Chapter 2- keep me warm
10:00 am
"Adrien, your father is writing for you in his study", Natalie said as Adrien finished closing up the package box labeled clothes. He was full of excitement when his father had broke the news saying that they were moving back to Paris. The one place he would ever call home. He snapped out of his excited playback before looking back at Natalie.
"Ok, tell him I will be there shortly, thank you Natalie", the teenager had said, carrying his box to the corner of the room. Natalie nodded her head before exiting the room, Adrien, hearing another set of footsteps echo in the very large place.
"Can't believe your leaving already...its going to be a shame", felix said from behind Adrien, carving out an apple he held in his hands. Adrien scoffed at the sound of his cousin even mentioning that word. Shame."It's not like your going to miss me anyway felix. It would make sense to bring your party friends once i leave, you know, for celebrating purposes", Adrien said sarcastically. Felix chuckled.
"You very well know I don't have friends Adrien", Felix said, plopping an apple piece into his mouth, "its also just a shame how you really aren't going anywhere but to hell when you leave to Paris with your father."
Adrien took in a sharp breath as his stomach churned.
"Shut up Felix.", he said, stuffing another sweatshirt into a box.
"What, its not like you have any friends, or family to prevent your father from slapping the heck out of you after drinking booze."
Adrien stopped mid clothe stuff, as his mind went racing. Friends. Or friend.
He reached into his shirt feeling the yang necklace on his neck. He never took it off, well unless he went to bed. Then, the first thing he'd do when he'd arise, was clasp the necklace on his neck. He'd notice felix stare at it time to time, but he never told anyone where he had even got it.
His mind raced back to his father. The evil man. Gabriel had hit Adrien multiple times, usually after drinking so much. Adrien had gotten used to it, until felix had told his mother that her own brother in law was abusive. Amelie had taken no liking to it, threatening to call CPS on Gabriel, And even thinking about kicking him out, but that would only make everything worse for Adrien.
The boy felt a Tear run down his cheek, slapping out of his shock, he wiped it away.
"You sure are nice when it comes to defending me in my personal information, but you sure do like hurting me with it", Adrien said, zipping up the box, taking out his sharpie marker to label sweatshirts. Felix smiled at his cousin.
"I just don't want you to go, thats why I'm mentioning all of this anyway", Felix said, carrying another box to Adrien. Adrien smiled back before hugging felix.
"I'll miss you too felix", Adrien said before bidding farewell as the boxes were carried away, while he made his way to his fathers office.
"And thats why students should have the freedom to express themselves! Not wear ugly uniforms that make us feel like garbage! Students need to be able to feel good of themselves, and proud to be at school, especially when it comes to learning. And that is why we believe in freedom of expression, for all students!", Kim said as he and Piercon had finished their PowerPoint assignment. The class roared in applause. While marinette had simply rolled her eyes, Kim had always had to exaggerate his opinions.
"Thank you piercon, and Kim, those were very valid reasons, i appreciate your compassion", Mrs bustier said, before the two had taken a seat,"now for Marinette and Alya, you two have an argument about this issue?".
Marrinette stood from her seat, nodding her head as she grabbed her poster, seeing as Alya was nowhere to be found.
"I will be doing this myself Mrs bustier, seeing as Alya is running late", marinette said shyly. Mrs bustier had given her a sympathetic look before nodding her head. This wasn't the first time marinette had been let down so easily.
Marinette had walked to the front of the class, her head down. She took a deep breath in as her lip had quivered.
You can do this, she told herself. She nodded before looking up to the class.
"I-I. I will be disagreeing with the fact that school dress choice is appropriate for our school. It has been proven by multiple studies that student popularity and bullying comes from others who would feel superior to lower class judging by their wardrobe", marinette glanced at Chloe to see her clench her teeth, piercon, sending daggers.
"Students should feel safe in their environments, not threatened, especially when they are umm in uhhh tough situations at home, for example", marinette breathed in as the class gave her disapproving looks, obviously only agreeing to Kim's point of view. She shook her head as she looked down to her paper, then back to her board.
"I umm, excuse me I-", Marinette chocked on her words, as she held her hand in her mouth, feeling herself get dizzy.
"She's going to throw up!", she heard a voice say from the class. She continued to hold her hand in her mouth before she ran out of the class.
The nurse smile broadly before giving Marinette a cup of water and a pill.
"Just remember to drink lots of water, and don't lock your knees when you are giving a presentation", she said. Marinette nodded slowly as she sat on the nursing bed. The nurse turned around before the door to the room had opened.
"Oh my gosh Mari are you okay?!", Alya said a she scurried to her friend. Marinette stared at her, before looking back into her cup, and continuing to drink her water.
"I don't want to talk right now Alya", Marinette said as soon as she finished the water. Alya gave the nurse a quick smile before turning to marinette.
"Look, I know your mad at me right now, I'm sorry. But i was running late because I had finally got the call from the news directors, and I'm able to start a vlog! I don't know what yet, but still!", the reporter said with glee. Marinette turned to her before scrunching her eyebrows.
"That's awesome Alya, but school is priority, and i find it frustrating at the fact that you care about something that you should only care about 2 years from now! I was humiliated and i was counting on you!", she said.
