colt...Don't scare her, she's already terrified enough as it is… and I don't want her running outside in that storm…" Laurel warned him.

Laurel then slowly approached the shaking child and got on her hands and knees

"Hey...It's okay...sorry these boys frightened you…One of my sons Ian saw you in that storm...our basketball did the job of knocking you out…"

Then the girl saw Ian joining his mother in comforting her. The child gave a haunted stare at Ian. All she could see is the image of that horrid Dr. Peterson. She backed away a little further and Laurel told Ian one at a time. He meanwhile searched for her things and found them on the couch. He then saw a rag doll fall out of the bag. He picked it up and approached the table again.

"Hey uh, do you want your doll?" He asked the panicked child.

The child stared at the doll and began to moan and reach for it.

"Yeah.. you want your dolly, Ian give it to her," Laurel told him.

Ian gently placed the doll underneath the table and the girl cuddled it viciously.

Laurel then spotted tears rolling down her cheeks and she reached underneath the table to wipe away her tears. Then thunder boomed, making the little girl shriek and jump.

Then Barley joined in peeking underneath the table

"Hey hey… it's okay, you're safe here…"

Then thunder roared, then the child had no choice but to race into Laurel's arms for comfort while still holding onto her doll. The mother felt her shaking

"Shh Shh, it's only thunder sweetie…" Laurel told her gently. She picked up the child and found her as light as a feather. She looked at her belly and she found that her rims showed and looked malnourished.

"She doesn't even look fed…" Laurel whispered to herself. She glanced at the girl who was still nuzzled tight in her arms. She took the child to the couch, riced her slowly back and forth, and hummed a little lullaby to calm her down.

The child then found herself opening her eyes and looking up at Laurel. She nuzzled against the woman's chest, listening to her heartbeat. It was slow and steady as it drowned out the raging storm outside and it made her sleepy. Her rapid heartbeat from her earlier panicked frenzy began to delay.

"Feel better now…" Laurel asked her. The child nodded her head. "You were just frightened weren't you…" the child whimpered and nodded. Then when the child opened her eyes, she saw that Laurel's glasses were the most interesting thing to her. She gently snatched them off and decided to look at them.

"Sweetie I-" then Laurel saw that the girl was just curious about them, peering through them with one eye, gently moaning at the same time

"Oh those are called glasses," then the girl turned to her and tilted her head. "They are de-de-devices that you can see out of…" then the girl turned to Barley, seeing that his beanie was interesting too. She began to float gently towards him making the elf nervous.

"This girl can fly…" Colt said astonished.

She still had the glasses in hand and took a look at Barley.

"E-E-Easy kid…" then Barley cringed thinking that she was going to do something but he felt his hat off of his head.

The girl gently moaned, looking at the hat and she tried to put it on her hat, but it was over her eyes and she puts on the glasses upside down. This caused a few laughs from the family. Then the girl looked at Ian's staff and began to fly towards it

"Hey hey hey, don't touch it…" Ian nearly shouted at her. The girl jumped back.

When she looked at Ian, all She could see was Dr. Peterson in his reflection and the girl got instantly frightened again.

"Hey hey, It's okay...I didn't mean to yell at you…" Ian whispered to her

"Ian...You scared her…" Barley told his younger brother

"She-She was about to touch my staff…" Ian defended himself

"She's never seen a staff before...She was only curious sweetie pie…" Laurel added

This made Ian feel guilty and he told the girl that he was sorry for yelling at her.

The girl moaned and whimpered.

"Can you speak?" Colt asked her. The girl moaned. She was only paying attention to her doll as Laurel and Barley took back their belongings

"Nothing…" Colt tried to get her to speak but nothing was working.

"Uh...Could you tell us your name…" Ian asked. the girl just moaned.

"No no no...Your name…Uh, Mine is Ian...This is my older brother Barley, this is my mom, and this is our stepdad, Colt" Ian said, using gestures, pointing at each of the family members. The child paid attention to each of them

"What's your name?" The girl just moaned again, making Ian sigh.

"Ian I don't think she has a name…" Laurel told her youngest son.

"Maybe we can name her…"

Then the girl realized something and she moaned to get their attention. They turned to her and she removed her bracelet revealing her number to them.

"Fifty-one….Is that your name…" Laurel asked. the girl moaned timidly and nodded her head

"Now what kind of a name is that...You need a better one" Barley told her.

Then the rest of the family spent the rest of the day trying to figure out a name for the young girl, who was busy exploring the house, flying around

"Can you not fly so much kid…" Colt told her. The child whimpered and lowered herself down

"How about Isabelle…" Ian said. The girl tilted her head.

"Those are called names...Something that your...uh...your…" Ian struggled trying to explain it to her

"Names are something that goes with you forever, an identity…" Laurel butted in. "Understand, name…" the child slowly nodded her head

"At least she understands…"

"How about Peony…" Colt suggested the child cringed at that name. "No...Uh...Judy…Lizzie…" the girl then stuck her tongue out at the names.

"Well I don't see you coming up with anything…" the girl moaned at Colt with sass

"Yeah you tell him, Dinah…" the girl turned around at Laurel. "You like the name Dinah…" the girl nodded her head

"Well then, Duchess Dinah it is…" Barley declared. Ian facepalmed while the girl flew behind the teen and began to play with his hair

"Okay okay, D.D. That's my hair your messing with…" Ian told her as Dinah fluffed his hair with both of her hands. "Aww, you're gonna miss up my hair…"

"Ian, She's just trying to play…" Barley told him

"Well this is a wrong type of play-" then as if it were magic Ian began to float

"Wh-What's happening…" Ian panicked. Dinah then made Barley, Laurel, and Colt float as well

"This is so cool…" Barley was in awe. Laurel then did a flip and laughed

Then Blazey barked at her owners who are now afloat. Then suddenly, she was being lifted too and she frantically barked

"It's okay girl...It's okay…" Barley comforted

Then when the thunder stuck along with the lightning, the house went completely dark. This frightened the girl and the family fell to the ground

"Well, that was a soft landing…" Colt said sarcastically.

