Ian slowly fluttered his brown eyes open to find light green eyes staring back at him.

He screamed and Dinah screamed too as they bumped their heads into each other.

Then Barley rushed into the room, hearing Ian yell. He shook his head when he found the culprit

"Dinah don't scare me like that…" Ian threw his red book at her, making her fly away to dodge it

"Ian, calm down, she was just curious and wandered in here…" Barley chuckled. This made Ian have a flat look on his face

"I know your curious but please don't do what you just did...It scares people…" Ian lectured her. Turns out, Dinah wasn't paying attention to him and wandered around the room, making Ian groan.

"Short attention span…" Ian thought. Then a curious moan came out and the boys saw Dinah pointing at a picture. It was the one with Laurel, a man, and a younger version of Barley. Laurel appeared to have a large bulge in her belly at the time of the photo. Dinah pointed at the picture and Barley

"Oh...That's me when I was younger," Dinah moaned in confusion. Barley took the picture off of the board and sat down on the bed and Dinah joined the brothers

"Our mom was pregnant with me at the time and that's our dad…" Ian explained

Dinah tilted her head and looked at the door.

"Colt is our stepfather…" Dinah still didn't understand

"Well mm...Stepfathers are technically replacements of one's dad...Our father passed away…" Barley tried his best to explain to her. "And...Uh…"

"Barley, She won't understand anything you're saying…" Ian said sarcastically

"That's because people learn things differently…"

"I know Barley…But She can't understand normal things like us-" then they were interrupted by Dinah getting a few of Ian's stuff from his room and making a line of them. She knocked one of them down and placed another item there

"Yeah...That-That's It...That's what I was talking about…" Barley told her.

"Huh…" Ian whispered. Then Dinah placed a few more items on the bed. There were 3 items there and they were shown in a line like her earlier display with Barley's explanation.

"Is that your family?" Ian asked her. Dinah moaned and nodded her head. Then the two items were pushed down. Ian and Barley frowned, seeing what this meant. Then Dinah wiped her eyes and tiny flowers perched on her hands.

"Hey hey...It's okay…" Barley said, hearing the young elf sniffle.

"Yeah...We don't need a garden in here…" Barley glared at him as if to not offend her. "As much as you have lovely flowers...We already have enough…"

Then Dinah was somewhere else, not paying any attention to Ian again.

"Okay we need to work on that attention span of yours-" Barley was stopped when Dinah picked up a toy rocket from Ian's shelf and moaned Happily.

"Hey...That's not yours" Ian snatched it from the curious elf, who was now reaching for it and whining.

"Ian...Give her the rocket…" then Dinah's eyes focused on the rocket and it disappeared from Ian's hands.

"What the…" Ian asked perplexed. Then He saw the rocket in Dinah's hands. He tried to take it back but the same thing happened, much to Barley's amusement. Then Dinah had an idea, She dropped the rocket and ran out of the room. Ian luckily caught it before it hit the ground

"This girl…" Ian facepalmed himself. Then Dinah raced back into the room with her rag doll in her hand and snatched the rocket back and turned to see the astronaut figure and she grabbed it

"What is she doing?" Ian asked.

"I guess she's trying to play with the toys…"

The boys observed Dinah looking at the action figure and her doll and placed the doll down and had her eyes on the astronaut figure. She places it in her hands and began to stretch the figure to the size of her doll, amazing the brothers. Then she grew the rocket a little bigger and placed the doll and figure clinging to each side of the rocket. Then she began to levitate the ship using her powers

"Woah" then the boys began to levitate as well as Dinah. Then an illusion of space came around the room. Ian especially loved this illusion. Barley stared at Dinah in awe.

"I had no idea that she could do anything like this…" Ian told Barley.

"This is amazing…" Barley exclaimed.

"NOT AGAIN...NOT AGAIN…." a yell came from the living room. Ian and Barley chuckled to themselves hearing Colt's voice. Dinah was too much into her imagination to hear him scream.

"Laurel...Laurel...Get me down…" He squealed.

"Colt...It's okay, it's just Dinah…" Laurel laughed.

Suddenly, the illusion began to slowly wear off and Ian and Barley began to descend on the floor. Dinah began to yawn and rub her eyes and Barley realized what this meant.

"I know your sleepy D.D but you gotta stay awake okay…" Barley told her

"Yeah, It's morning and we have yet to go out today" Ian added. Dinah perked up at the word out

"Yeah, we're going out...Understand...OUT…" Barley repeated. Dinah moaned happily.

"You're gonna have to get dressed first…." then Dinah rushed out of the room.

Dinah grabbed the striped shirt and shorts from the store and ran into the bathroom.

She ran over to Barley and Ian and showed them the outfit.

"Yeah, You look cool…" Dinah gave them a twirl, but some of her hair fell in her face and she blew them away. Laurel came over and saw this too.