The nurse had only watched the two, her coffee in hand as she sipped the hot brew.
"I know, and I'm sorry, i will make it up to you, i promise!". Marinette smiled at her friend before reaching out for a hug. The two broke apart as the school intercoms were sounded.
"Marinette Dupain Cheng, please report to the Principles office, Marinette Dupain Cheng please report to the principles office, thank you".
Marinette nervously looked at Alya before bidding farewell to the nurse, and headed to the principles office. She stopped at the front of the door, before knocking several times.
"Come in", Principle Damocles said from the other side of the door. Marinette opened the door facing the principle as he sat on his chair, his hands folded.
"Please sit Mrs Dupain Cheng", he said, his hand pointing to the front of his desk. Marinette did so, her hands shuffling.
"You wanted to see me sir?", she said.
"Yes, i have asked for you,for a very important reason, and i believe you would fit great for the role". Marinette gulped. Looking down to her hands.
"Am I in trouble, Mr. Damocles?", she asked quietly. The man had only look back to glance at her with a tilted expression.
"Oh heavens no! Far ways from so, i have chosen you to help a new student make their way around the school, that is all". Marinette looked up to him quickly.
"A new student?".
"Yes, all the way from London a matter of a fact, I was told that he should arrive soon, tomorrow morning", the principle said. Marinette tilted her head.
"Uhhh, you said he?", she said nervously. She was never good with talking to boys, especially after Adr-.
"Yes, is that a problem miss?". Marinette only shook her head before smiling back to the principle.
"Not at all sir".
That next morning
"Here are his classes, and his locker information, which you should just give to him, don't look at it. His seating assignments and such, he should be here in 10 min, you can wait out side of the school for him", the vice principal said smiling at marinette. Mrs peters was her name. Some would wish that she herself were the principal.
"Thank you, I will make sure to make him feel welcomed", Marinette said, taking the papers shyly.
"I know you will, and thank you so much for waking up so early in advance to show him around. I know school only starts in 2 hours, an I appreciate your kindness", Mrs peters said. Marinette nodded her head before bidding farewell to the vice, and rushing out to the front of the school.
20 min had passed by and there had been no sign of the new kid. Marinette tapped her foot impatiently as she squeezed the packet of class information on her chest before a black car had passed in front of her, stoping suddenly. She squeaked as the sudden vehicle had came faster than she had thought. The folder had slipped from her hands, causing the papers to fall to the wet ground.
"Oh come on", marinette said, quickly grabbing the papers before they became wet from the rain that was starting to pour harder by the minute.
She cursed to herself as the papers were beginning to soak, barely noticing the two pairs of legs from the corner of her eye.
"You shouldn't be in the pouring rain", the voice said pulling out an umbrella at the top of her. Marinette stopped before going faster than before as she picked up the papers.
"I'm so sorry, i-i accidentally dropped the papers and-".
"Your going to get a cold you know", the voice said then dropping to one knee to help her pick up the papers. Marinette couldn't see the boys face,as her hoodie jacket covered her side view.
"You could too, just helping me you know", she said taking the papers from the boys hands. He retreaded before standing up, making sure the umbrella covered the close-to soaked girls body.
"Eh, I'm used to it in London", the voice aid again. Marinette's eyes widened, quickly remembering what the whole point of being out here in the freezing cold was to give the new kid a friendly welcome.
"Oh shoot, im so sorry", marinette said standing up, as she shoved the papers into her folder,"i was supposed to give you a warm welcome, and here you are, putting an umbrella over my head, as you get soaking wet", she said, avoiding to look at him in the face with her head down.
The boy remained silent before looking down to meet her eyes.
"I'm fine with it", he said, causing marinette to look at him. Marinette blinked, her eyes connecting with green robs and a shy smile, and soaked blonde hair. Her voice got caught into her thought. And her breathing stopped. Adriens smile faltered as he took a step back. He'd know those blue eyes from anywhere, and the blue strands of hair that were out of her blue jacket. Out of surprise and utter shock, marinette dropped the papers, the class information forms slowly falling to the ground, and on cue, adrien had dropped the umbrella from his hands, the metal handle clanking against the cement steps. The rain had seemed to get heavier the longer they stared at each other. Marinette had begun to cry at the sight of her old friend, not even able to tell the difference between the rain and her tears. Adrien had only gave a small smile, joy and happiness, with a mix of sadness mixed into one. Marinette lapsed Adrien into a hug not caring of his soaked shirt hitting the side of her face. Adrien could feel her sobs, as he returned the hug, his head laying on the top of her head.
I'm so sorry that this is shorter than intended, but I wanted them to have a separate moment when getting their miraculous's, and I wanted it to be really well written. This took me some time, but I luckily got the reaction I hoped for.
A little bit of clarity...
Adrien was stuck in London, as his father had forced. And he hasn't seen marinette in 3 years. Yes, Gabriel will be Hawkmoth, and I'll break down how and why in the next chapter. So basically Chapter 3 will be all about how the holders will get their miraculous's.
Until then! And don't forget to review, so that I can give out a shoutout in chapter 4!
Stay safe, and healthy