"Ugh, powers off, Dinah, wanna help me get the flashlights…" Laurel called for the girl

Dinah moaned and followed Laurel. In a shed, they found the flashlights and they made their way back inside the dark house.

Then Laurel tried to turn back on the power but it was no use.

"Well, that's busted…" Laurel groaned. As She left, Dinah stared at the power switch on the wall. She floated herself then and she squinted her eyes and then as if it were magic, the power came back on

"Hey, the powers back on…" Laurel called. Then She found Dinah nearby it. She had a look of suspicion but then heard a loud grumbling noise coming from Dinah

"Well, I guess somebody's hungry…" Laurel thought. She went through the fridge and found some recipes and sensed Dinah floating next to her

"How do you feel about meatloaf…" Laurel asked her. Dinah licked her lips

"Well meatloaf it is...I'll teach you how to make some, Okay…" the girl nodded her head.

As Laurel taught her how to make it, it was a bit of a process. Laurel had to do most of the hard stuff while Dinah mashed aggressively at the meat and veggies to make the meatloaf. Laurel can only giggle at this.

"Your funny you know that you're a funny girl…" the girl tilted her head

"You know a smile would look good on you...You know smile…" Laurel smiled to show her and Dinah showed a small smile."

"There you go...That's called a smile…" Laurel said.

Then Barley crept up from behind Dinah and wrapped his arm around her neck.

"Haha, gotcha…" Barley gloated. Then Dinah started to panic and bit his arm, making Barley release her.

"Hey…" the girl whined and hid behind Laurel.

"Barley...You can't do this type of play on her…" as the girl clung onto Laurel for comfort crying, a memory came to mind

Back at the lab, the girl tried to run away from the guards about to take her away. One of them tried to grab for her chain, but the girl pushed her hand to send the man flying to the concrete wall.

Then a centaur guard grabbed the girl by her neck, about to choke her

"Yeah, go to sleep you little brat…" then she chomped him really hard on the arm, making him release her and she held him down with her powers and twisted her neck, and down the man went.

Dr. Peterson came to the scene and saw the knocked out guards and looked at his subject. The child cringed, thinking that something bad was going to happen to her

"Fascinating…" was all that came out of his mouth.

Snapping back to reality, the girl sniffed and turned to the oven. She yanked at Laurel's sweater and moaned, pointing at the oven

"Ugh, Meatloaf must be ready…" Laurel then placed her gloves on and took the meatloaf out and made plates for everyone.

As Dinah got her plate, she excitedly chowed down on her food, then she spat it back out, feeling how hot it was in her mouth

"Ah AH ah ah ah…" the girl then fanned her tongue. This got a few laughs from Ian and Barley.

"It's hot sweetie...That's the first time you burnt your tongue." Laurel asked

Dinah whimpered and whined, nodding her head.

"Aww...I'm sorry that it was too hot for you…First, you should blow it then eat it."

Dinah tilted her head.

"Like this…" Laurel took a forkful of meatloaf, gently blew, and took a mouthful of it

Then Dinah took a turn. She took a forkful, then blew really hard and tried to take a bite, but there was none. Then she looked up and saw that it spread all over the table

She shrunk in her seat and whined. "Hey, Don't feel bad, you're still getting it"

Then Laurel showed her again and Dinah tried again and she successfully got it

"There you go...You're just still learning…" Dinah moaned happily as they enjoyed the rest of dinner.

Then Dinah yawned and rubbed her eyes. She clutched onto her doll Darling. The family noticed this.

"You sleepy wanna go to sleep, is that what you want…" Barley asked her. Then she began to slowly fall out of the chair.

" Woah Woah Woah…" Barley caught her and carried her, bridal style upstairs. It led to Ian's room and he set her down for a minute and left the room. He returned with a bunch of extra blankets until he found her in his brother's bed

"Hey, that's Ian's bed...Come on, off the bed…" the girl refused to move and she snuggled herself within the comfortable bed

"Comfy huh…" Barley then set the extra blankets down on her and she fell asleep, clutching onto Darling.

"Goodnight D…" then Dinah's hand slipped onto his and then he went into a trance.

Barley found himself outside of the lab. Even if it were daytime, the place still looked dark.

"Knolling hills Lab…" Barley read. Even if it were daytime, the place still looked dark.

He looked around and found a bunch of people in lab coats walking around in reverse and he heard whispering

"Who said that?"

The whispering came from a familiar cyclops woman. He read her tag and it said, Nurse Lily.

The woman went from glancing at the building to at him. "You must protect subject 051 and keep her safe from here or else

"You mean Dinah...or else what…" He glanced back at the building.

"Or else what…" He repeated turning back to her and he had a look of horror when Nurse Lily had a bullet wound on her chest and blood was dripping down her uniform and she looked down at the gunshot and back at him

"Or else she'll be killed…" She faintly told him

Then Barley woke up from his trance and glanced to Dinah. She was still asleep in bed.

Whatever dream it was...He swore to kept his promise to Nurse Lily to protect her from the men at the lab. He left the room to let the child rest and he knew that Ian wasn't going to be happy when he finds a guest sleeping in his bed.