"I think I saw some hair clips in her bag...Come along Dinah…" Laurel walked downstairs with Dinah gingerly following after her.

Laurel went through her bag and found the clips. They were in assorted colors but she found the right ones to match the shirt Dinah was wearing, a yellow and white clip and she carefully placed them in the front of Dinah's lilac hair, getting the hair out of her face.

"That's better, Let's take a look…" Laurel took Dinah to a mirror and the purple elf was ecstatic to see her hair was not in her face. She looked deeper in the mirror as she can see her face.

"You have such a beautiful face…" Dinah moaned happily as if to say thank you.

She gave Laurel a spin, resulting in her getting dizzy. Laurel gave her a small chuckle

"You're so silly...You're so silly" Laurel pinched her slightly pointy nose, making Dinah giggle.

The men smiled seeing the girls bond. Laurel was happy to play with Dinah as she is the daughter she never had, but she's happy for the men in her life.

Then a squeak was heard from a familiar dragon. Blazey has a toy in her mouth. Dinah paid more attention to it and began to shrink

"Oh boy, what is she doing now?" Colt asked, rubbing his temples. Then the family sees her in the form of a dragon.

She was purple like in her elf form but with green scales and her lilac hair remained. She slithered out of Laurel's arms and began to bark at Blazey. Both of them bent their backs and began to run around each other, nearly tripping the family.

"Oh, so you're telling me that I have two dragons…" Laurel playfully said. Then Dinah finally got her teeth on Blazey's toy. The green dragon wasn't too happy about this and grabbed it back and a tug of war began. Blazey began to shake her head and Dinah let go and hit her head on the wall and reverted to her elfin form

"Are you okay Dinah?" Laurel asked the girl and turned to Blazey. "Bad Dragon...You hurt our guest…" Dinah just whined in pain, rubbing her head where she was hit.

"Aww, Come here…" Laurel held Dinah's head and began to kiss it, eating away her booboo.

Dinah smiled and nuzzled herself against Laurel like she's her mother.

"You ready to go out Dinah?" Ian asked her. Dinah looked at him instead of Laurel.

"Onward, Lady and gentleman...Out we shall go…" then Dinah took her doll Darling and went away with Ian and Barley.

When they got outside, something scared her...which was the van.

"What do you think of Guinevere the 2nd?" Barley asked. Dinah slowly walked away from it, as the van reminded her too much of the ones from the lab. Ian began to comfort her and convinced her that it was okay. When she got inside the van, she cuddled Darling and was more, once Barley puts on his tunes, the drive starting to get a little crazy. Ian looked back at Dinah concerned as she looked as green. She was also clutching on the beanbag in one hand and her ragdoll Darling with the other. The wind blew in her hair and her legs kept moving around frantically when Barley was speeding up

"Barley, I think we should slow down," Ian said looking back at Dinah

Barley looked at her via the rearview mirror and seeing her frantic and slightly ill expression begins to slow down causing the child to relax

"You okay D.D," Barley asked her. She nodded her head.

"You've never been in a car before have you?" Ian asked. Dinah shook her head still clutching onto her toy. Ian decided to go over to her and checked her head to see if she was ill. Her head was slightly warm. Ian was about to ask her something until he felt her heartbeat. It was fast and the purple elf was clutching her doll with her eyes shut. Ian stayed with her and began to pick her up and place her on his lap on the beanbag.

He gently rocked her and place her head on his chest, allowing Dinah to listen to his heartbeat. Ian felt the child calm down as Dinah nuzzled against his chest and her heartbeat slowed down. Ian gently stroked her back.

"Sorry if I went too fast.." Barley said. Dinah just gently moaned. Ian and Barley glanced at each other.

Then they arrived at a gas station to get Guinevere some gas. Barley was out filling the gas while Ian and Dinah waited on the side. Then Dinah's ears perked up and looked around sharply as if sensing something.

"What's wrong…" Ian took notice of Dinah's sharp behavior. She didn't answer and looked towards the street. Barley took notice of this too after he finished.

"D.D, What's the matter…" Barley asked her. Then panic spread on Dinah's face and she shoved the boys in the van and closed the doors quickly.

"Dinah, what's wrong with-"

"SHH" Dinah clamped both of their mouths shut and pointed out the window.

A white van slowly rolled into the gas station and 3 men in white coats came out.

The doctors came out of the van and looked around. It was empty from their perspective.

"Why do we have to get gas here?" one doctor asked

"Yes...Where do you think else captain obvious…" another doctor sarcastically answered.

"Do you guys have the feeling that something strange is here?" a third doctor asked.

"You mean the subject 51?"

"Yeah…"

"She's a stupid kid...There's no way she can get around by herself...not especially after Dr. Peterson gets her back…"

"What is he going to do with her…"

Then the second doctor made a slit-throat sign, making all 3 of the kids widen their eyes. The 3 doctors went inside the small Barley tapped on Dinah and he pointed outside.

