Sick on Father's Day

A guest asked for a oneshot of Emma being super sick at the station. Emma ignores her parents wishes to stay home. At work, Charming has been keeping a close eye on her. She starts feeling worse and eventually throws up over herself and starts crying for Charming to take her home.

I'm combining this one in with the special day, happy Father's Day!

"I can't leave you at work alone today." Emma moaned, even though every step she took made her feel dizzier. "You're already going to be away from Neal on Father's Day. I can't leave you to go it alone because I'm a bit under the weather."

"A bit under the weather? Emma, you're so green you could be mistaken for Zelena!" Snow commented. Emma shot her a look.

"I'm not ginger." She grumbled. "Look, I'm fine. It's just a paperwork day, the dwarves are dealing with town patrol today. I'll be ok." She assured them.

"I still agree with your mom, I think you're better off in bed today, sweetheart." Charming commented. "You don't need to feel bad. Part of working for the force is knowing you might work holidays. You worked Mother's Day without complaining. I'll be home this evening for lots of cuddles with Neal. He gave me his gifts already, just like you. In fact, maybe you could give me one extra one and stay home?" Charming tried.

"Not happening." Emma told him. Charming sighed. He kissed Snow.

"I'll keep an eye on her." He promised. "Come on you." He said, wrapping a cautious arm around Emma. "I'm driving. No buts on that one." Emma didn't fight him. She didn't think she could drive today, if she was honest.

Just a couple of hours in, Emma was heavily regretting her decision to go into work when she was so sick. She felt miserable. Charming didn't think it was great her still being here either. She needed rest, not paperwork. He was doing his best to keep an eye on her without making it so obvious that he'd end up annoying her. So when he heard her beginning to wretch, he was up like a flash. Unfortunately, he was just a little too slow over with the wastepaper basket, resulting in Emma vomiting all over herself. Emma froze, shocked.

"Aw sweetheart." Charming said, his heart broken for her. "I think it's time to call it a day. Come on, up we get." Charming helped Emma out of her chair. Before they even moved, Emma burst into tears. "Baby, don't cry, it's ok. We'll get you home and cleaned up."

"I tried so hard to give you a good Father's Day, and I mucked it all up." Emma wailed. Charming kissed the top of her head.

"Sweetheart, you can't help getting sick. I've had a great Father's Day. I have my beautiful girl, and I have my handsome boy. That's all I need to make me happy today." Emma nodded wearily, her head falling heavily against her father's shoulder. She was so tired, she just couldn't function properly.

"Just…just, take me home daddy." Emma whimpered, tears still falling. Charming's heart leapt. Emma hardly ever called him daddy. Only when she was completely out of it, such as now. It sucked that she had to be that way to get the full title, but he cherished hearing her say it.

"Right away, baby." He promised her, leading her out to the cruiser. He had meant what he said. He didn't need cards or gifts to feel happy or appreciated on Father's Day. He had two (normally) healthy children and a beautiful wife to share them with. Yeah, that was enough for him.