He whispered in her ear and she nodded her head. Ian didn't like this.

"What you planning?" Ian asked

"I have to go to the bathroom…" Barley told him

"Can't it wait…"

"It'll be safe to take her…"

"How…" then Dinah began to shapeshift. Her hair was now from short to long dark blue with baby bangs and her skin turned into a baby blue. Her eyes were now dark brown and she wore a different outfit. She wore a red dress and white leggings and pink ballet shoes.

"That works...Come on…" Barley led Dinah inside the store.

Dinah looked around and the 3 doctors were grabbing snacks and she stuck close by to Barley

"Can we have the bathroom key please?" Barley asked. Then Dinah spotted something very interesting to her...sparkle sticks. She yanked at Barley's vest and pointed towards the snack.

"What's that? You want some of those…" Dinah nodded her head. Then Barley picked up some drinks and cheese puffs and paid for everything.

"She looks lovely," the pair quickly turn to see the 3 doctors facing them

"Yeah-ha, she's a peach…" Barley sheepishly chuckled

"What is her name?" the second doctor asked

"Oh um...Her name is Daphne...Daphne Lightfoot, she's my little sister, Say hi Daph."

Dinah waved gingerly and began to do multiple signals with her right hand.

"She's got a little humdrum in her ears and she's deaf…" then Dinah began to squirm her legs and yanked on Barley's vest again.

"Oh okay, Come on, you gotta go number 1 or number 2…" Barley asked on the way out. Then Barley led her to the bathroom and he unlocked the door for her. Dinah quickly went inside and did her business. She changed into her normal form.

"Are they really going to kill me…" Dinah thought. Her thoughts were interrupted by Barley.

"You okay in there?" Dinah quickly finished up and washed her hands. She shooked them dry and She glances into the mirror and went back into her Daphne form and then she spotted a camera. She looked straight at the camera and quickly shut it off, telekinetically. She floated towards it and took off the tape. And placed in it her dress.

She quickly left and Barley handed her all of the snacks and went inside. She scurried to the van and met with Ian who frowned seeing all of the snacks.

"Really Barley…" He thought out loud. Speaking of Barley, he came back into the van.

"Ready to fly out of here Ian?" Barley asked. Ian nodded. He took his staff and as soon as Guinevere the second was on the road, Ian made the van float and Dinah clung onto her doll and the front seat. She was luckily changed back into her normal form.

"It's okay...We're far away from the bad men now D.D. It's okay…." Barley consoled

"What happened…" Ian asked

"Oh they fell for it...they thought Dinah was our sister Daphne…" Barley explained.

"We don't have a sister…" Ian said

"Exactly…" Ian glanced at Dinah and she winked at him and smiled. He smiled back at her.

"Whaddya say we go to the mall, have some fun…." Barley asked. Dinah moaned in confusion.

"Oh your gonna love it…Dinah, We'll get you to try ice cream." Dinah brightened up when she heard this. She saved the pixie snacks for later and placed them into her pocket.

When they got to the mall, Dinah felt her stomach go in a whirl. There were a lot of people there going in and out of the mall. Ian and Barley spotted her worry.

"Hey Hey...What's wrong…" Barley asked her. Dinah just backed away and bumped into the van. She looked upside down and saw something unordinary about it. Ian and Barley see her gaze and Dinah immediately ripped it off the van.

"Hey hey...Careful with Guniver-" Dinah clamped his mouth shut and showed him the unordinary object. Barley's eyes widened.

"What is it…." Ian asked. Dinah showed him and pointed at the lens and the button was beeping red.

Then Ian got his staff and cast a fire spell.

"Flame Infernar," He said and the camera caught on fire. Then the lens luckily went out, making the kids sigh in relief. Then Dinah caught the camera and ran with it with Ian and Barley chasing after her.

She grabbed a rock and smashed it to pieces and threw the leftovers away, nodding her head with satisfaction.

She unknowingly caught attention from a few bystanders who Barley gave them a death glare and they quickly ran off. Ian approached her and gave her Darling for comfort which she took gingerly.

"Young mages, We've arrived at the front doors…" Ian felt Dinah's hand clinging to his.

"Don't be scared, Dinah…" Ian whispered in her ear. When Dinah entered the mall, She was astounded at how large it was on the inside. Barley was glad to take the girl on a tour of the mall along with Ian. the one thing that interested her the most was a candy shop nearby. Dinah gladly took her there while Barley went to get her something.

Dinah was amazed at the colorful store and looked at everything with such wonder in her eyes. Ian couldn't help but smile at her. She was discovering things and she went outside of her comfort zone.

He tapped her on the shoulder and presented her with two large lollipops and Dinah smiled with glee, seeing the vibrant object in front of her. Ian paid for it and gave Dinah the lollipop and they left with Dinah waving goodbye to the clerk behind the desk. They met Barley outside and He gave Dinah a pink bag while he was holding onto a Quests of Yore bag much to Ian's chagrin.

When they continued walking around the small, Something caught Dinah's eye. It was a faun woman crying with her phone on her lap. This gaze also caught Ian and Barley's attention. Dinah looked in her pocket and saw the unopened candy from the gas station and she knew what she had to do. She walked over to the lady and tapped her a few times on the arm. The lady perked up seeing her

"H-Hello…" Dinah waved hello and gave her the candy. This placed a smile on the woman's face

"Oh Sweetheart, thank you" She smiled. Then Dinah threw her arms around her for a tight hug. This caught a few "awws" from even made Ian and Barley smile. When Dinah released her from her hug, the woman's mood lifted.

"Thank you, your such a sweet girl…" She pinched Dinah's cheek, making the little girl giggle. "By the way, I really like your doll" She pointed at Darling. Dinah rubbed Darling against her cheek and gently moaned. Then the lady walked away with a smile on her face.

"Come on D.D." Barley extended his hand and she gingerly took it. She happily licked her lollipop. She remembered something that Nurse Lily said to her

Outside of the lab, Dinah and Nurse Lily were having a calm time before Dinah had to go back inside for more experiments. Dinah had bloomed pretty flowers on the plain, brown ground and Nurse Lily rubbed her back and gave her a side hug.

"I know that your miserable here, but here this advice that I give you…" Nurse Lily told the child. Dinah turned to her and leaned in

"When you do good with others, good things will come to you...When you do bad things will happen to you...So you must always do good, even if people are bad to you…" Dinah nodded to her. Then Dinah presented a flower to Nurse Lily which she took and placed on her long blonde hair.

The trio had loads of fun at the mall, Dinah and Barley tried on a bunch of sunglasses, they went into the photo booth, tried on clothes, and they went to get lunch.

When it was time to leave, Dinah waved goodbye to the building. The people going inside the mall gave the child bewildered looks, but she didn't care.

The drive home was much easier for Dinah to handle since Barley wasn't going too fast as he was at the beginning of the day. When they arrived home, Dinah walked out of the van and began to confidently walk. She didn't see the pesky basketball that tripped her last time and she slipped and fell on her back.

"Woah Woah…" Ian exclaimed. Barley began to pick her up, but when he touched her sides, she began to giggle. Barley glanced at Ian and had a sly smile on his face.

"Barley don't" but his warning came too late when Barley pounced on Dinah and tickled her sides, making her laugh hysterically. Dinah seemed to have liked the tickling sensation and Barley picked her up, lifted her yellow and white striped shirt, and blew a big raspberry on her tummy, making her squeal and guffaw. His beard stubble made it tickle even more for her. Her squeal got the attention of Laurel and Colt who rushed outside, only to smile to see Barley tickling Dinah with his raspberries.

"Barley, we should stop, you don't want to make her pee her pants…" Ian chuckle

Barley finally stopped. "Good point…" Dinah meanwhile was out of breath from all that tickling. Barley carried her inside along with Ian.

By the time bedtime came around, Dinah was full from dinner of curry and she was too bouncy to go to sleep. She wore pink and white striped pajamas that Barley gave her along with a white stuffed teddy bear. She snuggled both the bear and Darling. When Laurel asked her why she had both, she moaned and cuddled Darling. This meant She didn't want Darling to be jealous. She played with Blazey once more, turning into a dragon and playing tug of war. Barley told Colt and Laurel what happened with the doctors and Dinah showed them her Daphne form and Colt rubbed her temples

"I don't think I can take more of Dinah's forms…" Colt sighed. When Dinah changed back, she began to yawn.

"Sleepy now?" Laurel asked her. Dinah nodded. Laurel led her upstairs to bunk with Ian once more. Ian started to slowly not mind her but he still couldn't understand her.

Laurel brought a sleeping bag from the attic. She dusted it off, the dust made Dinah sneeze. Once the sleeping bag was dusted off, Laurel laid Dinah down in the bag and Dinah's eyes were half-open. Laurel saw that the child was sleepy but wouldn't close her eyes. She knew what to do to help the child get to sleep.

She held the child on her lap and began to hum a gentle lullaby. Dinah began to slowly smile, and her eyes began to slowly close and after a few minutes, she was in a deep sleep.

Laurel grinned and laid her back down on the sleeping bag. She grabbed a pillow and a blanket and tucked her in. When she held Dinah's head, she couldn't help but notice something peculiar about her neck

There was a medium-sized scar on her neck and strange prints that weren't too noticeable but if one looked close enough. But Laurel decided to worry about that for another day. She glanced at Ian and smiled when she saw that the lullaby also put him to sleep too.

She left the two kids to get some rest after a long fun day.
